IPhone 4 Getting hot

now i haven't had any of the temperature warnings, but using my phone for stuff like watching video via wifi, or even playing games. the phone gets really hot, anyone else experiencing this? just so i know if i have a problem

I purchased a black 16gb iPhone 4 on 6/30/10 and a white 16gb iPhone 4 on 7/7/11. They are completely different heat and battery wise. I am returning the white one to AT&T despite the hefty $60 restocking fee due to the overheating issue. Do not tell me it is the same for every iPhone 4 because my black one is perfect and has never had ANY issues with battery or heat. The phones were the same iOS version, the same settings, yet the white one is more of a paperweight than anything else. Take the advice of someone who has purchased every version of every iPhone since 2G for both lines on my family account, do NOT buy a white iPhone 4 EVER. It is a complete waste of an upgrade and your time. The black one that is over a year old is still running like a champ. How does a company that began in white not know how to keep it cool?

I would contact applecare about this issue. a hot phone is not normal , a warm phone is.
but if you contact applecare that way you have a record of the issue incase it gets worse in the future.

In addition, the battery easily discharges (in standby mode), say 2 hours.

Sigh, i have to return it to the Exclusive Distributor here in Manila. I was given a repair form and was told to wait for at least a month before they repair or replace the unit.
Now, i'm having a secong thought of using an iphone anymore. Imagine, for only a month of use and considering the big amount i invested to buy it then suddenly my iphone was subjected to repair? a PHOBIA is developing I Think

I did the reset. I updated the iPhone to 6.0. The alert sound stopped for a while then started again. I had to go to notifications a few times to turn off some of the alerts and now I have peace, plus I learned more about the notifications. Thanks for your help. I did not need to go to the Apple Store.

The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup... Restore as New...

It all depends on the reception. If you cell reception is bad, iPhone will try harder and it will get warmer and uses more battery.
For your info, iPhone 4S is a dual core A5 chip.

My iPhone 6 gets hot while in use - I can be playing a game or just on other apps. It varies from time to time whether it gets hot. I keep my brightness level up all the way during the day and lower it at nightime. Last night, I adjusted the level down all the way and played a music playlist on YouTube. I woke up a couple of hours later and it was very hot to touch. My brightness auto adjust is set to OFF.
Another issue I'm having is while using my iphone, is that the brightness level flickers and dims slightly on its own. As stated, my auto adjust brightness is set to off. I am running the current software. Anyone else experiencing any these issues?

Try resetting your phone. Press and hold down both the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears then let go. You won't lose any data.

If none of the above help then the next step would be to Restore. Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings This will erase everything on your phone so back up your data first.

My brother with the iPhone 4 suffers from that too.
My iphone 5 doesnt however.
But to Stop Launch when your apple device is connected, 1. connect your iPhoneto your computer, 2.Go to the Summary Page, 3. uncheck the box "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected" and then your good for that device.

It is normal for it to get warm when it's being used, especially if it is hot outside. It can even get uncomfortably warm. As long as it is not causing you physical harm (as in giving you burns) or displaying a temperature warning, then it's normal behavior. It's like taking your laptop outside and using it. Except the laptop will probably burn you.
