Iphone 4 no keyboard when adding contact

Ok just recently got a iphone 4 and am trying to learn how to use it.
When I go to my contacts and am trying to add a new one I hit + and after thatI see the screen to add the contact.
The problem is when I hit the first name there is no keyboard that pops up.
The only way I have been able to get the keyboard to pop up s this.
I send a text and from there I can edit and add to contacts.
I just checked my wifes and hers works ok
Does anyone know what the problem can be

hey i got this problen recently and realisedby simply powering dwn n restarting solves d prob dont kno if u guys got tru already though but hav no idea what causes it though

Library error when adding contact or when logging in

The messenger server has a replica of the partition holding the users.
It's an OES 2 sp2 server, and the GW Messenger is 2.04.
Sometimes we see an error that says 'Library error' when adding a contact, or it doesn't show all users that exists with the search parameter given.
We also sporadically see a 'Library error' when some users log in to it.
Looking in the log I see an error that says 0xAE16 when users log in fails.
I can find the 0xAE11 error in the TID's but not the 0xAE16, I did find an article on the forums, mentioning this problem http://forums.novell.com/novell-prod...or-server.html, they mention memory problems, so it seems to me there is a bug that needs fixing.

I've disabled the '/diruseralias-"Internet EMail Address"' setting that was set up in the strtup.ma and strtup.aa scripts.
I've also, for now at least, chosen another replica.
I haven't seen the errors yet, so here's hoping...

ADDRESS BOOK CRASHES WHEN ADDING CONTACT

Hi guys,
I've been having this problem since Mac OS X v.10.5. I have since (for other purposes) wiped clean my Macbook various times, updated it to Snow Leopard, and wiped it again a couple of times. After each wipe or update, the Address Book application works fine, but after a couple of weeks it starts to crash.
This happens when I try to add a new contact. I click on the + button and am able to enter the card info, but when I click + again or close the application or anything else, Address Book crashes (with the usual afterward prompt of sending an error report, etc.). When I open it again, the added contact is not there.
PLEASE help me. I use Address Book quite a lot and it's truly bothersome to have it not working.

When you reinstall, do you also restore your contacts from a backup?
If so, you may have brought over whatever it is that is causing you problems.
First, open Address Book and create an Address Book archive (File menu, export…)
Second, go into your user/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete the
AddressBook-v22.abcddb file. It is an index to the metadata (vCards).
Third, go into your user/Library/Preferences and delete the com.apple.addressbook.plist file. That is the Address Book preferences. So, you will have to edit them back to your liking if everything starts working correctly.
Now, try Address Book and see if it works ok.
If you are syncing with MobileMe, you might consider resetting sync services if the problem returns.
Also, can you post a crash report? You can find them in Console, look in the CrashReporter section under ~/Library/Logs--just copy and paste it here.

Here are the exact steps I went through to reproduce the problem.
Go to settings and set up an exchange account to work with Google Sync. The instructions are here:

After syncing your contacts, go to the Phone app. Go to Favorites and hit the "+" button to add a favorite. Use the search bar to find a contact (important). Once you find the person you want, select them from the list, and when you do, the app crashes.

I have no idea how to share this bug with Apple.

ISo 5 crash when adding contacts.Anyone else?

I updated my iPhone 4 from 4.3.3 to iso 5. And then I tried to add a few new contacts from my iPhone.
Here goes the problem, I entered the number in the calling box, and I clicked on save button,asking me if I want to add to new contact. It crashed!!!!!!
Then I dialed the number, trying to save it in recent calling. It crashed as well when I clicked on the blue arrow.
Then I went into setting for contacts and mail, it crashed again!!!!
One more thing, when I used iCloud to sync contacts,it crashed too!!!

I've had a similar problem after updating my iPhone 4 to iOS5. Conatcts open but crash when I select any entry. The settings for contacts crash immediately upon opening. I've tried to restore iOS and data from the backup - without success. There is a message: 'Contacts can't be restored because they are "open" on the iPhone', which is not true. Interestingly, for me, the same contacts work fine on my iPad 1, even after updating to iOS5.
I don't get it.

Default phone type when adding contact

Hello,
Recently when I go to add a new contact, home is being selected as the default phone type. How do I revert this default selection beck to mobile? I know how to edit each contact, but I have 100+ to add and don't want to do that for each. Thank you.

Server error when adding contacts

I always get a server error message whe adding or editing Contacts on iCloud on my pc using Vista. Is there any obvious reason for this?

I suggest that you log a TAR and work with Oracle Support on resolving this problem.

Hangs when adding contacts

I'm trying to add a bunch of contacts to my ipad2 and it keeps hanging when I hit done. Any thoughts?

In addition, iMessage will need to be properly set up on their device and you must have the correct contact information corresponding to that set up.

Changed over to email, when adding contacts to email, says they are invalid when they are not.

Since changing over to the new improved email system, so I could be more organized, when I try and put my contacts in, it says they are invalid and doesn't recognize them. When in fact there are no spelling errors, the emails are typed in correctly, with correct characters. I am so frustrated. Any answers?

There are no known issues with the creating of contacts. We would like to see the methodology of input as well as the content you are putting in. I have sent you a private message so we can work further on this

Since the upgrade to IOS7, the default phone label when adding new contacts on my iPhone 5 is "Radio". Previously the default was "Mobile" how can this be changed back to "Mobile"?

Since the upgrade to IOS7, the default phone label when adding new contacts in my iPhone 5 is "Radio". Previously the default was "Mobile". It is a hassle as when my iPhone contacts are synched with Outlook via Exchange, the phone number I've entered on the iPhone doesn't show on the default Outlook view as it is a "Radio" number rather than a "Mobile", "Work", "Home", etc number. It is still stored both on the iPhone & in Outlook & I can still use the number to phone or SMS, it is just incorrectly labelled & hence the source of frustration.
Apple please return the default to "Mobile" or alternatively find a way we can alter the default ourselves to "Mobile" or "Home" etc.

When adding a contact.. another iphone on my plan got that same contact

I just recieved an iphone and my sister got one as well. We were adding contacts to our phones and noticed we were getting the same contacts we were adding. (EX: I added a friend and the same friend would pop up in her contacts and she didn't create his contact) Is there a way to fix this without going to the apple store/verizon?
If anyone doesn't understand i can go into more depth if needed.

Are both iPhones using the same iCloud account? iCloud syncs contacts (among other things) so if you're both using the same iCloud account on your phones it would automatically add any contact entered on one phone to the other one as well. Check under settings->iCloud and see what account name is listed at the top. If it's the same on both phones that would explain it.
