IPhone 4 only showing emails in contacts

My husband has done "something" to his iPhone 4 to do with emails. He now has no phone contacts but instead just email contacts associated with his hotmail address that is on his phone. Any ideas how to get them back?

How, exactly, was it "unlocked from AT&T"?
And what did T-Mobile say about the problem when you contacted them?

IPhone + Exchange only shows email addy as the sender, not my name

When sending an email from my iPhone, my email address shows (e.g. [email protected]) as the sender instead of my name (e.g. John Doe). This might be an issue with Apple's Exchange setup in iPhone OS 3.x but wondering if this might be an issue with Kerio.
With IMAP only accounts such as MobileMe and Gmail on the iPhone, there is a field to enter the sender's name (e.g. John Doe) in the setup. There is no such field when setting up an Exchange account on the iPhone with 3.x software. So, when I check my sent email, I do not see my name in the 'From' field; only my email address (e.g. [email protected]).

This might work. I had the same problem in Mail on my iMac.
FIrst, login to www.icloud.com. If your name is right on iCloud, open Mail in the iCloud window and click on the gear icon (prefeences) You can fix your name there. On the iMac, I had to wait a few minutes, quit and restart Mail, and check preferences. Then on starting a new message, there was a pulldown under "From", that I used to select the one with my correct name and correct email address. I just deleted that blank email, and others since then default to the correct name.
Don't know if this will work for mail sent from the iPhone, but once the Cloud Mail is corrected, hopefully it will do the trick.

TS3398 I have lost my contacts that were entered into my iphone in addition to those that are synced from my exchange account. Iphone is only showing email addresses, no contacts with phone numbers.

Two days ago my phone locked up and when I could access again, my contact list was only a few names and email addresses. ALL phone numbers wiped from the phone. I have been using google sync for three years to sync contact and calendar to gmail and then sync gmail to iphone, and it has been seemless. I would think this was the problem, however the contacts and phone numbers that were added directly the phone are no longer on the phone either....which point to a phone problem.
I went home, to update but ended up having to "restore" from backup, which I did. The contacts were visible for less than 24 hours, but then disappeared again the next day. I have tried forums for google sync as that would solve a large amount of the contacts, but I still can't seem to find a solution for the other contacts added directly to the phone.
are there any new glitches/issues with the iOS 6 that cause this problem?

Do the numbers still exist in your google contacts?
Google recently terminated support for new configurations of gmail using Exchange Active Sync for unpaid accounts. In theory, existing configurations will continue to work, but there have been some problem reports.
I've seen several mentions of the problem you describe in the last few days and so far, they've gone unresolved as far as I can tell. The root cause may be in google's termination of AES support.
Facebook contact sync may also be a suspect.

iCloud is not a backup system and trying to use it as such will not work (as you see) do you have copies of your contacts anywhere else?

Did you replace your iPhone with some other kind of phone? If your phone number is no longer connected to an active iPhone, you can't use it to message from your Mac.

IPhone 5 only shows 100 photos in Photo Stream...

I just got my iPhone 5 upgrading from iPhone 4, which didn't have Photo Stream activated. My iPad mini is showing 684 photos in my Photo Stream, but my iPhone 5 only shows 100. Any ideas?

Photostream in the cloud only keeps photos from the last 30 days (subject to a 1,000 photo limit). When photostream syncs the photos to your device they will stay there until deleted, which means you may well have more photos in your photostream album on your device than there are in photostream in the cloud.
The consequence of this is that if you turn photostream off and on again on your device, it will only be populated with photos from the last 30 days, which may not be all the photos that were previously in the photostream album on that device.

If you are syncing music to the iPhone automatically, you won't be able to play tracks on the iPhone from iTunes, the music will be grayed out.
You can play them in iTunes if you Manually Manage the music on your iPhone though.
You could also Transfer the purchases from your iPhone to a computer.

My Iphone 4 only shows 4 custom ringtones

I have a new iphone 4 and my friend told me how to send my ringtones to email, place them on my desktop, and then drag them into my itunes account to ringtones. I downloaded about 20 ringtones and drug them into my itunes and then sync my phone. When I check the ringtones in my phone it only shows that I have only 4 custom ringtones and not the 20. My friend showed me his phone and he has 9 custom ringtones in his phone. How do I get all my ringtones under my custom ringtones. Please help, very fustrating.

Check in iTunes under the ringtones tab (with the phone connected) that the custom tones are ticked then sync your phone. This has happened to me in the past.

Exchange - Directory only shows email address field

My calendar and mail work great. The account contacts sync just fine (phone numbers, address, email, etc.) but when I look at the Directory for all employees it only shows the email field for each contact
any ideas?

Iphone Calendar only shows one when I have synced three...

I have synced two gmail and one yahoo email to my iphone and have allowed them to sync with the provided iphone calendar app. However, the calendar app only shows my icloud calendar. I have tried changing the settings for sync thru gogole and yahoo and bit are available and set to sync. I have also tried deleting them and re-adding multiple times.
Please Help!!!

How do I make the iPhone use only the Address Book contacts?

I just spent some time cleaning up my Address Book on my Mac. I want to sync it back to the iPhone so that the phone shows the exact same contacts. How do I know what will override which contacts are used? I don't want the iPhone to merge anything, I want a clean start with the Address Book I just cleaned up.
Going forward of course I will want to keep contacts I've added on the phone, but for now the Address Book is most current.

Click on the iPhone on the left side of iTunes, under Devices> Click Info above the picture of the iPhone> scroll to the bottom and check Contacts under Advanced Replace Information on this iPhone.
This will erase the contacts on the iPhone and replace them with contacts in Address Book.

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?
