IPhone 4 Networking Issues - Possible Remedy -

After encountering WiFi issues with iPhone4 on a network with low connection
setting 58kps, it was suggested to me to 1. try only using channels 2 and 9 on router and 2) try turning 'cell data' off since the phone may try to use faster network, from what I could understand. I will try this, hope this may help someone else with similar issues. I was selecting E since I had 3G off and, I am told E is faster than 58KPS. I am still not sure why 58kps usd on that network.

Should read 'It[ the phone ] was selecting E since I had 3G turned off' sorry about typo.

  • IPhone cellular network issues after iOS 7.0.6 update

iPhone 5s recently updated to 7.0.6 having cellular network issues. Works on LTE, dead while on 3G. Wifi works. Anyone know why?

Indeed, but if you are in a weak coverage area or even somewhere like a basement, LTE occasionally cuts out leaving you with a 3G connection, which the device will display accordingly. During the times when my device is on 3G I do not receive voicemail, iMessages, or any network connection and get a message telling me my device is "not connected to the internet" even though the 3G indicator is present. Once LTE kicks back in or I find a wifi connection this is no longer a problem, but the phone automatically toggles back and fourth between LTE and 3G more often than desirable which became noticeable when stuff stopped working during the 3G periods.

  • IPhone 3gs networking issues... No 3g

Not getting 3G network. Currently I only receive "E" network. I have a new sim card, traded in a new phone and restored the software however I still get no 3G network. I sometimes get it for a rare moment and then it disappears. I did the At&t coverage and it said 3g was n my area however I still get anything. Is it possible I have two 3gs defected phones?
Or I can not get the 3g network on te

I would definitely be suspicious of AT&T before the two iPhones. Not that the iPhone is particularly great at 3G reception but more that AT&T can be particularly poor at providing 3G. Being in their claimed 3G coverage area does not mean much.
Have you tested inside and outside of your home? If you get coverage outside of your home, your structure may not be getting well-penetrated by AT&T's 1900MHz band. The installation of a repeater/amplifier may be needed to get good service until AT&T improves their network. If you do not get service even outside, there isn't much you can do. You may have to just deal with it and use WiFi (push notifications seem to work over EDGE ok) or switch to an EVDO provider/phone such as Sprint's Pre or Verizon's Storm. I've owned both and the Pre is the much nicer device (much closer to the iphone than anything else).

  • IPhone 5 Network Issues

I live in NJ. I've had every version of the iPhone. iPhone 5 is the worst. Or is it that AT&T is the worst?  I'm still trying to decipher if the problem is the phone or the AT&T network. At times I'll have no bars. My iPhone 5 will go from no bars to the Edge network or vice versa. And I'll have to shut the phone off & turn it back on just to get the bars & 4G back. I don't use the LTE because it drains the **** out of the battery. Another thing I've noticed is that I don't get all my text messages & voicemail notices, at times, hours late. This is very frustrating since I haven't had this problem with any other iPhone that I ever owned.  Please help! SIM card change before exchanging the iphone out? PLEASE HELP!

Yes, I'm having the same issue. I can comfirm it is indeed Apple's replacment phones in my case.
I recieved my iPhone 5 (Pre-Ordered from Sprint) on September 21st, already activated and ready for use. No network or issues with the phone. Three days later I decided to leave from black, to the white iPhone 5. I posted on craigslist to find if someone was willing to do the trade, and someone was. He worked for Sprint, and also had his iPhone 5 from Sprint. We swapped ESNs next to eachother and had our phones working in less than 30 minutes.
The phone was having serious over-heating problems and battery drainage that I wasnt used to from my first iPhone 5. I then took it to Apple to have it exchanged for a brand new replacment. What a Mistake. I was stuck two days without an activated phone. Got a brand new SIM and it activated. Now the issue I was having, was no 3G signal at all, just the roaming "Circle of Death". A Sprint rep then told me that it was a hardware issue, and I would need another phone. I went back to Apple, got another easy. Brand new, replacment. Didnt activate, so I asked for a Sprint Nano SIM. After inserting, the Sprint rep was able to activate it easily. Still the same problem.
Sprint & Apple are both to blame. Customer service has been horrible on Sprints side, but Apple should have been through every loop to make sure the iPhone 5s were PERFECT. Tired of first release issues. Especially for the money I have spent, and the time I spent on phone calls between both companies is horrible.

  • Iphone 5 network issue

Hi I am using I Phone 5 since past two years. The Network career is Airtel. Now a days I am facing problem like Incoming & outgoing call drop.Connectivity of calls. and Network fluctuations. Also cannot access the internet due to same reason.Whereas I am using one more phone (another Blackberry )with same career & that's working properly. Initially i thought it is problem due to Nano SIM provide by the career & replaced the SIM few days back, but problem is remain the same. Please help.

Anything to do with connectivity on your phone and fluctuations in signal is a carrier issue and primarily issue, so there is absolutely nothing that anyone here can do to help you.
You need to contact your carrier about this problem - only they can help you.

  • TO EVERYONE HAVING NETWORK ISSUES:  Possible Bug Identified.  Need Testers.

Please do the following and report back if it solves your issue.
    sudo ifconfig en1 mtu 1400
... or if you're on Ethernet (en0), go to System Preferences / Network / Ethernet / Advanced / Ethernet and set the configuration on Manual. Set the MTU to 1400.
This isn't the most optimal value, but it's low enough to account for the issues I've tested.
What seems to be happening is that the MSS value being sent by OS X is not accounting for the additional bytes required for the TCP optimizations that were added (timestamps in particular). So servers are probably trying to send larger packets than they should back to the client (You most likely).
    Message was edited by: mreckhof

It doesn't matter what you're using (Ethernet or Airport). They both default to an MTU of 1500 and therefore an MSS of 1460, which is too large for PPPoE users with timestamps enabled.
So reducing the MTU (temporarily - again, this is not a fix, it's a setting to prove that this is the issue) to 1400 now reduces the MSS to 1360 which is plenty small unless you've got a lot of tunnels in path which most people won't.
If we can confirm this is related to the problem that most people are having then we'll have a very solid case for what the bug is.

  • IPhone 4 network issue.

iPhone 4 is not connected to the network, detects the network, but the error message is "unable to join the network"
    Please advise.
    Thank you for your help

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
That should do it. If not, disconnect the power supply from your modem/router and wait 15-20 seconds before plugging it back in and retrying.

  • Iphone 4 network issues

My Iphone 4, keeps disconnecting while making calls. Some times the phone shutsdown abruptly while making calls and also while plugging it off the charge cable. I have tried restoring the phone from the latest itunes , but the problem stil persists. Does anyone have any solutions for me..

I use cellcom network but it does not connect to the 3g network and instead it connect to edge network ("e" symbol appears on iphone istead "3g").

  • Iphone 4 - contact issues; possible virus?

My iphone has been acting odd for a few months now - with a variety of issues around my contacts.
Background: I have an iMac, macbook, iphone, ipad that share address book through icloud.
I first noticed that I wouldn't have a current phone number for someone when I thought I had just updated them. But I wrote this off to maybe I thought I had put in into my address book or phone but didn't. But it keeps happening and I know I've updated people.
Then I noticed a friends' contact information was deleted. I entered all his information again and again noticed his card got deleted again. This happend 3 or 4 times before it's kept him in the mix.
The other day I updated a co-workers' mobile number because the one I dialed was incorrect and when he called me back the iphone said "Jeff or Gina calling" I looked at both contacts and she had the same mobile number as Jeff. (and she doesn't) So I erased her mobile number from her address card to fix the problem and now don't have her current information.
The other day I sent text to a freelancer with last name Young and a different freelancer answered me.... now his last name is Young as well but they have different first names and mobile numbers so I can't explain that one.
Also another freelancer had my company logo attached as her photo in my address book so when she sends me an email it includes my logo from her email.
My business runs on me working with hundreds of freelancers so my address book is critical to my career success.
I've never had an issue with my contacts in the past - these bugs started in the spring and initially I was told by genius bar that I need to switch to icloud and it would be fine. But the problem is getting worse.
Is this a virus? Is anyone else having similar problems? What's the answer?
    Please help. Thank you.

  • IPhone 4s 64GB Network Issues

I have a iPhone 4s 64GB that has intermident wifi network issues. I have completely restored the phone and am running in factory configuration with only one app installed (ping utility)and am still experiencing the following issue. When using the network (safari, facetime, etc) the network will become unresponsive. If i start a ping from the device the to the network gateway I get no response. If I ping the iPhone from the computer I get no response. If I toggle airplane move on then off everything starts working and the device will start to function normally and respond to pings. This happens continually throughout the day to any network I am connected to. I have received a replacement device and still have the same issue. I have talked to apple numerous times and they still say it is hardware. I have also deployed 100 iphone 4s to our company and hear of similar issues. Has anyone else had this issue or found a resolution? I am a very big advocate of apple products but after this exprience I will no longer be upgrading to the latest and greatest. I have reverted to using my iPhone 4 with ios5 with no issues.
I have attached the console logs from my iphone that  retrieved from the iPhone configuration utility from a time when the issue was occuring.

  • Network issue in iPhone 4 on iOS 6, iOS6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2, iOS 6.1, iOS 6.1.1 and iOS6.1.2

    Hello,
Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 last year. I am having network issues.
I have been monitoring my wife's android phone whenever I have a network issue on my phone (Both of us use the same provider and the same voice + data plan). The android phone has never had any network issues.
This rules out any issue with the provider and/or network issues.
Sometimes its the cellular data that does not connect or sometimes it doesnt connect to the network at all. I will have to do a cold start to get the phone up and use.
I expected this to be solved in all the subsequest fixes that were released. I am disappointed even with the iOS 6.1.2, the problem still persists.
By phone was superb when i was using it with iOS5. This iOS6 is a big disappointment.
The problem is even more when I am indoor. When everyone around have proper network on their phone, I read "NO SERVICE" on my phone.
My patience is running out now. I have been waiting for the past 5 months (a loyal apple fan) and I think I have to now take a decision. I cant make basic phone calls when I want and its really irritating when I see NO SERVICE when I want to make the call. Most of the time I end up switching the AIRPLANE MODE ON and then OFF to get the network again.
Sometimes the call drops and network goes off if I answer or make a call when my CELLULAR DATA is on (2G or 3G) or on Wifi.
Is there any solution to it?
    Ajay.

I had been holding off downloading iOS 6 ever since it was released and today was to be the day... no more.
    Thank you for the warning!

  • How can i fix my iphone 3gs when i have network issues after updating to IOS 6.1.3 and avoid the connect to ITunes screen?

Im an owner of an Iphone 3gs.
When I updated my software to IOS 6.1.3 I started having network issues such as my phone would go on searching, it would search for signal and then No service after few minutes it would restart and when its on again it would show me Connect To Itunes screen, I tried connecting but nothing happens and if I just leave it as it is it will just keep on restarting and showing the same screen sometimes I might get lucky and the phone will start working again but No Service and if I turn on my 3G for the times Im outdoors it will just restart again so 3G is also another problem I have got. Today I decided to take it to an Apple Store, the guy restored it and now what happens is that it switches on and is showing me the connect to Itunes message but with black backround and i cant do anything it keeps on restarting and showing the same thing. Please if there is anyone that would like to spend some time with me to help me out, he would be more than Welcome.
    Im located in South Africa
