Iphone 4 lost contacts

Is there any way to recover lost contact information from iCloud once it's been erased?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Only by restoring from a back up that contains them.

  • IPhones lost contacts and e-mail when activesync server was down

We have about 20 iPhone 3GS syncing to our Exchange 2003 Server running on Windows Small Business Server 2003.
    All iPhones have software 3.1
All iPhones were setup to use ActiveSync using iPhone Configuration Utility
Our Exchange server went down on a maintenance restart. When it was restarted we had some unknown failure to the ActiveSync functionality between IIS and Exchange. iPhones trying to sync got an HTTP 500 Error response, which I could see from the console log of the iPhone. The error message was:
Thu Oct 15 14:43:09 unknown dataaccessd[22] <Warning>: EAS|connection died with error Error Domain=ASHTTPConnectionErrorDomain Code=500 "Operation could not be completed. (ASHTTPConnectionErrorDomain error 500.)" 0x174480
Thu Oct 15 14:43:09 unknown dataaccessd[22] <Warning>: EAS|ASFolderSyncTask failed: Error Domain=ASHTTPConnectionErrorDomain Code=500 "Operation could not be completed. (ASHTTPConnectionErrorDomain error 500.)"
We rebuilt the Internet settings on the small business server and got the ActiveSync functionality working again. But this was after 24 hours.
All iPhones lost all e-mail during the 24 hours of ActiveSync downtime.
Approximately 60% of the iPhones lost all contacts during the downtime.
All iPhones kept their calendars during the downtime.
Other ActiveSync clients running Windows Mobile 6.1 or Symbian on Nokia N82 did not delete their contacts or e-mails during the downtime.
Is there any setting that governs this, may I say unexpected, behaviour? Makes it impossible to depend on iPhone e-mail - who knows when the Exchange Server will go down...
Does anyone know why 40% of the iPhones kept their contacts while the other 60% deleted them? They have all been purchased together and set up in the exact same manner.
I have tried to contact Apple support, but the automated voice just said that the network operator handles iPhone problems. The operator did not have a clue about Exchange servers and iPhones...
    Thank you in advance!
    Tobias

Usually once items are removed from the server, they are gone for good. Sorry to hear about the loss of contacts. We would like to check though to see if they can be retrieved. So we can get more information from you, I have copied your post to our private support board. Please refer all correspondences to there from here on out. You can easily get to the private support one of two ways. In the email you signed up for the forums with, you will receive a link to click on. Make sure you are already signed into the forums before clicking on this link. Another way of getting there is by clicking on your username anywhere you see it in the forums. • Iphone lost contacts and possible hack

My wife's iPhone and iPad keep asking her to provide her password to receive emails and this morning has lost a lot of her contacts including regularly used contacts.  A day ago it said she had overnight changed her used name and password when she had not.  Has she been hacked?  Our ISP is Btinternet.com.
There is nothing on Apples support site about hacking.  Help.

I just had the same thing happen.  All of a sudden all contacts and calendar events were gone from the phone.  I sync with Yahoo and I deleted the account, re-established it again, still no contacts or calendar events.  The other problem that cropped up a couple of weeks ago were that my photos were frozen.  I can take pictures just fine, but when I want to review or send them.  The app locks up each and every time.
The solution?  I powered the phone down and once I powered it back up, everything now works!  Contacts and calendar events are back and the photo app works again!

  • Iphone lost contacts

i've added ios5 to my pc and now when i plug my iphone 3 to charge and sync, it lost all contacts!  even texts only show numbers not contact names.  where do i go to change this to get back my contacts.  i noticed on my outlook page it's now under icloud contacts but i can't find that on itunes to sync that to my iphone.

    Maenmassa,
Are they erased out of Address Book on your Mac and your iPhone? If so, since I see you are using Leopard, do you use Time Machine? Or do you have another backup of your contacts on your computer that you can import?
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

  • My contacts on my old Iphone I gave a family member were deleted then synced to icloud.  My current iphone lost all its contacts when it next synced.  I retreived a 6mth old backup to get my contacts, but I want my recent messages back, any help?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • Lost all my contacts in Mac address book.  Tried syncing my iPhone/iPad contacts to Mac is not working.  Please help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unless you have the contacts backed up somewhere, you won't be able to restore them.
You and your son should have your own iCloud accounts then you can keep your own contacts and calendars etc and avoid deleting each others.

  • Bought a new iphone and i cant activate it unless the previous owner deletes the account from their icloud but i lost contact with the previous owner how can i fix this?

bought a new iphone and i cant activate it unless the previous owner deletes the account from their icloud but i lost contact with the previous owner how can i fix this?

Take it back where you got and and get your money back.
As has been pointed out, if there was a "previous owner", the phone is not "new". Thephone you purchased is most likely stolen. If whoever you bought it from won't give you your money back, turn it over to the police.

  • I found out that I have some lost contacts on my iphone 5s, they dont appear when I search but if the contact calls me I see their name. How can I get those contacts to be on the list?

I found out that I have some lost contacts on my iphone 5s, they dont appear when I search but if the contact calls me I see their name. How can I get those contacts to be on the list?

You could check settings > mail contacts and calandars and see if there are any accounts (like icloud gmail yahoo) listed and if they have contacts on. Its possible if contacts were synced to one of these accounts that turning them back on will recover the missing contacts.

  • My wife's iPhone lost it's contacts.

My wife's iPhone lost it's contacts.
I notice that none of here accounts have contacts selected.  How can I add contacts back into her accounts?

Talked to a Support person and solved the issue.  I needed to delete and re-add iCloud on her iPhone.  There is an issue with iCloud that Apple is aware about that is being fixed on the next IOS update.

  • IPhone 4s lost contacts & won't restore

I Recently lost all my contacts on my 4s & have tried 5 times to restore it but it continues to lock up.
Last night I was able to retrieve some thru a partial restore ( locked up again so I rebooted the iPhone)
to to find most contacts. Then not 5 mins later they where gone again just by hitting any key. I've tried
sync again with no luck. Also tried icloud backup but no luck & it only has some of my contacts which
doesnt make much sense. I also removed the SIM card & put it back in.
I tried turning off/on contacts button that Didn't work either. Can anyone help or is this just a complete
    loss! Thx 4 reading

You can try iPhone Data Recovery. You are provided three ways to restore contacts on iPhone, which are recovering them directly on iPhone, from an iPhone backup, and from iCloud backup files. What you have to do is very simple.
Step 1.Install iPhone Data Recovery and connect your iPhone to your computer.
Step 2. Choose a suitable mode to continue
You can choose "Recover from iOS Device", "Recover Deleted contacts from iTunes" or "Restore Contacts from iCloud". You can choose a favorable mode to continue the progress.
Step 3. Click "Scan" your iPhone
Step 4. Preview the contacts and recover deleted them from iPhone
I believe you can retrieve your lost contacts.

  • All backup/sync files for Iphone lost on old PC, anyway to sync with new PC without losing music, photos, contacts and texts?

All backup/sync files for Iphone lost on old PC, anyway to sync with new PC without losing music, photos, contacts and texts?

Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your iphone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your device got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
Apps can be downloaded again for free, in the US music as well. Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • How to recover lost contacts (i just back up my iphone 5)

I just back up my iphone 5 before updating for the new update.
After back up from 900+ contacts it became 142.
    so i lost 800+ contacts.
how can i recover my lost contacts?

if they are showing in the device as a ghost contact, your best bet would be to restore from the backup:
iCloud and iTunes can back up most data on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Backed-up information includes purchased music, TV shows, apps, and books*; photos and video in the Camera Roll; device settings (for example, Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts); app data; Home screen and app organization; Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and more. Media files synced from your computer aren’t backed up, but can be restored by syncing with iTunes.
    * Backup of purchased music is not available in all countries. Backup of purchased TV shows occurs only in the United States. Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.

    iCloud
    How to back up
iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your device using iOS 5 or later. After you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in Settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage, it will run on a daily basis as long as your device is:
Connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi
    Connected to a power source
    Screen locked
You can also back up manually whenever your device is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi by choosing Back Up Now from Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup. To learn more about what is backed up, see the iCloud: Backup and Restore Overview article.
How to restore from a backup
When you go through Setup Assistant on a new device using iOS 5 or later, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose from which backup to restore. If the home screen icons appear on your device and you wish to restore from an iCloud backup, erase your device (by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings). When prompted to set up as new or to restore from previous backup, select Restore from iCloud Backup. Enter your AppleID and password when prompted. After your device restarts, your settings and accounts are restored and Backup starts downloading your purchased music, TV shows, apps, books, Camera Roll, and other content*. For best battery performance, leave your device connected to a power source until the restore is complete. You may be prompted to enter the passwords for all accounts enabled on your device.A progress bar will appear underneath the apps that are being downloaded. To prioritize the restore of a specific app, tap its icon. Restore will attempt to download the same version of the app that you had installed previously. If that version is no longer available, the latest version of the app will be restored. To check if the restore is complete, go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.

  • Lost iphone, retrieving contacts ?

    Hello,
I lost my iphone, and i'd like to retrieve my contacts saved in itunes without using another Iphone, and I did not synchronize my contacts with outlook. Is that possible because i have an another phone which is not an iphone (for the moment) so i would like to know if i can get my contacts back ?
    Thanks everybody for your answer.

Since you have lost your iPhone, you cannot restore with iTunes. However, as long as you have an iTunes backup, you can extract the lost contacts from previous iTunes backup using an iPhone backup extractor.
Even if you haven’t backed up your iPad with iTunes manually, iTunes might have backed up it automatically each time you sync your iPhone 3GS with iTunes.
In addition, you can copy the contacts from your old phone to your phone, or sync the phone with some cloud service that you used to sync your iPhone data previously, e.g. Google Contacts. This 6-method iPhone contacts recovery blog will be helpful.
