Iphone 4 is incredible slow with os7

Hi, after updating to OS7 my iPhone 4 is incredible slow. Sometimes it takes 10s just to unlock. Calendar, switch between views is so slow, that I start to hate the device eveytime I use it. It was a big mistake to update and I would not have done it, if I new that there is no way back.
Is there any way to get back to a normal speed-level? Would it help to delete music in order to free up space? Any hints welcome!
And if you own an iPhine 4: Don't update!

First thing to try is reset the phone - press sleep/wake button and home button together until Apple logo appears, then let the buttons go and allow phone to finish booting.
Next thing is to switch off iCloud syncing for any apps you don't need it for - Settings>iCloud. In particular switch off Documents & Data there and then switch it back on later if you need it. Try logging out of iCloud and back in again as well.
You can also switch off Settings>General>Background App Refresh for all apps, or just selected ones. Switching off Settings>iTunes & App Store>AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS>Updates can help too.

IPhone 3G running extremely slow with iOS4

Anyone else having issues with their iPhone 3G running extremely slow since the iOS4 update? I am mainly noticing it in my messages, when typing a text message, it takes about 20 seconds to respond after touching the letters and when receiving a text message when in the middle of replying the previous messages disappear up, and you must swipe your finger down the screen to get them back.
Any suggestions to help resolve it?

I just got off the phone with Apple Tech Support (I have the Apple Protection Plan for the 3G iPhone) and he had we do a reset as a new user.
After reading these recent posts, it is obvious that Apple owes us a real fix to their software upgrade.
It's very frustrating to use this phone now especially when it ran so well with the previous OS, 3.1.3.
The fact that Apple does not allow or support downgrading (or, in this case, an "upgrade") to the previous version or a fix now, is not favorable to the company's customers or image, in my opinion.
I specifically asked the tech when a fix will be coming out and he said in a couple of weeks, but that is mainly for the antenna issue. When pressed for an answer to our problems, he said he wasn't sure if that update to version 4 will address the 3G issues.
He suggested I post "product suggestions" @ apple.com/feedack and said that Apple does read these comments as well as the Discussion Boards....
Hey, Apple, if you're reading this......Help us out already with this software mess or face losing customers!!

My Iphone 4 is very slow with the new ios 6.0

I updated my iphone 4 with new ios 6.0 and now my iphone is very very slow (one night to send an email and impossible to put a photo on facebook... MMS impossible to send... as if very heavy...). What's happened ?? Does someone know how to change that or should I return to the ios 5.1.1 version ?

there is no support way to downgrade ios. you can restore your device back to factory setting and see if that helps you

Incredible slowness with LaCie 250 usb drive when trying to delete files

I connected a LaCie d2 250 gigabyte drive to the usb port of the new Airport Extreme. When I try to delete a folder containing a a fairly large amount of data (40,000 files) it took approximately 30 minutes to tally the number of files and then another 20-40 minutes or so to actually delete the files (put them in the trash). I am wondering if the slow performance is normal? I previously used this drive with a direct connection to my MacBook Pro with the firewire cable. Another thing that is curious is that the folder I was deleting was a backup of my old 'Applications' folder (which does not appear to contain many files - maybe 100 icons at the most). Could the usb cable be the culprit (perhaps is only designed for USB 1.1)? It appears quite a few other people are having some similar issues with drives connected to the usb port. Any other ideas? I have ruled out the cable as the problem. I attempted to delete another folder and it took well over 1 hour to tally the files so I gave up and clicked the cancel button to cancel the process. As an experiment I used the same usb cable to directly connect to the MacBook Pro and the folder was deleted in less than 30 seconds. There is definitely some issues with the USB port. Hopefully Apple can resolve this with a firmware or software update.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.
If that doesn't solve the issue, you should back up & restore through iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a new device and test.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Thank you very much for your reply gdgmacguy :) I did all you suggested apart from restore as new device . Didn't know I could do that . After restore I did restore from back up only, as I didn't want to end up without contacts details on my phone. If I restore as new device how do I get my all contacts? That changes things a little bit , login to icloud.com and see if you can find it in your sent folder.
If it is there you did send, just need to wait until you phone syncs "sent folder" perhaps on wifi.
If it is not, then I would say it is lost and you may have to send again. They have 20 megs limit, so make sure that message plus attachment is under that limit.

IPhone 3G screen response slowing down with OS updates

My iPhone is getting slower with every new update of the OS. Sliding bar, received SMS list...generally every screen presentation now takes 1 or more seconds to display. This has only slowed down after the last couple of OS updates. Not happy...it used to have an instant response. Is the new programming for the new iPhone 4 included slowing down the OS for iPhone 3G?

iOs4x definitely does slow down a 3G. The 3G just doesn't have a powerful enough processor.
One trick that seems to make a big difference is to switch off Spotleight indexing. Go to Settings, General, Spotlight Search amd deselect all items.

Why is my iPhone 5 wifi so slow?

I have an iPhone 5 through AT&T, and so does my dad and brother. My mom has an iPhone 4. I've recently noticed that ALL of the iPhone 5s get atrociously slow download speeds (<1Mbps download, >10Mbps upload, ~200ms ping). We pay for 50Mbps download and 25Mbps upload from Verizon Fios. My mom's iPhone 4, my dad's iPad, and all of our laptops have no internet troubles whatsoever.
I've read in a few places to try disabling the WPA2 encryption on my router, and I did so to no avail. I've used multiple routers, including an AirPort Extreme on both 5GHz and 2.4GHz, and all the routers gave similar download and upload rates. It's not even just our wifi, it's ALL wifi: work, schools, restaurants, it doesn't matter. The wifi has horrible download rates and ping.
I've been dealing with this problem for a few weeks now, and no one has seemed to figure out the problem. Might I be able to get a replacement iPhone from the Apple store and see if that fixes the problem? I'm pushing my data limit since I've been forced to use LTE over wifi. Thanks in advance!

Just did a speed test with my iPhone 5 connected to my "n" wireless network encrypted with WPA2 and had the following results.
Ping - 31ms
Download - 20.82 Mbps
Upload - .97 Mbps
I suggest making an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby for a hardware diagnostic to be run.

Restoring as new (as it seems you've already done) is a factory reset. That should have solved your 'slowness'. How many apps do you have?
