IPhone 4 - Contact sync with Gmail

How do I sync all contacts from my iPhone 4 to Gmail?
All contacts that I add directly to my iPhone that do not update to Gmail automatically. These contacts fall into a folder called "All on My iPhone".
Please provide any insight possible.
Thannks.

Great. Thank you.
Now that I made that mistake by adding them to the "On My iPhone" folder, are you aware of a way there a way to import them to Gmail contacts? I would like to do this as a one time thing so I don't have to manually re-enter each contact.
Ideally, I would import all to Gmail, delete all contacts off iPhone, then re-sync Gmail with iPhone so all contacts transfer to the Exchange account.

  • Is Z10 able of 2 ways contacts Sync with Gmail?

    Guys,
Please help me with a contacts syncing matter. Is Z10 able to sync both ways to the device and from the device?
As I'm using gmail as bridge between Outlook and Z10 and as I saw is capable to sync one way from Gmail to phone but not  the reverse.
So, please let me know if I'm not aware of a settings or this is another issue of Z10.
It will be good for RIM to start solving these, otherwise I'll be one of the customers which will change the....team.
    Thanks!

    Yes -- just tested it.
When you add a contact on the phone by default it will link it to your Google account, local (not-synced) and the SIM card.  You can unlink from any of the ones you don't want interconnected.
It shows up instantly on Google's contacts.google.com page.

  • Deleting iPhone contacts & syncing with MobileMe

I had been syncing iphone contacts to a mobileme account and then wanted to instead sync them to another mobileme account (the main account in a family).  This is a problem since you cannot delete all the contacts on the iPhone (I had 2000 of them.) and iPhone syncing with mobileme does not allow you to replace contacts on the iPhone with what is on mobileme.  (iPhone allows only a merge which would duplicate contacts and add many I no longer wanted.)  After considering the "solution" offered by a "Genuis" which was to reset the iPhone and start over which is a painful process to reorganize the apps and login all apps that require it, etc.  Instead I developed the following procedure that worked great (This was with Mac OS 10.6.8 and IOS 4.3.5):
    1) Sync address book on Mac to make sure mobileme is up to date.
    2) Backup all the address book to an address book archive and/or select all contacts and save in a vcard file (File -> Export)
    3) Uncheck sync of contacts in MobileMe (Apple -> System Preferences -> MobileMe -> Sync tab)
    4) Select all contacts in Address Book and hit delete (Edit -> Select All, then hit delete)
    5) Select all groups in Address Book and delete (select first group, hold shift and click last group, then hit delete)
    6) Connect iPhone and sync.  Go to info tab in iTunes and select Sync Address Book Contacts, then Under Advanced, check Replace Information on this iPhone - Contacts.  This will transfer contacts (none) from Mac to iPhone which will delete all existing iPhone contacts.  Click apply and then sync.
    7) After sync, disconnect iPhone and verify there are no contacts on iPhone.
    8) On iPhone, go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Accounts -> MobileMe (login if you haven't done so), turn on Contacts (to sync with mobileme)
    9) In a few minutes, the contacts on the iPhone (none) will be merged with the desired contacts in MobileMe and the contacts in MobileMe should show up in the iPhone Address book - This completes the iPhone.
    10) On the Mac, go to Apple->System Preferences->Mobile Me->Sync tab and recheck Contacts.  Click Advanced, Reset Sync Data, select only Contacts and transfer contacts from MobileMe cloud to the Mac, and click Replace.
    11) In a few minutes, all contacts and groups from MobileMe should show up in the Mac Address book and you are done.

    Yes I did select merge.
Did it 2 times without anything happening on iPhone or MobileMe.
Third time it deleted my contacts on the iPhone.
Is there no option to tell it which direction to do the merge/sync?

  • 2 way contact sync with gmail contacts

I set up gmail account on iPhone (3GS), using Exchange option. When I enable the Contacts in iPhone setup, I see that all my Gmail contacts have transferred over to the iPhone (and I now have duplicates when looking at "All Contacts," but see there is a separate Gmail Contacts group which has only those Gmail contacts.
However, if I add a new contact to Address Book, and then sync, that new contact does NOT sync over to Gmail, so it appears to be one way. I do have mobileme, but I realize that probably doesn't get it over to Gmail.
    So.... 2 questions:
    1) Is there a way to get true two way sync of contacts between iPhone and Gmail
    2) Is there any way to NOT have duplicate contacts when choosing All Contacts on iPhone (I suppose I could just leave it on Gmail Contacts, which if syncing 2 way, should show everything)...
    Thanks--

Adding a contact on the phone syncs up to the Gmail contacts online satisfactorily (although I haven't tested different additions, like Fred & Wilma, vs. Barney)
Editing contacts on the phone syncs up somewhat.  Eg, I have Barney Rubble, and edit it to show Barney & Betty Rubble. In the notes, I put 'Bam-Bam'.  The edited note will show up, but the name change will not.
I'm resorting to the brute force method.  Deleting the contact entirely, and re-entering it.

  • I have fixed all my contacts in my address book on my mac...how do I sync with gmail and my iphone?

how do I set my mac contacts list as prime and sync with gmail and my new iphone?

As far as I can see, the gmail contacts list will sync automatically when you access your gmail account.  As for getting it on the phone from a Mac, being  a PC user, I can't help you there.

  • Icloud Sync with Gmail Contacts

I've successfully synced my Iphone 4s with my Macbook Pro Address Book contacts, but I'm having difficuly syncing new contacts I add to my Iphone with those on the Gmail server.  Is this even possible?  I've followed the guide found here http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/gmail/thread?tid=43b96a25d20b75b4&hl=en to no avail.  With that set up, my address book simply created duplicates of all my contacts but I still cannot sync with the gmail server.
Any help would be much appreciated.

iCloud doesn't sync with gamil, only with your iCloud contacts.  If all your devices are signed into the same iCloud account with contacts syncing with iCloud enabled, changes made on one device will sync to all other devices.  Also, if you're looking for a backup solution beyond using iCloud take a look a apps like My Contacts Backup.

  • Iphone sync with gmail caledar

My iphone can't sync with gmail calendar since three weeks ago.
In my iphone configuration I have as an exchange account ([email protected]) the contacts and the calendar on.
In the iphone screen exchange calendar I get the correct account ([email protected]), what did I touch that I didn't have to touch?

Good grief. You quit way too easy.
Which part of this is over your head?
Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Select your Gmail account. If created as an Exchange account, Exchange will be available at the top left above Account.
There should be Mail, Contacts, Calendars below to turn on or off, and a Mail Days to Sync option if created as an Exchange account.
To create the account as an Exchange account.

  • Contacts no longer syncing with GMail

It is very frustrating when things that are working suddenly stop.  Here's what I had working:  GMail Contacts on web and Android in bi-directional sync with MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 and Contacts version 7.1.  I use Contacts as a conduit to Entourage version 12.3.6 and that part of the chain is still working perfectly.  However, the link between Mac Contacts and Gmail Contacts is broken.  New contacts created in Entourage appear in Mac Contacts, but not in Gmail.
I've tried two different ways of syncing GMail, both the built-in way in Contacts and creating a CardDAV account.  Nothing works.  Whatever process the Mac OS uses to talk to GMail Contacts is broken.
I don't really understand the difference between CardDAV sync and the built-in way Mac Contacts syncs and if there are any benefits to one or the other.  The built-in one worked perfectly until a few days ago.  Its even more crazy that within the Contacts app, if I select "All On My Mac", I see one particular contact, but when I select "All Google", it is not there.
    Any thoughts?

Thank you Csound1.  I found a couple of other bits of info to compliment your solution.  Remember that my overall goal is to sync GMail Contacts with Entourage, and Entourage is the source of most of my problems.  [Believe me, I would use Outlook for Mac if it was half the program Entourage is, but alas, its terrible.  No Projects module is a deal breaker.]
Anyway, contacts created in Entourage appear in Mac Contacts, but there's *something* wrong.  They are missing the "Card" field.  That is why they don't sync with GMail Contacts.  Contacts created in GMail Contacts correctly sync across to Mac Contacts, both through CardDAV and the built-in check-box in the Account setup.  I guess my work-around from here on out is to create all new contacts in GMail.  This is kind of a bummer, but I'll get used to it.

  • Duplicated contact when I synced with gmail contact and iCloud. How can I do?

Duplicated contact when I synced with gmail contact and iCloud. How can I do?

On your iOS device tap Settings > iCloud. Turn Contacts off.
Reset the device. Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Now tap Settings > iCloud. Turn Contacts back on.

  • Why won't contacts sync with iphone

I'm loosing the will to live and I've spent hours trawling through the huge amount of fixes suggested on various sites but to no avail. I run a macbook pro, OSX10.6.8, Itunes 10.4 and the software on the iphone was updated today. Syncing with iTunes worked fine up until about 3 weeks ago - I don't know what happend but it just stopped. If I delete all the contacts in the mac address book (310) and run a sync nothing changes on the 472 iphone contacts. All the settings appear to be correct in the preferences. If I check the box to stop syncing contacts and delete all 472 contacts on the phone - they all dissapear. When I reset the sync contacts check box and check the "replace all the contacts on this phone during the next sync" box I get all 472 back again. Can anybody offer any help at all please before I slash my wrists!!

Clearly it doesn't work as I imagine! But I still don't understand what you mean. I'm not saying that I don't like Google's instructions,- what makes you say that?  I'm saying that I think I've already followed them to the letter. How have I not? What else, exactly, do I need to do? Talk me through an example, please.
"You have added a data conduit between Google and your phone. But you have not put anything IN that conduit, save the data Google already has."
What I want to put into it is the contact data aleady on my phone (and in icloud). Google's instruction seems to say that to put something in the conduit, I just have to open Contacts on the iphone. Clearly that's not correct. So what do I do?
Here's what I'm refering to in Goolge's instructions:
"If you're using iOS 5 or iOS 6, follow these steps to set up contact syncing with Google Contacts:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account... > Other > Add CardDAV Account.
Enter the following information in the fields:
    Server: google.com
User Name: your full Google email address
    Password: your Google account password
Tap Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically."
The last sentence seems to me to mean that opening Contacts will "put someting in the conduit".

  • How do I set up my iphone to sync with my outlook account?

How do I set up my iphone to sync with my outlook account?

    Hi maryannmc,
                          You have two options.
    1. You can plug the iPhone into iTunes and select the "Info" tab and choose "Sync Mail Accounts" and this will transfer the settings across.
    2. In the iPhone you can go to Settings > General > Mail, Contacts and Calendars and choose "Add account"
You will need to know if your account is POP, IMAP or Exchange and this will help determine what settings you need to enter and how to set it up so both your computer and iPhone can receive email.
The iPhone can add most popular accounts with ease such as gmail, yahoo or hotmail.
    Hope this helps,

  • How can i sync my iphone with itnes on a new pc.  when i tried to sync it said it will erase the contents on my iphone to sync with the new pc which has no contents

my old pc was running low in memory and i don't have enough space to back up in order to instal iOS5.  so i got a new pc, installed itunes on it but when i tried to sync my iphone on the new pc, it said it'll erase all contents on my iphone and sync with the new pc which has no contents. it says iphone can only sync with one machine.
    can you pls help

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
