IPhone 4 freezing with apple symbol

In the past my phone would freeze and show the apple symbol with the circle of ticks on it and I would do a hard reset problem solved!  The last few days this has been happening every 20 mins or so.  I hard reset and it's fine for the next 20 mins.  Doesn't matter what app I'm on it always happens.  my phone is all up to date so any ideas on what may be wrong or how to fix it?  Thanks!!

    How to reset
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.

  • Iphone stuck with apple symbol and wont start up

i updated my iphone and when it finished and went to reboot it just stays stuck on the apple symbol it constantly reboots and will never connect to my laptop i dont know what to do if anyone can help please do

    Hi,
Luca224 & Ingo2711. Thanks for bringing this topic. on 29th Nov. I faced the same problem on my iPhone 3GS 32GB Firmware 3.1.2, iPhone stuck with apple symbol and wont start up. I have tried with 10 Seconds Sleep/wake-up button + home button to reset. But didn't work. Did google about an hour with many blogs. Finally I made a call to 3 iPhone care and spent 30 minutes and explained whatever I have done; iPhone customer care asked me to go to nearby iPhone service center in Sydney. BUT BY LUCK CLICKED ON iTUNE AND GOT THE OPTION FOR ONLINE FORUM FOR APPLE iPHONE. Many many thanks to Ingo2711 who has given the solution link and also thanks to Luca224 , who raised the issue. I feel, this is a common problem with iPhones those who using iPhone 3GS 3.1.2...... but try the link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 and thanks to Luca224 & Ingo2711. PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION CAREFULY:
    1. Verify you have iTunes 7.5 or later. Apple recommends using the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    3. Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off. _+(in my case - red slider didn't appear, but i pressed the Sleep/Wake button until the iPhone went off, finally it was just off... i was frustrated... tried 3 times with more patience )+_
    4. Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB to iPhone, the device should then power on. +_( Do exactly as it says)_+
Note: If you see the message "Charging... Please Wait" or you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least 10 minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again. +_(True ... for me it happened 3 times)_+
    5. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. +_( I was nearly frustrated at my 3rd attempet; my thumb was hurting as I was holding the home button for few minutes..... but finally it worked yahooooooooooooooooo...... suddenly changed my decision.... about going to 3/Apple service center)_+
    6. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message:
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, then disconnect the USB cable from iPhone and repeat steps 3-6.
Because you must restore iPhone or iPod touch, iTunes will not recover data from the device, but if it was previously synced on the same computer and the same user account, it should restore a backup (if available). See document HT1414, "Updating and Restoring iPhone Software."
If you are still unable to restore the iPhone using this method, check Apple support for further troubleshooting and/or service options.
Note: If you sync both an iPhone and an iPod touch to the same computer, make sure you select the correct backup to restore your settings from (don't select an iPhone backup if you have an iPod touch and don't select an iPod touch backup if you have an iPhone).
**** ( BACKUP FROM YOUR iTUNES : MAC/PC; AS I GOT MY 95% DATA FROM THERE.... GOOD LUCK)******* IF IT WORKS PLEASE POST YOUR EXPERIENCE....*
    THANKS

My macbook pro is stuck on grey screen with apple symbol in center with the progress circle under it continusly spinning. After I had turned it on. Prior to turning it on I had to force close and shut down a few hours prior. Please Help I have tried everything I know to do

Unfortunately this means that there is a problem in the boot sector of your hard drive. It might be indicative of a fundamental corruption in the coding that allows your computer to boot your operating system from your hard drive. I had this problem twice and it resulted in me having to get a new hard drive and restore my data.
In other words, your computer can't talk to your operating system so you can't access your data.
Here is my advice: DON'T CALL APPLE TECH SUPPORT though they are kind and usually helpful it will take you an hour just to explain the situation and they will only tell you to do what I'm gonna say here.
First: Shut down your computer completely
Two: boot up while holding down the following keys: command, option, p, and r. The computer will reboot 3 times. This solution will likely fail so if you're frustrated skip to the next step.
Three: Boot up while holding down the option key. Select recovery drive. Select your default language. Select disk utility, click on Macintosh HD, and select "verify and repair volume." Likely the verification will produce some line like "unused node not erased." Or something like that. If anything using the words "node structure" comes up, you need a new hard drive.
If after verification and repairs you still can't boot I sincerely hope you have apple care because you will need a new hard drive. Set up an appointment to come in to the apple store, they will tell you to go and get data recovery, just ask them to give you the old hard drive. Unless you have an up to date backup in which case you can just restore from that. If you're lucky the only issue is with the boot sector which means that if you ask them to give you the old hard drive, you can buy an enclosure and you have effectively been given a free external hard drive. It still works to store data just not to load an operating system.
If you have a back up drive bring it to the apple store and they'll do the whole thing right there, it should take around an hour and a half but may take longer.
Hope this helps, it's annoying but it's your safest bet.
    All the best.

You are absolutely WRONG. Apple bears no responsibility in this at all. YOU purchased a STOLEN phone. You are guilty of receiving stolen property at best. Take it back to wherever you bought it and demand a refund. Failing that, turn it over to the police. You got ripped off. I'm sorry you wasted your money, but there is NOTHING Apple or anyone else can do for you. Only the rightful owner of the phone can unlock it.

while updating ipod touch 4 i got an error message now stuck with apple symbol and empty bar. can i restart ipod?

    - What was the error message?
    - Try closing iTunes and then disconnect the iPod from the computer. Then reconnect the iPod.  If the iPod shows in iTunes then you can try again.  However, You should try to resolve the error message first.
    - If iTunes does not see the iPod try reetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - I recommend that you come back with the what the error message said and the condition of the iPod and if it is visible in iTunes.

  • HT1414 Restoring iPad with Apple symbol displayed?

Trying to restore my iPad 2 to factory setting given that I am locked up & only seeing the Apple symbol; it is not allowing me because it is requiring that I turn off "Find my iPad".  I cant access iCloud Settings on my iPad to turn that off. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with restoring your iPad. To resolve this issue, you may need to restore the iPad in recovery mode:

  • When i open my computer I get the white screen with apple symbol and there are vertical lines all over the screen with green pixels and after a few minutes the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer what happens

3 years ago I bought an IMac Desktop that I am using for a lot of things but the most important for dvd montage in Imovies and Idvd.
Now today when I opened my computer I get as usual the white screen with the Apple symbol but there were all over the screen vertical lines with green pixels and after a while the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer using the power button or the restart button and when I do so each time the same is happening somebody can tell me what is happening and what caused this. This computer is my work and now I have no income anymore.
On the Apple support site they are asking to enter the serial number and when I do so I get message it is wrong but it is the only one I have and I buy this computer in Cairo Egypt. I am living in Hurghada in Egypt for the moment. When I call the technical support of the shop where I buy it they are telling me that it is the hard disk or ram and that I probably lost everything on it and they are asking a big amount to repair.
Can somebody advise me on this matter. Thanks in advance

You can find the serial number either in About this Mc in the Menu bar under the , or it should be on a sticker under the foot of the machine.
If you have the install discs, try booting from them, holding down the c key and then using Disk Utility to check the drive.
You can also boot into Safe mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
       1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
       2. Press the power button.
       3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
       4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
    Please post back with results,
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.

  • White Screen With Apple Symbol and Turning Gear Appears At Startup

I downloaded the most recent software update with Mac OS X 10.5.4, a security update, and some sort of Safari update (not so sure). After I restarted the computer after the update, everything was okay. A few minutes later, I decided to restart it while troubleshooting for a wireless internet problem in the house. As normal I heard the tone and saw the white screen with the Apple symbol on it and the turing gear, but my Mac did not log in and the gear kept on turning for about half an hour. Now, every time I hold down the power button in an attempt to fix it, it always does the same thing. I tried pressing different key combinations at the startup and the process in which I disconnected the AC adapter, took out the battery, held down the power button for 5 seconds, put the battery back in, and connected the AC adapter, and that didn't even work.

What a worse coincidence with out the 10.5.4 upgrade though. Exact same problem. Tried booting into single user mode No shell/command prompt, boot with Leopard DVD. DVD got stuck.
Was so ****** off. Its 1 am in the east coast and I have all my work stuff on the MB
Finally did the Zapping and it booted back. was sweating in a 65 F temperature. **** it.
Now Should I run verify disk or not?? What kind of impact does verify disk has?
It probably is disk intensive but it does not screw up right? Does it run fsck?
*That said, the whole problem came up when I used a flash drive from a windows PC to copy some files to my mac. I have done that innumerable number of times. Why would it freak out now?*

  • I am aware that many people, like me, have lost the ability to mirror their iPad, iPhone or computer with Apple TV.  Has anyone yet found a solution?  One day it worked, the next day the option to switch between the device and Apple TV had disappeared.

Has anyone managed to resolve the problems encountered with Apple TV and the loss of ability to mirror iphones, ipads or computers?  One day it was working perfectly, from all the above devices, the next the option to switch between playing on the device or mirroring to apple tv had disappeared.  I have tried all the obvious such as updating iTunes, turning all devices off and then back on, but nothing is working.  Help please!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your problem is most certainly network related, you might try restarting your devices including your router as a temporary solution, but in the long term would be better correcting the problems with your network.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Apple iPhone 5 Flashing with apple logo and load bar and apps working

flickering, with apple logo and load bar and apps in that background that all work while screen flickering, had to restore my phone to get to stop flashing and eliminate the load bar.

    Hello missyfromsouthport,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning restoration issues:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You might need to use recovery mode if:
You can't update or restore because iTunes doesn't recognize your device or says it's "in recovery mode".
The Apple logo remains onscreen for several minutes with no progress bar.
The Connect to iTunes screen appears.
See what to do if the progress bar remains onscreen for several minutes
    Use recovery mode
Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time.
iTunes should open and display a message such as: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
Use iTunes to restore your device.
If you don't see your device in iTunes, follow these steps for Mac or these for Windows.
    Additional Information
If you started your device in recovery mode by mistake, restart it to exit recovery mode. Or you can just wait—after 15 minutes the device will exit recovery mode by itself.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    BobbyD

  • Tried to do updates, now frozen with apple symbol on screen. Can only shut off by pushing both sleep/wake button and power

We have a 32 gb iPad, slow but sure. Just tried to do restore from cloud and now it's frozen. Shut off with power button and wake/sleep only and all I get is the apple symbol when I restart it. Stuck.

If reset doesn't work, try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.
