IPhone 4 keyboard lag after ios5

I noticed a huge lag after the upgrade and also some lag in scrolling occasionally.  Anyone else have this or know of a solution?  Thanks!!

ipod touch 4th gen, in pages.app and some other text apps .. very bad delay in typing, yes. Filed a bug report to Apple.

  • 3Gs Keyboard lag with iOS5

    I've noticed that there appears to be serious keyboard lag with iOS5 on the 3Gs 16GB model that I have.
    Anyone else?

    I just update to iOS 5 few days ago, well, the new features were just fantastic, but I found a lag problem with my iPhone4, yes, it was LAG. Major LAG
    here are some cases：
    1. lag when scrolling（such as in address book or other pages with long contents)
    2. lag when opening a folder or closing a folder
    3. all game sthat once played well are now like a 16 bit movie.
    the issue seems just like a computer in high CPU usage or with low memory, and sometimes it made me a little bit freak out. And want to shut the phone down.
    After I cleared all the histories and cookies and caches and closed all background APPs, the issue remained,,,
    There was no problem when my iPhone 4 was iOS 4.1 and previous versions.
    and my iOS 4.2.1 works fine inside the APPs,,,

  • KEYBOARD LAG: My iPhone's keyboard lags.

    Especially when I am texting and entering information in Safari, my (Black 16GB 3G) iPhone's keyboard lags. Sometimes it misses a letter or it takes a couple seconds to do something. And usually all the sudden everything is erased or for example I get something like: apppppppppppppppppppple. It's a pain, but on some things, like entering contacts, it doesn't happen.
    What should I do? Do I just have to live with it; is this something that every single iPhone has, or do I need a replacement. (And don't say I need to restore because I've already done that four times for different reasons, and this lag has been going on throughout.)

    I'll be calling Apple tomorrow, and let you know what I hear.
    As for low memory, that could mean RAM, which might mean you have a lot going on at once... I guess if some Apps run in the background. Most likely it just means you have many songs, videos, apps, etc. You can check how much space you have by clicking settings, general, about and look at what it says next to available. Also, after the iPhone is formatted, there is only 14.6 GB available.

    i upgraded my iphone 4 but now i can't use facebook, get my emails...anything that uses the internet isn't working anymore!! it says 'could not activate cellular data network...'etc...please help!!
    i can only use it for texts, phone calls and camera at the moment which is not why i chose iphone!

    Settings/General/Reset Reset Network Settings, then reboot (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears)
    If you have an Exchange email account and still have the problem do the following:
    Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, tap on the Exchange account and delete it. Reboot. Go back to Settings and add it back.
    There are other possibilities, including misbehaving applications, but this is a common problem with Exchange.

  • A80-131 ... unbelievable keyboard lag after reinstall

    Hi there,
    I am tring to complete a reinstallation of everything' on a Toshiba A80-131. The computer came in spanish but the owner wants everything in english. So I have installed winXP sp1 and all drivers I could find on the toshiba site. I am left with 1 unidentified PCI device, and this insane keyboard lag. As an illustration, it took me about 4 minutes to type the text in this message up to here. I type and then sit back and watch the characters appear at a rate of just less than 1 per second
    I have managed to install updates including SP2. I have put in Spybot S&D and Adaware, and they are both happy. Everything works fine, but not the keyboard (and then there is the PCI mystery). It feels like there is a buffer that is being strangled somewhere ...
    Dont tell me is a PCI keyboard ;)
    Any pointers? Even google couldnt help.

    The lag is caused by the "Toshiba Zooming Driver" or the "Controls Driver" I know. It happened to me too.
    Either install the corresponding utilities or remove those drivers by running their install application and by choosing "Remove" when they say that they're already installed.
    Regarding the PCI mystery...not all drivers are in the Toshiba site, like the "Ricoh Secure Module" for SD cards.
    If you didn't create the drivers CD from the original XP install, then you should recover the hard drive from the supplied DVD, create the drivers CD and then do your own OS installation.
    Another thing. My A80-131 has no IR or bluethooth, so there is no need to install those drivers. Check what
    hardware yours has to avoid installing unnecessary software.

  • IPhone 4S: Keyboard disappeared after latest update to iOs 8.

    After this latest iOS update ( 8 ) the keyboard on my iPhone 4S has gone missing. When I go to type something the emoji screen appears but is unresponsive. An acquaintance told me to power down the iPhone, take out the battery for a few seconds, re-insert battery and power back up. I'm hesitant about doing this.

    That is a new feature described in Connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch using Continuity
    You can turn it off by going to Settings > FaceTime and turn "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off.
    The quote below is from the above link and gives more description of when it would work with that setting turned on.
    Phone calls
    To make and receive phone calls on your iPad or iPod touch, here's what you need:
    Your iPhone and your iPad or iPod touch need to use iOS 8 or later.
    Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
    Both devices must be signed in to FaceTime using the same Apple ID.
    This means any iOS device that shares your Apple ID will get your phone calls. Look below for instructions on how to turn off iPhone cellular calls.
    Wi-Fi Calling needs to be off.

    never mind the problem has been fixed, it was third party keyboards that corrupted the original keyboard, as soon as I removed the third party keyboards and rest the phone, the original keyboard came back

  • How can I update my iPhone 3gs to iOS4, after iOS5 came out?

    I am still running iOS 3 (1.3) on my iPhone 3GS and I'm happy with it - but all the new apps requires iOS4 and now I'm sick of this. I want iOS4 (and not iOS5, cause it will drain my battery as far as I've understood).
    How can I update my iPhone 3GS in a normal way to iOS4, through iTunes or another easy way? I have never jailbreaked an iPhone so I don't know too much about "backdoors" into my iPhone.

    The only Firmware in the iOS 4 series that Apple is still signing for the iPhone 3GS is 4.1. So you could restore  to 4.1. You will have to download the 4.1 IPSW from Apple, and then install it with iTunes, Option Click Mac or Shift Click Windoz, on the Restore Button and then select the 4.1 IPSW on your computer. The current iTunes may give meaningless Errors, I doubt because you are Upgrading. But if Error Message is given you will have to search the Web for ways to Exit Recovery.

         First let me start off by saying that I feel Apple is a SUPERIOR company and 99% of the time have excellent things to say about their products. I will, and in this case have once again, continue to buy their products over any other company. That being said....
         I updated my iPhone 3GS on 12 Oct 11. When the process was almost completed I received the message that iTunes was unable to continue with activation at this time. I have called customer support numerous times (Case ID: 252118395) and have gone to the Apple store where I live. No one can seem to figure out what happened with the update or my iPhone. I tried reinstalling the OS over 50 times now and receive the same message. I went three days without a phone before I was forced to buy the 4S model. I am a career soldier waiting to deploy and going that long without a phone was unacceptable. All my 3GS has on the screen now is the gray screen saying "iPhone" and different languages scroll across. The last 4 times I have contacted Apple reference this I sit on hold for about 20 minutes and then it just goes to a ringing sound with no answer. This is absolutely unacceptable and I know Apple is a better company than to just keep giving me answers of, "I don't know what's wrong; keep trying; Give it more time." The Apple store manager at the Colorado Springs store told me it was because iOS5 wasn't compatible with the 3GS model; though your website clearly says it is as I told her. I was also told by an "Apple Genius" at the same store my "best friend" in my case was to "Google" it to see about unlocking the phone and reinstalling iOS 4 but she, "Couldn't really tell me that." Of a side note the complete lack of professionalism and "hey bro" attitude at this store was in stark contrast to the professional atmosphere and service excellence that the late Mr. Jobs fostered. All I want is for my old iPhone 3GS to be restored so at least we can use it for an iPod Touch. I have exhausted all attempts to contact Apple. A prompt response would be greatly appreciated as I know you are a much better run company than this and you give no real e-mail link to help out with such matters. Has anyone else had this issue???

    My iPhone 3Gs is not detecting any carriers.  I have just upgraded to ios 5.
    I have tried my SIM in another phone and it is working OK.  The phone was unlokced by O2 and I have tried an O2 SIM in it which also does not work.
    When I manually search for carriers then none are found.
    I'm beginning to think this is a hardware fault.
    Any ideas?

    Dowloaded os7 last night, now it takes 30secs or so to enter a 4 digit code, the same when trying to write a text, you press a key, it clicks, then nothing happens for what seems an age, about 10 secs in truth, been on to tech support, can help me, restored through I tunes no improvement, help!     I have the same problem with my iPhone 4. It is about 3 months old and the wear/damage that I can assume is bein done is going to....fry it, I would say render it useless but iOS 7 has done that already. I did not agree to download this new iOS Apple made the discion for me to install it "OTA" which they said was the problem and I should restore to factory default without backup, clean install. I did and it changed nothing. Running absolute barebones, no apps, no music, and every feature that is possible to disable, disabled. The 3G data randomly and often just stops working and I have to hard restart. When it is working it is worthless anyway, staring at the screen 10 minutes to load apple.com in safari. I have been an exclusive iPhone user for years and never thought I would say this but I will never buy another iPhone after this. I'm completely shocked. Steve Jobs must be turning over in his grave. I used to be so impressed with Apples attention to customer satisfaction. It's a shame shareholders aren't more concerned about their profit margins a few years from now.

  • IPhone won't backup after iOS5 update

    I recently updated my iPhone 4 using a friend's computer to get the new iOS5 update. Long story short, my computer has ruined 2 iphones attempting updates, therefore I used another computer. I had to delete all of my data in order to receive the update from a different computer so when I brought the phone home to put all of my data back on the phone, it froze on step 2 out of 8 (backup). I've even left it plugged in all night and that doesn't work. I have talked to the apple support line three times already. They've suggested that I disable antivirus (didn't work) and also completely uninstall iTunes and reinstalling (also did not work). Someone please help me! An iPhone that won't hold my own music, apps, videos and photos anymore is 100% WORTHLESS!

    If you are using a Mac, go to Settings>Software Update ... check for any updates, and update all.
    Chances are you are not using iTunes 10.5, which is required to sync iOS 5.
    If youare using a PC, suggest you uninstall your iTunes, download fresh iTunes 10.5 from Apple.com/itunes and install it.

    well went to update my iphone to the ios 5 today all was going ok till it downloaded it sed it was looking for drivers then downloaded the drivers then i got a error and it put my phone into recovery mode itunes says i need to restore it to factory and update but when i do this halfway through the update its liek itunes times out and my phone disconnects then reconnects then it comes up again i need to restore and update whislt its still downloading so i click ok then the download finsihes and nothing happens im gutted i dont know what to do

    try this First, You will not lose any data.
    Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
    Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
    Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
    Usually takes about 10-15 Seconds.
    Release the buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
    You may have to restore as new...
