  • IPhone 5 Power button no longer working.

    Hi,
My iPhone 5 power button no longer works, I was wondering what my options for this would be?
I bought it last december with AT&T, can I return it at the AT&T store or would I have to go the Apple store?
    Thank you.

You would have to go to the Apple store.  AT&T can't help you.

  • Iphone 5 lock screen and power button no longer works?

With my iPhone 5 that I have had for around 10 months the lock/power button hardly ever works. I have to press the button many times and for multiple seconds for my phone to power on or off.  What can I do? Will Apple replace it, and will they give me another 16 like I have now? I really want to know before my warranty runs out because I truly do love my phone and want it to work properly.

If it is determined that your problem is due to user abuse or damage, your warranty will be void; but you will be eligible for an out of warranty replacement for $269.

  • IPhone 5 power button doesn't work

My power button doesn't work and I still have the warranty and I wanted to know that if apple replaces my iPhone will I have to renew my contract with Verizon

Replacing the phone in no way affects your Verizon contract.

  • IPhone 4 - power button doesn't work anymore! HELP

I have a problem with my iPhone 4.. the power button doesn't work anymore... if I press it, it doesn't response (i can't hear the click, when i push it).. how much does it cost for repair it? my warranty is expired...

So it doesn't do anything at all? The sound clicks are one thing, but if the screen locks, then it works.
It will be $149 if I am correct from other posters.

  • IPad Power Button No Longer Working

Hi all- I got my iPad (32Gb) on launch day and it has been a wonderful piece of tech to use- until today, when the iPad's power button simply stopped working. The iPad is still in mint condition, kept in a case, and handled like a gem- but pressing the black power button in the top right corner does not turn on/off the screen... it's as if the power button doesn't connect to circuitry at all. All the other buttons (home button, vol. rocker, screen lock) still work just fine.
Since the power button worked before, I wondered if it was a software problem and did a full system backup and restore- but, alas, even after the restore the power button simply doesn't do anything.
Has anyone else seen experienced this problem? I checked other online forums and it seems at least a handful of other users have also experienced this too- what to do? The nearest Apple store is a couple hours away, which is why I ordered the iPad to be shipped to me on launch day.
I appreciate any advice you may offer- thanks!

My power button has not worked since day one out-of-the-box on my brand new 64GB WiFi iPad. Had this new toy for about 10 days now and nobody can understand how a power button can miss quality assurance from the assembly factory. Have tried restoring, letting the battery run out, and all other sorts of combinations of button pressing and it simply does not work. I live in Europe and this was a gift bought in the US, so "taking to a mac store" is not an option. All of the resellers over here are giving me different stories about the best way to resolve. Any ideas? Just trying to avoid letting this thing out of my death grip cause other than the power button issue, it works fine - until i need to power down or reset
Please, someone admit they had a similar issue?

  • Power button no longer works??

I have a macbook pro retina dis late 2013, when i first got the laptop the power button worked great, press it and it would give me the option to, restart/sleep/shutdown. Now since my 1yo boy started pressing buttons and caught me off guard it no longer works if you tap power button like before.
it does however still go to sleep if its depressed for longer period, but now to shut down my laptop i now have to press ctrl Power to shutdown?
I know its only one extra button to press but it was far convenient just quickly pressing the power button once and hitting return when it automatically highlights shutdown first.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks Nik

There are many companies that repair iPhones. Google for one in your area. Here are a few...

Sorry, you won't be able to reset or take a screen shot without the sleep/wake button functioning. Can you use a small flat blade to activate the button inside the now open slot?

The power button on my iPhone 4 no longer works.  There is no longer any movement when I try to depress the button. Is this repairable or am I looking at getting a new phone.

  • My iPhone 3G phone button no longer works. If I push it I get a black screen for a few seconds then back to the home screen. Everything else is ok. Any ideas how to fix this?

The phone button on my iPhone 3G no longer works. Everything else on the iPhone works fine. I can receive incoming calls. I can make calls directly from Contacts. But if I press the phone button I get a blank white screen for a few seconds then it goes back to the home screen. I've tried the hard reset and also restoring orignall settings via iTunes but keep getting the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thank you, Neil.

Thanks for the advice but I've tried resetting network settings and also the reset by pressing home and sleep buttons until getting the Apple logo. Still have the same problem. To be clear (because I mistakenly typed black instead of blank in the title to this thread): If I press the phone button I get a BLANK WHITE screen for a few seconds then it goes back to the home screen. I doubt it's the SIM card as I can receive calls and make them directly from contacts. What I can't do is view my favourite numbers or missed calls or access my voicemail, i.e. all the things you get to via pressing the phone button.

  • IPhone 5 power button not always working

    Hey all,
I got this iPhone 5 (white) 64GB a year from last Christmas. Where I work there is lots of flour, so even with the case on the phone, and even trying to keep the phone away from dust, I think it got to the power button. It still works fully, but I have to press it 3-4 times or even more sometimes to turn the screen off on the phone. To wake it up, same thing. I used the Home button to wake it up in that case. Is there anything I can do to fix this without bringing it in, or taking it apart?. I was thinking my vacuum designed for gadgets and computers, just turn it off and vacuum around the top of the phone a bit, and around the case itself. Let me know what you guys think, thanks.
P,S, the phone is not scratched at all, has never been dropped so this is the only issue I've had with it after a year of ownership.

It seems that this problem is very common, I've asked around. At least three people I know have had the same problem with their iPhone's (iPhone 4, iPhone 5 so far). How come no one replied to this question I posted?, is it a question that everyone hates to answer?.
The only answer I've gotten from research is by using AssistiveTouch to lock my phone, and turning off my iPhone by holding down on the "Lock Screen" button while using the AssistiveTouch feature. (But I'm still mad that this happened).
I found out that this is not a problem with dust. The button's just do this to us. Other owners I know that had this problem were not working around dust.
The only question that still remains, is if this problem is covered under warranty?. But really, from the past I've seen a cracked screen as not covered under warranty, and the same goes for water damage. A bad power button?, that has happened frequently to probably thousands of iPhone owners?. It probably isn't covered. Please correct me if I am wrong in all that I have said here.

  • Iphone 5 lock button no longer works

The power button/ lock screen button on the top of my phone stopped working.  Is there a way for me to power on and off my phone? Also will Apple replace or fix this on my phone?

Take the iPhone to an Apple store genius bar...some of the US (at least) stores are now able to do in-store repairs so you get to keep your iPhone.

  • DVI to ADC adaptor: Display power button no longer works w/G5?

I'm looking for answers on a topic originally brought up in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=221092&tstart=45
concerning the Studio Display's power button when attached to an ADC/DVI adapter for use on a G5.
I am having the same problem. I had previously used the monitor directly attached to an MDD G4, and the power button worked fine. Now that it's attached to the adapter, I can't power up the G5. The brightness button will open the Monitors prefpane, so I would say that it's not a problem with the overall USB system.
Otherwise things work fine, so it's not the end of the world, but I'd like some confirmation or denial of the problem just to know if there's a defect or not.
    TIA
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

It is working normally. ADC has extra pins to support the power button and light. DVI connectors don't have these pins, so there is no way for the DVI to ADC adapter to make the power button work.
