IPhone 4 Mac Requirements
Accd'g to the iPhone 4 Tech Specs page, the Mac requirement is "Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later".
This OS seems very recent to me, especially since I have 10.4.11 installed on my intel-based macbook
Any idea what will happen if I attempt to run the iPhone 4 with 10.4.11? Why does the iPhone care about the OS anyway? I thought iTunes would be the only requirement. Is it for Video editing, or something external to the main use of the iPhone? If I have to upgrade to 10.5.8, am I looking at $170 for the Mac Box? Thanks!
You can try calling the Apple Store and asking if they still have copies available. They did for quite some time after Snow Leopard was released, but they may have finally run out. If they did, you'll have to search for a private seller, on eBay or some such site, or at a dealer that carries discontinued software. Make sure you purchase a retail copy of 10.5 (black-labeled disks). The set that shipped with a Mac (grey labels) will not work and is not licensed for such use.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:

When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:

You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:

You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM:

Everything I own (iPad, iPhone, mac) is set up on wi-fi. when i bring my work computer home (dell laptop), I cannot get it to keep the connection in a different room. All my other devices work.... does anybody know what i am doing wrong? please help!
Windows drivers for Intel wireless cards are known problematic.. If you have plenty of signal and it still cannot keep or hold the connection the issue can simply be the type of wireless.
Another problem is using names that windows does not easily handle.
eg If you set the TC using apple names, like
Fred Blog's Airport Time Capsule wireless24ad12
Then to windows this is too long.. it has spaces and it has illegal character.
Change all names on the TC to suit windows. Short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Also security must be suitable.. I have no idea how old or what OS your dell is, but if you still have issues.. pull off the security on the TC for a test.. if the computer suddenly works, it is not compatible with WPA2 AES. Make sure you also use a password that is mix upper and lower case plus numbers.. avoid special characters and make it 10-20 characters long say.. it is not required to be more than that unless you are paranoid. -

Yes the phone belongs to me. It was purchased from United Kingdom Vodafone to West Africa, i had to factory unlock to use any sim in it. so it belongs to me. I did the activation myself, now after updating my iphone to the latest update, it required a user id and password to activate the phone, but anytime i enter the details, it tells me the user Id is not correct but the password is correct..

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

My iphone / mac no longer recognize they are the same Itunes library. When I try to sync my phone now, it wants to erase everything and replace it with the computers itunes library. I have purchased items on the phone I don't want to erase them from the phone. The phone backs up fine, but won't sync.
File>Devices>Transfer Purchases from "iPhone" and then sync.

I have not ugraded, but I can on 1 of my apples, to Mountain Lion. Much of the software I use is not compatible, or the compatible version is unacceptable (Quicken, etc.).
iTunes is 10.6.3, and it says it is the CURRENT software for my system.
The new iPhone 5 requires iTunes 7.
I may be dense, but is there no way around this problem other than upgrading to Mountain Lion? Maybe it is a strategy to sell more computers? In any case I may simply bypass the new iPhone. That isn't what would be the ideal scene, but it's an option.
Any thoughts on Apple coming up with a solution and having the iPhone 5 at least partially compatible with iTunes 10.6.3? Like they did with iCloud?

I just set up the airport wireless modem - with a comcast internet router - all wireless device connect seemlessly (3 Iphones, Mac Air, and a Sony Laptop) but my IPAD 1 no longer connects. It tries to but never connects. I have reset it and have airprot utility app downloaded on my IPAD - it shows the modem and the internet no connected?
Do you mean an Airport Extreme Base Station connected to a Comcast Modem?

If you are trying to see if you can track your mac but nothing comes up, be sure the mac is connected to wifi, not just using ethernet cable to a modem.

i cant activate ios6 on my iphone4 because of my carrier, although i think it's the iphone that requires that you do a funny process to activate ur carrier,
i just upgraded from the ios5 to ios6 and to start the phone up i would have to activate my carrier,and a message pops up saying "select accept and wait for i5 seconds
then dial 112 and hang up within the first 2 seconds, turn on airplane mode till it shows you a no sim installed message the turn off airplane mode' then you're done" . now the challenge right now is that i cant get to the platform where i can turn off or turn on airplane modetapia1988 wrote:

Enter the correct Apple ID and password that was used to setup "Find My iPhone" on the device. Without those credentials the iPhone is a paperweight.

Thanks.That's interesting. My dual 1.25 G4 does just fine with iPhoto 08. In fact, I believe it is faster. I've noticed that when I edit basic things like crops and go to the next image, it doesn't wait to apply the changes to the last image. It appears they are doing more things in the background which make my dual processor better suited than the faster G5 in your iMac.
Now, if I could only get it to work with iMovie. I guess it is time for a new computer soon. I upgraded my video card when Aperture came out only to find that it would then refuse to install because I did not have a G5. -
