Iphone 4 microphones don't work

I bought an iphone 4 yesterday(secondhand) but when I came home i realised the microphones don't work.
I've tried cleaning the holes, recovering the software, tried calling.
The headset does work, the mics don't work in any app. I've tried a lot of them.
Weirdly enough, when I call and i press numbers on the keypad, the other person hears the sound.
We don't have apple stores here, only normal phone stores. I really don't know what to do.
The person that i bought it from says it worked..

OK, let's try a reset.
A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.

Bluetooth Iphone 4 don't work with other device?

Could be a problem with the contacts on your iPhone's connector.  Try cleaning the contacts using compressed dry compressed air, blowing on the contacts using your mouth being carefully not to spit, or using a very soft dry brush.

  • TS2634 My iphone headphones with microphone don't work.  Any suggestions?

My iphone headphones with microphone have stopped working, and they are under warranty.  I am having difficulty getting an answer about what to do from Apple - just got off the phone with them, and they emailed me an article that was of no help at all.  Any suggestions as to how I can resolve  this issue would be greatly appreciated.

All, I have this same problem and has just solved it on my iPhone.
I read up on the problem at att.com/esupport and arrived at the link below:
    https://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB413495#fbid=ahhj00ALH45
"If your email address is linked to your AT&T Access ID, changing your AT&T Access ID password automatically changes your email password to the same password.
If you use your email address as your AT&T Access ID, changing your email password automatically changes your AT&T Access ID password to the same password."
I have a ATT Uverse (for my internet access) acct and could not log on so I requested for password reset. They sent me temp password and I had to change my password to my Uverse acct. I use my att.net email as the log on for my Uverse acct. Per att instructions above, my Uverse acct is linked to my att.net email, so now my att.net email pw has been changed to the pw for my Uverse acct.
Accordingly, go into your iPhone Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, choose your Att.net mail acct and change your password.  In my case I changed it to the new pw I had set up for my Uverse acct and it works.
Before doing this, I had also added new servers as shown below. The way I see it because your iPhone will try in succession to log on to each server from top to bottom of the list, it's best to add all the mail servers.
    smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    smtp.mail.att.net
    outbound.att.net
Please note that I did not have to add "imap.mail.att.net" and my Att.net mail on my iPhone still works.
    Hope this helps.

  • Iphone 5 don´t work stabil in the bluetooth word

I can sometimes, and sometimes not connect to me Ipad 2 and PC. turn of and on, sometime i works some times i don´t work. I am waiting and Waiting because it is sometimes slow to be connect, other times it connect immediately.
When I finally get a connection it works very fine.
I am very disappointed by having buying one of the perhaps the most expensive phone om market and then have this vere unstable connection.even to appels own product.
Other phones do not have these problems, They find an connect immediately equipment like PC, Ipad and Headset.
I can not use it in my proffessionel work life, I am very disappointed, and I am now forced to change to an other mobilphoned.

You need a 3rd party iPhone file browser such as TouchCopy. See: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141. This covers more than photos, but it should still be useful.
Note, however, that if the photos were taken with a higher resolution camera than the iPhones the images that you copy back to your computer will be lower quality than the originals, as images in the Photo app are optimized for the iPhone's screen.

  • IPhone speakers don't work when getting calls

i have a very specific speaker problem:
My speaker don't work but only when receiving or making calls. It does work in all other apps. It also works fine when making a call and using either headphones or when using the speakerphone.
Tried turning on and off. Tried reseting. Tried cleaning the headphone jack. Tried holding on the lower right side of the phone (people actually say it worked for them).

    See Here...
    TROUBLESHOOTING iPhone Hardware
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Restart / Reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If that does not help... See Here:
    Backing up, Updating and Restoring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these Steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider is the Next Step... Be sure to make an appointment first...

  • My microphones don't work with my laptop

I've got a toshiba laptop running XP and my microphone and external microphone doesn't work.  The other person can't hear me.  I've tried all the different possible settings, but notice that the mute is checked whenever I check back to the settings.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Then you need to contact the vendor or manufacturer to find out if its compatible with Lion.

  • External microphones don't work with audio input

Tell me its not true that an ordinary mic won't work with the audio input....I have 2 mics which I know to work mini jack [tried both stereo and mono] and zip! nothing....what is wrong with this equation
any ideas from the floor? [do I really have to go and buy another usb headset or an iMic to resolve this??
please tell me there's another option!
    thanks
    Tony

I have been unable to get the microphone input with a Viewsonic 22" monitor with webcam to work with either iChat or iVisit with my Mac Pro. There have been other reports on the web about newer versions of the OS 10 inactivating the audio input for several programs. Is this why the microphone does not work or is it true that the audio input does not act as one? If the audio input does not work with an external microphone, what is it for?

  • So, these functions in most iPhone 4S don't work?

I'm pretty sure that a lot of people are having the same issues as I am. And I'm thinking it's because of a bug or something in the current iOS.
I've just bought a Factory Unlocked iPhone 4S from the States about a week ago and brought it back with me to my home country, Thailand. Everything works fine, since I can use the phone to make calls and whatever not. However, these functions in my new iPhone failed to work...
    1. I can RECEIVE MMS, but CANNOT send them. And
    2. I can use FaceTime and iMessage through my Apple ID, but I CANNOT get a verification for them through my phone number. Which up to this point, I still don't have a clue nor the solution to solve the problem.
So, with that being stated, I've found a lot of people encountering the same issues/problems as I am and was wondering what I should do....
Thanks for the reading the post. And feel free to make any comments!

Restart your phone by holding the power and home button until the Apple logo appears. Be aware that some owners of iPhone 4 have had difficulty using WIFI after the upgrade.

  • [SOLVED] HP420 and Built-in microphone don't work.

I have a trouble with my on-board microphone in my laptop (hp-420), it was working some months ago (with previous kernel) and I didn't use it for a while, after several upgrades now I tired to use it and it doesn't work. Second microphone, a jack, doesn't work either, and it's arch related, because I did some tests in windows (have dual boot) and both the built-in and jack work fine. So far I have tried testing alsa configurations, played with preferences and some other things I have read over the internet and in arch forums, but no luck at all. I may think it's kernel related but I'm not sure as I'm not an expert. Also sound works fine, it's only the built in microphone the one I can not get to work. I whish someone could help me or guide me.
So all the info I could gather about my machine and the sound

What is under the switches tab?
Oh -- By the way, that picture is over the size limit defined in the forum rules in tems of pixels, but the file size is okay.  I'll let it slide.  Watch the bumping as well.
If you want to post the switches tab, upload it to someplace like http://img3.imageshack.us/, copy the thumbnail (which has the link to the original)  back here, and you are golden.
I had a bear of a time getting the microphone working on my HP DV4, but it does work.  I'll look at the set up when I get home tonight [USA-PDT].
Sorry for the picture and the "bumping"... I have asked in irc in arch and alsa channels and no luck yet... one guy from alsa said I had to wait for the alsa-driver-1.0.24 package (currently I have alsa-driver-1.0.23) but it is weird because the microphone worked some months ago...
So here is what it is under the switches tab

  • What to do if iPhone apps don't work after syncing with iTunes

Just wanting to share this with anyone who may have the same problem.
This is what I did: All I did was authorised my computer to transfer apps into my iTunes.
This may also help (depending on the cause of the problem)
    http://www.iphonealley.com/tips/how-to-fix-broken-or-crashing-iphone-apps
(Thanks to Jim for sending this link but apparently my solution was a much simpler one)
    Hope this helps! Cheerios!

Try this - worked for me:
on the iPhone, go Settings-->General-->Restricitons and either turn all Restrictions off OR if they are on make sure 'Installing Apps' is ON.

How is it irrelevant? If you're able to use some, why not be able to use them all? (regardless of whether or not the developers have included it)
They are different devices. They do not share ALL of the same features. On the iphone, the developer would have to provide this functionality. You may not like it, but that is the way it is.
How come a jeep can go trail riding and a Chrysler 300 cannot?
How come my alarm clock can play a cd and my watch cannot?

Thanks for your reply, however, I do have the j2se version tag set and when I have a Java Console window running along with my download the first line in the console window indicates it is using JWS version as 1.6 but the second line in the window indicates it is using JRE version as 1.5...I would like for both of them to be the same. So, I am getting the correct java version but something is happening with the JWS using the version from 1.6. Here's a snippet from my jnlp file:
    <resources>
         <j2se version="1.5"/>

  • IPhone Speakers Don't Work

The internal speakers of my iPhone stopped working.  There is sound through the ear phone connecter and if it's in a cradle.  No trama to the device that might have caused it. Any suggestions on how I might get them to work again?
    Thanks

No.  And I've gone into Settings and checked everything I could think of.
