  • Iphone 5 Camera Shutter will not open

I have an Iphone 5 and the camera shutter will not open, i will not work in any other camera app either. I can open and reopen it several times and then manage to click the front camera which does work fine. I have called Apple Support (which isnt helpful) as have to pay for them to run through troubleshoot with me!!! - I have not even had the phone for a year, anyone sorted this issue or have this issue?
I have tried all resets and again same problem!!
    thank you

From experience you can try a restore but this usually would be resolved by hardware service. Seek service at your local "Genius Bar" if possible.

  • TS4006 The camera shutter will not open and the camera screen is black front and rear ipod 4, tried force quit and reset, help?

The camera shutter will not open sometime and the camera screen is black. It seems to open as if were switching to the rear but that also appears black? i have force quit the app and hard/soft reset, help?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My ipad 2 camera shutter will not open

Help!! My Ipad2 camera shutter will not open. What should i do???

Quit the camera app completely and then try it again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Try the camera app again.
If that doesn't work ....Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • HT201412 I dropped my phone and the camera shutter will not open- any suggestions? Thank you!!

I dropped my iPhone and the camera app no longer works.  The shutter will not open, however I am able to take front facing punctures when using the Camera360 app.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated!

Well if the basics (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new) don't work, then you've broken your phone.  Bring your phone and $199 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement.

  • Iphone 4 virtual shutter will not open

I have an iphone 4 running on ios 4 and the problem that I am having is the shutter won't open when I open the camera. All that happens is the little virtual switch that lets you select from camera to camcorder mode flashes quickly and goes back to solid but It won't slide and the shutter stays closed. It doesn't flash everytime but it does if the camera app is closed for a while. Also if I select a thumbnail from the bottom left corner of the camera app it takes a lot longer to go to my camera roll than usual but when I go back to camera from the camera roll, then the slider will let me slide to camera or video but  won't let me slide (greyed out)  for about 15-20 seconds all the while the shutter stays closed and never opens.
The strange part is the shutter opens/closes and takes pictures/videos just fine if I use any other photo/video app. Other apps wil let me take photos/videos and save them in my camera roll just like the original camera app.
I can't take it to the apple store because I don't have warranty, I tried calling Apple and they said I need to replace the camera in my iphone which is rediculous because it works fine with other apps.
This all started randomly after I took a video and my phone froze when I pressed stop recording.
How can I fix this without having to delete everything on my iphone or having to pay for a replacement?

The exact same thing described above is happening me too and by the looks of this and other forums, its happening alot of people.
I have tried restoring from new and a DFU restore and nothing works.
Think Apple need to own up that this is a real flaw with the iPhone 4 and offer a repair or recall.

  • My camera shutter will not open to take pics

My camera shutter keeps freezing. I have had to reset it several times. What can I do so that this will not keep happening?

    Dian-
You should take care of the photos first, before you worry about the camera.  Once you get your computer repaired (or get a new one) you need to get it authorized for your Apple ID, and find a way to back up the iPad without erasing it.
Search for an Apple Authorized Repair Center near you.  They should be able to advise you on how to save your photos.  (I see that there is Capitol Macintosh in Lansing, MI.)

  • HT201412 my camera shutter will not open so unable to take any photos

how do i resolve this without having to go into an apple store
    (iPhone 3GS 16GB)

try soft reset dude (press and hold power and home button together, NOTE: the only time you let go of those buttons is when you see the apple logo, when you see the apple logo: let go quickly. your iPhone should restart, if NOT, turn it on and do soft reset again)
    then test your camera.

The front facing camera works during FaceTime but crashes when I switch to rear camera. in Camera mode I can't switch to front camera. I plan on replacing this phone with an iphone 5s when it comes out but I need this phone to work until then.

When you did the restore, did you restore from a backup or restore as new? The final step of user troubleshooting is to restore as a new device, not from a backup. If you restore as a new device and the camera still does not function, it is probably a hardware issue. Make an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar and have the device checked by a Genius.
