IPhone 4 is not recognized by my computer

When I plug my iPhone into my computer, I get a pop up message that my computer does not recognize the device.  I tried unplugging it and re-plugging it in with no luck.  Any suggestions?

I your computer doesn't recognize your phone, update iTunes.  If it's already up to date, uninstall iTunes and all it's components as described here: Win XP, Vista/7.  Then reinstall the latest version of iTunes.

  • My Iphone 2g is not recognized by my computer

My iphone 2g has been deactivated since I got a new iphone 3gs. I would like to give my old iphone to my niece, but it seems the old iphone is not even recognized by the computer as new hardware nor will it charge with my usb/wall charger combo. (Actually, if you leave it plugged in over night it does charge with it, but it doesn't make the charging sound or have the charging icon showing). Still, my biggest concern is that it may not be able to sync to itunes to reactivate if the computer doesn't recognize it. In addition, it will charge just fine with a car charger. This problem actually began before I bought my new phone. I would have to plug and unplug the usb cable several times before it was finally recognized by the computer or the wall charger. I'm thinking there could be a problem with the usb connection on the phone. Any ideas?

  • TS1591 My iPhone 5 is not recognized by my computer running iOS 10.7.5.

The cable works just fine charging in the wall charger.  I've rebooted both the computer and the iphone with no success. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591 has not helped at all.  Any other ideas?

While I appreciate you trying to help, I'm not a fan of being talked to like a child. If you want to see what version of iOS X I'm using, look no further than the title of my question (10.7.5, there, I saved you having to scroll up).
Yes I read what you saying IOS and I thought you made a mistake because Mac operating system is called OSX and not IOS.
Now, I can only assume that your next idea is for me to restart my computer and/or try a different cable. Let's pretend I'm not a complete moron and continue from beyond those steps.
Well, my next idea would be figure it out yourself, if you think answering question is below you.

  • HELP!  error message - Apple iPhone 4s is not recognized on my computer

I have tried everything but continue to get this message and am unable to sync my iPhone.  It is a 4s 32 gb and i am using the the original cable (and have also used the original cable for my iPad - which works for the iPad but not the phone).  To make matters worse, I am not a 'techy' person and only know enough to make me dangerous!!!  I can charge the phone and have tried a few basic things that were suggested by others and nothing seems to work.  Someone suggested a problem with the drivers???  Any suggestions?
Also, occassionally I get a message about the USB has malfunctioned!  I have 4 ports and it makes no difference which one I use.  don't get that with the iPad - only the phone.

LizzieB423, thanks for doing your best to resolve this issue on your own. Have you checked the available storage space at iCloud? If it is full to capacity, then you will be unable to sync your iPhone. You may check the storage in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Available.
If the iCloud is full to capacity, then you may need to delete any unwanted applications, text messages, e-mails, music, notes, and files. Once you have done this, then try to sync your device again. Keep us posted.

  • My iPhone 5c is not recognized by my MacBook Pro or iTunes even though my software and hardware is up to date?

Even though my software and hardware is up to date my new iPhone 5c is not recognized by my computer or itunes, it does not even load or show up on my desktop.  Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm afraid it may be related to activating the phone in the store earlier today and not having my computer on hand?

  • Iphone 4 is not recognized by itunes and is only on emergency mode, keeps telling me to connect to itunes but when I connect iphone to computer it does not recognize it

iphone 4 is not recognized by itunes and is only on emergency mode, keeps telling me to connect to itunes but when I connect iphone to computer it does not recognize it

Did you try recovery mode?  Hold down the home button as you connect it to iTunes.  iTunes should pop up a window that says "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode" and give you the option to restore.

  • IPhone 5 is not recognized in iTunes or on my computer

I have an iPhone 5 and ever since the new iTunes update my iPhone 5 isn't recognized by my computer not will it come up in iTunes at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, restarted my iPhone 5 and it still won't come up on my computer at all when I connect it. All my USB ports are working fine. What can I do to fix this problem? I don't want to restore my phone to factory settings because I will lose everything that will not back up to iCloud since I can't get it connected to the computer to back it up manually.

If you didn't follow this guide when you uninstalled iTunes, you may want to try again following this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923.  It's important to uninstall iTunes and all of its components, and to do so in the specified order, in order to be successful.  There are other troubleshooting steps in this article: iPhone not recognized in iTunes for Windows.

  • My iphone 5s is not recognized by Itunes so I cannot sync with my windows 8.1 . my ipod touch will but not my Iphone. do you have a solution?

My IPhone 5S is not recognized on my Itunes so I cannot transfer music from my library to my phone. I use window 8.1 OS. My ipod touch is recognized so the problem is limited to my IPhone 5S. I have tried the solutions offered by Apple support What can I do?

I had a similar problem with my iPhone and fixed it. You might as well give this a try even if your iPod works. This is what I did. (Follow these steps):
    1. Make sure your phone is not connected/plugged to your computer then continue on step 2.
(For some reason, apparently iTunes also get installed to iPhone's which makes it sort of faulty.)
    2. By going to your computer's Control Panel - Uninstall itunes. To completely uninstall itunes you need to uninstall 5 programs in this very sequence. (You have to make sure you follow this in order.)
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    3. Then simply re-install the latest iTunes. Go tohttp://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ , on the left side of that page you'll see a blue botton that say's "Download Now". Press that button and it should allow you to make sure that you've downloaded the latest iTunes.
    4. Once you've reinstalled it go ahead and start iTunes and connect/plug your iPhone to your computer. iTunes should now be able to recognise your iPhone.
    5. If it still does not work try unplugging your Iphone again, restart your computer and connect your Iphone once more. See it your computer recognises your device.
Steps 1-4 worked out real well for me so I hope it does for you too. If still a no no why not try and contact apple themselves they should be able to give help.
Got all this info with an Apple person. Cheers.

  • My iphone 4 isn't recognized by my computer or itunes

my iphone 4 isn't recognized by my computer or itunes. when plugged in, nothing pops up. my phone does not begin charging or ask me anything. i know the plug is fine because it works in my wall and my computer makes a noise recognizing that something was plugged in.
i found an apple support link and followed every instruction (twice) to install and do all those things to my apple device manager. nothing has changed. i just want to sync with itunes! someone please help.

    Hello Lawrence,
    I do have AppleMobileDeviceService.exe running.
My USBs are plugging in straight into the laptop.  All 4 work.  Just today, I synced my iPod with multiple USB ports.  It works for the iPod, but the iPhone won't pop-up.  The iPhone does not appear in iTunes as a button anywhere.
I am unable to use another computer for this.  I can actually go into iTunes, add file to library, and add photos that way.  So, it's recognized by my computer.
This should have been seperated.  Basically, I don't have another computer accessible to me to back-up sync on iTunes with.
The last part means in iTunes, I can click "File > Add file to library" and the iPhone is shown as a camera icon.  I can click on it and have access to photos.  I can add those photos to the iTunes library.  That's about as far as the connectivity goes with the iPhone right now.

  • My iPhone 4 is not recognized by my laptop or my husbands (Toshiba and HP). His is recognized on both just fine.

I have tried all suggestions from apple and google and nothing. I have uninstalled iTunes and all Apple software in the order suggested by iTunes, restarted my laptop, updated all software on my laptop, reinstalled iTunes, restarted my iPhone, rebooted by pressing the top and home button, tried different laptops and cables, made sure Apple mobile support is installed, deleted and reinstalled all usb drivers... I don't know what else to do. I've also connected the phone, and under device manager, scanned for new or changed hardware.
The thing is, it doesn't recognize MY iPhone 4. It does recognize my husband, same cords. Is there a setting on my phone that got changed? I need to upload my pictures so I can have room to update my phone. I cannot update using iTunes, because it is not recognized by any computer. I don't know what to do. Has anyone else had and solved this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kara

My iPhone 5 is not recognized by iTunes. My iPhone is iOS 7.0.4 and my iTunes is 11.1.4. When i connect my iPhone to the computer, all that happens is the file view opens and shows how mush usage i have left on my phone. And when i try to connect it to iTunes, it does not recognize my phone at all. When i used to plug my phone in, iTunes would automatically pop up and i was able to download music or whatever to with iTunes.
