IPhone 4 mail bug

Hi
I have got an iPhone 4, but when I go into mail, and press open in in a PDF attatchment, but the two icons (ibooks and mover) have the wrong pictures. Mover has the iBooks logo and iBooks has none. I have tried reinstalling the apps, but I havnt tried restoring. This is probably a bug, but I was just wondering if it was a known issue or a problem with my device

  • IPhone e-Mail bug: Text cut off below a picture

    Hi Guys,
Just discovered a very annoying bug in iPhone's mail client: If you are creating a new e-mail and paste a picture into it, the text below the picture will be cut off completely. So if you have a mail: "text before [PICTURE] text after" then it will only send: "test before [PICTURE]" and the "text after" will be dissapeared to the thin air.
This is rather annoying and I would consider it as a serious bug.
    Tamas
PS: I use iPhone 5 and iOS 6.1 and use Exchange mail settings for accessing Gmail (to get push notifications from Gmail)

    Hi 1980LND,
Thanks for your help, I am not convienced if backup and restore would help. In the meanwhile I have found few discussions about this from 2010 -- Apple blames Microsoft Outlook protocol for this, but in my opinion this is wrong. If that is a known bug Apple should really warn their customers about losing data if they try to do that. Or just fix it even if Microsoft broke some RFCs. But yeah, with a message box with the warning "Due to a bug in Outlook protocol you are going to lose your text below the picture. Do you really want to continoue and lose the text below your picture? [I am Dumb Yes] [God No!]" would be sufficient, just do not let me hang and wonder where my text evaporated.
    Thanks again
    Tamas

  • IPhone Mail bug: Account Name with a comma

I seem to have found a bug in the SMTP implementation on the iPhone's Mail.app. When the iPhone sends an email the recipient will actually see two distinct senders, one sender is "Appleseed" and the other is "John" <[email protected]>. Both sending addresses will be wrong and un-reply-able. Somehow, during the SMTP conversation, the iPhone is mishandling the from address if the display name contains a comma.
Here at the university we have a naming convention for email addresses as:
    "Last, First" <[email protected]>
For example, assume your email account is set up like this:
    Name: Appleseed, John
    Address: [email protected]
When the iPhone sends email the recipient will actually see two distinct senders, one sender is "Appleseed" and the other is "John" <[email protected]>
The sender should of course be: "Appleseed, John" <[email protected]>
I've tested this out sending email from the iPhone through various email servers and I'm fairly certain the bug is on the iPhone, as it happens no matter which SMTP server I use. If the email account has a comma in the display name the message will have a corrupt "From:" address, and the recipient will be unable to reply (since the address gets munged in transport).
I've also tested this out with other email clients, and they all properly send email from accounts with "Appleseed, John" as the display name.

If you NOTICED the iPhone email setup only allows you to input characters that are allowed in any given field. For example it removes from your keyboard non-standard characters when inputing an email address.
Though a comma in the display name of either a "from" or "to" address is fine in the format of
    "Appleseed, John" <[email protected]>
If a comma in the display name causes Mail.app problems then that too should be fixed.
The display name field of an email address is allowed by RFC to have (if I remember correctly) quite a few of the non-alpha numeric ascii character.

  • Yosemite outgoing mail bugs

I've had a host of brand new outgoing mail bugs again. I've truned off the auto-detect options in mail pref MANY times and somehow they just keep coming back. Yahoo is especially affected. I'm stuck in the hospital trying to get paper-work to lawyers and accountants to try and wrap up affairs and this issues is making it difficult to even know what's going out and when. I paid for the dependability/ reliability of an Apple product, and feel cheated. It shouldn't take decades for Apple to be able to include a reliable mail client in it's OS. Seems like the new crop of outgoing errors started up again around new years and hasn't abated yet. Tried reinstalling the OS from recovery window hoping mail would come along for the ride -- and got a message that the servers weren't available -- to try again later. Well I've tried over the course of several days -- al with the same result. MBP is about to become "spare parts" and I'm looking at a chrome system for my home with a good NAS server for my needs. Brand loyalty can be lost over time.
Me- two MBP - 2011. Shopping now for new dev machine.
    Household - one 1Phone 6 for partner, 1 iPhone 3gs for me
Household - 3 2nd gen iPads- wifi only
    Household -1 airport extreme
Household - 2 time capsuls - one is new, the other a couple of years old
    Household - 1 Apple TV
Household - 3 airport express units to play music around the house
ME - developer with more than 5 apps in App Store.

Easy fix that worked for me instantly: Click Connection Doctor when the dialogue box opens. Double click the text in details. Click Advanced tab. Change username from "johndoe @ gmail.com" to simply "johndoe". And to be extra cautious, re-enter your password.
This can also be achieved by going to Mail-->Settings-->Accounts.
If that doesn't work, perhaps go back to Mountain Lion and wait this issue (and a few others) out for a couple months. Please let me know if this works for you.

  • IPhone 4 mail App not working properly

My IPhone 4 mail app just continues to spin and check email without getting email or sending.
Had the same problem in October after iOS 6 update took in phone and got a new one under 1 yr warranty.( apple and Verizon techs could not figure)
Again the problem is back.  The spiny thing just continues to spin and no email update.
If I reboot the phone the email is pulled down but stops again.
    iPhone : 4
    iOS : 6.01
    Carrier : Verizon wireless
Can not find anything on apple support or anywhere on google
I installed gmail app and all email pulls down perfectly but can not get me AOL email setup
So I know the network is working
Anyone know about this email App problem?
    Thx
    Bahram

I'm getting this too. It's very slow and apparently thinks "Call Sue Newport" sounds like "Call Halfords" or "Call Halyards" and, most surprisingly "Call First Great Western".
I was wearing my Jawbone Bluetooth headset so it's nothing to do with background noise.
I tried the new "What time is it?" command which works but takes about 10-15 seconds to activate.

  • IPhone deletes mail on Exchange server - how to uncouple?

Whenever I delete company mail on my iPhone the mail is deleted from the Exchange server.
Where can I toggle this? I want the mail to stay visible from my Mac but be cleared off my iPhone.
    Many thanks.
Edited to reflect it's an Exchange server, not IMAP.

You cannot. Exchange servers operate just like IMAP - the mail lives on the server, and a local copy is synced/cached. If you make a change (like deleting a message) on one device, that change is reflected on the server (assuming you're connected to the internet), and thus on all devices.
One option might be to create a different folder (in Mail on the Mac, for example, but on the Exchange account not local so the phone can access it) - call it Read Mail or something like that. Then, on the iPhone move emails from your Inbox to that folder instead of deleting them.

  • How to delete the Previous Recipients list in iPhone 3G Mail

I would like to delete the list of previous recipients in my iPhone 3G Mail so that when I search it only shows addresses in my Contacts, not every single random address I may have used.
I know how to do this in Mail on my desktop, and I tried the option of replacing the Mail info on the iPhone with the info from the desktop, but it didn't work.
Anyone knows how to do this?

    sanjinzvonic,
In my expeirence, the only way to do this is to restore your iPhone, setting it up as a new phone. You can try resetting all settings prior to this to see if that does it as well.
To reset all settings, navigate to Settings > General > Reset.

  • Hiya, I've got a weird problem with my iPhone4. On the 'home page' of my iPhone the mail symbol tells me there's a new mail waiting for me. However, there's no new mail to be found. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks

Hiya, I've got a weird problem with my iPhone4. On the 'home page' of my iPhone the mail symbol tells me there's a new mail waiting for me. However, there's no new mail to be found. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks

This response is a little late as I just read about your problem. I have a 2012 Dodge Charger and a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country and both worked flawlessly with the iPhone 5s my wife and I had. However, we just upgraded to the iPhone 6 and Uconnect will receive calls but you cannot answer them. You can callout successfully, however. the annoyance being the inability to answer incoming calls in the HandsFree mode.

  • In my 16 gb iPhone 5, Mail has used up 5,6 gbs of memory.  Trash is empty and there are a few mails in my accounts with no attachments.  What's wrong?

In my 16 gb iPhone 5, Mail has used up 5,6 gbs of memory (and is increasing).  Trash is empty and there are a few mails in my accounts with no attachments.  What's wrong?

These are Apple's tips on this:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • Yahoo Mail Bug

I recently read the Macworld article on fixing the Yahoo Mail Bug when sending email with Mac Mail. I have a question since I have the exact problem he writes about.
I changed the settings like Yahoo asked me to do.
I double checked them after reading the article. I was able to easily find how to "enable SSL for my POP server and override the default POP port with port 465"
But I am not sure how to:
"Enable SSL for your SMTP server and select to override the default SMTP port with port 465."
Where do I find the SSL for the SMTP? I have already looked into the Mail > Preferences. There I find the POP server settings, but no SMTP. ???
I get my mail from att / yahoo....just can't send via my Mail app.
    THANK you for any help.
    Margie

Thank you very much for your quick and kind response. I appreciate it and have fixed the problem. I didn't see the Advanced options prior to your email for the SMTP ~ and you've helped me considerably. Thanks

  • Mail (iPhone) Vs Mail (MAC)

Ma perchè impostare l'account excange su iPone è immediato, mentre invece su mail (MAC) richiede MOLTI più parametri (e non funziona)?

There is a signature function with the iPhone's Mail client, but one signature available only and the signature is in plain text along with all other text when composing a message since the iPhone's Mail client supports composing in plain text only.
The iPhone's Mail client does not include a junk mail filter. See my reply about the same in this thread.

if not, does any application can give that flexibility?
No application can change the iPhone's OS or applications included with the OS.
I would like a mail application on my iPhone where i have all the feature and flexibilty I have with Maill on Mac OS X. Any suggestion?
The iPhone has computer functions but is not a computer and does not include a full featured email client as is available on a computer.
