After the Update to 6.1.2. on my Iphone 4 the display opens App by himself without touching it - made several reinstallation incl. DFU Mode and manual update without any success. The Iphone mostly starts to open favorites and notices and video app - sometimes you can write SMS without any problem sometimes you are unable to touch the right butto.. If you touch the home button double and try to close apps but you are not able to close the apps or you did not get in the mode to close apps - ths iphone conditions is like new no scatches , never felt down , no water - just update from 5.0 to 6.12
PLS HELP - THANKS

Still having this issue - used to be able to connect prior to this update - The iPhone has no problem auto joining the local Cable WiFi - but still doesn't show the Time Capsule WiFi SSID's in the list. iPad and three other Macs see and can join the Time Capsule WiFi.

When syncing, check the Movies/TV Shows Tab in the iPhone menu, and make sure ALL movies are synced (or select the ones you want to sync)

Do you not understand English? The "idea" we have given you is TO TAKE THE PHONE TO AN APPLE STORE OR AUTHORIZED SERVICE PROVIDER!!!
If you want to follow the advice is up to you. No one here really cares what you do in the end.

    Force close apps
    1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
    2. Swipe the app's windows upwards to close
    3. The app will fly off the screen

  • Still cannot open App Store even after 10.6.8 Combo Update

Any help on this would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I need to get the App Store working so that I can re-install a Lion upgrade that I already purchased before. I had to replace my HD and now with 10.6.8, the App Store will not open.
I have installed the 10.6.8 Combo Update and then done the other software updates through the System Preferences.
This still comes up when I try to open App Store:
"App store cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure App Store works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

Try uninstalling the App Store app using this utility >  Download AppCleaner for Mac - Uninstall your apps easily. MacUpdate.com
Just moving the App Store app to the Trash doesn't delete all the associated files.
Then try the  Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.
See if that will reinstall the App Store so you can re download Lion.
At some point, you may need the original install discs even if that works.
Replacement disc(s) from Apple:   You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.

  • Apps not working after 2.0.1 update

After installing the new update when I try to use any of the apps I downloaded they open for a second and then close right away and return back to the app screen. Is this because of the update? anybody else experiencing this?

I had the same problem, solved 'buying' a free app from AppStore directly from the iPhone, via wifi.
    Hope this helps...

  • Iphone 4 turns off  at 20% after iso7.0.2 update any ideas

    Can any one help

    Hello Callykay,
I would be concerned too if my iPhone was unexpectedly powering off.  I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this.  I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • IPad Air Apps keep crashing after iOS 7.1 Update

Hi, I just upgraded to ios 7.1 on my ipad air. Everything was working fine before the update. But after, everytime I try to open any app, it attempts to start, but then immediately crashes. Even when I download an app from the app store, it still crashes. I have tried everything (restart, reset, hard reset, etc.) and I can't think of anything else to do but replace it which I don't want to do.

    Hello jscott1997,
It sounds like all your apps are closing when you open them, even new apps are doing the same thing. I recommend starting by closing all the open apps on the phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If it persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes with this article:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
And restore it from your backup with the steps in the following article. These steps will erase, and re install the iOS software, so that when you restore from the back up it is not restoring on top of the previous iOS installation:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414

    All the very best,

  • Iphone 5s calendar not accept entries after ios 7.1 update

after ios 7.1 update the iphone 5s calendar not accept entries but will accept entries from sync with outlook connection via my MS desktop outlook

So, sometimes you discover a "fix" totally by accident. I tried the following and it's worked for me 100% of the time so far. Any entries I make using this have appearded on my iPhone and on any device where I view my calendar. Hope this helps others:
    Open your calendar and then view it in the "month view";
Tap the hybrid view icon which is at the top to the left of the search icon at the top right of the screen; you'l see a list of the days activities at the the bottom of the screen.
Now, tap the "+" icon at the top to the right of the search icon. This will allow you to type in the event, time, date, etc that you want to enter.
Click "done" at the top right when finished. Now, you should see the event that you just entered at the bottom of the screen under the days activities. That should "stick" even if you close the calendar, or whatever. When I checked, it also showed up as it should on other devices. You can edit events, delete them, etc--it's worked for me.
I'm not sure why this worked--or what it's the only way to be able to enter an event since the move to iOS 7.1--but it's working for me--so why ask why??

  • Macbook Pro Retina display says "No batteries available" after legitimate system software update

    Issue Description
On July 26, 2012 I placed an order with Apple store for the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display with the following configuration (Order # W269108641 Serial# C02J52S9DKQ5):
    Processor 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Memory 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM, Flash Storage 512GB Flash Storage
It was delivered August 8, 2012. It cost me $3,265.16
I have since equipped it with accessories like a wireless apple keyboard ($69), wireless mouse ($69), USB super drive ($79), VGA display adapter ($29), Ethernet Adapter ($29) and the excellent sleeve/pouch from Pack & Smooch GmbH (GBP60))
It's so heavily configured because it’s my main workstation. I additionally bought and installed Parallels 8 so I can run Windows 8 in a Virtual Machine because I have a few things on Windows that I need to be productive. This setup has been a dream machine until a little over a week ago.
    In the one year since I bought it, I have had only 2 issues;
    • A case of display flickering that resulted after a system software update on August 28, 2013
(Case ID 498560320 - not much help came from Apple Support but fortunately the problem went away a week later after another system software update)
    • A case of battery failure that resulted after a system software update on October 11, 2013
(Case ID 516534003 - I have gone through all recommendations from Apple support as I will detail below)
    Symptoms after system software update
    • Battery Icon on status bar disabled with a message "No batteries available"
    • Battery not charging
    • LED on the Magsafe power adapter no longer show
    • Keyboard backlights no longer show
    • Notebook fan loud/noisy and permanently at high speed
    • Date and time reset to a date in the past at each restart
    • Notebook starts up the moment the Magsafe adapter is connected without waiting for power button to be pressed
    • An update for "MacBook Pro Retina Display SMC Update 1.2" keeps appearing in Software Update
    Recommendations from Apple Support
    • Perform SMC Reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964)
(Done - no change in status)
    • Run Disk Utility
    (Done - no errors found)
    • Run Apple Hardware test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)
(Done - no errors found, no change in status)
    • Visit Apple Store
(Done - they confirmed no issue with Magsafe adapter. For a fee they are happy to change the battery if confirmed faulty and re-install the OS if the battery is not the issue but am uncertain that the OS re-install will resolve the issue because I have read online about a similar case where a re-install did not resolve the issue)
    • Check System Report/Hardware/Power
(Done - Health Information/Cycle count:0, Battery installed: No)
    • Perform NVRAM Reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379?viewlocale=en_US)
(Done - no change in status)
    Comments and additional Observations
    Please note the following;
    • All of the symptoms above appeared after a system software update on October 11, 2013
    • This update first appeared on October 10, 2013 but I was too busy to apply it especially because it required a system restart
    • The battery was fully charged when I decided to apply the update on October 11 morning after I got to work
    • Normally on full charge, the battery will typically deliver 3 - 4 hours depending on usage and up to 6 hours when idle
    • The said update was not interrupted or anything of the sort
    • On the day the symptoms were first observed when I first logged the case with apple, the system ran on battery while it performed the Apple Hardware Test while I was driving to the Apple support store on my way home even though the status bar was indicating "No battery available"
I make the following deductions solely based on my observations
    • An apple authorized system software update broke the system
    • The nature of the failure is communication related - the battery charging circuit and related systems are not getting the necessary instructions to function as they should (It's a known fact that rechargeable batteries do NOT die instantaneously, the total hours they run on full charge will gradually reduce over time as they degrade on use)
    • It’s possible the update is not being applied correctly because the item “MacBook Pro Retina Display SMC Update 1.2” is still in Software update after subsequent attempts to apply it
    • The high fan speed is nothing to do with high temperature or high processor load, according to the Activity Monitor utility the highest CPU utilization 1.9 – 4.7% is by kernel_task (PID 0) followed by activitymonitord at 1.8 – 2.2% (PID 481)
    • The symptoms match what an SMC reset should resolve according to Apple documentation
    • This is a known problem within Apple based on the documentation provided and the numerous similar cases reported online
    Summary;
The system is running OS X 10.8.5
I have provided this detailed documentation in the hope that someone who understands this system can say exactly what is going on. It's meant to be a dream machine but now you can hear the fan from across a large room, the battery doesn't charge and is in fact not recognized so I lose data if the Magsafe adapter gets unplugged, and I have to reset the system date each time I restart the notebook.
I've used this notebook with utmost care for a little more than a year, this investment of over $3,500 could have bought 3 high end notebooks from DELL or HP but I chose Apple.
I have suffered untold loss in productivity in the last 10 days since this issue occurred, I respectfully request Apple to fix my notebook.

  • IPhone 5S trapped in recovery mode after mistake made in update process.

My iPhone 5S is trapped in recovery mode after I option-clicked "update" and selected the iOS 7.1 beta build 11D5099e ipsw, when I needed to option click "restore" before doing so. I'm really getting desperate because I have no backups of my iPhone anywhere (not icloud or computer), and cannot boot out of reecovery mode. I can put the device into DFU mode, but it makes no difference. Attempting to update the iphone to ios 7.1 from recovery mode produces error #17. Attempting to update the iphone to 7.1 from DFU mode produces error #11. Both errors are not mentioned in apple's updating and restoring support page. Before I try just clicking "restore", is there anything else that I can do? Restoring the phone is NOT an option, as I have a ton of data on it.
Please don't just say "no", because that's not very helpful. If there's truly nothing I can do, and I mean NOTHING, because I am fairly tech savy and can perform pracically any solution you give me, then I will accept that and just restore the phone.
But if there is ANYTHING I can do, tell me...
    Please...
TL; DR: My iPhone 5S is trapped in recovery mode and I refuse to restore it unless it is my only option. Is there anything else I can do to fix it?

Actually, I just fixed it with tinyumbrella. I thought I had already tried it when I posted this, but I guess not.

  • Cannot open gh2 rw2 files after 10.7.4 update

I'm having trouble opening Panasonic GH2 raw (.rw2) files after 10.7.4 update. I cannot view them in quick view or open them in Preview.
I verfied on a another Mac running 10.7.3 - works fine; and then immediately after 10.7.4 update it does not work.
    Any remedies?

I started a similar thread (before I noticed this one), and someone replied by pointing me to the helpful thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3942768?start=30&tstart=0
I tried the suggestion, and it fixed the problem for me.
You need to execute this command in the terminal (and I believe you may need to do it separately for each user on your computer):
    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -R /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library
I'm not sure how the above command gets formatted, but make sure that it is all one command and that there are only spaces before and after the "-R"
If you want to understand what the above command does, check out the thread I linked to.
