IPhone 4 overheat warning and PS
Hi there,
I was originally waiting for the white one but seems like it's not going to be released by the end of this mo. So, I'm looking into the black one. But I do have a couple questions.
1. Is the Proximity Sensor problem affect majority of the ip4? Or just the minority?
2. How about the overheat warning?
I am wondering if the later batch has fix some of these problems already. And I would like to have some feedback from the users.

Proximity Sensor issue is real. I would think it will be resolved soon in an update. I can not say that for sure of course. Don't know anything about the overheating.

My iPhone overheats. Battery drops from 100/90% to 10% sudenly. Got the device 20 days ago. I'm currently living in The Hague, there is no Apple Store in this city, took an appointment in Amsterdam, after 3 hours drive and 60€ travel cost got into the Apple Store, 73 minutes delay on my appointment the Genius tech tells me I should leave my device for further checks in the store and come back in a week or two. Not presicely the answer I was looking for, plus he did not have any device to lend me until my iPhone was checked. Quite dissapointed, Apple was standard for quality on customer satisfaction, in the last 10 years I bought 3 MacBooks, 5 iPdas, 7 iPods, 5 iPhones and 2 iMACs... please don't let me down. since i have had my iphone 4s replace in april my iphone overheats and shuts down when charging?
can anyone help?My 4S has recently shut down twice so far due to heat: Once in 100+ deg. in Arizona, when I left the phone in direct sunlight too long (that'll kill anything), and once just today, 96 deg. in Colorado, with the phone in my shirt chest pocket, not in direct sunlight. Each time, the phone was also encased in the hermetically sealed "Lifeproof" case, which probably contributed to heat build-up. If you're using a similar case with yours, either make sure to keep the phone in a cooler, shaded area, or just take it out of the case when the temps are this high. Definitely don't leave it in direct sunlight! In my case, although the 4S seems more heat-sensitive than my previous iPhones, I still find this behavior within acceptable parameters. But I wonder whether the overheating episodes might cause permanent damage...?

because when i use the gps app in my iphone 4s in the car my iphone gets overheat so
if i dont use the display when using the GPS and only listen to the voice instructions can that also makes the iphone overheat even if you dont use the display
will that help?When you use your GPS does your iPhone get hot enough to shutdown? The reason I ask is that I have run my GPS app with the screen brightness set to near max connected to power for hours. My iPhone got hot, but didn't shutdown.

I would make an appointment with the Genious Bar at your local Apple store. Sounds like it could be a hardware problem if you have kept your iPhone wasn't in a hot environment when you got the overheat warning.

No, no one can do that. You need to try restoring it:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

My iPhone 4G died and will not turn on with hard reset.
My iPhone 4G died and will not turn back on. I got an e-mail and then took a phone call. After ending the call I went to text, but nothing. Screen was black with no warning. I plugged it up on a charger and nothing. I tried a soft rest and a hard reset and still nothing. I have it plugged up to my computer and without it coming on it will not recognize it on iTunes to do a restore. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Is this fixable or should I write it off and replace the phone? It is 1yr and 1 month old.

My iphone wont charge and my PC can't see it. can anybody help. At first a yellow warning triangle appeared saying this device is not compatible with charging. but that does not show now.
Most likely a hardware problem, which it may be possible to fix. Get a magnifier and look in the dock connector on the bottom of the phone. If there is dirt or moisture in it clean it with a dry toothbrush. If a pin is bent try to straighten it. Also try a different cable. If all of these fail the phone is broken.

So my iPhone screen cracked and i ordered a new screen to replace it. Finally when i finished i went to turn it on and the screen just stayed blank. I plugged it in and the apple symbol came up but then went off, and kept doing this. so i let it set for about an hour and tried again. it gave the charging symbol and just stayed on this for about half an hour. i unplugged it and when i did it just went off. after a while it did come back on but it began to overheat and the battery lasts about 45 minutes. i took the back off and its the logic board that is hot and not the battery. can this be fixed? i dont know if its under warranty but if it is will they replace it after the fact that i took it apart?

Between 'translate' and 'love' on the tool bar is the little window saying "(1)iPhone is Waiting" and then "Your (PC) is On Fire". This isn't funny or cute or necessary. Why are they allowed to do this? I am using the Babylon translation browser. Will you please remove it? tytyty. livlove
Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
Try to toggle some Boolean gfx.font_rendering prefs on the about:config page to disable some features.

* set gfx.direct2d.disabled to true to disable Direct2D
* set gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.use_gdi_table_loading to false.

Apple should respond to iphone overheat wifi problem!
Now my iphone is having a problem to find any wifi,
searching all around the forum i found out that that is cause by the iphone overheat problem,
after try i noticed it is true that when in a cool environment( they even put iphone in the fridge) my iphone can sometimes find the wifi and can be connected, but it won't last long. After a while the temperature increase, the wifi problem come back again.
Not only me but many people experiencing the same wifi problem like me~ Apple should show some respond to this serious problem~!I found that I seem to lose my AT&T connection when the iPhone overheats somewhat. Yesterday I couldn't even find any service, but turned off and everything worked well today. I think if I periodically turn the phone off and start over again, the overheating probably diminishes.

I seem to have at least two, and maybe four, iCloud accounts, across my iPhone, my iPad and my MacBook Pro. Can I combine them into one iCloud account? I have been able to log into what appears to be three of the four iCloud accounts I have. Two of them seem to be remarkably similar, and one appears to be only for my MacBook.I think I know which one my iPhone is backing up to, as I successfully restored from a back-up last week. The fourth iCloud account I can't access via password or security questions. Any advice would be much appreciated.
