I thought I heard that the iPhone 4 was the only one able to downgrade back to iOS 6. Is that not true?

I'am noticing an annoying bug when listening to music (mp3 and apple lossless) while using other functions (for example using safari, rotating orientation, using the "multitasking" view). The sound stops for a moment as if the hardware could not support the whole process. I have found the most trouble rotating the screen while using Safari. It does not happen always, but if you try to rotate the iphone several times, sooner or later you'll hear this glitch.

I'm having also having game sound issues the game music and sounds just go completely quiet in iOS 8.1. Sometimes it'll just be completely quiet and others I'll have game music and sounds and partway through the game I'll lose audio. It's not the side lock/mute button either which I checked.
It's happening in two different games: Shadowgun:Deadzone and Modern Combat 5.
I have that side button above the volume set to toggle mute and I tried changing it to lock rotation instead to see if that made a difference which it did not. I have to kill the game and relaunch it to get the game audio working again.

Try a reset of your iPhone. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

With iOS 6, the all day events showed up in the notification centre but it lacks in the upgrade iOS 7.

Same problem here. Some people pointed out that all-day events do show up in their notification center, but that seems only to be the case for birthdays (and only as text like the weather). I've tried it myself on my iPhone and iPad and it did work for birthdays but not for any other all-day events. I already sent this to Apple as a product feedback as well, as should everyone of you. The more people mention it, the faster Apple's going to fix this issue. In its current state, notification center is not a very helpful feature in my opinion. There's absolutely no point in not showing all-day events in the 'today' calendar overview.

Small bugs in software on iPhone 3G running iOS 4.1

Hi, since I upgraded my iPhone 3G to iOS 4.1 a few days ago, I have noticed a couple of small problems/bugs, and was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences. One problem is, before iOS 4.1, when I was running the 3.1.2 software, my wifi signal "strength" indicator would usually show full bars for our home wifi network. Now, with the iOS 4.1 upgrade, the wifi signal strength generally (with the same network) shows as being one bar less than maximum.
The other problem is a bug with listening to song previews in the "iTunes" app. I'm pretty sure that before the 4.1 software, I could tap a song once and the preview would start playing pretty quickly. Now, however, this works about one out of five times, and the rest of the time the "spinning indicator" spins for ages, and the only way it will play a song preview is if I tap the name of the song again. This is just a minor annoyance, but ideally it would be good to have the feature working as well as it did in the 3.1.2 software.
Has anyone else experienced these problems with iOS 4.1 on an iPhone 3G? And could it be to do with the fact that I upgraded an existing install of iPhone OS (for instance, if I was installing Mac OS X and I was having problems, I'd do a clean install instead of an upgrade install)? Could it be worth trying to set up the phone as a new phone to try and avoid these problems? Many thanks,

One thing about this update, that is supposed (among other things) to resolve the iPhone 3G bugs:

Come on, Apple guys (and girls), go for it!!! Get iPhone 3g a real update! You know you can do it Please??

the iPhone 3G is my wife's. I now have an iPhone4. And with the 4.0.2 update, I saw some slowliness. Just a little bit, of course, not like the iPhone 3G! Well, cout that be a lead?

How do I open additional tabs in Firefox Home? I can see the tabs screen but it's blank and I can't find a way of opening a page in a new tab. Using an iphone 4 with ios 4.3.1.

I Updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 8.0 and lived

I read all the reviews that said don't update an iPhone 4S to iOS 8 and I get that there is a performance hit because the 4S is now 3 generations old. But I also checked out a number of YouTube videos of people running the iOS 8 Betas and finally the GM on 4S's and I couldn't see what the big deal was.
So I spent 45 Minutes updating my phone last night and I am quite happy with the results. Yes there is a tiny (and I mean barely noticeable) difference in speed of switching between things. It is not enough to really bother me so I am happy there.
I like being able to respond to a text message without having to stop what I am doing. This alone makes up for the difference in screen speed.
I have tried out as many of my apps as I have had time to since last night and so far only one seems to be broken by the update. It is Lagu, the music player that is a very close approximation of the iOS 6.X music player that I really loved. The app runs, it just won't actually play the song I select. I sent a notice to the developer and I hope that he is able to fix it.
I found this update to be easy and simple. I always do my iOS updates through iTunes on my PC because from what I have noticed over the last 5 years of owning an iPhone since Apple started offering OTA updates they tend to seem to be the ones that cause the most problems.
I will watch battery life today and see what happens, but so far it seems to be as good or better than I was getting with iOS 7.1.2. I was one of the lucky ones I guess and I didn't get the battery killing bug that so many people seemed to get hit with.
Wifi seems to be working just fine.
I listen to TuneIn radio on my way into work on the train (90 minute train ride with no wifi) and the show I want to listen to isn't available on a plain old pocket radio (Remember those?) so I have to listen on my phone. Between the streaming radio and my fiddling with my phone all the way in I burned through about 50% of the battery. So I will see what happens today when i am at work and not spending so much time digging through settings to see if anything has changed because of the update.
So far I haven't found anything that the update changed or reset to default so the programmers seem to have done a good job with this update.

I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.

IPhone 4s with ios 6 shows full wifi signal but can't access to the internet while other idevice can

I updated my iphone 4s to ios 6 a few months ago and there was no problem until I change my sim card to other carriers last two days. This second sim card is the same sim card that I used it earlier this year with no problem. But the problem I face is when my iphone goes to sleep mode I realised that I can't receive any push notification from imessage, Whatsapp, and Line. When the phone is awake the wifi signal is back and I have to go to each application in order to get the message. I have tried the following methods but it didn't work: reset all network settings, restore as new iphone, push home and power button together, switch off my iphone, turn on airplane mode, and even change my router. At the moment I have restored my iphone as new for the 5th times.
Now the problem is worsen, after the phone is sleep for about 5 minutes and when I awake my iphone it shows the wifi signal. But I can't access to the internet at all. It shows no working internet on Whatsapp. Safari can't load any web page, the weather app can't update temperature etc. I have to switch off and switch on wifi in setting menu so that I can use the internet. And when I leave my iphone four about 5 - 10 minuetes then the problem start again. While I can't access to the internet on my iphone 4s, I used my dad's iphone 4s with ios 5.0.1 and it works just fine with the internet. My laptop can also access to the internet with the same wifi network but not my iphone.
Does anybody know what's going on with my iphone 4s? Is it the bug from IOS 6 or my iphone is broken? Please help me.

Any update will cause problems for a few users. And those users will rush here and post "the sky is falling" stories about their experience. The 99.99% of people who have no problems after an update won't bother to post here; indeed, most of them don't even know ASC exists. FWIW, I had no problems with iOS 7 on my 4S. Your problem is most likely not related to iOS 6, but you should probably update anyway. IPhone and iPad iOS 5.1: Gmail IMAP attachments not downloading

I'm having an issue with Gmail (IMAP) not downloading attachments from myself! (I use Gmail to archive documents, etc). Same issue on my iPhone 4 and iPad 3, both iOS 5.1, using the default mail app with default "Gmail" account (IMAP) set up.
They *were* both working fine, then I erased both devices for a clean install. Set up the email accounts again, now none of my own attachments download on either device.
When I say not downloading, I see the attachment download box (dashed box with download arrow inside), and on pressing it, the attachment downloads (0 to XX kb), but then the download box just flashes back to showing the file size, and the attachments do not show. I keep pressing the download box but it flashes and nothing happens. Same with .jpg .png .doc .xls .pdf, etc.
BEFORE THE FORMAT:
All attachments downloaded correctly (as far as I can remember) before I had erased both devices.
NOW:
Attachments sent *from* me ([email protected]), via Gmail website, to me or anyone else, BEFORE formatting my iPad 3 and iPhone 4, do NOT download. However, if I then forward the email, including attachments, the attachments appear in the outgoing message preview! (so they're not corrupt)
Attachments sent *from* me ([email protected]), via Gmail website, to me or anyone else, AFTER formatting my iPad 3 and iPhone 4, DO download and correctly appear in the email.
Attachments sent *from* me ([email protected]), via iPhone/iPad, to me or anyone else, any time BEFORE or AFTER formatting my iPad 3 and iPhone 4, appear correctly.
Attachments sent from anyone else, *to* me ([email protected]), always appear correctly.
On a friend's iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2.1), adding my gmail account using the default "Gmail" setting (IMAP) works fine - all attachments download and show!
On a friend's iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1), adding my gmail account using the default "Gmail" setting (IMAP) replicates my problem - all attachments from me (sent before the format) do not download. (So it's not specific to my own devices!)
Gmail Exchange server (m.google.com) works fine: all attachements download and show correctly. Also no problem using Thunderbird IMAP or the Gmail web interface.
So it looks like it might be a problem with iOS 5.1, however it all seemed to be working fine before I did the erase/format... and new emails sent from me always appear correctly... actually that might explain why it was working before (as I was always downloading new emails, and not looking at archives).
So the only other thing that might have changed is some IMAP server setting? Could the headers or mail flags have changed somehow for older emails??
Any thoughts? :-/

I reproduced this problem over the weekend, on friends' iPhones (all running iOS 5.1). Opening their Gmail sent folder and trying to view an attachment sent from a while back (basically one that hasn't already been cached by the Mail app) failed to display. Exactly the same problem - download arrow flashes and attachement won't show / can't be opened.
I'm in the UK, but not sure if that affects anything.
Thinking this might be a bug in the Mail app in iOS 5.1, as earlier versions work fine.

I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 immediately the battery went bananas. I was excited about Siri and a better camera so I purchased the iPhone 4S, but I have to say I am dissapointed, I am seriously considering going back to iOS 4. When can we expect a bug fix for iOS 5??????
Is anyone else having problems with Siri unable to connect to the network, Siri can connect to the network maybe 2 times at most per day, most of the time she is unable to connect what is the deal?
And last but not least, my iPhone 4S overheats to the point where I am scared, it gets burning hot and its not in use. I find myself using my phone less and less... I am beginning to question what kind of quality control was done on the 4S before it was rolled out. not happy at all

Thanks I have searched the battery threads and have done all of those things so far. I just tried the home button and sleep/wake button reset. I will see if that helps. I am also going to do a complete down to 0 battery drain and recharge tonight and tomorrow if not I will go to the Apple Store.

IOS 5 Contacts Call Bug

I am using my iPhone 4 with IOS 5 in Mozambique. All my contacts are stored using each of my friend's/client's country code (I have got people from the US, Brazil, Italy...). Anyone who calls me and is in Mozambqiue (therefore using country code +258) and that I have his number within my contact list, his name does not appear on the screen when he is calling me.
If that same person sends me a SMS, his name appears on the message screen. No problem. The bug exists when he tries to call me.
If a person within my contacts list calls me or sends me sms from abroad (a country other than Mozambique) than his name will appear both on the call information and on the sms screen. So, it seems ok when people are calling from abroad.
I did not have this bug with IOS 4 and I was using it on the same network and on the same iPhone as I am using now the IOS 5.
Is Apple working on fixing this error? I do not have this issue with my Blackberry.
Other than this error to be very annoying, I cannot understand how Apple did not detect it immediately when performing tests on IOS 5...

IPhone 5, iOS7 anyone else have these bugs?

I know other people are having issues with iMessage, my phone is turning iMessage off with out my consent. The weird thing is though; I’m not receiving text messages from half my contacts that use iMessage to send me text. They think I’ve been ignoring them for days, I have miss 6 days’ worth of communication from people. Shouldn’t I receive the text but as a SMS message from them? From their side the iMessage goes through.
When “scrolling back” to a position in my text, to edit a word, the magnifying glass appears and then should help place the cursor to the position I need. Well it’s moving the cursor through the text, but after a second or 2 the magnifying glass freezes, and the text messaging app doesn’t respond for 5 - 10 seconds.
Funny bug, but not a REAL problem, play a video or go to a picture in your album, try to zoom out, keep your fingers on the screen and rotate the image or video, it does some weird things, I’m assuming they wanted to allow you to zoom out to close the image but it doesn’t work so well in practice.

I was having the same issue with iPhone 5 and iOS 7.0.4 (using the magnifying glass freezes the phone for a few seconds, buy only inside the iMessage app), and I just found the solution!
There is no need to reset the phone or install updates (in fact, the issue is not related to a specific iOS version).
First of all, you can replicate the issue knowing that:
1. When composing a text in iMessage, if you use the magnifying glass, you will see these options: Select, Select All, Paste
2. As you may know, you can copy a picture or a video in the "Photos" gallery and paste directly in iMessage to send it as SMS.
3. When you copy something, iOS keeps it in memory, even if you did it days ago
So, what happened is simple (in my case, but I think yours too). Two weeks ago, I copied one of my videos in the Photo gallery (for mistake) and I totally forgot about it. Then, every time I used the magnifying glass in iMessage, the "Paste" option was getting ready to past the video in it (freezing the screen for a few seconds, probably because it was a huge file).
MY SOLUTION: write something in iMessage, like "hello", use the magnifying glass, press "Select All" and then "Copy". Done! You just replaced any huge file/image/video that you had in memory with the text "hello", and now your magnifying glass will work like a charm!

No, I'm not geekish enough to even know what a JBed 4 is, nor whether it is firmware or (as I suspect) software. My iPhone is bog standard, and I finally threw caution to the winds and fixed the problem by restoring the device... it took 3 hours, but at least it restored while I slept.
And if you look around, it isn't that rare a bug (people often confuse assertions with knowledge on the internet!). Anecdotally, I know a lot of people who have experienced all sorts of different problems upgrading to iOS 6.1, and the web has quite a few examples out there. Maybe a frustrated response is indeed pathetic (after all, I can't control any new software releases, can I?), but I resent software developers deciding like little demigods what people need... mostly the reason for an upgrade is to sell something to you, and when they don't work, it ticks me off. And in the meantime all the app developers have to become "compliant", so I have a lot more meaningless "upgrades" to look forward to... there are some strange power dynamics here!
I did, when I finally fixed the problem, get a bonus though: with the new OS, you can delete individual tracks from the music app... many people had been complaining about that a lot, and the weird thing is that Apple didn't even advertise it as one of the new features (just that you could "record individual tracks", which I never had any problems with). That particular functionality disappeared with the arrival of iOS6, and is a real nuisance when you have a lot of music on the Cloud.

IOS 4.x operational bug when listening to music?

I've been looking around the forums to see if I could find an exact match for this problem, but have only come up with near misses so far.
Ever since upgrading my 3rd gen iPod Touch to iOS 4, I began noticing the screen turning itself on at seemingly random times. After some trial and error, I believe I've hit upon instructions that can reproduce the problem on demand.
Open up a playlist. It doesn't matter if it's a smart playlist, manually created, on-the-go, etc.
Start playing a song.
Click the lock button to turn off the screen.
Double click the Home button in order to turn on the screen and bring up the track controls.
Skip to the next track.
Click on the Lock button to turn the screen off.
Let the current track finish playing, and allow the next track to start.
Approximately 10 seconds into that next track, the Lock screen will turn on by itself.
I've been able to reproduce this on my Touch with iOS 4.0 and 4.1. I've also reproduced it on an iPhone 4, running iOS 4.1.
Can anyone else confirm this behavior?

My 5800 does not ever vibrate, any condition, any usage...with or without head phone...not even when an incoming call or msg is there and vibration alert is on..it does not ever vibrate. I'll have it checked with Nokia care. Looks like either the vibration motor is not there or not working...or possibly a software bug.
This issue has persisted since the day I bought it - till today when I have updated to firmware version V21.0.025 (Custom version 21.0.025.C01.01)...so,no resolution with latest update either.
