IPhone 4 - dSLR pictures and contacts
First off, just want to say that the retina display is great! However I have been having problems with my high resolution pics taken from my dSLR (Canon T2i).
When I load up the pictures on my iPhone they look great within the picture library on the phone. However, when I add a pictures of a contact to their contact info, their picture shows up distorted when they call in. Anyone having this problem? It's disappointing especially when I know the retina display is more than capable. Also, I don't think that the size of the pictures is the problem - they are less than 2mb big.
It's probably the size ratio. From memory the iPhone will 'stretch' the image to fill the screen. the best bet would be to edit the photo beforehand to the right dimensions (960px x 640px)

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created. -
My New iphone 5 was synced on my sisters computer and now when i want to use it all of my things are gone, including my pictures and contacts. they have all been replaced with her contacts and pictures. how do i get my things back? i have tried syncing with my computer again but since it was new and i hadnt synced it at all, there is no backup on my computer.

Then anything you had on the phone is gone.
Settings>General>Resets>Erase All Content and Settings.
Set it up as a new device again. -
i was having problems with my phone so i went into the apple store and it turns out there was a problem with my operating systerm so i got an update in the store. I want to get my contacts and my pictures back from my old iphone but when I was in the apple shop the man told me to start the phone as a new phone instead of restoring it from an earlier back up as i could get the bug back once restored, is there any way for me to get my pictures and contacts back without restoring it and getting the bug? Thanks
You should restore from the back up so you can get the info back on your device. Then, what you can do is import those pictures to your computer.
At that point, you'll want to restore again as new possibly, then once your phone is as new, use iTunes to sync those picture from your computer back to your phone.
As far as contacts, do you know if those were ever backed up to iCloud? If so, all you should need to do is sign in with you iCloud account. -
Hi, I got a new iPhone that I havent uploaded to my iTunes yet I had pictures and contacts. I accidentally said to restore it as my old iTouch. Is there a way I can change it back to my old iPhone and get my pictures and contacts back?
You would need to check if you made a back up of the iPhone on iTunes/iCloud before you restored from the ipod touch back up. If there isnt then im sorry that data is gone.

I backed up my iphone and now the pictures and contacts are gone and will not reload back onto phone.
Connect it to your computer. Launch iTunes. Click on the phone's name. Click "Restore from backup".

When I went to sync my iPhone, I accidently hit restore and it made my iPhone have all of the settings of my iPod Touch, erasing my iPhone pictures and contacts. Is there any way to get everything back?
Not to doubt you, but something sounds fishy. I can see accidentally clicking Restore, but to load your Touch's information you would have had to select your Touch's backup file after restoring, which would be hard to do by accident -- unless your iPhone and Touch have the same name?
In any case, your iPhone should have its own backup file on your computer. You can click Restore again and this time select the iPhone's backup file (there should be a device name and date associated with the pop-up window at the end of the restore process). This process will erase your iPhone, reload the OS, and then when you select your backup file then all your iPhone settings, data, sync options, etc. will be re-loaded, including your media (if you auto-sync ... if you manually manage music and video on the iPhone then you'll need to re-select the items you want loaded onto it). -

MMy iPhone was synced with my computer and the cloud. After re syncing, pics and contacts remain in cloud and computer but won't sync to my iPhone. Even my IT guy at work is stumped! I would love to have all my pics and contacts back on my phone. I have not yet updated my iPad d air because I'm afraid the same thing will happen.

After I saw that everything was deleted, I hit the back up and only my contacts and photos from May 2010 came back. I then hit 'restore' and all my contacts deleted once again. I just want my pictures and contacts back from before I updated this software!!
if you wanna get back your pictures and notes restore your friend iphone on your pc but make sure that your friend had the same name of your iphone and the same verison of the old sofware before you update , after that all your contact and note and everything are on your friend iphone , you can copy them in a way or another , I did this with my sister iphone , no matter what is the two iphone's generation the sofware verison is the trick xxx

If this is becuase you cannot access your old account I would try everything first before making a new account.

If you delete the icloud account from your device it will remove the photostream and documents stored in the cloud from the device (if you're using iwork or another app that uses icloud to sync documents).
Photos from the camera roll will still be there.
It will ask if you want to keep the contacts, calendars, reminders, and bookmarks.
If you want to save your contacts choose "Keep on my iphone"
If you create a new apple ID you won't lose anything except your previous purchases, meaning if you wanted to redownload that app you paid for before, you will have to pay for it again with the new ID. -
how do i erase pictures and contacts on my ipod nano 2G without restoring ipod? i have synced several pictures on it before and now want to delete them, i uncheck the "sync photos from" but the pictures are still there... thank you

My iPhone 4S accidentally fell into a very shallow bit of water. The phone was wet, but worked afterwards for a short bit. Now it's not working, so I called and got a replacement phone coming. Same exact phone. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone without harming anything? I don't know if the sim card got messed up or not, but I had a lot of pictures and messages and my contacts on my phone, and I assume these were on the sim card or am I wrong? I just wan to know if I can use the old sim card if it's still working in the new phone that is coming, as long as there was no damage to it? Thanks
I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.
Ralph - F.Y.I. I would be happy to back up the iPhone if I could turn it on LOL......I am pretty positive I did, but what about Text messages? ANY of those saved too or not? Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. I just hope my stuff comes back on the new replacement phone once I get it up and running. Again, thanks to everybody for the edumucation. -

I just bought a new iPhone 4. It has a bunch of picture, songs and contacts on it. Is it possible or was I given a preowned phone?
More likely you had a phone that was selected for QA before it was shipped from the factory and the QA people forgot to wipe the phone before shipping.

If the device has been used as designed, contacts would be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service and pictures taken with the device would be regularly copied off to a computer.
