IPhone 4 - Error 9 during Restore

Hi there,
I'm trying to Restore the iPhone but Error 9 keeps popping up. The iPhone is literally a dud now just stuck on the screen with the cable and iTunes symbol.
I've tried doing the Restore on a 13" MB Pro, iMac and Windows Vista 64 bit, all bringing up the same error. I am running iTunes 9.2.1 on all machines.
Any advice or info appreciated.
Thanks.

i agree mate the restore should fix the problem but guess what, it forces itunes to do the update. SO update is faulty and restores forces the update see the problem
Does the iPhone come with a warranty?
All iPhones, including reconditioned models, come with a 1 year limited Manufacturers warranty. If your iPhone experiences technical issues within a year of purchase, then the product can be returned to the point of purchase with a valid till receipt or other proof or purchase to enable repair, replacement or refund as appropriate. If you buy online, the easiest way to organise a repair or exchange is via Apple online, alternatively contact customer services.

  • Phone error during restore

    Hello,
    Today my phone got stuck on "Searching for Signal." After talking with Verizon, I decided to do a restore.  It took several tries to get it to go, and now it keeps getting an error 1669 during "Restoring iPhone firmware."  I haven't dropped it anytime recently and have an otterbox on it.

    Has your phone been jailbroken before you tried to restore? If yes, this is the cause for this error number.

  • Error during restore/recovery and 'open resetlogs'

    Hello forum. I'm attempting to restore a database to a new host and have run into an error during the opening of the database (with resetlogs). The renaming of the datafiles, restore, switching of datafiles, and recovery are all done by an rman script, the contents of which are below:
    # Restore production database to DR site using file system
    # instead of ASM
    run {
    set newname for datafile 1 to '/opt/oracle/product/10gR2/oradata/DB01/system.dbf';

    restore database;

    I searched for a decription of the 06054 error, and found that if the archive logs weren't available, then to run "alter database open resetlogs;", which I did. Here's the output:

    I've done all of this twice now, with the same result. I've googled PLS-801 and found more than a few instances of people getting this code, but not during a database open after a restore. Can anyone shed some light on what might have gone wrong? In the interest of brevity, I left out the rest of the restore process prior to running the database restore, but other than setting "compatible" and "db_recovery_file_dest_size", it was all by the book.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply Pierre.
    I am not using RMAN Duplicate. Yes, the source of the backup is an RAC. The destination is a single server, with the DB on the filesystem. Here's an overview of of the commands I ran and the procedure.
    Copied tar'd backup controlfile and datafiles to destination machine. Untar'd. Install 10.2.0.1.0 on destination machine, patch to 10.2.0.2.0.
    OS> sqlplus /nologin
    SQL> alter system set compatible = '10.2.0.2.0' scope=spfile;
    SQL> alter system set db_recovery_dest_file_size = '8g'; scope spfile;
    SQL> shutdown immediate;
    SQL> startup; (to verify changes took...)
    SQL> shutdown immediate;
    OS> Copy control file from untar'd dir and place in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/, truncate name to c-DBID-date-00.
    OS> rman target /
    RMAN> startup nomount;
    RMAN> set dbid <dbid from control file>;
    RMAN> restore controlfile from autobackup; (finds control file with no problem...)
    RMAN> alter database mount;
    RMAN> @/home/oracle/rman_dr.rman (script cited in first post, to rename datafiles from ASM to filesystem, restore, switch files, and recover...)
    RMAN> alter database open resetlogs; (as cited before...)
    If I'm not using Duplicate and not specifying dates, the UNTIL/SET UNTIL commands aren't necessary, correct?

  • IPhone crashes during restore

    I have an iPhone 5s, bought 14 months ago (without Apple Care, so out of warranty).
    Background Information:
    Since I updated to iOS 8.1.1, my iPhone has been crashing infrequently, in: Blue screen, Apple logo, back to blue screen, Apple logo, etc. This would solve itself after an hour or two (sometimes more), and the phone would then be useable again.
    However, even though it would take a long time sometimes, eventually the phone would crash again. I went to my local Apple Premium Reseller (iCentre Delft, the Netherlands), and they said I should restore the phone via iTunes. I did and it worked fine for approximately 5 days. But then, this morning, it crashed again. Same thing as before. But this time it DID NOT go back to usable, and I decided to try and hook it up to iTunes again. It wasn't recognized, however, and therefore I could not restore my phone. I called Apple Support, and they said I should put the phone into recovery (DFU) mode. I did, and it clearly shows the iTunes logo with the lightning cable. But now comes the problem:
    The problem:
    When I connect to iTunes, I get the normal messages requesting me to reset the phone (2). It starts just fine, but when the first white appears on the bar on the iPhone, it gets stuck (while the bar in iTunes keeps moving). 10 seconds later, and the blue screen pops up again, after which it heads back to the basic recovery mode screen. On iTunes I get error 9, which shows USB connection issues. However, I doubt that this is the case and suspect that it gives this error because it has nothing else to give.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?

    HEy dear,
    for take your device to recovery mode you have to hold home and power then release the power and hold the home for 10 second. Then the iTunes will apear.
    BUt for DFU mode you have to hold the home button until the itunes recognize your device and be availabe on your iTunes but there wont be any iTunes logo on your iPhone screen everything will be black on your iPhone. Try restoring your iPhone in DFU mode.

  • Error During restoring a database through RMAN in Oracle 9i

    Hi all,
    I have taken a full backup in oracle 9i through RMAN in one server(Solaris).
    After that moved that backupset to another server. Server Locations are same. I need to restore the backup in the new server.
    I am using pfile.
    Steps I followed:
    1. Using pfile i have started the db in nomount.
    2. Then restored the controlfile from backup and mounted the database.
    3. then tried to restore the database - I have to restore three of my datafiles to different location, hence i used "set new name "
    But RMAN threw an error while restoring.
    RMAN-00558:
    RMAN-01009:
    File not found.
    Can anyone help to resolve this error.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
    Thanks, but I took the backup of the database using the command:
    backup database;Only this command i issued.
    In the new server, I tried to list the backup using list backup command by putting the db in mount stage.
    I m not able to view the backup information.
    Is there any command to register the backup information using the catalog?

  • IPhone unplugged during Restore Process, PLEASE HELP Restore!

    Hi guys,
    I was Restoring my original iPhone through iTunes and during this process my brother unplugged
    the iphone from iTunes.
    Now, I've been trying to restore again but the iTunes has prompted a little window that says
    "Waiting for iPhone". I left it plugged in all night with iTunes on my Mac but it's stuck on that same
    message.
    Can someone please help me with this issue?
    Thanks so much,

    Try placing your iPhone in recovery mode.
    Turn off your iPhone by holding the "Sleep/Wake" button for about five seconds and then sliding the red slider. If your iPhone is already off, there's no need to turn it on and then off again.
    Once it's turned off, press and hold the "Home" button and plug the iPhone into your Mac.Keep holding the "Home" button until you see a dock cable pointing to the iTunes icon. iPhones running older software will display a yellow triangle and text which says "Please Connect to iTunes". You can now release the Home button.
    Open iTunes (if it's not already open) and you will be told that "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode". Click "OK" and you will be taken to the iPhone pane. Click restore.

  • Iphone froze during restore

    Hey, just got my Iphone 4 replaced today at the apple store, the home button was acting odd. Anyway, I plugged it in to restore from my backup, started the restore, and half way through it stopped and gave me an error message saying to restore the phone before updating it, so I hit the restore button. It stopped that with an error message too, and my phone disappeared from itunes. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, waiting for a couple minutes. It didn't show up so I unplugged it again, right as I did it finally showed up, but I had already disconnected it. The screen turned all white at first, then faded to all black. Now I have a black screen that is lit up, so it's on, but it won't respond to anything. Tried shutting off, plugging in, restoring, dfu mode... won't show up in itunes or respond to anything. Do I have to bring it back to the store and get another new one? I've literally had it for like 4 hours. Better off letting it die so it shuts off or charging it? Really frustrated right now, need my phone at work.

    Hi ShanaB, could you tell me what version firmware came on the iphone? I'm having trouble also but don't want to lose the unlock. ty

  • HT201210 iPhone freezing during restore.....

    My iPhone 4 keeps freezing about 60% way through a restore, according to iTunes when the firmware is being updated. Any ideas how to fix? I have tried a different computer, disabling my security software etc. and still no luck :o( (Windows)

    I was doing exactly what you suggested for hours prior to posting my question. I tried restoring, I tried restore/update over and over and it would always freeze between 25-75% through. I restarted my laptop 20 times, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 4 times. Finally, today I was so frustrated that when I saw it freeze up one more time, I just pulled the power cord out of my laptop and walked away. An hour later I booted back up and set it to restore before I left the room and ....magic, it finally worked. Whether the unplug event had any real connection, I don't know.
    If anyone does freeze during an update and has the "connect to itunes screen with the red itunes logo" stuck on their iphone screen, modular 747 is correct. Just keep trying the restore/update through itunes, but be prepared to do it non-stop for almost 72 hours like I did.

  • HT201269 Iphone disconnected during restore.

    I just received a new iphone. I went to restore the phone using itunes. During this time my phone disconnected.
    I reconnected it and now it is recognised as my phone in itunes and says 'your iphone is up to date' etc, yet my phone is still on the start up screen.
    Im not sure whether to click 'restore' again in risk of loosing all my photos etc?

    Yours will be a bit different because we can't force the phone to restart by holding both buttons.
    You can try and put it into 'recovery mode' which is slightly different from 'DFU mode'
    Try the following:
    1) Let the battery run out
    2) Plug the phone in (so it powers on), do not have the phone connected to a computer as this will try something else
    3) As soon as the screen comes on press and hold the home button (make take 30 seconds)
    4) Wait for it to pop up with a symbol showing to connect to iTunes
    5) Try to restore in iTunes
    -Dib.

  • IPhone crashes during restoring. What should I do?

    I was busy restoring my iphone 3G but I had no idea that iTunes will demand that your sim-card that was in the iPhone at the first you bought it. And unfortunately I have lost this sim-card, so my phone is kind of dead right now.

    iTunes is responsible for making sure your phone gets activated properly, and therefore needs the sim card. You can take the phone to AT&T and give them your account information. They will give you a brand new sim for the device. Then try to restore with the SIM in. Should work fine after this.
