Iphone 4 not connecting with macbook air using USB

I am not able to connect my iPhone 4 with my Macbook Air using USB cord. Macbook Air is not able to detect the device.

I had this problem when connecting my iphone 4 to my retina MacBook Pro. The phone was running ios 6 but I updated it to ios 7 and since then it works fine with no problems. Try updating it to the latest software and see does that help!

Try the suggestions here >  iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X
    If nothing helped, repair permissions.
    Disconnect the iPhone.
On your Mac open Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
    Then select: Repair Disk Permissions
This process can take a few minutes.
When it's done, restart your Mac and connect the iPhone.
If that doesn't help, reset the PRAM >  About NVRAM and PRAM

If it is early 2011 or newer running OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion then  you can mirror.
A third party app called airparrot can help other models.

  • HT1338 Air Port Extreme not compatible with MacBook Air/iPhone?

I have an airport extreme that only works for older Macs.  It used to work with my iPhone, but has since stopped working for any iPhones and will not connect with my MacBook Air.  It does connect with an older model of the Mac Book.  What's up with this?

Ahh yes, that's not even a first generation.
It's possible it may have seen its day after all those years and heat.  However, you could try to factory reset it, just to make sure nothings messed up in the firmware, etc.
If that still doesn't work, maybe see if a diagnostic can be done at a genius bar.

  • Wife's new iPhone 5 will not sync with MacBook air.

My new iPhone 5 syncs perfectly well via my iTunes account with my MacBook Air.  Over time I think my wiofe and I may have shared access to my iTunes account but she definitely has her own as well and there are times I have needed to enter her password when purchasing something and vice versa.
So I tried to back up her old iphone to our (new) MacBook Air.  It wouldn't.  It seems to want to back up to our old PC.  I wanted to set her iPhone 5 up from an IiTunes backup but can't.
What should I do?  Set her phone up from new?
    Help!

The MacBook has my iTunes account and plenty of music, photos, apps etc on it.  I tried logging out of my itunes account and into hers but her phone would still not sync with the macbook.  How can I get her phone to recognise the macbook and vice versa?

  • Optus Huwaie USB not working with Macbook Air

I have a Macbook Air (mid 2011) running Yosemite 10.10.1
Using an Optus USB Modem (E3276 V2  4G) by Huwaie and it I think there is a compatibility issue. … I tried the modem on my Macbook .. no problem at all.
After launching on the Air, the USB dongle glows Blue which represent connection - status on Optus window says ‘connected' but there is in fact no internet connection at all and no kbps activity either way. I have seen a few similar posts on various forums but haven't so far understood what they are on about. Ideas? Thanks

You should be contacting the technical support of the Internet carrier for assistance.  It is their responsibility to be compatible with Apple.
    Ciao.

  • IPhone hotspot not working with MacBook air

Hi this is my first post I think and I'm hoping for a fix to my issues.
My iPhone 4S hotspot won't work when connected to my MacBook Air in either USB mode or wireless/Bluetooth.
A few weeks back I had the same issue, took both iPhone and MacBook to my local apple store and the tech deleted a folder from the mac and it fixed the issue.
I don't know which folder he deleted, he said they were network configuration files that would regenerate themselves.
Anyway it has been working fine for a few weeks but tonight it has ceased to connect again. I'm working overseas and don't have access to the apple store so I'm hoping someone here can advise me which files I need to delete Again to get this hotspot working.
Both iPhone and MacBook have the very latest software update both yesterday and it did work fine yesterday after the update.

You couldn't have, there are no supported  Bluetooth Profiles between a iMac and an iPhone outside of Internet sharing.
In which case you need to enable the internet Sharing over bluetooth on the Mac before trying to pair.
Other than that there's no way to pair them.

  • How to use iPhone 5 earbuds with MacBook Air 13"

As far as I know it is possible to use the latest iPhone 5 earbuds for not only audio output, but also as a microphone, if the usage concerns the actual phone. I want to use it for my MacBook Air 13" Mid 2012, but they do not seem to work. I have checked the System Preferences > Sound > Input and the Input level only rises, if I actually click on the center of the earbud controls. Afterwards, while holding or releasing, the Input level goes down again and there is no input at all.
I am not keen on other people listening to my conversations (apart from my voice, which is inevitable), hence I am trying to get this to work, but I haven't found any solution.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, that IPHONE5  earphone headset / mic works on the newest Macbook AIR    see spec pic below:

  • Why is First Generation iPad not connecting to MacBook Air?

We received our daughter's first generation iPad. Whenever I connect it to the new MacBook Air the iPad will keep beeping, and give a message that "this iPhone is not longer connected to itunes" The beeping continues.
It connects OK to my Macbook Pro, but I don't want to sync it with the MacBook Pro.
I re-installed iTunes on the MacBook Air and then plugged in the iPad and got the message that the USB port was being disconnected because there was too much power draw on that port. The only USB connection is the iPad.
Any ideas on what this could be? I'm using a newer cable, the iPad was 45% charged. Is there some limitation of the power draw on the MacBook Air? Is this older iPad drawing more power than the MacBook Air is capable of?

    - Macbook Air is plugged into external power
    - I cleaned the connections on the iPad and on the cable
    - Nothing changed, still get the USB power message and/or the message from iTunes that the device is no longer connected.

  • Handoff not working with Macbook air (mid 2012)

So, I just updated to Yosemite and I have enabled all the settings on my Macbook Air (mid 2012), iPhone and iPad.  Turned on blutooth, same wifi network, etc...  Handoff DOES work from my Mac to the iPhone but will not work from my iPhone to my mac.  I've searched high and low and can't figure out why its not working...  Any ideas?

*UPDATE* I was able to drop a file to my iPhone via AirDrop FROM my MBP to iPhone. However, I've still been unable to do the reverse (iPhone to MBP).
Same exact situation with same exact MBP (mid 2012 machine). iPhone 5S running iOS 8. I had been trying to go iPhone to MBP for about 30 minutes with no success. Neither Handoff or AirDrop would work. The MBP would recognize the iPhone in AirDrop, but the iPhone would never recognize the MBP as a location to "drop" to.
After reading you post, I tried the reverse (MBP to iPhone). I started an e-mail and got the mail icon on my iPhone lock screen. However, when trying to access the message on the iPhone i received connectivity errors and the "draft" never loaded.
Perhaps the server on the cloud they use for the handoff/airdrop/continuity feature is overloaded due to the rollout. Either way it's entirely more complex to use then it should be.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen will not connect to Macbook Air

Okay, so I've been trying to connect my iPod to my Macbook Air for a few days now to get some very important videos to transfer into iPhoto so I can get them sent to people that have been requesting them of me by their deadlines. I've also wanted to do some general charging of my device.
Here's the problem; when I connect the USB cord (Original one that I received with my iPod from Apple) to the only USB port the Macbook Air has, it refuses to connect, charge and/or synch with my computer. Up until about three days ago, it would connect and charge just fine with the computer, but now it is not.
When I plug the usb into my wall charger however, it recognizes and charges the device just fine.
I've had both my Air and iPod inspected recently at the Genius Bar, and there is NOTHING wrong with either device, so that is NOT the cause of the issue.
I want to know how to fix this, and whether or not buying a new cord would help, as I need the files on it to get to my computer ASAP. (Emailing the videos from the iPod is NOT an option as they're longer than one minute, and it will only let me email one minute clips.)

    I brought all three yeah.
And the guy that assisted me hooked it to their computers and it worked fine, and then he hooked it to mine and wiggled it around for a couple seconds and it worked for him but now I can't get it to do anything at all.
And as I said he checked the hardware and everything of both my Air and the iPod and said there was nothing wrong with it.
I'll try buying a new cord when I get paid and see if that fixes anything.

  • New Epson WF 7620 will not print with Macbook Air, receive "Print File Was Not Accepted" message.

Hello! To anyone who tries to help me, thank you in advance!
I brought home a new Epson WF 7620 yesterday and did all the necessary stuff, installing it with my Macbook Air (Mac OS X ; 10.7.4.). I installed the software from the site, added the printer to my printer list, enabled "print sharing" and connected it to my wifi network. I am trying to use it wirelessly.
I tried to print a test page of a regular PNG image, but I am receiving the "Print File Was Not Accepted" message in my printer queue. I have changed the file type a couple times to JPG and PDF but more of the same. I have also reset the printer, and have repaired the disk permissions in the Disk Utility to try and get it to work.
None of this seems to be working, suggestions very appreciated!
    Thanks
    MP

Try Linc's suggestion first.  That should cure your issue.  If not, here's something else to consider:

Apple keeps a set of current software for Epson printers.  You should start by going to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and delete the printer from the list (using the "-" key).  Then download Apple's software version from here:
Epson Printer Drivers v2.18 for OS X
Finally, set up the printer as shown here:
