IPhone 4 disconnected from PC during installation

Hello,
I was updating my iPhone to the latest hardware update and it disconnected from my PC during the process, now it displays the iTunes logo and a USB cable on the screen. It will not turn on or be recognised by iTunes or my PC at all, I have tried reinstalling iTunes, rebooting my computer twice and nothing is working. I do not even get the message on iTunes saying that my iPhone 4 is in recovery mode. I will greatly appreciate any help and hope this is fixed as soon as possible .
Thanks.

Was the home button working before the failed install? If so look at this article and see if it helps. If the home button was broken before all this happened, then I'm not sure what to suggest.

Ipod touch 4th gen was accidentally disconnected from laptop during update process. Now permanent screen pic is of the power cord w/ an arrow pointing up to itunes symbol. Holding the ctr & power buttons together for 6-10 sec causes apple pic to briefly appear and power cord/itunes pic reappears. Powering off and on has same effect. Attempting to reset.

It sounds like the iPod touch is in Recovery Mode, Try to restore it from iTunes again.

  • My iPhone wont disconnect from Apple Tv

When I push the airplay button it shows me all my AirPlay devices and my iPhone is not on of the options so I can't disconnect from Apple TV because there is nothing for me to go and change to... It's really annoying me because I. Can't play any music unless it's on the Apple TV.. Thank you so much for your answers!!

Yes, I get the Apple Logo, but it's freezed. I've tried to leave the battery to die, plug to the wall charger, and sync again and nothing.
I'll plug it again for an hour just to try.
When I reset using iTunes, error windows come up, and nothing at all. Some other times, it says it's sync ok, you can unplug, but still the iPhone is freezed.

  • Iphone keeps disconnection from car bluetooth

My phone is great but every 5 minutes or less it disconnects from the bluetooth in my car, which is very annoying and dangerous since if I want it to stay connected while I'm driving I need to constantly fiddle with it. I should add that I have the phone lock enabled and have tried different auto-lock times from one minute to never and it still disconnects from blue tooth no matter what the setting. Any ideas?

More on the issue.  If it is connected and I try to use the bluetooth prompts in my car to make a call, It will start to ring, my phone screen will go black and I can't do anything or hear anything.  It will come back after about 10-15 seconds but the speaker button will be missing .  Then all of a sudden, the speaker button reappears.but it is not on bluetooth anymore.

  • IPhone constantly disconnects from itunes

    Hi Everyone,
I have an 8gb iPhone which is giving me serious grief with sync'ing. When I connect up the iPhone through the USB cradle itunes will fire up and recognise the iPhone - it then starts disconnecting and reconnecting and you get pop-up windows with errors. Currently i am getting "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000001)".
I am trying to connect this to my new MacBook Air running OS X 10.5.2, itunes 7.6.2 and the latest iPhone update.
I have tried lots of things (including calling mac support), what i have done so far is:
    - standard unplugging and reconnecting everything
    - using a different cradle
    - ensuring latest patches on everything
    - software reset of the iPhone
    - hard reset of the iPhone
    - removal and complete re-install of iTunes
    - disabling of bluetooth, wireless and networking on the Air (incase it was an IP conflict)
I have tried this on a different computer (mini mac running Windows XP) and I don't have any problems at all.
I am now out of ideas! I have tried a couple of things from the various forums as well but I haven't found anything which is resolving my problem. At the moment I now have an iPhone which has nothing on it because it cannot sync.
    Anyone got any ideas????????
    Regards
    Neil
    I am now out of

I have some more information - it's not an issue with iTunes/iPhone or sync cradle. I am now getting the same problem with a USB memory stick - I was quite happily using the memory stick to transfer files between my windows laptop and the airbook and after a while it started doing exactly the same think with it constantly connecting and disconnecting. I was mounting/unmounting correctly on both machines so it's not that - in /var/log/system.log i saw loads of these errors - disk1s1: media is not present.
I have just plugged my iPhone directly into the airbook and I have the following errors in /var/log/system.log - I wonder if this is actually something to do with the last security update which caused me no end of grief trying to connect to my company network.

  • IPhone 3G disconnects from iTunes partway through sync

A few days ago, I had to restore my iPhone 3G, at the same time upgrading to iOS4.1. It worked well after that, but now a few days later I'm having problems syncing with iTunes. I switched USB ports, rebooted the phone, and rebooted the computer, then reinstalled iTunes 9.2.1 (the last version available for Tiger). Here's what happens:
    Sync starts
Backup occurs to a certain point (somewhat further in after reinstalling iTunes, according to progress bar)
Phone chirps, shows up as no longer being charged (no lightning streak through battery), and spinning white circle appears on phone
Phone sometimes appears to continue to sync in iTunes, sometimes appears to disconnect
    Phone continues to chirp sporadically
Phone eventually shows white Apple logo
Phone not synced, e.g., podcasts not synced
The last and only backup is from 11/14/2010, which is the day I had to restore the phone. Does anyone have any ideas what the issue could be or what else I could do?

I don't know if this helps, but there are a number of low memory crash reports like this:

  • My iPhone when disconnected from iTunes shows that I do not have any music on it, but when I connect it to iTunes it all shows up under my phone.

I have tried absolutely everything from resetting all my sync options restarting my computer/iPhone....I have all the newest iTunes updates. please help!

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply.
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Once you are safely connected you can change the update setting to manual: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows

  • IPad disconnects from iMac during backup

I am trying to update my iPad to iOS 8 from iOS 7 and I am attempting to back it up first on my iMac. I keep getting the message in iTunes (on my iMac) that the iPad has disconnected. I have tried several USB ports, both on a hub which I usually do it from, and then from a USB port on the back of the iMac. I have rebooted both (I have been trying to do this since Saturday). The iPad is not quite 2 years old and is the larger, retinue screen model and, I think, the first model to offer a lightning connection. My iMac is a 2008 24 inch model. I have had no problem in the past doing this and my last good backup from the iPad is dated 09/07/2014. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ted

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Vdisk gets converted to type fixed from expandable during installation to native VHD...

I've tried everyway to Sunday to get work-arounds for this but I'm stumped...
I am breaking into the Windows 8.1 with Update installation after adding my license, and creating a setup to use Native VHD to install to.
I create a vdisk type=expandable, yet at some point during the installation it is getting converted to fixed!
I've tried everything I could think of including formatting it while in the CLI prior to refreshing the volumes, and selecting the VHD disk volume for installation.  Yet, after the installation is complete... the "actual" vdisk file should
only be around 11-14GB (regardless of the maximum size during its' creation with diskpart), however... sure enough, after Windows has finished doing its' thing and rebooting... the file ends up being the same size as the maximum property provided during the
vdisk creation with diskpart.... it should not be, it was of type "expandable" >.<
    Why is this happening?

    Hi,
It's not possible that without any settings, it converts into fixed disk. So how did you configure?
Please follow this guide to check if you have operated that:

  • Iphone 4 disconnects from Telus 3G network continuously while tethering

I have an iphone 4/iOS 4.1. I am in Canada subscribing to the Telus 3G cellular network. When tethering the iphone 4 to my notebook (WIFI turned off), the iphone simultaneously drops the tethering connection, drops the 3G connection and drops all bars on the strength indicator. It will stay disconnected for ~ 20 seconds then reconnect to the cellular network and re-establish the tethered connection. The iphone cycles through this series of events every 2 - 3 minutes indefinitely. It may take a few minutes to experience the first disconnect. I have had the same thing happen with 3 different iphone 4 units, all with iOS 4.1 on two different laptops, at 5 different cellular tower locations. This makes iphone 4 tethering on the Telus network all but unusable.
Has anyone else on the Telus network in Canada experienced this problem. If you haven't tried to tether the iphone to a computer and are on the Telus 3G network (without a WIFI connection in place)it would be greatly appreciated if you would try as per above and report back on your findings.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim. . .

My brother in law has also the same problem. Bell say that many people have this problem. They have escalated the problem with Apple. For now they are telling us that we have to wait for the next IOS version. Hope it is going to be sooner than the 4.2 version due in november.
The problem look like that there is a timeout problem on the connection like if the connection is inactive for more than 10 second it disconnect. If I keep clicking and changing pages I have a lot less problems.
In the meantime, instead of opening a internet radio station to keep the connection alive (witch use a lot of bandwith) as suggested by Claveall, I tried a small application call "stayalive pro" that was developped to keep dial-up connections on. I setup the application to ping servers every 5 second. It seem to work so far and use a lot less bandwith than listening to internet radio. Just tested it for 5 minutes or so. Let me know if it work for you.
BTW, my earlier comment that it was not related to carrier, I just forgot that Bell and Telus are using the same 3G network.

  • I discovered my iPhone has disconnected from my router

I tried to disconnect by getting my iPhone to forget it so I could re enter the password for my router but when I re entered my password it still said unable to connect! I cannot even save the password for it. I was wondering of anyone else has had this problem today or if it was just me. If so is there anything I can do to solve this problem. Any help I will be greatful for.

Try resetting your router. Easy fix for many problems, might just help yours.

  • IPhone App synch from a new installation of iTunes

    Hi all
My Macbook drive crashed. The Genius bar put a new harddrive in (and saved a bunch but not all of my files-yeah for them). They reinstalled my OS.
So I have a brand new version of iTunes.
When I go to try to sync my iPhone applications, i get this error message that says that it will erase all the apps currently on my phone with the ones listed in the iTunes list. The problem is that the list in iTunes doesn't match what is on my phone.
I have only ever had one iTunes/Apple login. I have downloaded apps both through the iTunes store on my computer and on the phone.
The missing apps are free ones, but also contain some paid ones that I don't think its right that I have to buy again.
Can anyone help? Do i have to go back to the Genius bar?
    Thanks
    Kerry

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When syncing an iPhone with an iTunes library on a new or a different computer and the same for transferring photos, all iTunes content and photos transferred from another computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
After installing a new hard drive, your MB is detected as a new or different computer.
If the Genius Bar was able to recover your entire iTunes named folder from the failed hard drive, which stores your entire iTunes library including 3rd party apps, and placed the iTunes named folder in the same location on your new hard drive, this wouldn't be a problem.
Since all 3rd party apps were obviously not recovered from your failed drive, you have a couple of options. Assuming you have re-authorized your MB with your iTunes account with iTunes, with your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If all 3rd party apps on your iPhone do not transfer to your new iTunes library on your MB, you can re-download the apps with iTunes on your MB and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.

  • Mac OS Photosmart C4700 "disconnected" from USB during wireless setup

My Photosmart C4795 printer has been connected to wireless on my Windows based PC at a different location. Now I have a Mac and I am living elsewhere, but when I try to use HP Setup Assistant and connect to a Wireless Network it recognizes the printer connected via USB; but, when it begins to search for wireless networks I get a message saying that I need to connect it via USB temporaily. It already recognized the printer through USB? I never unplugged the USB cable? I've already tried completely uninstalling my HP software and completely installing it again. No results. I've also used the printer's keys to reset the wireless network preferences to default. No results. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I can print via USB but the reason I got the printer in the first place was to print wirelessly.

    Hi Boltonet12,
I understand that you want to connect to your Mac OS wireless. I will try my best to help you with this issue.
Here is a document for Installing the Printer Software for a Wireless Network Connection (Using an Access Point) follow the steps for setting up on a Mac OS X.
I hope this information helps, please let me know how it goes.
