Iphone 4 got wet, battery work, phone doesn't...

Okay so maybe about 6-7 months ago I was at work. I had to close the gates at the other end of the golf course early because I had to look up because of a thunder storm. To make the story quick my iPhone back screen was cracked, my phone got wet. Like an Idiot I left the phone on, even after wiping it off. It turned off so I would turn it back on this repeated until I was at home trying to send a text and it went off and wouldn't come back on. I tried putting in another iPhone 4 battery that works on this other iPhone, although the touch screen is messed up it starts up. I then put the original battery into the phone that worked, and it started up perfectly. My question is, if the batterie works in this other iPhone 4, why doesn't it work with mine and what could've the water damaged? I was thinking logic/motherboard although If I was going to replace this I would need another one of those, unfortunate the 3 iPhone 4's I have, 2 are version so switching the logic board is going to be really tricky. Any suggestions?

Also I am going to try the white rice in ziplock bag again, however sense its months after I doubt this will work, but there can be some, even a little bit of water remaining in the iPhone.
There's absolutely no point in that. Corrosion and whatever other damage as a result of taking apart a phone with no user serviceable parts has already occurred. Time for a new phone.

  • HELP! iPhone 5S got wet, still working, was not backed up to iCloud.  What to do???

Details: Dropped my iPhone 5S (which was in case, but not a waterproof case) into the bathtub where it was fully submerged for maybe 1-1.5 seconds, I grabbed it right away and got it out. I immediately shook out all of the water and ran to grab a bag of rice to put it in.  As I went to put it in rice, I remembered that my iCloud was full and hadn't been backing up the phone, and I'm terrified that I might lose everything, especially my photos.  I know, my fault for not having it backed up, I've just been putting it off.  Everything seems to be working fine, aside from the fact that it's only got about 10% battery life (phone was almost dead when it was dropped in the water).  Since the phone was still working, I quickly purchased additional iCloud storage and began a manual backup without plugging the phone in (I'm afraid I will fry it if I plug it in since there may be water still inside of it).  Currently the phone is on, manually backing up, sitting in a bag of rice.  I know that the phone may die because there wasn't much battery life left, but I'm praying that it is backing up my photos.  I know that most of what I read said to turn the phone off before putting it in rice, but I am honestly more concerned with saving all of the photos at this point.
Is there something else that I should be doing?  I keep wanting to check it to see if it is still backing up, but don't want to waste what is left of the battery.
    Any advice would be amazing!

To add the same content from the iPhone 4 backup, you can only backup and restore using the original Apple ID (iCloud) and password account.
Content cannot be transferred from one Apple ID to another and accounts cannot be merged as noted here.

  • Iphone 5 got wet, now apple logo keeps blinking and phone is unresponsive. When I try to restore it I get error code 21 then on another computer I get error code 2006.

My iPhone 5 got wet and I dried it out for 3 days. Now when I charge it the apple logo keeps blinking. Phone is unresponsive, so I tried to restore it but got error code 21. Tried on another computer and got error code 2006. Any suggestions, or is it impossible to get it back?

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.
If neither of those fix it, then it's toast. it will have to be replaced.

Iphone 5 got wet last week.  Been in rice until today.  It turned on and worked fine, I could see a water spot in the middle but still worked fine, 3 hours in it shut down to the black screen with apple logo.  Screen stays up for 10 seconds ago and then goes black and then black screen with apple logo comes back.  Any ideas what to do?

At this point it's likely that the iPhone has suffered damage and you'll have to take or send it to Apple for replacement. If you have AppleCare+ coverage on the iPhone, the cost will be US $49. Otherwise the cost will be US $229.

My laptop got wet - battery icon now has a X inside and it is not holding any charge at all, anyone else dealt with this scenario?

The battery is not detected, so it means that the battery or the battery connector are not working, which is a serious problem.
Turn off your MacBook and take it to an Apple Store or reseller. It will be an expensive repair if your logic board has to be replaced. Read > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5511

  • IPhone 3GS got wet in rain and home screen appears zoomed

    Hello Everyone,
My iPhone 3GS got wet in rain and when i switch it on the home screen appears zoomed. Can anyone help me out to fix this issue. Is this issue can really be fixed?.
    Thanks i Advance,
    Rameshkumar

Did you let it dry out for a week or so?
Turning it on wet will likely finish it off.
If it is dry, then double tap with three fingers.
This is covered in the manual under Zoom:

  • Iphone 4s got wet. Made a call of it worked fine. Then placed it in rice and tried to turn it off but it wouldnt. woke up to my alarm? will my phone be okay or should i wait to check it.

Please help my iphone got wet and i dont know what to do. its sitting in rice right now but idk if its broken or not becuse i mad a call off of it and i tried turning it off but it wouldnt turn off. it would turn black then the apple sign would come back on. so i just left it in the rice over night. i woke up to my alarm an it had ben going off for probably 30 min. it finally died. what do i do? should i continue o wait and let it sit in rice or should i try to use it.

Let it sit, my iPhone got water damage, and it costs $200 to get a refurbished one (4S), so that's an option. There is no harm in letting it sit in rice though.

  • My iPhone 5s got wet, I kept it in rice for 10 days, then it worked perfectly for 2 days. Now it´s dead, won´t turn on.

My iPhone 5s fell in the toilet 2 weeks ago and it was in contact with water for 5 to 10 seconds. It almost immediately turned itself off.
After that, I didn´t turn it on again and left it in rice for 10 days.
After that, I turned it on and it was in perfect state. Everything worked. I couldn´t believe that it had survived so well. But the joy only lasted for 2 days. The third day I was using it after I had turned it on again, it started turning itself off. The first time, it turned back on by itself. The second time, a few hours later, I had to reset it. The third and last time, that same day, it never turned on again. It´s like it´s dead. It doesn´t react to anything.
I bougth it in February 2014. What are my options? Can they fix it if I take it to the Apple Service? Or do I have to replace it? And in that case, how much would it cost?, because now that it got wet it´s out of warranty.
    Thank you for your anwer!

OK. And is it a sure thing that they will give me a replacement? Do they do replacements (for $269) when the iPhone has water damage? Also, my iPhone doesn´t turn on: would that be bad for them to consider a replacement?
    Thanks again.

  • Hi my iPhone 4 got wet , will apple replace it at a discounted price in ireland? If so where do I take it to be replaced or repaired?

    Hi All ,
My phone got wet not dropped in water but left out in the rain. Now it will only power up if connected to the wall charger and then i can enter my unlock code .After this it says Activation Required , connect to itunes. It says 100% battery but no service .When I remove the usb lead from the wall socket to connect to my pc the phone dies. Then when i connect it to the computer the apple comes up on my iphone and nothing else just the apple then blank then the apple then blank in a continuous loop.itunes doesnt start when i connect the iphone to my pc and it doesnt show as connected in itunes either. The sim in the phone is also damaged as when i removed it to put in another phone it didn't work or wasnt recognised. When I brought it in out of the rain the speakers were making a crackling noise but they have stopped this now .Also the camera lenses were a little clouded with moisture but they have since cleared .
What to do ? Apple dont cover water damage (the phone is only 8 months old) so do I have to buy a new Iphone at full price or will they like in the states replace it at a discounted price. If they will replace it will I be able to get a 32gb as they only sell Iphone 4, 8gb now in the apple store
    All help appreciated.
    BB.

  • So my iPhone 4s got wet with salt water while I was at the beach.

I didn't turn it on after it got wet. I let it dry before I tried turning it on but it did not work. Is there a fix that I can do? Also, how can I open up my iphone? The screws on the bottom are shaped sorta like a flower.
And please do not suggest that I send it to Apple. Thank You

Do whatever you want then. It's probably never going to work again.
amazing isn't it? "hey i messed up my phone, can you tell me what to do, except don't tell me what to do". i live 5 minutes from the beach and i'm there all the time but my iphone never gets near there. not just the salt water, it's practically impossible to keep from getting sand in it.

  • IPhone 4 got wet. Not immersed, but wet. Sound is on but no screen. Any suggestions?

iPhone got wet, not immersed, but wet. Have sound but no screen. Any suggestions? Been in bag of rice for 2 days:(

It ususally should be left off and in rice for 3-5 days. However, since you left yours on and you hear noises and screen problems, I would believe you have too much damage to recover from. As you have found, water and electronics don't mix.
Not knowing where you are, you can go to this link and if necessary change countries to see what the pricing would be for the OOW. http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipho ne
