IPhone 4 iOS 4.3.5 'No Service' and 'No Sim' Problems
Ever since I updated my iPhone 4 to the latest iOS (4.3.5) I have had nothing but grief!!
I updated it a week ago now and every morning since then I have woken up to my phone saying there is no sim inserted! The phone is plugged in overnight to charge and it has done this every night without fail ever since I loaded this stupid update!!
Also at least once and hour during the day if the phone is left alone for a bit the dreaded 'No Service' message appears! I then have to turn on the Airplane Mode and leave it for a few seconds and then back off and the signal slowly loads back up! Just to add to the frustration the phone is now a week over the free support warranty period (strange coincidence) so I cannot get any help from Apple unless I pay for it!
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem since the iOS 4.3.5 software was released?

I've bought an Iphone 4S in the UK. Using the phone in Argentina, it displays the "No Service" and "Invalid SIM" errors sporadically. The only solution is to reset the phone (switching it ON/OFF). Also most of the time, the SMS are not sent nor received...
The phone was checked by my carrier (phone company, Movistar) and they replaced the micro SIM card. bear in mind that there's no Apple shop here and the Iphone 4S is NOT available in Argentina!!!

I've received an email with a solution to the problem; you have to update to the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406)!! It's been 1Hour and so far my iPHone 4S is working just fine. Please follow carefully the below instructions:
RUN A FULL BACK UP BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS
1. Download the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406) from the internet. (800MB)
2. Connect your iPhone 4S to iTunes.
3. Once connected, two options will show: ‘restore’ and ‘check for update’.
4. Press down SHIFT and choose ‘check for update’. (if you click ‘check for update’ without pressing down SHIFT doesn’t work.)
5. Select the new firmware (9A406). Note that the file should be renamed ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.ipsw’ (instead of ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.zip’), i.e. changing the file extension from ZIP to IPSW. iTunes will now work alone and update your iPhone 4S.
A full back up is recommended before firmware upgrade.

My iphone 3gs is not turning on when I connect to my itunes in pc its just responding that No service and No sim inserted.
This my sound too simple, but I just kept clikning on the arrow next to the selected music and it finally "Kicked" in.

Basically my fone just decided to say invalid sim so by looking on the internet ive restored my device, after doing this it still came up with no service and invalid sim, itunes say that the activtion server is down at the mo, i wanted to know wen the activtion server will be back online and will it solve my problem with no service and invalid sim error
I was quite surprised by that. And I've been off for a little because I've been giving final exams at the college where I work. Now with break I will be spending a little more time on here until I have to start getting ready for the Spring semester. I have experienced a couple of interesting posters in the past week though. I wa afraid one was going to reach through the CAT 5 and grab me around the neck.

Installing an iOS update does not add a physical button.
As for the "No SIM" message, try removing and reinserting the SIM or replacing the SIM. -
after inlocking my iPhone 4 iOs 6.0.1 it shows no service when i used a new sim .
If it is showing invalid SIM error, then the unlocking is not complete. Depending on what carrier authorized the unlock, most require the phone to be restored before the unlock is complete. Once you restore, you should receive a message stating Congratulations, your phnoe is unlocked. Then you restore the backup of the device from before the unlock restore.

Upgraded to iTunes 11. Now, I can not sync my music to my iPhone 4S (iOS 6.0.1). Apps, movies and videos sync OK. Music is the problem. Tags are correctly check-marked. NO ERROR MESSAGE THOUGH. Just a No Content in the Music App in the iPhone. Any ideas ???

IPhone 6, iOS 8.0.2, Touch ID and the Lightning to 30pin
I have an iPhone 6 128GB on EE (UK) and am having problems with Touch ID. When plugged into my Mac via USB or when unplugged TouchID will unlock my iPhone fine. When plugged into my car using a Lightning to 30pin connector, weirdly, Touch ID seems to stop working.
I've tried deleting and re-adding my fingerprints, no joy. DFU restored my iPhone using the 8.0.2 IPSW, no luck. The only fix I've found is to restore my iPhone back to iOS 8.0 where there's no problems. Also tried using a different Lightning to 30pin connector as well as attempting to use the iPhone in another car.
Just wanted to know if anyone else has this (weirdly specific) problem or discovered a fix for it? Can only think that this could be a weird bug in the firmware?
Cheers.A little update. Seems to have stopped working when using iOS 8.0 and my iPhone 6 so updated the phone to 8.0.2
Little more investigation using several cars and several kits and several situations all involving the Lightning to 30 pin connector. (Conclusion at the bottom)

I upgraded my iphone to OS 6.1.2 through itune and lost some photos from photos album and SMS ( In fact everything went back to how it was on my last back up few weeks ago). Do you know how I can recover them? Thank you.
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

Gmd.service and gnome desktop problem
Hi, I recently spent the last week figuring out how to get my graphics card working with arch which i managed to do eventually yesterday yay but now I've hit yet another brick wall (this is about the 50th lol) I installed gnome and gnome-extra. I followed the instructions on starting the desktop from the wiki. I used systemctl to enable gdm.service with no problem but when i asked it to start. it just kept making my monitors turn on and off repetitively
I'm not sure if this has something to do with my xorg.config so I will post that here too. I'm running Xorg-server1.12 as I have to use Nvidia-96xx because of my graphics card which is the NVS280 (Nvidia Quadro I think). I also have to boot nomodeset otherwise I get a blank screen or constant reboots.
