IPhone 4 not recognised at all by my computer

Hi, please help, this is driving me mad.
When I plug my iphone into the laptop, nothing happens. Other USB components do work, I have Windows 7.
I have followed the various pieces of advice on here, have reinstalled itunes etc, all to no avail.
The Apple Mobile Device USB driver is missing in the list on the Device Manager and the iPhone is not recognised anywhere in the device list.

I presume you are using Windows

My Ipod Touch is not recognised in itunes or my computer but still charges when connected via USB Please help

Did plugging it into another USB port do any good? Make sure it is a USB port on the back of your PC and not via a USB hub or one on the front as they sometimes do not output enough power for the iPod to properly communicate with your PC.
Do you have another 30 pin dock connector cable around you use to try and rule out a faulty cable?
Did you try a hard reset of the device with it still connected to your PC?  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
With the article above were you able to verify that the Apple Mobile Device Service was installing and running on your system?
Lastly, try plugging it into a different PC to see if it is recognized there.  It can help narrow down whether it is an issue with the iPod or with your PC.

  • Ipod not recognised by iTunes or My Computer

Initially I successfully linked my ipod to iTunes and the iPod screen displays "Do not disconnect"
This time I have connected my iPod and it doees not display the "Do not Disconnect" symbol.
iTunes does not recognise the iPod. My Computer does not recognise the iPod.
I have reinstalled iTunes. I have reset my iPod.
The iPod also works on another computer without any problem.
I tried the Network drive solution listed on this site but Disk Management does not list the iPod either.
I do not know what to do now?

I seem to be having the same issue as Neurovir. My computer and iTunes recognize my year-old 1st-Gen 512MB Shuffle, installing a Disk Drives >> "Apple iPod USB Device" driver AND a USB Controllers >> "USB Mass Storage Device" driver when I plug it into the USB port. But when I plug in my 5th-Gen U2 iPod with Video, it comes up in the Windows Device Manager as /!\ Other Devices >> "iPod" and runs the Found New Hardware Wizard. The wizard cannot find drivers for the iPod, nor will it let me chose the drivers to use, even though I know exactly which ones I want it to use. iTunes also does not recognized that an iPod was connected to the machine.
I tried both my Shuffle and my iPod in another computer, and both were recognized by Windows and iTunes. I looked at the driver versions that that computer uses, and they are the same versions my computer uses when I plug in the Shuffle.
I originally was trying to find Apple drivers for Windows XP on this site, but I see that I don't need them -- because they are on my machine, I simply cannot get XP to recognize the iPod as a device that needs the "Apple iPod USB Device" and "USB Mass Storage Device" drivers.

Hello...I was just gifted a new Sony BDV-E390 Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System. Now I am searching for the best TV to use with it. I don't know the most about technology by any means. I do know that I am looking between the 46" and 55" range for size however. The Blu-ray player is 3D ready it says and I first and foremost do not want to have any feature not able to be used on my new TV. Do I need a 3D TV? I understand that the 1080p TV's are the best I think and the 120hz as well. I guess the "bigger is better" rule works here? Any suggestions for the best TV or at least features to a TV that would work best with my new Theatre System??
    Thanks in advance!
Best bang for buck TV right now is the Panasonic ST50 series plasma.

  • My iphone is not recognised by itunes or my computer

My iphone is not recognised by either i tunes or my computer. Everything was working fine but now when i plug my phone into the computer it does not charge up the battery nor does it appear in tunes or my computer.
I have gone through the apple checklist in trying to resolve the problem going into device manager as advised in the apple help guide.
I have reinstalled i tunes as advised, restarted the apple mobile device. When I come to 'verify that the apple mobile usb driver is installed' . There is no apple mobile device usb driver listed under 'universal serial bus controllers' so I followed instructions to install it as per apple website.
In the device manager box under 'other devices' it shows iphone and unknown device both have which have an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle over them.
I followed the instructions to update the apple mobile device driver under 'if only apple iphone appears' got to 'click ok in install from disk dialogue' which is point 8 in the instructions and then point 9 'click next to finish the driver installation steps'.
However this error message appeared - 'windows encountered an error installing the driver software for your device' stating it found the driver software but encountered an error trying to install it. One of the installers for this device cannot perform the installation at this time.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

Ok Ive gone to support.apple.com and the heading is 'iso:device not recognised in itunes for windows'
Following all steps listed then at step 5 'verify that the apple mobile device usb driver is installed....
In device manager I can see two issues a) under heading 'other device' it lists two....iphone and unknown device...both have ! in a yellow triangle.
Under the heading univeral serial bus controllers I cannot see Apple Mobile Device USB driver so I carry on to the section stating 'Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device driver.....
I click on start and in dialog type devmgmt.msc
I expand the sections imaging devices / other devices / universal serial bus controllers
The guide then says look for the entry that recognises the device as a camera howver all Ican see near this is under 'other devices' where it lists iphone (and unknown device) both with ! in yellow triangle
The next guide entry offers 'If only unknown device appears' or 'If only apple ihphone/pad/pod appears' however I can see both unknown device and iphone.
If I click on 'unknown device' > properties>details>Hardware IDs it shows nothing in the box however under the 'general' tab it states ''This device is not configured correctly (Code 1)'' and suggests clicking update driver. Doing this displays error message - ''Windows encountered a problem installing the driver for this device'' saying ''Windows found driver software for the device but encountered an error while attempting to install it - WPD FileSystem Driver - One of the installers cannot perform the installation at this time''
Doing as above but by clicking on 'iphone>update driver > browse my computer for driver software > let me pick from device drivers on my computer > Have disk > mobile devices  two items are shown a) Apple Mobile Device USB driver b)MTP ISB device....
Highlighting (a) and clicking 'have disk' and locating the usbaap164 file in c/common files/apple/mobile device support/drivers then double clicking this file and OK in the 'Install from Disk ' dialog and next again gives error repsonse as above in terms of encountering a problem installing driver but this time lists Apple Mobile Device USB driver.
Sorry for the long winded step by step hope this helps explain things a bit!

  • Iphone not recognised by computer

The iphone does not appear as a device on the computer, even though it has just recognised it, backed it up and updated it with the latest software. Since then it will not recognise it as a piece of hardware. I must admit I am not particularly iphone savvy but I have tried all of what Apple has suggested, alas without success.
    Any clues?

  • TS1538 iPhone not recognised by Desktop PC

After completing all of the instructions regarding my iPhone not being recognised by My Computer and, subsequently, iTunes it is still not working. A couple of extra things:
    1. The iPhone in question can plug into my laptop and is recognised
    2. Another iPhone4 is successfully recognised by the Desktop PC - just not this one
I have reinstalled iTunes, restored factory settings on the iPhone4 for in question (via iTunes on my laptop) and tried different data cables.

I have already done all of the above but still no success. It is so strange.
    As I mentioned above:
    * The phone (boyfriend's Dad's iPhone4) in question is recognised by my laptop (also running Windows7)
    * MY phone (another iPhone4) is recognised by the desktop
Both of the above are using the same sync cable (but yes, I have tried another with the same result as above).
    It makes no logical sense.
Thank you for your answer though.

  • IPhone not recognised by laptop (or connecting to itunes)

My iphone has recently been repaired with a new dock (since the other was corroded with water damage and would not allow the iphone to charge at all). I got it back today and after updating my itunes, the softwarde on the iphone (to iO6.1.2) and the software on my Mac, but it is not being recognised when it is plugged in.
I have tried connecting the iphone to two of my friends windows laptops, one of whoms says 'device not recognised'.
I am wondering if this may be due to the repair that took place, but i don't see how that could be logical since my iphone is now charging fine when i connect it to the laptop. Is there anyway that the person who repaired it may have failed to repair it in a way that would allow the iphone to connect to itunes?
Also, is there a chance it could be due to the new software update? My friend said he had trouble connecting his iphone after upgrading, but with a few restarts it worked (i've done this however and still no luck).
Note: I have resarted the iphone (holding down home button and sleep button), tried putting it into DFU mode (but cannot do that since itunes still wont recognise the device), restarted my laptop etc.
Any advice would be appreciated- Thanks

This likely due to the repair, or other water damage not repaired.  The fact that the phone charges ddoesn't mean that all the dock contacts are working properly.

  • IPhone not recognised in iTunes after upgrading to 10.0.1

Hi, I hope someone out there can help with a problem I have with my iPhone 3GS currently running 4.1.
I recently upgraded to iTunes 10.0.1 and iTunes has not worked correctly since.
When I connect my iPhone to PC with a USB I receive the usual pop-up asking what I would like to do with the device, but when I open iTunes, the phone is not located and listed in Devices (devices not even shown on the menu).
    I have tried all manner of different things to fix;
    Restarted PC
    Restarted iPhone
    Opened iTunes before connecting phone
    Connected phone before starting iTunes
    Connected using different USB cables
    Used different USB ports
Restarted Apple Mobile Device and iPod Service in Administrative Tools > Services
Uninstalled 10.0.1 and re-installed a previous version of iTunes
After all this, my iPhone is still not being recognised in iTunes.
Can anybody out there help please??
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi,
Hopefully someone on here might be able to help me also =)
I can't be 100% certain when but pretty sure it's since I updated to itunes 10 I haven't been able to sync or charge my iphone through my laptop, although it still charges through mains charger. My laptop makes a noise when I plug the iphone in but does not recognise it in windows or itunes. I have tried the above steps but cannot locate the phone anywhere in device manager or when in recovery mode. Have tried different cables and usb drives aswell as restarting etc.
    Any advice appreciated

  • IPhone 3g sync problem... ipod works fine, iPhone not recognised.

    Hello,
I guess this may be a hardware problem but I could really do with some advice. I have an IPhone 3g which i sync to my Imac (using itunes 9.1.1). Every now and again i have had problems with itunes not recognising my phone but normally after a reboot (phone/imac) it would work fine. On one occasion the reboot didn't work and I I had to reinstall itunes.
Now i have the same problem but none of my previous fixes work... I cannot sync my iPhone at all. It doesn't charge from the USB (although it does from the mains) and doesn't show up as a device in iPhoto. Its just not there! I have tried syncing my old iPod which works fine - which makes me think its the phone is causing the problem. Everything else on the phone itself works fine.
    Any ideas, hints or tips...

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I did this yesterday and had no joy... so i thought i would try it again before posting that I had done it and to my surprise this time it has worked.
Great that it is fixed but i guess going through this process shouldn't be a normal operation? Is there a fault with my iPhone or is it simply a bug in iTunes that needs a re-install to fix? I imagine it will happen again in a few weeks time so am hoping for a more permanent fix.
    Thanks again

  • How do I fix MMC could not creat snap in?/iPhone not recognised etc

My 3G Iphone is not recognised by iTunes. It does not appear on iTunes at all. Infact if I doc the iPhone Itunes wil not function at all. I get these messages:
    MMC could not creat the snap-in. It might not have been installed correctly. Name Event Viewer: CLSID:FX:{b05566ad-fe9c-4363-be05-7a4cbb7cb510}
    and
iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occured (0xE8000065).
    and
iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an invalid response was received from the device.
I hope they are all connected so that one resolution fixes it - I have tried lots of different things from the support pages - appreciate any help anyone can give.

    Hi,
This is normally caused by a corrupted system file, I suggest to use system file checker to repair the corrupt file:
1.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Type Command Prompt in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
2.At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    sfc /scannow
As for more details, you can refer to this article:

  • Iphone not recognised in iTunes on new MAC

I’m hoping someone can help? I have been using a PC to sync my iphone in itunes. I have a new Macbook and I want to start syncing my phone with that but the device is not being recognised. I have copied my library across for the PC to the MAC but when I plug my phone in to the MAC it automatically opens iphoto but does not respond to the phone. I have authorised my MAC in itunes and reinstalled itunes twice but still no joy. Has anyone had a successful outcome to a similar problem?

    try this first:
launch *Image Capture* while your iPhone is connected. Image Capture can be found in your computer's applications folder.
go to the Devices pulldown menu and select iPhone. now, go to the Image Capture pulldown menu and select preferences. In the general tab, change +when a camera is connected, open+ to +no application+. click OK, then quit Image Capture.
as for the iPhone not being recognized by iTunes, try the troubleshooting tips here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591?viewlocale=en_US.
