IPhone 4 iOS5 Security Certificate difficulty

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS5 installed.  I'm trying to use a security certificate issued by GlobalSign to be able to sign and encrypt email messages.  I have installed the primary certificate that matches my email address, and the second level certificate for GlobalSign, on my iPhone.  Both are in my profile and both are marked as trusted.  When I go to make the setting in my email account, I turn on s/mime and then am prompted for the sign setting and the encrypt setting.  By clicking on either, another screen opens to provide an option to select a certificate to use for the selected function; however, it shows that there are "no valid certificates" and won't let me turn on the sign or encrypt function.  Any ideas?  Not sure why it's not seeing the certificate in my Profile, or if there is another setting I need to make.  Nothing in the user guide seems to address this problem.  Thanks!

I know this is an old thread but I've been struggling w/ this problem for some time and haven't found a viable solution to the problem anywhere on the internet.
However, assigning a static IP to my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.2) in the router and on the phone seems to prevent it from constantly being dropped (so far, approx 4 hours).
I will be doing the same w/ a 3Gs and 4s for a couple other users and will report if their outcomes are different.
Hopefully this helps anybody who is still searching for a solution to this problem.

  • Cannot login to secure banking website - Chase - Security Certificates?

    I cannot find another post by anyone who is having this problem.
    At the login web page for Chase, here: https://chaseonline.chase.com
    I do not have autocaps or caps lock on. I have been very meticulous when entering my password, many times, with no luck.
    This site works fine for Safari on my PowerBook. It must be something to do with security certificates. However, many other secure sites have no problems.
    Has anyone else been successful with logging into their bank account? (at Chase)

    I just logged on to mine for the first time today. It told me I needed a code to enter as it detected I was logging in from a different computer. I asked it to send the code via SMS to my iPhone. It sent the code in about 30 secs. I entered the code and voila, I was on. But I used Safari and just plugged in www.chase.com

  • FF says my energy account uses an invalid security certificate.

    I cannot access my Scottish Power energy account. When I try to log in a message appears saying: "spenergy.co.uk uses an invalid security certificate." The certificate isn't trusted because no issuer chain was provided. This is the first time I have had ANY sort of difficulty since changing to Mozilla. Any solutions, please?

    This is weird! I've fixed my problem by entering an incorrect date on my computer, then returned it to the proper date, all is good now! Noticed in the message that the date was incorrect, so I checked my computer, it was o.k. It worked though!

  • IPhone, Safari and Secure Sites

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me whether the web browser on the iPhone will be able to handle browsing and using secure sites e.g.
    doing banking online
    pucharding items from online stores ...
    Thank you,
    E

    I have had zero issues using my bank on iPhone and I use WAMU
    I have not tried to purchase anything yet using iPhone. But I am sure it should still work unless the website needed to install some sort of special secure certificate or plugin that would prevent further access to some areas.

  • Mail Security certificate issue and cannot send email from mail app on surface 2

    well im have the same issue like others and coincidently we all started to have this issue just recently like few days ago. Please help us out as on the surface 2 mail app my Hotmail account ( The main account )
    cannot send mails and on the account setting it says there is a problem with the server security certificate. So how to fix it ???

    Does this issue only happen with Hotmail account? Have you tested the account in other mail programs or send a email via web mail in a browser? What is the result if we delete the account then recreate the account?

  • When I try to download the latest version of iTunes on my iPod Classic I get the message that "iTunes has an invalid signature" and that "Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate.  Anyone know how to fix this?

    When I try to download the latest version of iTunes from apple.com, I get the message "Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate."When I open iTunes and try to download the latest version there, I get the message "iTunes has an invalid signature.  The download has been removed."  I have also gotten an Internet Script Error stating that an error has occured in Line 0, Char O and that "Access is denied to images.apple.com/global/scripts/lib/iepngfix.htc."  This problem has never occurred with earlier versions of ITunes.  Anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Are you downloading iTunes form an Apple website or somewhere else? If the answer is somewhere else, try downloading it from Apple. Click on iTunes in the black menu bar above and go from there.

  • The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site

    Hi Guys,
    Every time when we login to SAP Business One, we are getting two identical security Alerts, that we needs to click "Yes" twice.
    Text of error: “The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site”
    We tried to install certificate, but it is not solved this certificate issue and the alert still pops up on login.
    I guess, something wrong with dashboard settings, but don't really know what exact and how to fix it.
    Thanks,
    Sergey

  • After upgrading to Firefox 10.0.2 there is no way to proceed to a website with an invalid security certificate. How do you proceed to these websites in the new release? The fault page only has a button that says "Try again."

    Using Firefox 10.0.2 for Mac.
    In trying to proceed to various websites (corporate such as dlnet.delta.com (expired certificate), government such as https://www.homeport.navy.mil/links/owa-navy-links/ ) with "invalid" security certificates, Firefox 10.0.2 does not have a button on the error page to continue on to the website. How can you do this using Firefox 10.0.2? I have not found any settings in Firefox preferences to enable this capability either.
    Thx.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • There is a problem with the security certificate of the proxy server. Error code 18 and 38.

    Hi All,
    After several hours and a short night of sleep I'm out of ideas and hopefully someone here can help me trying to solve this one. First of all the situation:
    Exchange 2013 on a remote location with a CA-certificate.
    Outlook 2010 and 2013 on different locations, locally installed and on RDS.
    When I open Outlook on my laptop all is fine, no errors, good sync, no problem. But when I open Outlook on our Remote Desktop Servers with Outlook 2013 I'm getting errors like "There is a problem with the security certificate of the proxy server. The
    name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site. Outlook is unable to connect to this server. (Error code 18)". Opening Outlook 2010 the message is the same, but the error code now is 38.
    After this Outlook opens and is working, there's one more error though. After a while an security warning pops up with the message: "Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. However, there is a problem with the
    site's security certificate. * The security certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust. View the certificate to determine whether you want to trust the certifying authority. * The security certificate is valid. * The name on the security
    certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site."
    Strangest thing is, it is the certificate of my RDS! It isn't my valid en officially bought certificate from my mailserver. What's going on? I'm out of options, what I've tried so far (in random order):
    - restarting mailserver and AD;
    - restarting switches;
    - restarting routers;
    - restarting RDS, AD and all other servers;
    - bypassed proxyserver for RDS;
    - created a new profile;
    - checked recently installed updates;
    - checked certificate on mailserver;
    - checked RDS on a different location, working fine.
    Nothing helped, what can I do next? Please advice.
    Regards.

    Found a thread that solves half my problem (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/70d18244-889a-4d95-ac3f-e234672a82b2/there-is-a-problem-with-the-proxy-servers-security-certificate-error-when-starting-outlook?forum=exchangesvrclients).
    The first message can be suppressed by adding this to the Exchange config:
    set-outlookprovider -Identity EXCH -CertprincipalName msstd:webmail.domain.tld
    set-outlookprovider -Identity EXPR -CertprincipalName msstd:webmail.domain.tld
    Giving the command get-outlookprovider, gives me empty information regarding the certprinipalname. Filled
    this and after recreating the profile or deleting the ost-file I still have the second alert with the local certificate of my RDS.
    Not completely where I want to be, any help regarding the second alert is greatly appreciated!

  • Does anyone know where Safari might hide old security certificates?

    In a vein similar to the questions of where Safari is getting the data for the url address autocomplete, does anyone know where Safari might hide an old security certificate? Apple Care could not help me, and the their final suggestion was to reinstall Safari.
    Here is the problem: I access my work computer system through Citrix Client software, which as far as I am aware is emulating a key board to run internal applications and displaying on my screen the result. It seems as if I am inside the firewall, but really I am just looking in an open window (I am definitely not an IS person so computer savy people may be cringing at my simplistic view.) In any case, until this fall I used Safari just fine despite the fact that our IS group said that we had to use IE, and of course they do not support Macs so they will not help. Some upgrade led to the expiration of the security certificate that was stored in Keychain. And despite installing the most up to date Citrix Client software, erasing the certificate from Keychain, clearing the Safari history, cache, bookmarks, and even creating a new user, Safari keeps finding the old certificate and an error message appears that says the certificate is out of date. Our IS assures me that the old certificate is gone from wherever in the cyberworld they exist. That is further supported by the fact that I can in fact use IE just fine to access our system from the very same machine. I think the issue is similar to the ever-present url autofill information, and incidently, the autofill at Ask.com. I have noticed that clearing the history/cache/bookmarks and the cookies does not clear the Ask.com autofill with Safari.
    Does anyone know where this information might live? Any ideas as to why creating a new user would not solve the problem?
    Like others have noted, I would give up on Safari but for use with our Citrix server it provides much better window capabilities than IE. Unfortunately, Apple seems to be of no help since the people who have assisted me on more than one occasion have gone to the Safari product specialists while I have enjoyed their hold-music to no avail.
    iMac (intel) iMac (PPC) iBook (PPC)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    does anyone know what the difference is
    The system battery runs the whole computer when it isn't plugged in. The backup battery only preserves PRAM.
    before i risk wiping my 'ram disk' whatever that is
    If you don't know what a RAM disk is, you don't have one to wipe. This feature enables some of the computer's RAM to be used as if it was a storage drive; it's part of Mac OS 9, but not Mac OS X without using third-party software.

  • Invalid security certificate for my website host-they say the problem is Apple Safari and use Firefox instead

    For the past few days, I keep getting an invalid security certificate in Safari whenever I select Edit My Site from my website homepage (http://annaporterartist.com), or whenever I select anything requiring a secure log in from my website host main page (FASO.com). I have contacted technical support at my website host (fineartstudioonline.com) and they say that this has been an intermittently recurring problem in Safari for years and they recommend that I use Firefox instead. As proof of this they emailed a link to an Apple Support discussion, but it was for Mac OS X Lion v 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1, even though I told them I am using Mac OS X Mountain Lion v 10.8.2 and Safari 6.0.2. I do not get this error message anywhere else on the web using Safari. I did try Firefox and it seems to work fine, but I prefer Safari and I want to know why Safari is not working as it should be. I am concerned that there is a real security problem with my website host and I need someone to explain why I am getting this error message, what it means, and if it is, in fact, a known problem with Safari or is my website host corrupted? Really tired of technical support playing pass the buck or pretending the problem does not exist.
    The specific error message is:
    Their response to my inquiry and my reply is shown below:

    Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
    From the menu bar, select

  • Firefox (21.0) won't accept the security certificate for Twitter & won't let me add an exception.

    My mother was having problems with her computer on the Internet and had to reset the modem. Problem was, I was on the Internet at the time using Twitter. She reset the modem, I thought everything was okay, but now Firefox isn't letting me access Twitter at all because of the security certificate. Here's the error message:
    This Connection is Untrusted
    You have asked Firefox to connect
    securely to twitter.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
    Normally, when you try to connect securely,
    sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
    going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?
    If you usually connect to
    this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
    trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
    twitter.com uses an invalid security certificate.
    The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is not trusted.
    The certificate is only valid for gateway.2wire.net
    (Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer)
    gatway.2wire.net is the default error page for my modem, if the Internet is not working at all. I think the problem here is that now Firefox thinks the legitimate site for Twitter is the error page and not, well, Twitter.com. Also, I'm not getting any "add exception" option. How do I fix this?

    Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • How can I display content blocked by an invalid security certificate?

    I am using Firefox 30.0 which I installed to replace IE8. I log in to my health insurance site. When I try to go to the Provider Directory Search (PDS), nothing happens. I thought the PDS might be a pop-up so I tried both making the web page a pop-up exception and then also just turning the pop up blocker off completely. Neither helped.
    I then tried to access the same PDS page via IE8 and IE8 displayed a “Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate” error page. Also, IE8 displayed a bar with options that allowed me to display blocked content regardless of the status of the security certificate. The PDS page then displayed.
    I went back to FF30 and tried again. The PDS page did not display and no error message nor options bar was displayed. Next, I tried finding an option related to this problem. Options/Security had nothing for Security Certificates. Options/Advanced/Security seemed to deal with security certificates my copy of FF30 would provide to web sites and not the web sites certificates provided to me. I tried clicking on the “lock” icon of the page from which I should be transferred to the PDS page. The security certificate information displays but I could not see any option that would help me and this is the security certificate from the previous page anyway and not the PDS page that is being blocked.
    If I could just get a Security Certificate error to display, I was hoping I would then be given the option of displaying the blocked content anyway. Without even an FF30 error condition being displayed (as does IE8), I am unable to proceed.
    Ideas about what to try would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Claude

  • How do i deal with 'security certificate' issues on my iPad2? I'm unable to answer the security questions that pop up when Im trying to download an app because the pop up does not load properly...

    Basically my Ipad2 stopped allowing me to go to sites such as Tumblr a little while ago. It wouldn't display the page properly because of 'security certificate' issues. This in itself would not have been such a problem, but when I went to the App store to try and download the Tumblr App, a pop up appeared asking me to answer some security questions before I could successfully install the App. However, the pop up would not display correctly because of 'security certificate' issues and as a result I can't download any apps from the App Store. Can anyone help with this??

    Well, I maged to delete some stuff, download the update...
    My Mac mail is still not ok. Still only displays today, yesterday and everything is the 16th of the month previous to this?
    All a bit strange to say the least any suggestons on how to resolve this.

  • Cannot access common websites security certificate not trusted

    I am unable to get to many frequently accessed websites from either Chrome or Safari due to Security Certificate Trust issues. I have been attempting to access Paypal all afternoon without success, as there is no "Proceed anyway" button. I was only able to reach this forum by selecting "Proceed anyway"(!) Other machines on my local network accessing the web via UVerse are not having difficulties, so it seems to be Mavericks specific.

    This solved my problem:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18508863#18508863
    I solved this on my wife's computer by resetting the security certificate settings.  This might help others:
    Close all windows.
    Keychain Access ->  click on System Roots on the left, and then click on Certifcates on the bottom left.
    Check to see if any of the certificates on the right have the blue "+" symbol - this means they have custom trust settings.
    There is a bug in changing the policies, so you'll have to change them via the method below.  Changing them just by changing the access to "system defaults" doesn't seem to save.  The method below worked for me.
    Double-click on each certificate with the custom setting (blue "+"), expand the section labled "trust".  Change the "Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" setting to "no value specified".  Close window - you should be prompted for the password.  Double-click on the certificate again, expand trust, change the "When using this certificate" setting to "Use System Defaults".  Close window, and re-enter password.
    If you didn't re-enter your password upon closing the window, the setting didn't take.  The blue "+" should disappear after a few seconds when it's set back to default.  Once all of the certificates are changed back to default, restart Safari.
    This solved all of the problems for my wife's computer with these issues and OSX 10.7.4
