iphone:ios7.
can't get itunes to detect my iphone4 after updating itunes to 11.1.0.126. tried to authorize my computer but to no avail.
error message: we could not complete your itunes store request. An unknown error occured (-50)
running on windows 8

Is your computer usb port usb 2 ? it should work directly connected (no hub).

IPhone cannot be detected in WinXP

My iPhone cannot be detected by any computers. It does not charge at all except I connect it to the power plug.
I tried,
1) Connected to my primary computer with iTune 8.2.1
2) Connected to my secondary computer with iTune 8.2.1
3) Connected to my primary notebook without iTune
4) Connected to my colleague's computer with iTune 8.2.1, his iPhone is detected, so the usb cable must be OK.
Anyone can help????

Hi,
Are you directly connecting the iPhone to the computers with the Dock Connector to USB Cable?
If not, try plugging the iPhone into a USB2 port on the computer using the cable that came with the iPhone.

Okay, that means with the latest iOS software, it requires the latest version of iTunes on the computer. Which computer OS platform are you using. Now you are saying that after downloading the latest version of iTunes that your iPhone is not being recognized by iTunes? Completely different thing, and the iTunes on the iPhone has nothing to do with that anyway. The iTunes on the iPhone is just for purchases.
If you are having trouble with the iPhone being recognized by iTunes, use the appropriate link for your computer OS for assistance.

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

Iphone not getting detected by itunes after upgrade to 10.5

Hey guys,
Last night after the release of 10.5 itunes, my iphone is not detected in itunes. I dont know what's the problem, I am on Windows 7 and It's able to detect my iphone just as a camera. I've tried using it on my friends laptop running windows vista, there i'm able to detect my iphone but no on my comp.
I've tried starting services from Administration i.e. apple mobile and ipod services.
But i'm not able to find any solution to it. Do let me know guys if any one of you is facing this problem with me and does anyone has the solution to it?

I am having the same problem although I think mine is probably worse than yours. My iphone was detected by itunes both after i updated it to iOS 5.01 and after i jailbroke it. I then downloaded a few cydia apps and it would no longer detect my camera folder on my computer...so I said screw it I'll start over. So I deleted all the cydia apps/tweaks I downloaded and then I was able to see my camera folder again.
BUT WAIT now itunes wont detect my iphone. I tried redownloading all my tweaks and apps but I still get nothing. I tried reinstalling cydia but still nothing. I tried connecting my iphone to another computer with a fresh copy of itunes and still nothing. This is REALLY bad since now I can't even restore my iphone. PLEASE HELP!

Because both iTunes and the version of OS X are too old to support the iPhone 5.
You are going to have to purchase the install DVD for Snow Leopard and then upgrade to it. Once there you will need to update to 10.6.8 and then iTunes 10.7 should install.

DFU mode would be the last thing to try before contacting Apple Support or visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store.

What happens when your iPhone or iPad is completely non-responsive, even when connected to iTunes? Or perhaps you need to downgrade from beta software. Any of these scenarios will require you to put your iPhone or iPad into Recovery Mode. No need to panic though, we can walk you through each step of the way!
Turn your iPhone or iPad off.
Hold down the Home button and plug it into your computer. Keep holding theHome button until you see a screen telling you to connect to iTunes.
iTunes should show you a popup saying that there is an iPhone or iPad that is in Recovery Mode and needs to be restored before you can use it. Click OK.
Click on Restore iPhone... — or Restore iPad if that's what you're using.
That's all there is to it! Just wait for your iPhone or iPad to reboot and you should be good to go again! Keep in mind if you're using Recovery Mode to downgrade firmware, this may not work if you're trying to downgrade to a version that Apple is no longer signing. Why is this? Also I tried to open a book that was synced and a message that I did not have enough memory to load this book popped up--when I know that I have well over 40gb of memory left in my ipad and over 16gb left in my iphone. The message that I cannot connect to the itunes store is strange that it offers no option and I have to hit OK to get out and use my ipad or iphone.

Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and changing the date to a few months (or maybe a year or two) in the future and then re-trying

Turn off the passcode. Disconnect the iPhone first.
Tap Settings > General > Passcode Lock (from there you can turn it off)
Then connect the iPhone to your computer.

My iphone4 is being detected by iphoto & is getting charged, but is not being detected by itunes !! I use a macbook pro.... with snow leopard...itunes version 10.7 !!!

I have iPhone 3G. It shows on screen, connect iTunes all the times. I read all the solutions on internet. I tried everything to fix the problem even Restore Mode or DFU Mode, but iPhone never detected by iTunes or computer. I tired both Mac or Windows Computers, but still nothing. Any ideas??? This forum is my last chance. I gonna break this phone if still nothing and buy a different brand. I don't wanna pay $268.00 to Apple, change with the refurbished one. The iPhone can only sync on one computer. Is this a new phone or an old phone? If it's a phone you already had, did you change computers? If the phone you had was already synced on another computer then it may have to be deauthorized on that other computer, but I'm not sure. I had an older original iPhone that we replaced and then I wanted to use it as a iPod. I forgot that I had synced it with an older computer. When I connected it to mine my iTunes would recognize it, but wouldn't let me sync to it because it was synced to another computer. So I had to connect it to the older computer, deauthorize it and then it synced fine on my new computer. Not sure if that is a similar issue to yours or not. You need to give us more information. Like were you able to sync it before and this is something new etc. More info that you give the easier it will be for someone to answer you.

I have an iPhone 3g but it is not recognized by itunes or pc.... I have tried diffrent usbs, pc.. My iPhone was in working condition then when i connect to the pc it doesnt detected by itunes or in device manager.... And when i plug in the charger iphone doesnt shows it charging... But it was charging actually.. But it was'nt showing... So i thought there is a problem with the software so i got wifi-snc on it from cydia and i conected it to itunes and restored it.... and it got stuck in recovery mode.. so i replaced the dock connector but the problem is still there... when it got turns on it shows only itunes and a usb icon on it... but not detected by pc...
