IPhone 4 / MacBook Air Syncing Problem

Hi, For the last week every time I sync my MacBook Air with my iPhone 4, I get the following message
"Syncing will change more than 25% of your calendars, events, or to dos on this computer."
It's suggesting I delete 1080 entries and modify 43.
I've never had any problem syncing before.
Any help much appreciated - I live 4 hours drive from a Genius Bar and feel ripped off having to pay for over the phone service.

This is the post I was talking about :
You may find that this is because you have not activated iCloud. Apple has decided for some reason to reward its lucky customers by preventing a sync between their iPhones and Mac computers by cable or local wi-fi. You MUST use iCloud. Lucky you. On the bright side, you have 5 free GB to play with, enough for a few files and doo-dads to be backed up. If you want to back up anything more, check prices and start getting used to paying monthly.
Thanks again for your help.

  • IPhone new MacBook Pro syncing problem

I asked this question in the iTunes section but got no response, so I thought I'd try here. Any suggestions?
I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro and finally got my itunes library transferred. I went to sync my iPhone, but it says that there are some songs that won't download because my computer wasn't authorized. So I did the authorization and it said it was already authorized. I finally noticed that the login email was an old, old email address. What do I do now? I didn't have this problem in my old MacBook Pro, and I don't have that old email's password. Any ideas?

    You're welcome.
You can change your account info including the email address per this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1918
But you must know the password for your iTunes account which can be different from the password used with the email account/address used as the user name for your iTunes account. You don't need to be using the email account/address to reset or change the password for your iTunes account to change other info, but you must know the answers to the security questions chosen when you first created your iTunes account with the chosen email address.
This is done with this link which you must do first. Just follow the prompts.

I'm an applications developer and also run a part-time videography business. As such, I require more than 3.12GB of RAM. That is the physical limitation of a 32bit system. Pointless to stay on 32bit if you plan on having more than that much RAM.
I'm also not about to pay someone to fix my PC when I can do it myself. I was originally hoping for someone who had experienced the problem before to point me in the right direction so I didn't have to spend so much time trying to figure out what the issue was for myself.
Basically, in the end the problem was caused because right at the point in time when I chose to uninstall, and reinstall; Apple released a new version of iTunes. This version in turn had a requirement of iOS 4.2 to sync with the iPhone. This is a pretty embarrassing for Apple that they would release software reliant on other software before said software was released.
Had I realised I was downloading a newer version at the initial point of installation, this wouldn't have been an issue. I could've easily have rolled back iTunes to the previous version and gotten on with my life.
Another issue is that iTunes is not actually a 64 bit application. It masquerades as one to allow installation on the 64 bit platform.

Doing a restore will more than likely resolve the problem. Plug the phone into iTunes, select your phone under DEVICES, and press Restore. This will restore your phone to factory settings. Now, after the restore is complete, you have two options:
    1) Restore from Backup
This will let you restore all of the content you had on your phone but may also restore the other person's notes and their ability to sync notes to your phone.
    2) Set Up as New iPhone
Your data will not be restored, but you can always sync content back later as long as it is in iTunes. On the positive side, this would positively remove any setting that would allow someone else's notes to appear on your phone.
You will be presented with these two options after the restore. I recommend restoring from a backup first so you won't lose your data, but if it doesn't solve the problem, proceed to restore as a new phone.

  • Airport Express 802.11n keeps disconnecting Airplay with iPhone and Macbook Air

I purchased this Airport Express on Jan 7, 2012. It was working fine.
I used it for airplay only to play my itunes music to my speakers. My speakers are connected to an amplifier that is inturn connected to the Airport Express via an optical cable. I have not use it with a printer. I do not use it as a wifi to access the internet.
It was working fine until about a month or so ago when after playing a few songs it would disconnect. Now after less than 2-3mins it would disconnect. When I try to manually reconnect with my iPhone or Macbook Air, it would say that is unable to connect to the Airport.
If I keep trying, eventually it will connect and then after 2-3 mins it would cut off again. The amber light would show contineously.
I am at wits end. I have not changed the arrangement at all since Jan. What could have happened?
About a month ago there were an update to Airport Utility. I ran that update. Could that be the problem?
I'd appreciate if someone could help me. The warranty will run out a less than a month. How timely isn't it.
Is the router broken. If so why does it still allow me to use Airplay but only for a few minutes (less than a song)?
Thanks in advance for any help and or advice.
    Mike

Unfortunately there could be any number of possible causes. Your router could be at fault, or the Express, or something else that is affecting both. To troubleshoot this issue you would have to eliminate or significantly reduce one or more of these possibilities.
Try performing a "hard reset" of the Express and configure it anew. Sometimes an internal parameter becomes corrupted that only a "hard reset" can fix.
The following is an excerpt from:
Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ
    Hard reset
Press and hold the reset button with a pen or pencil until you see the status light (LED) start to flash amber rapidly, which should occur after about five seconds.
Release the button, and the AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule will hard reset.
... but read the entire document to ensure you do it correctly. An Express that has been "hard reset" will create an open network with the name "Apple Network nnnnnn" where nnnnnn = the last few digits of its MAC address.
If you do not see the network with that name, the "hard reset" did not take effect, which will happen if you do not hold its little reset button long enough. In that case do it again.
Following the "hard reset", reconfigure your Express.
Failing that, position the Express closer to your wireless router. This may not be a practicable long term solution for you but it will minimize the possibility that wireless interference is causing the problem.
Consider substituting another router, to eliminate that as the cause.
Finally, you could take your Express to Apple who may simply offer you an exchanged unit. It will most likely operate perfectly well for them so you will not be able to demonstrate this failure mode, but you can explain you did all that I suggested above without success.

how can i transfer my calendar from iphone to macbook? Sync is not working!, how can i transfer my calendar from iphone to macbook? Sync is not working!

If the calendar is connected to a server account, like Exchange, you cannot sync via iTunes. You need to connect to the server on your MacBook.
If it is not connected to a server account then you need to ensure syncing is set up in iTunes. This is in the Info tab for your selected phone in iTunes.

Reset the SMC, then test your MacBook Air again.
Power or other problems related to unexpected system sleep, shutdown, lights or fans call for an SMC reset:
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if it's not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • HT204291 Airplay Icon lost from both my iPhone and Macbook Air

I've lost the Airplay Icon from both my iPhone and Macbook Air, so I assume there's something up with my AppleTV setup (connected via LAN ).
Airplay was working fine until recently.I've checked all settings and they seem ok. Anyone any further ideas?
All other functions work ok, streaming video off the net , playing iTunes (installed on Macbook Air) from AppleTV etc
I've just lost Airplay from 2 devices.
AppleTV was updated in the last few days, but the Icon was lost before that.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Doug

    OK. Solved !
A simple reboot of my modem/router (the fibre one from BT - BT Infinity) fixed this for
both my iPhone and Macbook Air.
I can also mirror my iPhone screen to the AppleTV now too.
(mirroring only worked from my Macbook Air before)
That must be a new feature. Excellent !
I guess I should have tried that before, but maybe this will help someone
    Happy Easter

  • My MacBook Air has problems connecting to a saved network when I first open it.

My MacBook Air has problems connecting to a saved network when I first open it. When it idles, the connection gets lost and even clicking on the network won't connect it. Then I have to turn off wireless and turn it back on for it to connect. My boyfriend's MacBook Pro does not have this same problem and this problem started maybe 2 months ago and nothing about our internet or router has changed, and its only my computer having the problem. Its a 2013 MacBook Air and my softward is: OS X 10.9.1 (13B42). Please help!

    Hello, nheredia05.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There are a couple steps that I could recommend trying.  Power cycle the router and test to see if the behavior persists.  Next, try an remove this prefered network from your list and then add it back again.  Make sure all firmware updates have been processed on the router side and the settings have been optimized for performance.  If the issue still persists try the steps in the second article.

  • Has your Macbook Air overheating problems been solved?

    Hi All,
Has there been a solution to the Macbook Air overheating problem for you?
I'm considering selling my MBA but want to see first if there has been any new updates on this issue.
I have a Macbook Air with the specifications as follows:
Model: MacBook Air 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Production year: 2008
    Production week: 15 (April)
    OS X Version 10.5.7
Have had the computer for about a year now and it has been constantly overheating and becoming more or less unusable when doing so. Have been hoping upgrades to the software would solve this eventually but that does not seem to have happened.
As I'm writing this room temperature is about 20 degrees celcius. Laptop sits on a table with power cable plugged in. Not running any external screen. There is no video streaming or music playing. Only the Firefox browser and a few more idle apps are active such as Mail and Skype (in the background). Even under these conditions the fan is currently running loud at 6100rpm and the Macbook Air is very hot underneath.
CPU temperature is currently 54 degrees Celsius. Both cores seem to be active.
Now, as an experiment I will head over to YouTube to watch a video and open up Microsoft Word in the background, a perfectly normal usage for a computer this new. This is what happens:
The computer starts to become painfully slow. After for example clicking an item in the browser there is a 1-3 second delay before the click actually becomes effective. It's now so hot underneath that I would not want to keep it in my lap. It is hard to use the mouse pointer properly as it does not update in realtime, I have to assume where it will land based on my movements. When scrolling, the spinning wheel icon becomes active. Everything is now happening in slow motion.
Video is lagging heavily. I can only see probably 1 out of every 10 frames or less of the video. All applications running are very slow. CPU temperature is now 64 degrees celsius. Fan is at 6200. Computer is now unusable for me. When I scroll a page in the browser it takes about 2-3 seconds before anything happens. Changing tabs takes 5-6 seconds after I click them. I will have to shut it down before re-starting and resuming work. When room temperature is even higher on a hot day needless to say everything gets a lot worse quicker.
Is this normal for Macbook Air's? If that is the case they are more or less unusable for most types of normal 2009 year usage (video, audio, browsing, office work etc).
What solutions have you found? Coolbook? Software/Firmware updates? Hardware changes? Please let me know if you have been able to make your MBA not overheat under normal usage.

    Hi Everybody,
Thanks for your replies to start with.
I have tried to install Coolbook now and has it running. When using 'throttling' and letting it change CPU speeds (I think..) the problem still remains. When watching a video or other demanding task the temperature goes way up. Running a CPUTest (small or big) gets CPU temperatures of up to 84-85 C. Fan of course at 6200rpm all the time.
Right now, I have Coolbook set to 800Mhz and 0.9V. Apps running are Firefox, Skype, Mail and iTunes with no audio playing. CPU temperature at 56 c and fan speed (as usual) at 6200rpm. I can use the computer now. It is still lagging and not very fast at all. Sometimes text appear 1-2 seconds after I have written it on the keyboard.
So Coolbook has made a difference for me, but only when putting the CPU speed down to 800MHz. I wouldn't call reducing the CPU speed to half a 'solution' though and will not keep that as a long term solution. Reducing voltages for higher CPU-speeds 0.9875V for 1600MHz does not work, it still heats up massively.
Have used the MBA for the whole day today and can't recall a single time the fan has not been around 6200rpm except right after boot.
Thanks for the tips on upgrading to 10.5.8. I will try that right away and let you know how it works out.
Have also considered buying some cooling device but just as you say that feels like a bit of a last thing to resort to.
I'm surprised Apple hasn't responded stronger to this. Had this happened in the car industry we would have seen thousands of cars being sent back to the garage to be fixed.
If this only has to do with some specific production weeks then the right thing to do would be for Apple to let those people have their computers either fixed or replaced.

A crude but effective way would ,assuming the Sony has an AUX in ,
    is a stereo bluetooth receiver
plugs into aux and recives music over B/T from
the iPhone etc ,as used by many in vehicle
