IPhone 4 has to be restored every time I want to sync + Other ridiculous problems

Hey,
I am on a Windows 7 (64x Ultimate edition) machine, and I own an iPhone 4 16gb, and pretty much 75% of the time I plug my iPhone in to sync it, it will get to syncing the files (whatever they may be, regardless if there are any new updates or nothing at all) and then it will say:
The iPhone cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified.
After this, i must restore my iPhone. From here, I then click on the latest backup and click restore. This is where it gets stupidly ridiculous.
The progress bar for the restoration won't move unless I click and drag the little restore box around my screen. It's as if the computer doesn't realise it's meant to be doing anything unless i'm physically dragging and dropping the window all over my screen. What the computer estimates to take about 3 minutes (I have never had it work propperly so i don't know how long it usually takes) will take me about 20 minutes of me dragging and dropping.
THIS IS THE MOST ANNOYING THING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.
Once it is finished, it will disconnect for 10 seconds, reconnect and be fine. then i can backup the phone and sync etc. Sometimes when i connect to the computer it is fine and backs up and syncs fine, but the majority of the time it screws up (always in the same way) and i have to go through the process again.
If anyone could PLEASE shed any light on how i can fix this, it would be unbelievably appreciated, i've dealt with this problem for about 8 months hoping with each iTunes update that it would be fixed but alas it has not.
Other info regarding iTunes:
I have two internal harddrives, C: and D:.
D: was my original harddrive (320gb so when i upgraded computers i moved it into my new one as a slave to a 1tb harddrive. I still keep all my iTunes stuff on my D: drive and have iTunes installed on C:.
My music on my phone is manually managed so no, it doesn't sync music when it plugs in; it only syncs new apps (+updates) and new photos.
If you require any additional system information then i am willing to post.

It's not a matter of me assuming to restore it, once the error comes up, the only next step I can do is to restore it. I can't access any of the iphones settings in itunes or anything, it's a mandatory restore. If I just cancel the sync (before restoring) and disconnect the phone, all my apps crash on opening: aka unusable phone. So I have literally no choice but to restore every time the error shows up if I want my phone to work.
I have no idea where I may have duplicate files as it doesn't tell me, so if that is the problem (which I don't think it is) then I don't know where I have to go to delete the duplicates.
And the duplicate file error still doesn't explain why leaving iTunes to restore the phone doesn't work and me having to drag the window around. I know it sounds utterly ridiculous, my friend didn't believe me when I told him either but then I showed him and he was as confused as I am. If I just leave the restore to do its own thing at it's own pace, it will loa maybe 20% then fail for whatever reason.

  • Why do I have to restore every time I want to sync?

    Apple,
I am SO frustrated.  This has been going on for YEARS at this point.  Every single time I download a new album of music and want to sync it to my iphone, it simply does not work.  It says the sync is complete, it shows all the tracks with a grey dotted circle next to them, and they NEVER sync to my phone.
There is plenty of space on the phone.
The only way I can get it to work is to completely restore my iPhone to NEW every time I want to sync a new album which is absolutely ridiculous.  Please help.
    Cheers,
    Kyle

Firefox isnt even available for the iOS platform, so this question is not related to Firefox.

    How can I solve this?

You'll have to do it by process of elimination. Sign into the iTunes Store through the App Store app, go to the Purchased section, and look at the list of apps purchased through your own Apple ID. Anything on your iPhone not in that list isn't yours and should be deleted. The same process would apply to content from the iTunes Store.
Or you can just restore the iPhone from your most recent backup and then redownload everything from the iTunes Store. But if you have a lot of apps or content, that obviously wlll be slow.
I updated my iphone by his ID , is it still problem?
That's probably how you got your friend's purchases. It won't be an issue for iOS, but it is an issue for those apps and content.
    Regards.

  • Every time I want to sync, I have to uninstall and reinstall iTunes.

I receive an error saying "File could not be read or written" and I have to reinstall iTunes every single time I want to sync something.  Is there a way to manually sync files anymore to avoid the failure that is iTunes?

Why don't you backup and do a restore.

  • IPhone 4 freezes while restoring every time

I tried to get the new software update for my iphone 4 and my pc froze while installing it, which forced me to restore the phone. however, every time i try to restore it, it gets about 1/3 of the way through and the little progress bar always freezes. any tips? i've tried restarting the computer and disabling the firewall to no avail.

    What equipment?
If you by use the equipment mean the phone itself then its likely a hardware defect which require repair

On the Mac - OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.4 -it works for a couple of times connecting the device (iPad or iPhone), then no more.

  • Need to Reboot iMac Every Time I Want to Sync My iPhone with iTunes

I have the latest version of iTunes, iOS and an iPhone 6. Whenever I want to add new songs via iTunes, I end up having to reboot my iMac (27-inch, late 2013). If I don't reboot, the sync goes on for hours without working. I gave up trying to sync via WiFi. That rarely worked, if ever. Direct connection via USB. Any suggestions to avoid having to reboot to make this work?

  • Why must I restore every time?

For a few weeks now, every time I want to sync, I have to restore my iPod. iTunes shows all my music in there, and the correct amount of data on the iPod, but it won't sync. Why? I use this for my job, and I don't always have 20 minutes free to restore when I want to add a song or rearrange them. Please help me.

Go through the steps laid out here:

If after all that, things are still acting wonky, you should call support or make an appointment with a Genius at the Apple store.

i have a problem in my account every time i want to install application from app Store on my iphone a message shows that my Apple ID has been disabled, i creat a new password and still that message shoes ,what is the problem ?can you help me please???!!!!

If your account is disabled then you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it
If that doesn't fix it then you might need to contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

    Hello Filbert,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone wanting to continually restore.  I found an article with steps to address the issue you described:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please try to troubleshoot security software issues.

  • I am trying to sync my wifes iphone on her macbook and every time we do this it reverts to her old iphone and erases all photos, contacts, emails etc. I seem to get in trouble each time i do this. Any suggestions?

I am trying to update my wifes iphone5 to her macbook. The macbook already has her old iphone4s information. I would like to set up a new id for her so that I can keep all of the information on her phone and get rid of the old stuff on her macbook now. Is there an easy way to do this now. I have an account on my laptop and dont sync with my macbook so it doesnt really matter to me with my iphone5, but i would like to start fresh with hers. It seems like every time I go to sync it i get a message that there is already an account under that user name. Can i keep the same user name and start fresh with what is on her 5.

My iphone 3gs is acting weird, every time i get a call or if i try and call some one my iphone gets random black lines down it) so what can I do to fix it?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
