IPhone 4 Owners, Do You Love it?
So those of you who have gotten your new iPhone's over the last few days, do you love them? Are they everything you expected? Alot of problems? What's you opinions and thoughts on the new iPhone 4?
I am no fanboi for Apple. But I will say that I do in fact love my new iPhone 4. There are still some shortcomings in the iOS. (HELLO Can we please get the ability to set and choose our own message alert tones?) But this version of the iOS and the iPhone do seem to be working much better for me.
I have had none of the issues others have reported, but then maybe I am weird. I use a BT headset and in no instances have I had to grip the device while using it where I would be bridging the different antennae sections on the along the sides of the phone.
I certainly hope they can resolve the issues others are reporting with a software update. To be sure there will be software updates to this OS, just as there always are to any OS. Lords know I hope they do NOTHING to the CoreLocation stuff. Never have I see faster or more accurate lock on and location services then I have with iOS 4 and the new iPhone 4. CoreLocation in iOS 3.x blew major chunks. But, iOS 4 fixed all that.
The display.. Ahh.. The display.. That has to be one of the number one things about the new iPhone 4.
The camera is better (not the best by a long shot) and the forward facing camera is cool too. I have not had the opportunity to use FaceTime yet, however, I suspect I will like it.
All in all, it is the best mobile device I have had the pleasure of owning to date. I do not regret my purchase at all.

I have a new powerbook and want to give my girlfriend my old G4 power book, she has a new iphone 5s, and wants to create a new itunes/apple id. When i try to de authorize the G4 and sign in with her new apple ID it says bad password, how can i release the G4 from my cluster of authorized apples and make her the owner so she can download music and more importantly sync her music with her phone, she only has 3 songs on her iphone, and loaded all her CD's into the g4 but cant sync, im no dummy and this shouldnt be hard, but its driving me crazy!!!!!!

Downloaded iBooks on my Macbook Pro but when I tried to sync it on my iPhone, this appeared: "Are you sure you want to sync books? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone “My iPhone” will be removed". Love the iBooks as well as music. I really don't want to loose my music. HELP!!!
From the message you are receiving, it sounds like you either, 1) haven't synced your iPhone with that computer before, 2) are using two different iTunes accounts, or 3) both. If you have purchased music or movies through your iPhone with a certain iTunes account and purchased books through iBooks on your MacBook through a different iTunes account then there is no having both on the phone.
Apple doesn't allow content from two different accounts on a device at the same time. Also if two "libraries" have been created, one on the iPhone and one on the Macbook then syncing will erase data that is not associated with that particular library.
If you are using the same iTunes account for both, then you should be able to redownload any purchased items (music, books, etc.) from iCloud, assuming you have set that up.

Then there's nothing you can do. Only the previous owner can help you. They must either provide the ID and password, or erase the phone and remove it from their account as explained in the article you were reading. There's no way around this.

Everything you love, everywhere you go.... How in the freek do I get there???
as a recent (6+ years ago) convert from pc to mac, the most recent upgrade to ios8 has left serious question about the direction of apple.
"everything you love, everywhere you go". Sounds great, but, how in the freek do I get there. After upgrading my imac to ios8 then being informed that i cant upgrade my iphone because it hasn't yet been synced with icloud and it has all of a sudden become difficult to compose this comment because my imac touch pad no longer responds as delicately as it did before the latest ios upgrade, heck, even spel chek doesnt siem ta werk aniemor. regretfully its all becoming more pc-ish.
if you bother to advise me that it is better to do an action another way, please help me through the 'better' way.

Unless your carrier doesn't have the required SIM card size, you can get a new SIM card from your carrier. There is usually no charge for this.
If you don't have an Apple iCloud account or if you do being accessed on the iPhone with contacts turned off for over the air syncing, you should be able to transfer contacts from the Address Book app on your Mac via the iTunes sync process. This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync.
If you have an iCloud account, you can sync contacts over the air with the Address Book on your Mac. After confirming your contacts are available with your iCloud online address book - checked by logging in with your iCloud account using a browser on your Mac, you can then turn Contacts on for over the air syncing with your iCloud account settings on your iPhone and your contacts will then be available there and kept synced automatically over the air between your iPhone address book, your iCloud online address book, and the Address Book on your Mac without having to sync with iTunes for this. -

You need the previous owners password to unlock the phone. If you can't get that, then your phone is useless.

Do you love iphoto, have orginization tricks?
The only thing I miss about my PC and hate about the Mac is iphoto. I find orginization of my events cumbersome. I really dislike making albums and only do that if I am going to make a photo book, need a place for "pictures to print" or am going to use the album for monething, like transfer that group of pictures to my iphone.
I miss having a folder that I can put sub folders in such as a folder called, for example "My baby" with 12 subfolders for month 1 -12.
So, do any of you LOVE iphoto and why? (Did you ever use a PC?)
I am also having issues organizing events, which is what I have decided works the best for the way I choose to organize. I just don't want events and albums for everything.
I need my events organized alphabetically. Yes, I go under view and ask my events to be sorted accendingly by title, but does that work? Not always. Anyone have any suggestions.
Lastly, for any of you that dislike iphoto, what else do you use for your photo's? I can't imagine professional photographers who use a Mac love iphoto.

SI'm with Larry on the whole "if you don't like it don't use it" thing. It's not compulsory and - like any app - it's not for everyone. But if you "dislike making albums" then you're not really using iPhoto and so it will always seem limited. That's a bit like only using a web browser and complaing that your computer is limited...
And this is not an iPhoto versus PC thing. It's the difference between using a databse for data - that is, and app specifically attuned to the requirements and possibilites of photographs and one that doesn't know the difference between a photo, a song or a letter to your mom, and treats them all the same.
Files-in-folders is a very limited way of organising anything. What do you do with files that belong in two or three places? Take a snap of your dog and your cat. Does it go in the dog folder? The Cat one? Organising on time seems basic enough, but once you've been doing it for 10 years you find yourself trying to remember what year that X was - 2005? 06? 04? and then there's a lot of rooting around in folders looking at icons. Add in the number of photos involved - it doesn't take very long to get past 50k - and the search gets more difficult all the time.
Then of course there are all the other things - non-destructive processing, OS integration and so on - that you miss by using a file manager to organise your photos.
Here's a canned answer I offer to demonstrate some of the possibilities of iPhoto.
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
I keyword on a
Who
What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
File -> New Smart Album
set it to 'All"
title contains Seattle
keyword is mountain
keyword is snow
rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
New Smart Album
Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. I don't believe that any of that would be possible with a file manager.
Finally, you have really only got two choices here: using the file manager or using a database. All of the database apps - iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa - all work in broadly the same way - yes, with different bells and whistles - but essentially the same. -
I am a new iPhone 4s owner. I have a tone in iTunes that I downloaded from the web as a m4r file. Why won't it sync to my iPhone so I can set it as a ringtone?
LoisYes, the tone is available and checked in iTunes under the Tones library.
Yes, it is also listed under the Tones tab for my iPhone, but it is grayed out.
Yes, tones are selected under "sources" in General Preferences, along with everything else.
SyncTones was NOT selected under the Tones tab for my iPhone. I did so and it synced.

if I got an unlocked iPhone 4s would I be able to use a 3G network? Like so when there is no wifi network can I use a 3G network to go on the internet when i am out if I got an unlocked iPhone? Or do you have to have a locked iPhone to do this?
If I am reading your question correctly, yes if there is no wifi
you can use 3G IF you have a contract with a wireless provider
and the appropriate SIM card if required. Being unlocked does not
give you access to 3G for free; you still have to pay for it. Same
for locked iPhone. Difference is that you would have to get contract
with whatever provider the iPhone is locked to if you have locked
iPhone; if iPhone is unlocked, you will have to make a choice from
your local providers.

Well, you downloaded a bootleg copy of iOS 7 beta and have installed it on your phone without being a developer. It has bricked your phone and you cannot get help here because doing what you did has voided your warranty. Have a nice day.
