Hi, I have recently bought a mac book pro. When I connected my iPhone 4 however, nothing appeared to happen!? How do I sync my phone with the mac book/itunes? Thank you in advance for any answers. Dan

You wil still need to copy everything from the computer you were using, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one. The iphone is not a storage/backup device.
You still haven't said what your issue is.

I'm running a iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.2 and Macbook Pro with Mavericks. I recently had to do a full restore on my phone and since then I'm having trouble syncing events between the two devices on iCal. I moved time zones recently too so that might be part of the issue. I changed the time zone to the correct one in iCloud and on my Macbook itself as well on the iPhone though for the last two I'm not sure if there are special iCal settings relating to that. I kept noticing a one hour difference between events on my phone and Mac so I experimented a bit with the time zone support category in iCal advanced settings on my Mac and on my iPhone but now it seems like if I post a new event on my Mac it simply appears as a blank new event on my phone and at the wrong time. If I post an event on my iPhone it will appear at the correct time on my Mac. I'm also noticing some of my events on my Mac stating the time zone while others are not. I scanned the forums but didn't find a solution yet so I hope these details help and that it's a quick fix. I'm not sure if I have to connect my iPhone to my Mac via USB and change some setting in iTunes. Help would be much appreciated! Thanks

I have no idea but for some reason it now seems to be fine. I didn't change anything at all so I'm not sure about the solution or what the problem was in the first place.

Syncing iPhone and iPad with Mac Book Pro

Is it possible to sync my iPhone and iPad to my Mac Book Pro and have the same screens and apps? I see where all apps appear in my iPad syncing window, but I cannot make it exactly like my iPhone... Is this possible? Thank you!

Hi Kristi,
Connect your iPad and your iPhone to your MBPro. Launch iTunes. Under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window you can select either device then select Apps from the menu.
You can drag home screens and rearrange apps right from that window. Very smart idea on your part to do that. That way it's the same (or close to) on both devices.

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.

Mac iOS version 10.5.8 and iTunes on Mac is 10.6.1. iPad and iPhone version is 6.0(10A403). When I check for updates on the Mac book pro it says software versions are up to date.
When I check for iTunes version 10.6.3 it looks like it is for snow leopard operating system which I am not on. How to I get my devices to sync with computer. Everything worked prior to iOS 6 upgrade on remote devices.

I iust updated the iPhone to iOS6 (thought it wasn't syncing before the update either).
Macbook Pro running Mac OS 10.5.8
iTunes 10.6.3 (i.e. latest update - which hasn't had an issues apart from syncing).
I tried 3 different USB sync cables. Still not syncing.
Do I really have to update my Mac OS to 10.6.8 in order to sync my phone ? I thought as long as you have iTunes 10.6.3 you're ok...
Is there a way to update to Mac OS 10.6.8 (or later) without wiping the hard drive and doing a new install?..

I need to talk to someone about changing all of my accounts. A iCloud account was opened not by me and I lost 17 years of contacts. I have slowly gotten them back. My files from my Mac Book were taken and are gone. It has cost me about 60,000 dollars in business since November which has effected my staff as well. Many personal ireplacable memories of my childrens Photos were taken, Business, designs and accounting and personalFiles you name it gone or corrupted. My main PC including 4 external hard drives, then the Mac Book, My Iphones,itouch. Ipad were next and then my Mac Book pro. This is very humbling and heart felt. those who work with me have very strong beliefs, it was an internal doing or I should say someone gained or was allowed access to my home and equipment. I travel and tour and am gone quite a bit. This was and is the most difficult thing that has happened to me in a long time. In truth business and work will and can be rectified that not the point. It's how and what has been done which is the most damaging very personal almost vidictive but I will stop there. I feel so violated and saddened at the same time. I am hoping to contact someone through Apple or even an outside source to see if my files can be recouped and how to go about doing these changes all at once without all of the emails back and forth to approve changes in accounts what a pain. I want to change all accounts associated with apple. Apple ID and Pass words, I tunes ID and Pass word you name it.When I leave for work now days I have to take all of my equipment or lock things in the safe. I have an alarm system that is very good in additons to, animals still with the animals inside the motion detectors are off and in reality the damage has been done . I now this sounds crazy but I have proof of my back up files not all of them plus you can see in my documents all of my business accounts which are in orderof complition and dates are empty. My email accounts were also hacked and thru that individuals were able to change at will. When you have over 20 years of an association and relationships they know everything about someone. I do not want to press charges but I am to that point I need to bring in someone to investigate and I really do not know whom to even call. I have won awards for my work and my designs and information being taken has hurt more than words can express. I am currently out of town doing this late at night. I have changed my banking you name it. I need to have access to my computers to work but the stress of these constant changes and invasion of privacy are beyond expression. I plug in any of my usb drives and they are empty or my computers do not recognize them. I plug in my usb connector from my HP 8100 Printer with Blue tooth capabilities and it pops up and an external E drive for downloading just like an external drive. My printer acepts every imaginable portable disk on the market . Many of my usb drives are gone or have been corrupted. I have this darn air drop that goes on all the time. My computers I turn off and then they are on when I get up. I can go on and on. I live in the bay area and I am asking for help in trying to stop all of this. I will call Apple next but I wanted to put it out on this forum with the hopes of some response or input. I have all of my new and very minimal recovered information now on a web-based server which I know is safe the pass words and set up were done very discreetly (one can only hope). I apologize in advance for laying this out there like this. I am just so frustrated and because of the POSSIBLE implications makes it even harder In which I truly want to be proven wrong. I have never written or thought that I would be doing this as it is. If anything I hope some good comes out of this for someone. Bluetooth is a powerful tool this much I know now. Wow this is just simply amazing. There are 14 products I have purchased. I have been a windows person for years because of my work somethings are prapriatary to that OS but I love the Apple products. I am despratley trying not to nor will I throw in the towel. I know its a great product and its not the product. I just want to have the best opotunity to recover and have control over my designs and pretty much my privacy and peace of mind not too much to ask..:-) Oh! do not get me wrong I am willing to pay for services thats not the issue here. Once again thank you for at least espressing my frustrations.

How to make my iphone sync with my Mac Book Pro without icloud

My iphone no longer syncs with Mac Book Pro now that I have downloaded Maverick. It just flicks open synching and flicks on to say "waiting for change to be applied" before it closes it's attempt at syncing and does nothing. I have read elsewhere it is because Maverick wants us to use icloud but I don't want to sync my contacts and calendar on icloud as it is not secure enough with the confidential information I have on my calendar and in contacts. I just want to make sure that my contacts are backed up on my computer as well as my calendar saying the same thing on my iphone as well as my Mac. My Mac calendar is the most up to date version at the moment and when I go out to meetings I want my iphone to be up to date too. All help appreciated in solving this syncing problem. Thanks

Plug yr iPhone to your compu in the old fashioned way with cable.
Just to cover yourself...select the iPhone in Devices of left pane of iTunes window, then on main pane, select radio button Back up to Computer. Right click on the iPhone in devices, do a backup. It shld then be on your compu'.
Then, back in main windo, select Info 'tab' from top of the right pane, and tick the Sync iCal events.
I'm sure this will help.
If it all goes pear-shape, u have the backup to restore the pre-sync device.

HT4061 iTunes will not open when my iPhone 4S is attached to my Mac Book Pro. iTunes will start up but as soon as my iPhone appears in the list of devices the program then quits and displays the message 'iTune Quit Unexpectedly'? Can anybody help?

The Problem/s
1. I am unable to sync my iPhone 4S with my Mac Book Pro, either by cable, wifi or bluetooth
2. iTunes will initiall open and briefly identifies the iPhone in the Device section in iTunes.
3. When iTunes starts to read the iPhone (displaying the spinning wheel), it immediately then quits and
4. Opens a 'dialogue box' which displays the message "iTunes Quit Unexpectedly"
5 The dialoge box offers the following button options to:-
'Show Details'
The 'Show Details' button will open and display a list of the 'Problem Details and System Configeration'. To the average user the information is useless, as one doesn't know what to look for to solve the problem. This is a long and detailed report (too long to include in this message), which includes information such as:-
Crashed Thread: 20
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000000000006f0
'OK'
The 'Ok' button simply quits and closes the dialogue box
'Reopen'
The 'Reopen' button will again reopen iTunes, briefly showing that it is trying to read the iPhone in the Devices section, but then returns again to display the same dialogue box.
Other Information
1. iTunes will still start normally once the USB cable is removed from the Mac book Pro, but crashes again once the USB cable is reattached to the computer
Any advice or help offered would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I have the most strangest event to report am really freaking out as Im not too sure of how it was possible but I am sure that there is someone out there who may! I will outline below exactly the circumstances in which this bizarre occurred:
1. Turned on Mac Book Pro (OS X 10.6.8)
2. Opened my VNC remote viewer to remote connect to my Windows 7 PC
3. Connected with my computer and opened an MS Word 2007 document
4. Selected and copied the text in this document
5. On my visible MAC tool bar I opened "Text Edit"
6. Then hit cmd+v to paste the text from this document from the Windows PC to the Mac text edit document
This is when I got a little disturbed - I will be as thorrough as possible:
The paste function worked as per normal in the fact that some text did appear in my text edit document but it was not the text sourced from the word document is was something completely different - In fact the text startlingly was originally from a text message I sent over 10 days ago on my iphone 5. I am more than baffled how this text has managed to mysteriously appear from my "Un-connected" Iphone 5 to a text document on my Mac Book!?!?!? It is beyond freaking me out until................I just happened to open my "notes" app on my Iphone and the first thing I saw was an old note i created that was infact this text that appeared on my Mac!
"A little background history on where the text came from: I had a text message exchange/conversation with someone I then wanted to send this complete exchange to someone else via text message but so it read all in one long complete unbroken message I individually copied each text exchange and pasted in sequentially into the note document until I had the whole conversation in there then copied the entire Note document and pasted it into messages and then text it to someone"
OK, so I think that this may now be something un-supernatural however, I need to determine exactly how this procedure occurred! I am still utterly baffled as:
1. I did not connect or even touch my notes app that day on my iphone and actually have not touched it since I created that note over 10 days ago
2. Checked my icloud settings on my Iphone and can see I have not got notes selected/activated
I hope I have not missed anything out but if anyone has any intelligent respones that may solve this mystery I was be extremely grateful.

Copy the entire iTunes folder within the music folder on your old Mac to the music folder on your new Mac.
You can use an external hard disc for the transfer, or you can connect the computers together using Firewire Target Disc Mode as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661

Hotmail on a Mac is POP3 only, you will only get the basic folders (inbox, sent, trash etc) and it will not sync with other devices.
And now I post this I see other replies, so this is redundant. !!
