Yes, it was dirt or something. From the very first iPhone three years ago, I've always used cases on my phones. Not one of them has ever been able to protect the phone from being scratched. Dirt and dust is everywhere and face it, were talking about a phone that will not last forever. It's only a phone.

It's true, but it's not scratches.
Imagine rubbing a plastic cup agenst a stainless steel sink over and over for days.... Well pretty much the same thing will happen to the stainless steel band on the iPhone.
I purchased the Zagg maximum protection kit and applied the rubberish protectors that are suppose to go on the metal band of the iPhone to the inside of the bumper.. BAM problem solved.
But any rubberish tape should work(make sure you pick one that doesn't leak glue when it gets warm from your hands. -

Right I'm afraid this is yet another iPhone bumper complaint. But I need some additional help or support.
Right I brought my iPhone 4 last august and has just expired it's warranty, I do not have any additional cover plans either. In late august 2010 I signed up for my free iPhone bumper to help improve my signal issues. I have recently taken off my bumper to discover my steel antenna band unfortunately scratched quite bad. I've inspected the bumper inside and I've seen like a small peice of rough plastic sticking out and a scratch Mark in the same position on the iPhones band, and there are other scratches from the case too.
Now I would like to know if I could get my antenna band replaced by apple? Free or at a cost? Also does anybody know of an email address I can use to contact apple or the correct phone number as I cannot make sense of their 'contact me' section on their website, I'm from the UK. An email would be preferred if possible. I have also seen on some discussions that people have had their iPhones replaced weather apple still do this I don't know? So any feedback would be so greatly appreciated as I'm disappointed my phone now looks like this as i will be looking to upgrade to the new iPhone and sell this one.

AlexAll cases scratch all iPhones, from the Original to the iPhone 4. This is a side-effect of the overall protection they provide. Dust dirt and debris get inside the case and cause abbrasions, there is really no way to avoid this, cleaning helps but can't stop every bit of wear.
Put the bumper back on your iPhone, it will protect it, and make it look nice. -
Rebel Scholar's case scratched my phone.
Alright so basically my whole plan was to keep this 3GS in mint condition so it'll have a higher sell value when it comes time to sell it for the next iPhone - Rebel Scholar screwed this up. I bought their red matte finish case with the rubber rails, I pulled my phone off about an hour ago and what happens? Two vertical scratches are marked down the back of my phone. I look in the case and their mold marks are a hair higher than the rubber rails, resulting in scratching the ** out of my phone. Rebel Scholar's side better be sending me a couple of their $100 cases for scratching my phone. Main question though, has anyone used any scratch remover substance for a scratch on the back of their phone? I'd just like to know if it would be safe to use something to remove the scratch any without removing the gloss finish to it - so it still looks natural.
small scratch.. possible... gouge type... probably not.
I had the invisible shield installed in it (by zaag) right away to not have scratches.
I use 2 cases for my iPhone
1> LUXE case by ifrogz
2> Monster Cable (Charging Case)
With the invisible shield on my iPhone 3gS ... no issues whatsoever with those 2 cases.... Plus when not using a case .... it isn't so slippery in the hand with the invisible shield.
I would highly recommend you have that installed to reduce/eliminate more scratches down the road.

A song I purchased shows up in iTunes, but will not show up on my iPhone. When the phone is plugged into the computer, iTunes shows that it is on my iPhone, but it is not. How do I get that song to show up on my iPhone?

I synced (updated) my iphone to itunes and some songs were deleted from my iphone playlist on my phone. On the computer, a circle is next to the song and the title faded out. What the heck is that all about and how do I get my songs back onto my phone playlist? Never happened before. My software is up to date?

I have Iphone 4s, and the phone will activate itself again. This I have verified, but when I shall put this onto my phone, so the phone will not approve the newusername and password. How do I get changed Apple ID on my phone so that I get using the new username and password that is verified? Silly to buy a new phone just for this .... The phone is almost three years old. It sounds like your device might be in Activation Lock. Is it asking your to enter in an Apple ID & password, but only showing you the first letter of the email address and then some dots? Example: j•••••@icloud.com?
If so, do you recognize that email? Do you have an Apple ID that fits the same format? If so, then go to www.cloud.com, log in with that Apple ID & password, and see if under Find My iPhone it shows this device. If so, turn off the device, then remove the device from the list. -
Hello, someone stole my sons IPhone today in his gym class. I have the "find my iphone app" on my phone BUT he is not a listed device. I went into his itunes account and downloaded the "find my iphone app" app under his account. When I try to log into "find my iphone" under his name on my device I get an error msg involving icloud......he is MUCH better at this stuff then I am BUT he is in school and now I need to figure out how to use the "find my iphone app". PLEASE HELP
It doesn't matter whick account you use to download the app.
You have to sign into the app (or iCloud.com from a web browser on your computer) with his Apple ID & password.
Find My iPhone will only work if it was enabled in the iCloud settings on the device and it was powered on with a connection to the internet -

I lost my Visual Voicemail when upgrading to iphone 5. New phone was set up from itunes backup of iphone4 but my Mac tells me there is an iCloud back up of my phone prior to this date. Will my Vis Voicemail be on this and can I get it on my new phone?
I see. Apple's documentation on what is included in the iCloud backup doesn't explicitly say that it contains voicemails, but that doesn't mean it does not. You would just have to try restoring the backup to find out.
To restore to your iCoud backup you have to start by erasing the phone. Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. Then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup. You will then sign into your iCloud account, accept the terms and conditions, then choose the backup you wish to restore from. To see an older backup, you may need to tap "Show older backups" (see image below). Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish.
If this does not recover your voicemails, you can check to see if you have an older iTunes backup that may contain them. Available backups are shown in iTunes Preferences>Devices on the Backups list.
If all else fails, you could try contacting your carrier. Voicemail is a carrier feature and they may have an archive you could access.
