IPhone 4 iOS5 sync problem

I recently installed iOS5 and so far everything has worked as described albeit a little slower, however I have an issue with the sync. The phone tells me after the completed sync that
"37 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information".
When I look to iTunes for answers there is no indication of what the problem is. I am guessing it is music because the tunes in my library on the phone are not playing. All that happens is they sit. I know the speakers work because movies and radio play just fine, it is only library music.
Can anyone help? has anyone else experienced this?
cheers,
Troyman

I have exactly the same problem. it took quite awhile to sync music and apps correctly (multiple shut-downs and restarts) and now everything is finally syn'ed - except the artwork is wrong on the iPhone only. iTunes is okay. Waiting for helpful answers myself.

  • HELP: I sync my iphone ios 4 to another iphone ios5, sync was completed but after a few mins, iphone will auto restart and freezes at the home screen which I can't unlock. I have to hold the "home"   "off" button to restart the phone.

    Dear all, please hel!!
I sync my iphone ios 4 to another iphone ios5, sync was completed but after a few secs, the iphone with the IOS 5 firmware will auto restart and freezes at the home screen which I can't unlock. It will then freeze for a few secs before repeating the restart phase again and again and again.
To solve this issue, I have to hold the "home"  + "off" button to restart the phone. Afterwhich, it will restart the phone. However, although my stuff are still on the phone, all my sms are gone.
    Can someone please assist urgently.
My data was transferred from another iphone 3GS which is running an IOS 4.0.1 to another 3GS running ios 5.0.1
Is there a serious compatibility issue with both firmware?
    Please help.
    Thanks!

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

wait for phone to finish process

  • Outlook 2003 + iPhone calendar sync problem solved

Here is how I solved my sync problem. Seems a lot of people have the same problem here with Outlook sync suddenly not working after it worked fine for a long time.
I've had Outlook 2003 calendar sync with my iPhone for a few month without any problem, but a few days ago the sync suddenly stopped without any error message. iTunes Diagnostic found no problem and I followed all the steps that Apple outlines to fix the problem but nothing worked (TS2776).
As Apple asked to, I created a new user account on my Windows machine and setup a few test calendar entries to sync with my iPhone. That all worked fine.
So I did what Apple doesn't tell you, and I copied my original Outlook Data file (.PST) over to my new user account and tried to sync that one. Now this didn't work. So I knew the problem lies somewhere in my PST file.
I have then tried to create a new one from scratch in my original Windows account, and copy all the data over. Again, it didn't work. So I emptied the file again, and copied all my calendar entries over to the new PST file in batches (first 10, then another 10, etc).
What I found at the end is that one single calendar entry I created a few days ago caused my sync to stop working. Once I removed this entry, everything worked fine again. Don't ask me what was wrong with it (I made a backup just in case Apple wants to see it), but now everything works again.
If you want to save some time to find which one it is, you may start deleting entries that you created just recently before it stopped working.
    Hope that helps.

Hi im having the same problem. I use outlook 2003 on windows xp and until recently my sync (using usb) was working fine. Now it would seem that calendar items are no longer syncing. can you give any further details of the calendar entry which was causing your problem? im wondering if it was added on a certain date perhaps.
I am running the inbox repair tool to see if my pst file has any problems but would appreciate any other help in the mean time.
    Cheers

  • IPhone 4 sync problems - adds 60,000 blank contacts and calendar hangs

Since the beginning of this week my iPhone 4 has stopped syncing properly. It adds 60,000 blank contacts to my computer (which take hours to delete) and then completely hangs when it gets to the calendar sync. I left it syncing overnight and it was still at exactly the same point when I came back to it this morning.
Does anyone else have this problem? And how do I solve it?
I can't find any mention of it on the Internet.
I have an iPhone 4 with the latest version of iOS, a late-2008 aluminium unibody MacBook with 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, and I'm running (stupidly, I suspect) Outlook 2011 SP1.
This is driving me insane. Please help.
Also, does anyone know how to get support from Apple? Their support pages are the most confusing things I have ever seen in my life.
    Thank you.

Me too. Think it is since 6.1.3.
Interesting other quirk is that as well as NOT syncing my calendar, it also unticks my calendar from pc on the iphone.
When ii retick it, i get the calendar back, but as it was before the sync, ie, it does not have the bnew events from my pc in it.
This is a 2 way problem.
New events on my iphone wont sync to my pc, and new events on my pc wont sync to my iphone.

  • IPhone 3GS SYnc problems with Windows 7 64 Bit

I am having sync problems with windows 7 64 Bit.
The iPhone syncs a few tracks then hangs, a few minutes later itunes tells me the iphone has timed out.
Anyone have any ideas about this. I have tried different USB ports, cleaned the apple USB cable contacts with Servisol, restored the iPhone and reinstalled itunes.
iPhone and iTunes are latest versions.
    Thanks
    Joe

"Try this connect the iPhone, let the mtp driver installation fail, then go into the device manager and uninstall the unknown mtp device. If you then scan for new hardware from the device manager it should recognize the iPhone & update the driver."
    Ok here's what I did:
    1) Connect the iPhone (iTunes had been installed)
    2) No MTP driver installation is happening as Windows detects iPhone successfully
    3) Open Device Manager
    4) There seems to be 2 drivers for iPhone that are active now, although I still can't see which one is the MPT driver you're referring to.
One of them sits under Portable Devices: "Apple iPhone". If I view the details of this driver, it lists the following files:
    - C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\UMDF\WpdMtpDr.dll
    - C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\winusb.sys
    - C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\WUDFRd.sys
    - C:\Windows\system32\WpdMtp.dll
    - C:\Windows\system32\WpdMtpUS.dll
The other one sits under Universal Serial Bus controllers: "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver". And as indicated by Joe above, it lists the following files when I view the Details:
    - C:\Windows\system32\Drivers\usbaapl64.sys
    - C:\Windows\system32\usbaaplrc.dll

  • Unique iphone/Outlook sync problem ???

    Hello all,
I have followed posts for over a month now (since I got my phones) and have yet to see this specific problem. I even spoke with the 1-800 people but their insight was limited at best. So I decided to sign up and place this post. Any help would be appreciated. I too, like many others have had problems syncing my iphone with Outlook (2003) both ways. I use Outlook express for email/contacts (via WAB) these sync fine. I just have to open my email a/c (since both my wife and I have iphones and separate emails). Never get any error messages for Outlook calendar when I sync; in fact occassionally get the "you are about to change more than 5% of what is currently there." When I open Outlook though nothing comes up. Same thing with Outlook; if I place new appt then sync; it does not show up on iphone. I have read and tried every suggestion within these posts to no avail and pretty much had decided I would have to live with just using the calendar on iphone alone. Here is the kicker; my iphone crapped out a week ago; top third of touch screen would not work; called the 800# went through all their template troubleshooting; tried to resync everything again so I could load it on my loaner. Never could pull it up on Outlook though. Accepted the fact I lost my calendar; however when my loaner came to me when I placed my sim card in and synced it; much to my amazement the calendar popped up on my iphone. Still having same problem of new items entered either on iphone or Outlook not syncing either way. BTW have received a new phone now; just wondering if anyone has any insight to this problem and what I could possibly do to fix it.
Things I have already done (from posts read):
    Uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes
Have most recent software on iphone
    Added sp2 for Outlook
    Added sp3 for Office
    Inactivated my Norton's when syncing
Checked and made sure I do not have Windows Live loaded
    Confirmed PST file accepts unicode
Anyone that has any help for me; it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Nandan

I had the same problem when I first got the phone when they first came out and I spent a few hours on the phone with them. I had reoccuring events set up in my outlook that were scheduled with no end date. Apparently it caused some sort of sync problem. I had to go into the event that I scheduled to occur every third day with no end-date and I scheduled it to end around the year 2010. Anyways, I don't know if this will help but it worked for me.
    good luck!

  • HT1848 iphone - macbook syncing problem

Hi, I'm trying to get music from my iPhone onto my new macbook, but it keeps asking me to delete iPhone music in order to sync. My iPhone is synced with my old macbook, which was stolen, so I can't transfer/ update information. Is there any way round this? Any advice appreciated - thanks!

iphone will sync with one and only one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will indeed erase the current content.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
If for some reason you have no backup copy, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone:  File>Transfer purchases.

  • IPhone 4s Sync problems to iTunes on Win 7

I have my iPhone 4s and iTunes set up for WiFi syncing.
I plug the iPhone into power, have iTunes up on the same network.
But I never see the iPhone show up under Devices.
Then I tried connecting the iPhone via USB to Windows/iTunes.
It is identified by Windows. But still not by iTunes.
    Restarted iTunes. Restarted AppleMobileDeviceHelper.
    Finally connected.

    Any ideas?

I disabled the builtin WiFi adapter for my HP desktop (Ralink).
Then used a Buffalo USB WiFi adapter.
Since I made that change I haven't had any problems getting my iPhone to connect to iTunes.

  • Iphone 3g sync problems with itunes 9.2 after updating on another computer

    Hello
I have an old mac which will not allow me to update itunes to 10.x. So I have been updating my iphone via another computer (which apple support to itunes 10.x) and my old mac has been able to see it still and therefore I have been able to backup/update it.
However after updating to ios 4.2, my old mac has not been able to sync to it and itunes tell me that I have to update to itunes 10.1 (which I cannot).
Last time I updated, I had to restore my iphone due to various problems (mainly to do with itunes 9.2 allowing me to download the unsupported ios 4.1). I didn't have to restore this time and this maybe what has caused me the problems. Does anyone know whether I can solve my problem of syncing to itunes 9.2 by restoring my iphone and reinstalling ios4.2? Or is ios 4.2 not supported by itunes 9.2 at all and now I need a new computer?
Sorry, I originally posted this in the wrong section.
    Cheers for the help

Yes, I had the same problem this time and had email communication with Apple about it when ios 4.1 came out. Apple have made it so 10.4.11 is not supported by itunes 10.1, and so stuck with itunes 9.2.1.
When I had this problem, I decided to update on another computer (as I did this last time). But I didn't have the same problems as before (requiring a restore of my iphone) which I suspect solved the problem I have now.
However, if the restore doesn't solve this, then I have an iphone without any music on it! Or any of the apps as well.

  • Iphone music sync problems

    Hello,
I recently transfered music from my dell laptop (music uploaded from personal cd collection) to my new iphone 4s.  The songs appear on the phone in light grey but will not play.  I have authorized the laptop after the transfer per a suggestion from friend when I first encountered problem.  Still no luck.  Any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Toad

After updating my iPhone 5 to 7.0.3 a few weeks ago, this issue has been bugging me. Finally got it syncing on mine after all this time. Simply unchecking the Sync Music and applying and then checking it back on and reapplying did not work.
    What I finally did:
    1) Uncheck all the playlists that are checked AND uncheck the Sync Music and then click Apply.
    2) Then recheck the Sync Music box AND recheck the desired playlists and then click Apply.
(You may have to unplug the sync cable and plug back in before step 2. I had to do it on occasion, but sometimes I didn't and it worked fine.)
The caveat is that apparently you may have to do this everytime you want to add a playlist or song. Also on occasion I found an issue where I click on a song but it would play another one and moving to another song would play the song I wanted to play previously.  I did a reset and it played correctly after that.
It's an inconvenience for now until a certain company fixes the issue. Hope this helps.

  • Bt hub 3, itunes, iphone, ipad syncing problems - not seen

Im using the new infinity BT hub 3 and there are now issues with syncing the iphone, ipad and itunes.  iTunes does not see them as devices consistantly and when it does (looking for "device"), it says it is not available to sync (not found on the network) and promply they disappear from the upper right hand corner.  BT say it's an itunes issue.
I have tried changing from WPA to WEP but this doesn't work, nor does plugging the computer into the ethernet.
The devices show as being on the network by the router, but are not available to sync in itunes
What do we think people? Any ideas to fix this?

As a fallback you could try using the usb cable rather than wifi.
However to you main problem with the wifi. I to have BT infinity and not only was I having issues with not seeing the devices but also a slow speed of streaming to Apple TV3.
Turns out my issue was interference on the wifi from other wifi networks on the same channel.
Mountain Lion has a new wifi utility details here
    http://9to5mac.com/2012/07/31/use-mountain-lions-new-wi-fi-scan-utility-to-optim ize-your-home-wireless-network/
Found thayt there seemed to be 3 or 4 houses on channel 6, Changed mine to channel 11, via the BT hub admin page. When everyting settled down again plugged in my devices via USB made sure they were wifi sync enabled and now all works as it should.
If you do not run mountain lion then look for istumbler on google, does the same job and its free

  • Iphone/ipad sync problems

We have all of our devices set to 'Manually manage music and videos'. M daughter's iPhone 5s is obviously very new but suffers from the same issue. We are running iTunes 11.1.1.11 on Windows 7. iTunes ignores the Manually manage setting. It syncs items back to our devices that we deleted from it last time we hooked it up. It even trys to sync e-mail (keeps popping up the login box for my work e-mail in Outlook). None of the individual checkboxes on the other tabs are checked either (Music, Movies, TV Shows). I just plugged the iPad in and it added back in a movie I deleted so I could update the iPad to iOS 7. My daughter is very frustrated because she will delete music and it will add it back the very next time she connects. This is obviously something with iTunes on our PC but we are baffled as to why iTunes is ignoring settings.

Well, after hours of troubleshooting, I think I figured out the problem.
    First, the fix:
Select all images in the "offending" album.
While holding down the "Option" key, click right and select "Generate Previews".
    Then re-sync, and it works.
My theory on why this works:
I suspect there was no problem with the Aperture Library. I believe the problem was with the iTunes Optimized Image Cache - you know, when iTunes says "Optimizing xx of yy images for iPad". That cache, I believe, is only updated when there is a change to the image. I'm also guessing that deleting the image from the device (iPad or iPhone) does not delete the image from the cache, so if you then re-add it to the device, it pulls it from the cache. So the only way to re-generate the cached image is to make a change to the image. This can be accomplished by making additional adjustments to the image. But of course, no one wants to do that. So instead, another way to update the timestamp on the image is to regenerate the preview. When iTunes sees the update to the timestamp, it goes ahead and runs its "Optimizing..." task, recreating the cached image that gets dumped onto the iPad or iPhone.
So, I believe this is actually a bug in iTunes.

  • ITunes 9.0.1 (9) update fixed my iPhone 3g sync problem

After upgrading to iTunes 9, my iPhone would no longer sync with my iMac G5 (Tiger). I spent 35 minutes with Apple on the phone (no solution), then talked to a Genius at the store for 20 minutes. They made another appointment for me to bring in my iMac and the phone.
Well, yesterday morning a new iTunes update showed up (imagine that) and I installed it. Well, after that, I plugged in my iPhone and "beep" it showed up! Before that it never beeped and the battery icon wouldn't show. USP port worked fine with my kid's iPod, so I knew the port was good. Also tried the same cable with a PC at work, that detected it just fine.
Oh well, thought I would pass this on incase anyone else started having sync issues after iTunes 9.
    Alfredo

I had the same problem at first install. My phone, once plugged in, was not being recognized by either window or iTunes. Same OS and same version. I tried switch USB ports and had no luck. Finally I changed USB cables and for some reason that fixed it. It finally allowed the update of the drivers to kick in and then my iPhone be recognized.
I am not sure if this will help or not but you might give it a shot. Please note that the first cable that would not recognize at first was a 3rd party and once I grabbed a new cable to try it was a apple specific.

  • IPhone 5 Syncing Problem

When I plug my new iPhone 5 into my computer it starts to sync and then gives this message:
The iPhone "Chuck Kubly's iPhone" cannot be synced.  An unknow error occurred (1140).
I'm trying to put some music on my iPhone.
    Thanks
iOS 6 of course on my new iPhone 5
    iTunes Version 10.7
    iMac running 10.8.2

Right, I included a screenshot but the post wiped it out. The message is:
The iphone _______ cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (1140).
The blank is the name of my iPhone. The process starts, then for some reason it checks with the itunes store and flips to displaying the error message.
No problems accessing the store otherwise.
