Iphone 4 does not stay connected to my network

Since upgrading to 6.1, my iPhone 4 does not stay connected to my network.  I have to input my password each time I leave my house.  My other devices stay connected, so the issue is with the upgrade.  Has anyone found a way to keep their IPhone connected to their network?  Thanks.

I don't have another phone to try. I took out the sim to check for deffects but it looked fine. Cleaned the sim card with alcohol and cleaned the aim compartment. Phone didn't loose Internet connection all day yesterday, but this morning went to check emails and wouldn't update until I turned airplane mode on then off again.

When using apps or when in sleep mode my iphone does not stay connected to my wi-fi. All other items within the house have no issues with staying connected to my wi-fi.

By design, when entering sleep mode, the iPhone will disconnect from WiFi to conserve battery. If you want the WiFi connection to remain persistent, plug your phone into a power source.

  • IPhone does not stay connected to iTunes

This doesn't happen to me every day or every time that i want to sync my iPhone, but maybe at least once a week or twice a week maybe...very strange.
So one day i was trying to sync my iPhone to my 2.4GHz MacBook Pro, and iTunes never opened (or if it was opened, it never detected the connection). I tried this numerous times in all 3 USB ports on the sides of my Mac.
An Erase & Install was recently done and restore from a Time Machine backup probably 3 months ago.
I wanted to make sure that it wasn't the USB cable, so i tried plugging it into the wall outlet to charge...of course, that worked.
So it's not the cable...but why is it not being recognized from either one of my USB ports? This particular day, i must have tried numerous times plugging it in to the different ports and it either never made the connection, or if it did...it would connect for a split second, start to sync, then disconnect in the middle of it....re-connect, dis-connect, re-connect...etc....back and forth and it wouldn't finish syncing.
I purchased the original iPhone on Day 1, June 29th, 2007, but this particular iPhone in question i just received as a replacement about 2 months ago....along with a new USB cable, AC wall plug, and dock....all replaced.
So i went down to the new Apple store that just opened up here in Pa a few weeks ago to have a Genius take a look at it. He plugged it into his computer there - it connected right away but he didn't leave it plugged in to see if the connection would stay or not, he just unplugged it and basically said there was nothing wrong with it.
So what exactly is it? It won't even let me restore it without it disconnecting...help please!? Thank you
    Jason

    Jason,
    Your troubleshooting:
"I was trying to sync my iPhone to my 2.4GHz MacBook Pro, and iTunes never opened"
"I tried this numerous times in all 3 USB ports on the sides of my Mac."
"I tried plugging it into the wall outlet to charge...of course, that worked." (not your Mac.)
    Apple store troubleshooting:
"He plugged it into his computer there - it connected right away..."
... his computer. (once again, not your Mac.)
    See the pattern?
I will assume that you didn't take your Mac Book to the store for the Genius to check with your iPhone since you said he plugged it into his computer. Go back, but this time take your MacBook to the store as well. The problem might be in the connection between your iPhone and your computer. If that's where the problem exists, and not with the phone or cable, there's nothing the Genius could do. Pain in the butt to schlep your laptop to the store, I know, but it could help you get an answer. I'm surprised the "Genius" didn't suggest that to you.

  • IPhone does not stay connected to TC.

I am posting here since the iPhone maintains its connections with all other WiFi routers (and my iMac).
The TC is new, replacing the Airport Extreme with whom the iPhone strayed connected.
The iPhone automatically reconnects to my iMac when I go out to my other office.
The iPhone even reconnects by itself in restaurants that I haunt...
but walk into my home where Time Capsule lives -- no WiFi connection unless I manually choose it in Settings.
My dear old PowerBook 12" maintains its connections perfectly with the TC.
Any ideas? Any mysterious TC settings I need to discover?
    Thank you in advance...

    Fixed!
I found a tip on the iPhone discussions group...
Just go to the WiFi section of Settings, touch the right blue arrow next to the network's name, then touch "Forget this Network" -- this resets the historical data.
Now go back to the WiFi section and touch the network's name to join it.
Your iPhone should automatically rejoin your TC network!

  • 58L7300U - Wifi does not stay connected

Comcast cable using a Xfinity branded ARRIS TG862 Wireless SOHO Router.
Two Toshiba 58L7300U TVs mounted on walls in residence.
LAN is setup and stable.  The Router has been properly configured using WPA2 AES encryption.  All computers (Apple, Microsoft Surface, Dell and Toshiba) access WiFi with no problems.  All Smart Phones access WiFi with no problem.
The two Toshiba 58L7300U -  they have a problem.  Even PC Magazine has noted the issue in their test lab.
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2428099,00.asp
"The 50L7300U supports Wi-Fi networking, but the set was unable to stay connected to any of our wireless access points here in the labs. It saw each access point and would connect for a brief moment, but each time it would lose the connection. The wired LAN connection worked perfectly, however."
We've been through every possible setup.  I was on the phone with Toshiba for 2 hours and they finally capitulated there was a problem.
Both TVs were purchased just prior to Chistmas 2013.  They both have software version 7.2.67.31.01.1 (5/22/14).
If we get the TV to access WiFi I can use PING -T to ping the TV IP address.  Yet the TV would say it can't get a connection.  It is on the LAN.  It has a TCP/IP stack and it can been seen from the POV of the Router and can be seen by another computer on the LAN.
One TV could get access, for a while.  It could access Pandora and YouTube content.  Then it LOST the ability out of the blue.  Othertimes the TV would see the SSID and from the Router POV I would enable WPS and then have the TV do a "scan".  Then it  it would say it can't find an Wireless Access Point.  I have done setups via;  manual, assisted and use WPS.
All I can say is that there is a BUG in the software of the 58L7300U in accessing a Wireless Fidelity networks and for a $1,000 per TV that's atrocious.
Personally, I'd hard wire the units but the owner doesn't want that.
The owner spent $2K, and wants the product to properly access WiFi.

If you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network or your iPhone. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
First, test your iPhone on some other WiFi networks: work (apparently has problems), a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.
If it works well there then the problem is probably with your network. Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
If your iPhone does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. You could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to see if that corrects the problem. If not, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPhone is bad.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

  • IPhone 4S not staying connected to wifi?

I have both iPad and iPhone connected to same wifi, but my iPhone 4S does not stay connected.  I have tried to reset network, restart iPhone and they do connect but disconnects shortly afterwards.  Can anyone help me?

Did you solve this problem? My new MacBook Pro 15" running 10.8.2 has exactly the problem you describe with our new Netgear N600. The other devices in our house (iMac running 10.5, a PC and an iPhone 3Gs) have no connectivity probelms at all.
I have no problem connecting with my MBP at work or elsewhere. The problem is just at home with the N600.

  • WiFi does not stay connected after latest upgrade

I am having an issue with the WiFi connection on my Iphone 4 after the latest 4.3 upgrade.
It does not stay connected to the wifi. I have to go and manually connect to it.
Then after a couple of seconds it loses it again.
    Why is this

"I'm not sure why yours is doing it but I would suggest your reboot your router and reset the iPhone network settings.
If you are hiding your SSID, do the last step which is tap Settings > WiFi > Other and completely re-enter your network name, security, and network password."
Been there, done that... Did ALL these steps, but that does not fix the problem... AFTER inputting the SSID manually, selecting security, and then the password, iPhone STILL says it cannot connect...

  • Does not automatically connect to wireless network anymore

Mac Book does not automatically connect to know networks any longer.

    Hi sashton,
When troubleshooting Wi-Fi connectivity issues, I find the following resource has the most relevant information:
Troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues in OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628
Furthermore, you may want to avoid giving your network a common name. While the following article (and excerpt) refer to iOS devices, the same applies for your Mac:
Avoid giving your wireless network a common name (SSID)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4450
If you were to give your wireless network a common name (SSID), users of your network who use iOS devices [sic] and are away from your network would run the risk of joining a different network with the same name. Having joined the unexpected network, they would be exposed to potential data theft.
Because of this security issue, Apple maintains a list of common or ambiguous SSIDs, including the default SSID for many commercially available access points, as well as the SSIDs "wireless" and "default". If your network's name is on the list, any iOS device [sic] that joins the network stores the access point's BSSID and associates it with the network's SSID. Subsequently, it will only auto-join the network if the access point's BSSID matches the information the device has stored. This avoids joining a different network with the same name.
Therefore, you may want to refer to the following article when configuring your Wi-Fi router:
iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

  • Why is my iPhone 5 not staying connected to my wi-fi

Why is my iPhone 5 not staying connected to my wi-fi

I am so flippen ticked. I have been a iPhone, 3, 4,4S user for ever. I now made the mistake of going to an iphone 5 with update to iOS 6.0.1.
I cannot keep a wi-fi connection for the life of me. Nor can I keep even the weakest of signals to my cell carrier even if the phone sits still in one spot. While at the same time my ipad 3 with iOS 6.0.1 sitting right next to the phone has been up on the same carrier and wi-fi source for hours.
I am about to through the phone in the river and swear off Apple. This is frustrating after I use to talk about how good an iPhone was. Very Very disapointed.

  • IPhone 4 does not stay connected to internet over 3G+

I have an iPhone 4 on the telus network running the latest version of the os 4.3.3. My phone will not stay connected to the Internet most of the time. It looses connection and won't reconnect until I turn on airplane mode and then turn it back off. It also looses connection if I have wifi on and it detects a network but choose not to connect to it. I have restored my phone and it fixed the problem for half a day before it started again. I only have a couple months warranty left, is this covered do you think?

I don't have another phone to try. I took out the sim to check for deffects but it looked fine. Cleaned the sim card with alcohol and cleaned the aim compartment. Phone didn't loose Internet connection all day yesterday, but this morning went to check emails and wouldn't update until I turned airplane mode on then off again.

  • HP Officejet 6500A Plus not staying connected to wireless network

Just picked up a HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - E710n the other week and set it all up and it was working wonderfully. But I noticed after it goes into sleep mode it disconnects from the wireless network and doesn't reconnect.
I will get a overview of how I have it all set up.
I have a DSL modem with a TRENDnet TEW-639GR router connected to it. I have set my router to reserve IP addresses for the computer and printer. That way I can leave the computer and printer wireless IP settings as automatic and they will always get the same IP address. I do this for the wireless network at my parents place as well and it works perfectly with their HP Photosmart C7280.
I also set up the HP ePrintCenter feature on the printer so that I can print by sending the printer an email. When I first set it all up this was working great. I tested it all and it was awesome. When I would log onto the ePrint website it would show as connected and it was all good.
So then what happened was it was all fine then the next day when we want to print something the computer says the printer is offline. I go on the HP ePrintCenter website and it says not connected. I print out a wireless network report page and it says not connected. After I printed that test page, I guess it woke up the printer enough or something as it then connected to the router and printed fine as well as showed up as connected on the ePrintCenter website. So all was good. Then the next day the printer goes to sleep and again it shows as disconnected.
Should it not be staying connected in sleep mode? How will the printer know something is being sent to it and that it should wake up if it is not staying connected?
Any suggestions of what I should change with the settings? I suppose I could try setting the IP settings as static on the printer itself but I shouldn't need to as I set it to static on the router. When it finally does reconnect it does always keep the same IP. If that is what is required I guess I could do that but then what is the point in having an automatic setting if it doesn't work? I would rather have this issue fixed that have to do a work around for it.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
The printer should stay connected to your wireless network after the printer enters the sleep mode.
This is not an expected behavior.
I believe such an issue may be caused due to a signal quality or any conflict as too many broadcust on the same channel.
Please try the following steps in order to better understand the issue:
Follow the Wireless Setup Wizard if your printer currently disconnected
    Enter the Setup menu.
    Enter the Network menu.
    Click Wireless.
    Click Wireless Test Report.
What is the signal quality provided by the report and what channel used to broadcast by your router?
If you may scan and attach the report, it may help to better understand any possible cause.

    Shlomi

  • Iphone will not stay connected "invalid response received from the device."

I have an older iPhone (8gb) and for some reason whenever I plug it into the usb port on my computer it will not stay connected whatsoever. Itunes freaks out, it'll come up for a little bit and then just as soon as it appeared, 'Josh's iPhone' disappears. When I say "won't stay connected" I mean you'll hear the "new usb device" sound over and over again continuously and the iPhone goes crazy too. Like it's connected, disconnecting, connecting, disconnecting, etc.. The error I get during all this madness is "itunes could not connect iPhone because it received an invalid response from the device."
I've used this ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1286 ) link to no avail (yet.) I am about to restart my computer right now. If it works after that I'll just simply delete this post. But anyway it's in a usb 2.0, it's plugged directly into the computer, etc etc
Also I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but I put ringtones on the phone as well, I tried adding about 5 or 6 of them through itunes and it only uploaded two of them, except one of those two appears FOUR TIMES.
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

Okay, after the updates I am still having the same problem. I'll try explaining it as detailed as possible, hoping somebody has an answer because this is pretty weird to me.
    -I have 5 files, Ringtone1.m4r, Ringtone2.m4r, Ringtone3.m4r, Ringtone4.m4r and Ringtone5.m4r.
-I add them to the "ringtones" section under "Devices"
-ON ITUNES they show up perfectly fine. In order, and if I play them through itunes, all the ringtones are correct, just how they should be.
-I eject iPhone, go to settings > sounds > ringtone, and under custom, what I see is:
    Ringtone1
    Ringtone1
    Ringtone1
    Ringtone1
    Ringtone1
Why on Earth could this be?

  • IPhone 4 Not Staying Connected to my m1424wr router

my iphone 4 is not staying connected to the m1424wr router.  how do i start the process with FIOS to check the rouret or get it swapped out?

What version of code do you have on the IPHONE?  So, you could be in the middle of downloading email and it will disconnect?  What are you seeing?  The reason I ask is I have had different rev's of Actiontec, different apple devices and never really had a problem outside of some software fixes I've seen.
Do you live in a house or apartment?  Is there interference from other wireless LAN deviecs?

  • Under Yosemite iMac will not stay connected to ethernet network

    Mac OS X 10.10.1
When attached to Netgear Prosafe gigabit unmanaged switch (circa 2007) iMac Retina, Mac Pro, Macbook Pro will not stay connected to Apple Airport managed ethernet LAN. With Sys Prefs Network panel open I can watch the ethernet connect and disconnect on a periodic basis (about every 15 secs!). When same machines are connected to ethernet ports on the Airport itself, connections are steady and permanent. I suspect incompatibility with networking protocol used by Netgear but assuming their protocol is standard the incompatibility must be in Yosemite. Did NOT have this problem under Mavericks with any of my machines.
Is my only alternative to order a new gigabit switch? If so, have protocols changed in the intervening 6 years such that Yosemite is not compatible with older switches?

Well, my 6 year old netgear gigabit switch must have been partially failing because when I replaced it with the current model (same specs, same model name, but sold as an updated model??) things are now going fine. Getting gigabit network speeds on all computers and 100% reliable connection. Guess it was just a coincidence that my Yosemite update and the switch failure occurred at the same time.

  • HT4623 I want to purchase a ipad 32gb in the larger size but have read many bad reviews that the wifi does not stay connected and I don't want to have to buy another data package as I already own an iphone that i pay data for, what are my concerns

I want to purchase an ipad 32gb in the larger size buy have read many bad reviews that they have problems staying connected to wifi.  I don't want to have to buy a data package so I only want the wifi one.  I already pay apple for my iphone data and I can't afford more money.  Why are there so many bad reviews and are the newer ones that much better, according to many reviews they are not. Please help

I already pay apple for my iphone data
You pay your carrier for data, not Apple.
Why are there so many bad reviews
Where? Regardless, there are always going to be a handful of people having some sort of issue with any given device, but I would not therefore assume that you would be one of them.
