Iphone 4 dies and requires reboot

Two days ago, my iPhone 4 completely shut down and would not come back on until I did a hard reboot (holding the power & home buttons). It worked fine the rest of the day, but it did it again today. Both times the battery was charged more that 60%. The phone was on my hip and I had not touched it in some time. Can anyone give me some suggestions besides going to the apple store?

I guess I'm having the same issue... several people had complained about trying to call me without success. Every time it happens, when I take a look at the phone it states "Searching..." in the where the 3g sign normally stands. The another not normal behavior is constant failures when sending SMS... I'm forced to reboot the device. I'm almost sure that this symptoms had started after 4.2.1 upgrade.

  • When my iphone 3G dies, and i plug it in, it shows the apple sign but never turns on ???

help me! when my iphone 3G dies, and i plug  it in, it shows the apple sign but never turns back on !!!!!!

When the phone shows only the Apple logo it usually indicates an issue with the system software that is preventing the phone from completing the boot sequence. This can be remedied by putting the phone into DFU mode and restoring the system software. This will remove all data and software from the phone and put a fresh set of system software on the phone, so hopefully you have a recent backup.
To put your iPhone/iPod into DFU mode:
    1. Make sure the iPhone/iPod is connected to the computer
    2. Hold down the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time for 8 seconds
    3. Let go of the sleep/wake button and keep holding down the home button
    4. If you are successful, a dialog box will pop up in iTunes stating that iTunes has detected an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode. Note that a successful DFU will result in a blank black screen on your iPhone/iPod.
    5. Click OK, then click the restore button in iTunes.
After that you will be able to resync your data and be good to go.
    Hope this helps.

  • System unstable and requires reboot after 24 hours - HELP

I did a clean install of Leopard twice and the same issue appears. The system becomes unstable and requires a reboot. Mail doesn't function correctly and Firefox gives an error, "Another copy of Firefox is running. Only one copy can run at a time'.
The only option at this point is to reboot, however the system hangs on shutdown.

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the response. what I mean by unstable is that the system will not perform as expected. The problem seems to be growing however. It use to only occur after 24 hours of up time. Now it seems to occur after the system goes to sleep. Twice I have put the system to sleep and each time when it wakes, I can not do anything. If I click an application Firefox, Yahoo, iChat, Mail, etc it will not respond. Forcing a quit on the application does nothing. Each time I have been forced to bring the system down hard. -Any help is appreciated.

  • Sound just dies and requires a restart

I sometimes have to frequently switch between using my headphones and the MBP's internal speakers. Often enough to be very frustrating, the sound just dies and refuses to come back on when I make a switch like this. Settings tell me everything is all right but the only thing that fixes this problem is a restart.
I am getting sick of restarting my MBP ...

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
    Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.

  • My iMac goes blank and requires rebooting while surfing the web and ads change

I have a Early 2008 iMac refurb that occasionally locks up and the display goes blank while online and you have to reboot.  Any clues?

Back up all data immediately as your boot drive may be failing.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'Channel t|GPU D|I/O|Previous Sh' | tail | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

  • My iPad constantly requires rebooting since latest software update.I have done clean install started from scratch and it still continues

My iPad 2 has given me many months of hassle free usage. I have recently [earlyApril] updated the software. Now every time I go to use it I am forced to hold bottom and top button to boot IPad .Eventually it kicks in and as long as I'm using it its fine. If I leave alone it goes down and requires rebooting.
Have tried total factory reset and it continues to malfunction. apple have informed me that a hardware repair would be £206 for a fix or replacement.I find this unacceptable considering the iPad has been well cared for & never dropped etc .Any help greatly appreciated.

So, I have managed to get my iPad to stop showing the "connect to iTunes" screen. I did this by plugging it in to my husband's PC and trying to restore from the backup I left there many many months ago.
The restore FAILED error 3194 (I looked it up it's the same error as the one I got on my macintosh "device is isn't eligible for the requested rebuild"
But the restore attempt mad the "connect to iTunes" screen go away, now it has 4.3.1 again with the special multitouch update.
BUT I STILL CAN'T RESTORE! Why not? I've been searching all over the web and I can find nothing that helps.
It's not like I jailbroke it... can anyone help me please?

Many people are finding their Iphone 4S drops connection with their VW (Passat etc) integrated bluetooth hands free system after working fine for 5, 10, 20 minutes. The only way to reconnect is to switch the car off or turn the Iphone bluetooth off & back on.
This is a dangerous fault and it appears that both Apple & VW have no solution (or are ignoring as they have already sold you a phone & a car).

Instructions to get the phone back working temporary.. till there is a real fix.
    1. turn off the phone
    2. fire up iTunes
    3. press and hold the home button, plug in the cable, hold till you get to see the recovery mode
    4. iTunes will the allow to choose restore the phone back to 5.0.1 ( no other choice)
    5. iTunes will then ask you to choose which previous backup to would like to recover.
(note: please do not reboot your phone unless necessary, i realize at times after reboot, it goes back to sq1)

  • Iphone 5 crashes and reboots randomly while launching apps

Got my phone yesterday. Bought used. Yesterday it was working fine (no apps installed, "nude" iphone) today I was trying to download apps through app store.
Appstore was crashing all the time, 1st just exiting, after next try - frozen screen and reboot. After some reboots the phone won't start and require a recovery by itunes. This happened more than 4 times today.Once I got an error while recovering , the phone was showing apple logo for some time, then virbo - twice, and then again. But hopefully after some tryies I was able to recover. After last recover, my screen was flickering (setting off the auto-brightness ,waiting and switching on helped.
So the question is: All this strange behavior is a software or hardware problem? How to fix it?
    Iphone 5 32gb ios 8.1.3

Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
    - Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear.  (For iOS 6 older, hold down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
    - Relaunch the App and try again.
    - Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    - Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
    - Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
    - Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
    - Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
    - Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

This is my second iphone 5 replacement. I have no apple care so I'm worried. My phone has NEVER touched water! I only get 1/5 of battery use. I've also spent 30$ at the apple store on screen protectors for nothing! I really don't have 220$ nor 50$ I am on a strict budget. I believe I have to pay 220 not 50 ford a phone replacement for accidental damage. I don't know what category this falls under. I really need a new phone or battery. HELP! Will I have to pay? Also my screen lighting is all topsy-tervy every I put my screen on highest it won't work I have to wait about a minute? Forgot to mention that my apps exit out by themselves all the time when Im using them.

So, have you tried a reset?  Restore from backup? Restore as new?  You seem to have a few problems but do not mention any action taken to resolve them.  What have screen protectors to do with anything?

Hey, There are afew things you can try.
    - Simply turn your phone off and back on again
    - Hold down your home button and your lock button and let goes as soon as the screen goes black (Phone will power down) - Then turn on your phone and hey presto!
    - Back up your iPhone to your PC, then restore it..
this ones last cause I think you may have tried it already..
    - Close all open applications
    Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.
