IPhone 4, memory storage ?
MyIPhone 4, 8GB has storage covering Audio, Photos, Apps, Data Storage - all of which I understand and can "control".
What, however, is "Other" 'cos it's 1.2GB !!

Thanks for the question. Check out the following steps if you see a large amount of “Other” disk usage:

Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
1. Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
2. Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
3. Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
4. Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
5. Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
1. Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
2. Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
3. Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
4. Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
6. Restore using iTunes.

Apple does "include memory storage" on their devices? If you mean why do they not include some form of user expandable storage, then the answer is because they do not. From what I understand, it sounds like you are running low on your iPhone hard drive storage and you purchased iCloud storage hoping that would alleviate the situation. iCloud storage will not increase your iPhone’s hard drive storage.
iCloud: iCloud storage plan overview
When you sign up for iCloud, you automatically get 5 GB of free storage. Your iCloud storage is used for iCloud Backup, app data and documents stored in iCloud, and iCloud Mail (your @icloud.com email account). If you need more storage space, you can upgrade to a larger storage plan. For more information, see the Apple Support article Storage upgrade pricing.
What I would recommend in this situation would be to check what is using your storage space on your iPhone and free up some spaced based on what you no longer need on your device. Please let me know if I can be further assistance.

I am trying to use my iphone as a storage device to move my music library to a new computer. My phone is showing up as a camera instead of as a storage device on my old computer so I can not move my music file to it. Any ideas as to how I prevent this as showing up as a camera/scanner when I connect to my computer?
It's supposed to show up as a camera because it is a camera. Additionally, you won't be able to sync your music from your iphone back to iTunes... media sync is one way... iTunes to the iPhone.
Google TouchCopy to copy the media from your iPhone to your computer. -
my iphone's memory is near capacity from photo albums sync'ed with my mac and I haven't found out how to delete select albums to free up memory without wiping the iphone. Any suggestions??
You do the opposite of how you got them on your phone, you unsync the pics using iTunes.

how do you remove back up data from the memory storage? my storage data states that i have over 80gb of data used for back ups and i dont know why as i use a external hard drive as a time machine .now my 250gb flash storage is nearly full.. HELP!
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.

As far as transfering in general, there appear to be several apps out there that will allow this via wi-fi incuding discover and briefcase. -

try this and see if it works: connect your iPhone and open up iTunes on your PC. Go to your phone's page. Under Summary page, check manually manage music and videos.

Move your iPhoto Library and/or your iTunes library to and external HD that is formatted OS X Extended (journaled) and run them from there. Be sure to try the libraries on the EHD before you delete them from the boot drive.
This should easily free up the 25 GB minimum needed for iDVD to create and burn video DVD efficiently.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums. -
When I open about this mac -> more info and I switch through the tabs (display,memory,storage,support,service) it lags (fps drops, animation looks choppy not smooth) even though all the mac (programs , interface ) works smooth . Why does this happen? (over 300 gb free,same programs installed,free desktop-downloads -no garbage there- everything neat and tidy.) Need some help. Only there it the animations goes like 2 fps and is not smooth. I do not understand why because the programs are the same so its the usage. Nothing is changed, yet i experience this little issue for a couple of days.

4) Any third-party disk backup software that came bundled with an external hard drive?
5) Any online backup scheme other than iCloud (Carbonite; GoogleDrive; MS One Drive)?
6) Did your financial institution ask you to install Trusteer EndPoint Protection (also known as Trusteer Rapport)? -

Video Playback Skipping After Updating Memory Storage
I am currently using a Macbook from 2006, originally running on OS X Tiger but upgraded to OS X Snow Leopard back in 2009. That switch worked fine, no problems. Recently, in an attempt to make my macbook faster, I upgraded the Memory storage. This is my systems original hardware specs:

I upgraded the Memory from 1 GB to 2 GB as was recommended by Crucial.com. Since the upgrade, any time I watch videos on my computer, the video freezes, skips and/or the audio cuts in and out. I've since switched my Memory back to 1GB and still encounter the same issues. Aside from stating the obvious -- yes I know it's an old computer and I'm due for a computer upgrade in general -- is there a way to improve this video playback issue? Or is the other hardware in my Macbook so dated that the Memory upgrade is too powerful for my computer to maintain? Any serious feedback is much appreciated.The memory upgrade isn't too powerful, and Snow Leopard should run ok in 2gb of ram. Video takes a lot of resources, try to not have anything else running when you watch video and see if that helps. Are you trying to watch online videos or are these videos stored on your hard drive or a DVD? You might try running Activity Monitor to see if something is running in the background using up valuable resources

MAkesure that both sticks of memory are being recognized and also make sure that your hard drive isn't getting too full. -
Most of my iPhone 4 memory is taken up with "other" there is no reason for this. I have tried to clear as much history as possible but cannot reduce the size of this.

my c drive shows about 60 gb of available memory, but i cannot download podcasts because of insufficient memory storage. i currently have 9 podcasts in memory and an extensive music library. is there a limit to number of podcasts to download or a limit to itunes memory apart from c drive?
No arbitrary limits. Is the media stored on the C drive or has it been located elsewhere? Can you post back the exact error message? Occasionally I've seen problems with software that contains lots of historic code and can be confused when the looking at the lower order bits of a large free space value and "thinking" there is free space problem when there isn't one. Perversely making a few temporary copies of some large files will allow the moment to pass...
