IPhone 4 issues from 4.3.1 update onwards.

Hey guys, I have two issues with my iPhone 4 GSM which I purchased a week ago.
It was preloaded with firmware 4.3, and I have the phone on the Virgin $69 plan. The day I received my phone and activated it with iTunes, all was well, the phone was receiving strong signals from Virgin. In all, the phone was faultless.
Come later that day when I upgraded my iPhone to 4.3.1, this was when the problems started, as after the upgrade, the phone refused to receive signals, displaying a "No Service" error. Since then I have tried restarting my iPhone, turning Airplane Mode on/off, resetting the network settings, taking out the SIM card and re-inserting it into the phone, restoring the phone's firmware and hard resets, but nothing has worked. Virgin Customer Service couldn't do much to help either as they claimed that their service was functioning perfectly. So I paid a visit to Genius Bar and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday; whereas at the same time the friendly Apple staff member suggested that I upgrade to 4.3.2 which was released this morning.
Now I have just upgraded to 4.3.2, expecting my SIM and reception issues to be resolved. But nooooo. The phone continues to display "No Service", and also a new problem arised after the update; everytime I restarted or turned on my iPhone, the SIM card would be locked and I'd have to enter the PUK in order to unlock it. I have already attempted restoring the iPhone, to no avail.
This is pretty frustrating; and I am glad that I booked that Genius Bar appointment because I was pretty convinced that 4.3.2 would solve all my problems. But I was wondering if any of you guys are suffering the same fate as I am and also was wondering if you guys had any other solutions.
PS it kinda ***** to find out that you can't downgrade your firmware anymore.

Have you done any of the basic troubleshooting outlined in the manual?
Reset?
Restore?
Pop the SIM out and reseat it?

    You can NOT unlock it. Only the carrier it is locked to can legally authorize unlocking it and the Japanese carriers will not do so.
    In order to be using it previously with a non Japanese carrier, the phone had to be hacked to illegally unlock it.  You can not get help here.
    Buy a new phone you can use.

    Besides all the other problems, lets add this little nugget. My iPhone has worked great for a year with the usual little hiccups here and there. So since the 2.0.1 upgrade when the phone is docked it gets better reception than not. I live in the same house since I got the phone a year ago and reception was good. Now if I take it off the dock to either answer or make a call I get "NO SERVICE". Constant screen freezes to black and so on. Locks up repeatedly daily, just a joke. I do not feel this is an AT&T issue, this is merely the software upgrade. Everything was fine before. Hopefully this new upgrade will help, but the phone is getting worst by the day.

    well try the new 2.0.2 update and see if that makes a difference certainly can't hurt it seems

    I would like to know how to stop the automatic update of iOS6 download directly to my iphone 4 without me telling it to go ahead and download it.  It's so sneaky, it keeps automatically downoading the update (2+GB) and take up that same amount of space on my iphone once I charge it to full power.  And it will stay like that along with me losing 2+GB of space to apple unless I install the update.
    However, I refuse to install the update when it doesn't have google map, youtube apps and still having problem with wifi connection and data overusage due to some unknown bug and not the customer using it.  I have reseted my iphone 3 times back to the original factory setting so I can reclaim that 2GB storage space and keep my iOS5 already, but everytime I did that, it would just redownloaded the update again without asking for my confirmation after I charge the phone to full power.  Is there anyway to stop this insanity?  I don't want to do hard reset/activate phone again and again just to rid of this automatic download.  It's wasting my time, my storage space and my bandwidth....and I do not have unlimited storage space.  Please help!!!

    I would disable wifi before plugging it in to charge.  Eventually, you will need to update as only the current version of IOS will be supported.

    Today I was in Manhattan and wanted to try out the 3G network (that I don't have where I live in CT). I had about 17 apps that needed to be updated, so I thought I might as well let them do their thing while I drove in.
    Long story short, having all these apps updating went on for HOURS, and in the end crashed my phone and left it frozen on the startup screen until I got home and forced a restore. Probably not a good idea in the first place...
    My question: is there a way to cancel an app update once you've started one over WIFI or 3G/Edge?
    Seems like an essential function .. if not..

    This is an unnecessary function if it does NOT WORK.
    Don't bother updating iPhone apps over 3G/wi-fi.

    I have needed to update my Iphone 5s from the past 2 updates but it says that I have 4.2 GB of saved messages.  I don't know where to go to delete them.  I delete regular messages from my phone daily so I'm not sure what is being saved and where.

    You would need to set up your mail account as a POP account instead of IMAP.

    Yeah, it´s happening in normal 3g coverage area, in fact, i used the 3g to download the iOS but after installing it, the phone doesn't get the 3g anymore.
    I tryed the reboot pocess, but it didn't fix it
    I haven't tryed the restore to factory settings process,
    Is there a way to downgrade to iOS 5.1 again?

    my friend got it unlocked from hyderabad ,there the mobile guy assured us that he will factory unlock it for rs 5000.. he just took the imei number and in 3 days iphone 5s was unlocked. he didnt take the phone so i knew he didnt jailbreak it or did some hacking stuff .. i have the box with me too with all accessories.but my friend doesnt know which carrier to it was locked....as his friend gave it to him from usa
    on reading problems on  net i just stopped the update via wi fi.fearing it will be locked again :/

    Thanks for the update and clarification. In researching the issue it seems that the 2003 error code may have something to do with the USB connection. I would use this section of one of the above articles:
    Get help with iOS update and restore errors
    If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you might not be able to update or restore.
    To narrow down the issue, you can try different equipment:
    Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable. 
    Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
    Try a different computer.
    Solve other issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
    If you still see the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section.
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
    These errors mean that your device or computer might have a hardware issue that stops the update or restore from completing.
    Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
    Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
    Make sure that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
    If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

    Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
    Apple has never supported downgrading of the iOS.
