IPhone 4 deleted contacts & emoji's - HELP!
My iPhone deleted some of my contacts the other day and left some of them. However, i noticed that the ones that were left - the emoji's i had next to the names has gone.
I have had the emoji app since i got the phone in February and it has never been a problem until now. I keep replacing the emoji's next to my contacts but they seem to disappear as soon as my phone gets a text or something. It's really annoying because i can't remembering changing any settings on my phone or anything.
I have tried deleting the app & keyboard - then reinstalling it. But the same thing just keeps happening. The emoji's are fine on twitter and my text messages, it's just in the contacts name they now keep deleting themselves.
If anyone knows how to fix this or has any suggestions, i'd be very grateful. Thanks
You are following the wrong guidelines. The Software Update option was not introduced until a later version. You need to connect to iTunes to update if you currently have iOS 4 or earlier.

IPhone displaying deleted contacts when writing SMS
When writing a new SMS, I try to enter the name of the contact. My iPhone then displays deleted contacts. How do I fix this?
The only way is to erase all content and settings and then restore the iPhone as a new device. Just make sure to back up the content you intend to save. Do not restore form the backup because that will restore the text history as well.

Delete mail account on iPhone without deleting contacts
I can find no way to delete all mail at one time on my iPhone 5s with iOS 8.1.2 except to delete the account. Then I get the message that deleting the account will also delete the Contacts, Calendars, and Notes—which I do NOT want to do. So, two questions:
1. Is there a way to delete all the mail at one time? Or at least one mailbox at a time?
2. Is there a way to delete the account without deleting the Contacts, Calendars, and Notes?

They gave me the following instructions:
1. Go to appleid.apple.com, press "Manage your Apple-ID" and write in your current apple-id and password.
2. Change your primary mailadress to your OLD mailadress (your old apple-id).
3. Log on to your old email and confirm.
4. Now you can write your ordinary password on iCloud in your iPhone, using your old apple-ID.
(Settings > iCloud)
5. If you would like to keep that apple-ID, you don't have to do anything else. If you rather want the previous apple-ID, you first delete the account on your iPhone.
6. Change back your primary email address as it was before (on appleid.apple.com), and log on to your email to confirm.
7. Now you can type in your current apple-ID account on iCloud. (Settings > iCloud)
This solved it for me anyways!

Blackberry Messenger Deletes Contacts! Please Help
I've had blackberry's in the past and this has never happened to me! My device is fairly new and at first I didn't notice it too much, but my BBM has been deleting random contacts.
They don't completly disapear from my contact list, but I dont recive updates from them and when I try to send a message i'm asked to "reinvite" the contact?

Try doing the following to see if it corrects your issue.
First backup your BlackBerry messenger contact list following the instructions in this article, I suggest doing the local backup to your media card.
How to back up and restore the BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 contact list
Once you have completed this follow the instructions in this article to clear your BlackBerry Messenger database.
How to clear the user content databases from the BlackBerry smartphone
Once this is completed follow the steps in the first article to restore your BlackBerry Messenger contact list.

IOS6 on iPhone 4s deleted contacts and calendar dates
I updated iOS6 on my iPhone 4s and it deleted all my contacts and calendar dates.
I have a 2008 Macbook Pro running 10.5.8 Leopard and iTunes 10.6
I plugged in my phone after realizing all my contacts and dates were deleted. iTunes popped up and said that my iPhone was not compatible with it and I needed to download iTunes 10.6.3 or later.
Since I am running 10.5.8 Leopard, I can't download iTunes 10.7 (which I think is the only thing I can download currently off of Apple).
Does anyone have a solution for me on how to get my contacts and dates back?

I too have had everything wiped off my phone when updating to iOS 6. Never had this problem before and was not clearly informed that the phone may get wiped (sure, there was an essay to read but, like most people, just clicked confirm). Every other update I've had has gone smoothly without a problem so presumed this would be the same.
Why was there not a clear warning stated before going ahead with the upgrade that your phone may get wiped and you will need to back it up just incase?

How do I delete contacts on Skype on computer with...
I have looked everywhere. But I cant seem to be able to figure out how I delete contacts off of my Skype. It was easy to do With my old computer wich had Windows 7. But noe With my new computer With Windows 8, it doesnt seem like Im able to delete contacts.

I was just wondering if I can delete an iCloud account off my iPhone without deleting contacts, etc off another iPhone who is using the same iCloud. My sister has an iPhone and i recently got one myself, when I was setting it up I used her iCloud account and all our contacts merged together. When I tried to delete these contacts off my phone they also deleted off my sisters phone.
I was wondering if I delete the iCloud account off MY iPhone would it delete everything off hers too?
I would be very grateful for any information you would have in relation to this, Thank you.To migrate your data to a new account, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted, sign into the new account and choose Merge when prompted to upload the data to the new account. When you delete the account it only deletes it from your device. Other devices still using the account will not be effected by this.
After moving to your new account, you can then go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into each iCloud account separately and delete the data you don't want from each account (i.e., deleting your sister's data from your account and vice versa). -
I was trying to get my personal computer contacts and calendar in outlook on my iphone and ipad. I was told to use icloud. I went to control panel and then icloud and selected my contacts and calendar. Now ALL MY DATA IS DELETED FROM OUTLOOK. Help!!
I was just on the line with Apple Tech support. First of all, I learned that when you link contacts to iCloud, it moves all your contacts to another/new address book...look for aother address books and you will see it. But I found the new address book dies weird things and changes the "Display Names" format. Evidently (per Apple support tech) there is no way to avoid this problem...so I just delinked the iCloud from my contacts. The contacts stayed in the iCloud address book...so I exported them to a CSV (comma separated value) file and saved it on my desktop and then imported that list into my original contacts folder. Now everything is back the way it was...being able to use my contact address book the way I did before. I was surprised that they never considered or realized this problem...but then the tech guy admitted that they really don't have A LOT of experience using Windows PC's.

HT1766 emergency help needed to recover deleted contacts from Iphone
Here is the situtation that occured that resulted in deleting all the 500+ contacts in my iphone
A couple of days ago, I went to the mobile phone store and bought an iphone 4s upgrade package. I have been using an iphone 3s for the late couple of years.
recently I upgraded the software of the old iphone and received the icloud software and backed up all the data to the cloud.
Now during the upgrade to the iphone 4s the shop assistant set up the new phone and transfered the sim etc to the new phone, I was unaware that the new iphone was now a clone of my old iphone with all my old data and a live sync to the icloud and itunes etc.
When I got home I decided that I would give the new phone to my wife, so I proceeded to delete all the data off the new phone, this involved manually deleting all 500+ contacts in the address book, bar a few close friends that my wife knows, to safe her reentering the data.
What I did not know was that the phone was syncing to the icloud/itunes everytime i hit delete and deleted a contact from the icloud and also from my old iphone that I am still using, so now I have 2 x iphones with no contact data.
I have lost 15years of accumulated business and personal contact info, 75% of which I have no way of recovering from other sources.
My obvious questions is, is there any way of restoring my iphone's contact data from an earlier version of the the auto sync backup ie from 2 days ago ie the 18th June 2012 and not the sync'd backup from today or this evening?
OR is my life lost for ever?
can anyone help?

JohnUnless you backed up somewhere else before deleting the contacts and not since, i.e. iTunes on your computer, sorry but no. The backups are overwritten each time there is changed data - old backups on iCloud aren't saved.
There is no way to restore any data deleted from an iOS device if it isn't in an available backup. -
So, I gave my daughter my old iPhone 4s and I got the new iPhone 5 she deleted my contacts because she didn't know the iCoud was on. So what should I do to restore these contacts? Please help, Thank you!

Syncing Iphone and Iphone has deleted ALL contacts from Outlook - Help!
I have on many occassions synced my Iphone without issue.
This time syncing the IPhone has deleted ALL the contacts on the hone and WITHIN Outlook.
Can I regain the lost contacts safely from the back up?
I have over 300 contacts and don't want to have to copy them all in manually.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Or, it you've backed up your iphone to icloud or itunes, you can try performing a restore of the iphone. -
During sync, new contacts on my iphone are deleted. I'll typically add any new contacts I get directly to my iphone, simply because I don't have my mac on me at all times. However, unless I specifically add the contact to my mac address book, it will be deleted from my iphone contacts upon sync. The option in iTunes to replace contacts on my iphone is not selected. Is there a way to merge info on sync instead of replace?

I have an icloud account but the Geek Squad went there and tried but could not export contacts. I truly am not that good re icloud. They worked exclusively with my itunes, re-downloading, etc - all of the stuff in their book.
I have not tried a complete restore because I am not sure I am that good with the equipment but could. I did all of the stuff on the help page - sync reset, forced one-way sync etc but the phone just does not seem to recognize the sync. I have not gone to an Apple store to have them have a look - that may be my next step to hook up to another itunes computer. It seems simple to me - it was working fine until maybe 3 months ago - probably when there was an update. Its telling to me that the phone does not tell me there is a sync in process while itunes is saying there is - its just not biting between the 2.
I appreciate any hep - and I said, I not stupidi about these things but have kind of reached as far as I am comfortable with fear of doing something really wrong. -
I was trying to sync my iPhone 3GS and it is now stuck, saying I'm in recovery mode. I am thoroughly confused now after researching online. I'm scared to restore to original settings as I don't want to lose everything, apps, contacts, etc. Help! Is there a way to get it all back if I do restore?? Can I my stuff back through iCloud??
Bad news first and we hope for good news as well
The device is in Recovery Mode and the data has already been deleted, you need to restore the device with iTunes in order to get the iPhone back into a working state
When the iPhone is restored you can then restore it from your latest backup using iTunes or iCloud and regain some, if not all, of your data.
The good news part only happens if you had a backup.
