Iphone 4 doesnt play sound through speakers

My IPhone 4 doesnt play any sound when I'm playing a game or any app but when i play music it works fine. How do i fix this?

Can't play sounds through speakers but only through earphones

I got my new iPad2 yesterday and for a while I was able to play sounds through the speakers. Today speaker did not work anymore and I suspect it is related to the upgrade to the new iOS 4.3.3 that I did just before putting it to sleep. Can anybody help?

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and its the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. Playing sound through speakers

Whenever I start a Skype call, it forces all of the other sounds on my computer to the speakers. So I am left with only Skype coming through my headphones, and everything else coming through the speakers of my computer.

To others having this problem, I think I have found a solution. When I checked my audio mixer (which can be found my right clicking the speaker icon on your task bar) I found that my Skype audio was playing through my headphones. It said this regardless of my headphones actually being plugged in or not. So I clicked on the headphone button and disabled it (at the bottom of the menu). This seems to have fixed my problem.

Some apps won't play sound through iPad2 speakers

I've noticed since updating to iOS 5 and 5.0.1, I've got more apps that won't play sound through ipad2 speakers, but will play sound through earphones though. Using the same app on the iphone plays sound through the iphone speakers as normal.
It seems to be picky with which apps it does this to as Sky News/BBCiplayer/YouTube/Video/ IMDb all play sound through ipad speakers. Apps like FilmOn plus/ FreeAppMagic/ Falling Gems/ Bejeweled2/ FNS Shift2 will only play sound through earphones. These Apps updating to the new iOS doesn't fix the sound issue either.
I can use an app that plays sound through iPad speakers, then use an app that doesn't play sound through the speakers, then use another app that does play sound through speakers, so the earphone connection actuator doesn't look like the problem to me. Maybe some sound drivers may have been lost or deleted with new iOS updates over wifi...?
Any help would be appreciated.

See if perhaps this is the reason why some apps aren't playing sound.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

If the phone has ever gotten wet it may be damaged. It may also have dirt or a bent pin in the dock connector or the earphone jack. Try cleaning the dock connector and inspecting it with a magnifying glass. Try inserting and removing the earphone plug several times. If you have restored it and that did not fix the problem damage is the most likely cause.

Have you tried another pair of earphones? It may be that the headphone jack is failing. You can, if you are competent, replace it yourself or get it fixed by a third-part place. See the following:

Windows 7 on my iMac won't play sounds through headphones

On Windows 7, I can't make sounds play through my headphones plugged into the audio jack; the internal speakers always do it instead. The headphones don't appear in the "Playback devices" column, even though RealTek recognises that something's been plugged in/unplugged to it.
Also, the latest version of Boot Camp software drivers I burned to a DVD after upgrading to Lion (v.4.0) refuses to start; it keeps saying that 'Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model"; I was able to install the v.3.0 drivers by using "Troubleshoot compatability" within the Drivers/Apple/BootCampx64 before, but now it insists I use setup.exe- which refuses to install, even in compatability mode!
It's incredibly aggravating, since I always use my good headphones for gaming so I don't disturb my wife! Help!

So the Bootcamp 4.0 drivers won't work with my 2008 iMac? I'm running 3.3 then, and the problem persists.
I've just tried uninstalling the RealTek drivers; Windows seems to auto-install a "High Definition Audio Device" that DOES play sounds through the headphones... albeit incredibly quietly. Barely perceptible at full volume. I've tried to install the Cirrus drivers from the 4.0 Bootcamp disk; they claim to install correctly (in less than a second, which makes me skeptical), but they still don't appear.
It seems I can have Realtek and no headphones, or no Realtek and minimal sound...

On my mac through itunes, I am able to control Apple TV sound through a master and two sub master volumes.
One being my Apple TV volume (HDTV) , and the other being my mac (internal speakers).
That being said, it might be possible to on iPAD through itunes (music).

My IPhone wont play sound. Works fine in a dock, but once I pull it out it stops playing. It wont play music or ring. It will only vibrate.
I know the speakers work because it'll play for two seconds then stop playing once out of dock.

Play Sound Through Display AND Connected Computer.

I bought and connected my new 27" LED Display to my 27" iMac today and would like to know if its possible to play sound through both the display AND the computer at the same time. I know to go into the sound settings in system preferences, however only the option is given to chose the sound output to come from either one or the other.
Is it possible to play the audio through both?

I downloaded this program with the provided link - after changing the settings as advised I began to get that loud static white noise like sound out of the iMac speakers (which apparently is a problem many people have experienced with their 27" i7 iMacs). As soon as I deleted the Audio Hijack program the speakers went back to normal. (Thank God!)
If anyone else has any suggestions as to how I can play sound through both the iMac and the display at the same time this would be great appreciated.

HDMI Stopped playing sound through tv?

I've been using my HDMI 12 months and its aways worked perfectly but today, it stopped playing sound through the tv. I have gone onto the sound play back options as suggested on this sight but the HDMI option isn't showing and when I go on the speakers and headphones option it won't let me click the set default option. I haven't done anything new to my lap top, so not sure why its all of a sudden stopped working. Any advice on how I can get the sound back ?

I just recently purchased a new headset for gaming but have been having some issues with it and the system sound. One major issue is when I call someone on skype, the sound from Skype or the call will go through the headphones, but any other audio comes out of the speakers. I have also notices that iTunes also does not function when I am in a call as well. Some examples would be if I were to want to watch a YouTube video while in a call, the sound would come through the speakers and not the headphones. However, I did find a fix for it. All I had to do was disable the main speakers and the audio was transmitted to the headphones. Another example would be if I wanted to run games via Steam (Garry's Mod, TF2, ect.), I wouldn't get any sound whatsoever from the game. Not through my speakers or headphones. With one exception, Garry's Mod volume I can hear through the speakers while in a Skype call, but I want the sound to come through the headphones. But with TF2, I get no sound whatsoever. If you need any more information about my issue, please feel free to ask. Thank you.

I have read your post on how certain programs are transmitting sound through speakers and not the headphones, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure that your headphones are utilized when plugged into your notebook, I recommend following the steps below:
1. Click the Start button
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click on Hardware and Sound (sorting the control panel icons by "category"), and then click on Sound
4. Under Playback, you should see one or two speaker icons. One of them should already have a green checkmark next to it (which will be your notebook's main speakers). If the second Speakers icon is not visible, right-click in the list of devices and select Show Disabled Devices
5. A second, disabled icon of "speakers" should appear. Right-click this icon and click Enable
6. Select the newly enabled speaker device, right-click it, and select "Set as Default Device".
7. Click Apply.

Apple Tv Won't play sound through analog RCA input

I just bought the new Apple TV and the picture is working but the sound is not
I have been reading around and found that since the apple tv is toslink (digital) and my receiver is RCA (analog) i would need an adaptor for the sound

I have a similar problem.
I have connected my newly purchased Apple TV to my Denon-790 7.1 AV Receiver. It plays just fine on "Zone 1", which is 5.1 surround, but it will not play sound through "Zone 2". The Denon website says that the audio inputs for Zone 2 must be analogue.
Here is my problem: I bought the Apple TV SPECIFICALLY to play digital radio / iTunes on Zone 2, so my wife can listen to music whilst at the other end of the house. If I don't solve the problem, she will accuse me of once again spending money on fancy technology, when a radio will do just as well!
