IPhone 4 iOS7 - No service problem

Hi Guys,
I'm from Portugal and I own an iPhone 4 for a few months now. Since like two weeks ago, I've been facing this issue where out of nowhere my iPhone goes down to only one bar of service, and a few seconds later it states "No Sevice" alternating between this and "Searching...". I'm in an area with strong signal from Vodafone. If I reset the iPhone, the service signal most of the times goes back to full bars (but sometimes it stays with the same problem making me reset it again) and a few minutes, and sometimes hours after, it goes back to no service. I've already changed my SIM card, and restored the iPhone on iTunes, but the problem still persists. I have iOS7.0.6.
Is it possible that this is an Hardware issue in the antenna? The iPhone is still on its warranty period. I just wanted to check if there's any solution before I send it to the warranty service.

On a side note, I deleted all the apps and no success. And as of now not even the resets will bring back the service! I guess I'll just send the phone to the warranty. I think it is so sad the fact that a phone as expensive as this one is has this kind of problems that I never had with my Nokia5800

  • Hello! Im having problems about my Iphone showing NO SERVICE on top. Im not able to send and receive msg, same with calls

Hello Guys! I hope someone could help me, Im having trouble with my phone's signal, I am not able to send and receive msgs, same as make calls and receive calls. At first, my phone is working fine (iphone 4, iOS 7.0.4) and all of a sudden, my text messages are not getting through, and I noticed that my phone shows NO SERVICE, I refreshed the phone by turning it off and turning it on after a couple of minutes, it worked. My phone is okay again after that, Im able to send and receive messages again. But after few hours, the problem came again. NO SERVICE sign is displayed again, but this time after refreshing the phone nothing good happened. I tried almost every possible thing I can to fix it but it doesn't work. What should I do.
    Thank you

    Hey Clara,
These are the recommended troubleshooting steps to resolve No Service issues on iPhone:
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
Turn iPhone off and then on again.
Remove the SIM card and verify that it's a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it isn't damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
Check for a carrier-settings update. Connect to a Wi-Fi network. Then tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, iOS will ask you if you want to install it. If Wi-Fi isn't available, connect your device to iTunes.
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you are outside the United States, please also follow these steps:
Go to Settings > Carrier > Automatic.
If the phone registers any carrier network, Settings > Carrier will be present.
If the Carrier option is missing in Settings and you are outside of the Unites States, please contact Apple for support and service options.
Set the option for Automatic to off.
A list of potentially available carriers appears after about two minutes. If the device is locked to a carrier, it may connect only to the carrier network to which it is locked. If the device displays carrier networks, then the device is working as expected.
Set Settings > Carrier > Automatic back to on.
If you're still experiencing No Service issues, contact your carrier to check for any network or account issues that could cause these symptoms.

Hello Apple ! I have in Iphone 5 16GB WHITE and it have a problem so I send my iphone to a service from my country and they sad that I made a unauthorized intervention  and it is not true, this phone was nerver open , the seals was open by the service  .I think  they try to cheating me because when I spoke with them , they answer me very ugly and unpolite and they sad me that they made what they want. So can I sand my iphone to a service from another country  because I want to know that they will say the same  thing ?I have international guarantee. Answer me soon and thank you for help!

If you can find out what country your iPhone was officially sold in, you could take it there (or if originally sold in the EU, take it to any EU country where Apple officially sells the iPhone) or you could send the iPhone to someone you know in that country who could get it serviced and then ship it back to you. Apple Support does not accept shipments from other countries, and will not ship a serviced iPhone to another country.
This, though, presumes that the iPhone has not been modified as your service provider claimed. If it has, Apple will not provide service for it in any country.
You may be able to find out what country your iPhone was officially sold in by calling Apple Support:

and giving them the serial number.
    Regards.

This support document http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451 relates to the 3194 error. Generally this error has to do with trying to install an iOS that is not the most current. Maybe you tried to jailbreak the phone, or downgrade iOS? Any of this apply to you?

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Restart / Reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Backing up, Updating and Restoring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
Be sure to make an appointment first...

  • IPhone 5C 'no service' - is it worth taking it in for repair?

I made the mistake of getting an iPhone 5C in February, mistake because this phone is obviously a lemon based on the amount of people who are having the "no service" problem with it. Even though I am in a strong signal area, I cannot reliably connect to the cellular network.
The problem started about two weeks after I did all the troubleshooting and suggested fixes as per the Apple website. I called Apple and they told me to restore the phone to factory settings. I did and the phone worked for about two weeks before it started to get flaky again.
Now, I'm lucky to get two minutes of connectivity a day. Yanking the SIM card is a pain (I have an Otterbox case that isn't easy to get into) and not worth the effort.
I called back Apple and they said I need to have the phone serviced. The nearest Apple store is eight hours away (yes, 16 hours round trip). So they said they can ship me another phone for $29 and a $500 deposit, mail in my phone, and they will fix it if it's broken, return it to me, and then I have to send the loaner phone back. I have an issue with the deposit thing (but, yes, I do see Apple's POV); once Apple has that money, they have it. I have no guarantee of ever seeing my deposit again and I'll effectively be paying twice for the phone since as I got my phone free on a two-year contract.
Has anyone actually jumped through these hoops to get a month-old phone fixed? Does Apple honour the return of the deposit? Should I just take a long weekend and go on a road trip to an Apple store?
My provider has done what they can, BTW. I had paid $100 for the phone and they reimbursed me that because of the issues I'm having with it and they also replaced the SIM card. At this point, the best they can do is send it back to Apple for evaluation, but there's the pesky deposit thing again.
I am so frustrated with this phone as I need it for internet (I have an amazing truly unlimited data plan) as we only have cellular internet in my area.
    Thanks for any thoughts,
    Rae

Do as Apple suggests. The deposit is in case you do not return the loaner phone. Apple will NOT keep your money once you return the loaner phone. Apple will repair or more likely replace with a new or refurbished device. Make certain you ship the devices with a carrier that has tracking such as UPS and insure the device for $500.00.
Does Apple honour the return of the deposit?
Absolutely Apple will return the deposit when you return the loaner phone. Apple is not out scam anyone.

No, you did not make a mistake. When millions of devices are manufactured there are bound to be a few with issues. Only those that have issues will complain, those without issues will remain silent.
At this point, the best they can do is send it back to Apple for evaluation, but there's the pesky deposit thing again.
Do as Apple states. Otherwise live with your problem. Apple has offered a solution.

  • My iPhone 5 is experiencing problems with the Wifi at home. It shows that it is connected to the wifi but anything that uses wifi doesn't load. The wifi works sometimes however but this is rare. How do I fix this?

My iPhone 5 is experiencing problems with the Wifi at home. It shows that it is connected to the wifi but anything that uses wifi (apps etc) doesn't load content and just looks like it's loading forever but nothing ever comes. However the wifi and wifi/internet dependant apps work sometimes but it's rare. How do I fix this?

    Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
              8.8.8.8
              8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
    In Safari, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
    Notes:
    1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the  Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
    2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist.

  • IPhone 5 No Service Issue

I posted this in the ATT forums but haven’t heard back.  Thought I would give it a shot here.
Short story – has anyone with an iPhone 5 had “No Service” issues with ATT and been able to fix it?
Long story – A couple of months ago they upgraded the towers to LTE and now the service is horrible.  Whenever my phone switches between LTE, 4G, and E it goes No Service first.  It is constantly switching so I cannot complete a phone call lasting longer than a minute.  It will also sit in No Service for extended periods since the tower upgrade.  I am the only one in the house with an iPhone 5.  The other phones are not experiencing this issue.
Has anyone had a similar problem?   How did you fix it?
I have called multiple times.  I have emailed.  I have chatted.  I have received no help on this issue.  A member of my family plan called them yesterday about this issue.  They said they would call me back on her phone at 7 to troubleshoot my phone.  They never did call.
Additionally, I have other problems since the “upgrades.”  The data usage is way off.  I have used a data counter and ATT is claiming I’m using considerably more than my counter shows.  I have tried to get credits for this but they say we will give you credits after we fix the phone.  They never fix the phone though so I never get the credits.  It’s like some weird Kafkaesque Catch-22.
I am really so sick of the whole situation that I just want to switch to a different carrier.  I don’t want the cancellation fees though and I want to port my numbers.  I would think I wouldn’t be subjected to the fees because the service doesn’t work, but I’m sure there is some weird catch to that as well.
    Thanks for any help

Since you didn't tell what troubleshooting steps you took, if any, do the followning steps:
    1. Reset phone (no data loss): press both home and power buttons for at least 10 seconds, releasing when the Apple logo appears.
    2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. Replace SIM card from AT&T
    4. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
    5. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup.
    6. Warranty service from Apple.

  • New iphone, intermittent "no service" indoors in good reception area

    Hi. I'm new here.
I've had an iPhone 4 for over 2 years on O2 in the UK, and I've always been able to use it indoors at home. Yesterday, I received my brand new SIM-free iPhone 5, and I plugged in my new Vodafone pay-monthly nano SIM. I moved to Vodafone because they have a good coverage reputation.
According to Vodafone, I live in a good reception area, but indoors the phone signal indicator is moving between 3 bars and No Service. If I leave it on a table, it can change from good to bad over a few minutes, then get better again. This never happened with my old iPhone.
I have called Vodafone, and they say there isn't a service problem at the moment.
I have tried Reset Network Settings, and given the SIM a quick clean.
So, my next line of support would be Apple. But before I contact them, I wondered if anyone here had any advice?

Thanks for the suggestion. I should have said that it was one of the first things I tried. Sorry.
I had a brainwave: I remembered I bought a cheap pay-as-you-go Nokia phone on Vodafone for my kids in August. I switched it on, and put it next to the iPhone 5 on the table, and it's been showing 5 bars for the last 20 minutes. I'm no telecoms engineer, but that suggests to me that the Vodafone network signal is probably ok, and I can rule that out.
