Iphone 4 case scratched my new white iphone stainless steel?

So as the title says i have purchased a new iphone 4 and today i put on a case to see if it would fit and it did, not knowing that this would damage my iphone on the side opposite of the volume buttons i noticed scratches, they go from the top to practically the bottom. Now they are only noticeable when i look at them close and in the light but its still a pet peeve that my new iphone of 3 days already has a scratch for me attempting to put a case on it. If i take it to genius bar will they offer to replace it or just tell me im S.O.L? also is there anyway i can fix it perhaps?

It would be considered accidental damage so they would not replace it, most likely.
You may try cleaning it. Could just be some material of the case rubbed off onto it and can be wiped away.

  • Why is my clear case scratching my new black iphone 5?

I bought a clear case from amazon, it seems to have scratched the paint off my new black iphone 5 near the lock button. I bought the case to protect the phone, not scratch it! I was careful with the phone so dirt couldn't get trapped I there so I don't understand why it has scratched? Maybe a soft case would be better?

    Return it immediatly.

  • Black stainless steel case with black sport band?

I would like to order a Black Stainless Steel Apple Watch with a Black Sport Band but this option is not available for pre-order?  The only band option available for pre order with the black stainless steel Apple watch case (not sport) is the Black Stainless Steel Band which I tried on and don't like.  It's also way too expensive and I'd prefer to begin with the black Sport Band. Anyone know why this option is not being offered as Apple has billed the watch to be able to be compatible with most of the bands?  Am I stuck ordering the silver stainless steel case with the black sport band that is available?  Thanks for the help!

  • Can i swap a broken iphone 4 for a new white one?

can i swap a broken iphone 4 for a new white one?

No, you cannot. The only option you have is to sell the old phone to someone (i.e. Craig's List, eBay) and purchase the white one. You can either try to purchase subsidized somewhat or purchase outright. Any warranty or out of warranty exchanges at Apple are for the same size, color, model of phone you bring in.

  • Chip in brand new White iPhone

This morning I noticed a chip in my brand new white iPhone.  I haven't dropped it or anything, it's on the edge of the phone right below the button.  Should I take it in?? I shouldn't have a chip if I haven't done anything to it!

Take it in.  You've nothing to lose.

To transfer your current hard drive I like the free application SuperDuper. It makes a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html  You'll need a cheap SATA external hard drive case. Put the new drive in the case then format and partition the new drive and clone your old drive to the new one. Check that it's set up right by booting up from the external drive. Then replace your old hard drive with the new one and put your old one in the external case.

  • What's the chance of a new white iMac coming out in the future?

I love my white iPhone and iPad (and various iPod's)...it would be awesome to get my hands on a new white iMac.  The brushed aluminum looks good and all...and I'm sure it's ultra rigid...but I'm really wanting a refresh of the white late 2006 iMac. See this photo: http://www.uniqueskins.com/images/products/1465/resize_imac24in_2006.png
The polycarbonate case with the 27 inch screen....I would be in heaven.

  • Scratches On New iMac.

I have a new 24" iMac which has some scratches on the white plastic frame around the iSight camera lens. These were inflicted by me quite accidentally.
They're not too bad, but is there a way that I can remove these scratches?
Is the surround on the new iMac the same material as an iPod?

    Hello,
I've had two iMacs, and I can tell you that the white plastic will scratch extremely easy.
There are various "scratch removers", but they work by just buffing the surface and essentially scratching the surface with smaller scratches to polish it and remove the more obvious scratches.
So, yes, you can use one of the buffing products, but understand that you are just replacing larger scratches with finer less visible scratches.
The only way to remove such a scratch is to either fill it (which the products do not do), or use an abrasive to wear the surface down slightly and therefore remove the scratch (which is how the commercial products work).
As for comparing the surface to the iPod, yes it is very similar. So, any iPod type product should work similarly on the iMac.
But, you should be aware that the machine will receive a new scratch (however minor) every time you touch it. If you were to tilt your machine to the light, you'd be surprised how many minor scratches there probably are just from the little bit of handling you did setting it up.
I found that there were a lot of minor scratches (visible only in certain lighting angles) that were on both of my machines just from setting it on the table. Touching it with your fingers is enough to cause permanent marking on the case. And, laying it flat on a soft cloth is also likely to scratch it (like you would if you were adding memory).
It's just the design of the machine. So, if you're going to start here, the question is whether you want to polish and scratch at it's surface every time you handle the computer.
    I hope this helps.

  • Good case for my new 12" iBook

    Good morning.
I'm looking for a good case for my new 12" iBook. I'd like something that can hold/carry my iBook along with power "brick" and cord.
I like the MacCase Sling but it won't be available until 10/15.
Anything good that won't scratch/damage my new iBook while letting me carry it around in style?
    Thanks.

I use a crumpler. They're from Australia - but can be bought online. They look good are very functional. They have many different styles so am sure that you'll find something to suit.
I also use a neoprene slip and then pop it in my crumpler.

  • Moving HD from old white Macbook to new white Macbook

    Hi all
I've hunted around Google but haven't found a conclusive answer to my problem.
I have a previous generation white Macbook. I put in a new hard disk (320g) sometime ago, and all works like a charm.
My wife finally wants to move from a pc to a mac. She is happy to have my current macbook, and for me to get a new white macbook. All good stuff.
So what I want to do is get a new white Macbook with the standard 160g HD because that is more than enough for her needs. All I'd need to do then is swap the HDs around.
BUT as I understand it, my HD's version of Leopard won't have all the drivers for the graphics card in the new white macbooks.
Can anyone help with a simple step by step guide to how I can put my HD into a new white macbook and get it working seamlessly? Is it even possible?
I've read something about swapping HDs and doing an 'archive and install', but I'm not totally clear on what I would be left with at the end of it.
I hope I've been clear. Happy to explain further if not, and would GREATLY appreciate any help.
    Ev2

All the options I can think of, while they could be accomplished with two drives, would be a great deal safer with a third drive used as an intermediate. This can be any external Firewire drive (desktop size is fine), with at least as much space as you have files on your current HD.
First, clone your current system to this third HD using Carbon Copy Cloner. Boot from it and make sure it's complete.
Then, swap the two Macbook drives. The new Macbook will now have the 320GB drive. Boot the new Macbook from its installation disk, run Disk Utility to wipe the drive, and install its system from scratch. When you first boot from this system, it'll ask you if you want to transfer information from a previous Mac. Attach the external HD through Firewire, and transfer your old files back.
Now, you'll need to wipe and reinstall the old Macbook's system on the 160GB drive.

  • Is there ANY way to do S-Video or composite TV out on the new white MB?

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A (read the small text)
Apparently the mini-DVI to Video adapter doesn't work with the newer white MacBooks now.
I hope there is some way to do TV-out to an older TV that only has S-video and RCA composite inputs. Is there? Not all of us have high end TVs with DVI or HDMI inputs.
    Getting quite frustrated.

  • Stainless steel band on iPhone 4 rusting and spreading

A very good day to everyone looking at this post, since I got my iPhone 4 from marina bay sands on lunch day, I realize that I there is some rusting on the stainless steel band right above the black strip on the left side, i call singtel and ask them what can I do? They told me to go down to comm centre to have my phone checked out, but when I went there, they told me that they are not able to change the phone as it is only a rust and they they went on saying that they can change it if it's a hardware issue.
My first question is, is stainless steel suppose to rust.
My second questions is, rusting of stainless steel bend is not counted as hardware issue?

Stainless Steel is misleading to those who are casual observers. Depending on the grade of the alloy some oxidation may occur.
This is from Wikipedia, please be sure to corroborate anything in here you do not understand or doubt.
In metallurgy stainless steel, also known as inox steel or inox from French "inoxydable", is defined as a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5[1] or 11% chromium content by mass.[2] Stainless steel does not stain, corrode, or rust as easily as ordinary steel, but it is not stain-proof.[3] It is also called corrosion-resistant steel or CRES when the alloy type and grade are not detailed, particularly in the aviation industry. There are different grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit the environment to which the material will be subjected in its lifetime. Stainless steel is used where both the properties of steel and resistance to corrosion are required.
Stainless steel differs from carbon steel by the amount of chromium present. Carbon steel rusts when exposed to air and moisture. This iron oxide film (the rust) is active and accelerates corrosion by forming more iron oxide. Stainless steels contain sufficient chromium to form a passive film of chromium oxide, which prevents further surface corrosion and blocks corrosion from spreading into the metal's internal structure.
