IPhone 4 repeated force-close of apps
A few days ago when my girlfriend was using her iPhone 4, suddenly any app she opened would force close. Sometimes her music app would open on its own. No matter what she tried to do (reboot, backup and restore) the apps would continuely crash roughly 10-30 seconds after opening them. We went to the Apple store to have the Genius bar take a look at it. First they advised to restore and set up as a new device...we tried that, to no avail. Upon returning to the store a second time, they replaced her phone with a new device. When she got home and restored her backup the problems began occuring again.
Currently we are at the idea that her backup is corrupted and she should just start from scratch. The problem with that is I would still like to find out if it is an app that is causing the corrupted backup and if backups can be recovered. The most important thing is I want to find out if there is something that can be done that she doesn't loose anything/everything.
Backups can be recovered by date, but it can be a bit picky (error filled) if you do one from too far back (probably around early 2012 due to the iOS 5.1 to 5.1.1 update).
The best thing to do is just restore your new phone fresh, erasing all settings. Backup the phone before you do this. Then add your content piece by piece.

Force close Mystery App every Power On
HI all,
I have 822_SG build as i bought in Singapore. Since I did the 1st and only system update to 822, I have a recurring "force close" issue. It is driving me crazy, because I can't figure out what app is causing the issue. This is the error message:
"The application FaceService (process com.arcsoft.faceservice) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" It happens once, I click "force close" at bottom of same error bar. It goes away, then comes back one more time. Same force close. Then it's gone till I power on again.
Firstly, is it an "app" issue, or something else?
Secondly, what to do?
I had to delete and re-install many apps after the 822 build so I'm kind of tired of guessing.

Go to Solution.Jward, how did you solve your problem? Did you uninstall FaceService? If so, how? Or did you uninstall ArcSync and that removed FaceService?

So with new update for iphone how do i close out apps
how do i close out my apps now. remember you would tap home button twice and then hold finger over apps that you wanted to close. Tryed it with new download and now can't close them. Help

Thx in advanceAh, you mean the Home button. If you're having a hardware issue, you should take the phone to Apple and have them look at it.

ThanksDepending on how the app is programmed, generally to force close an app, double tap the home button. You'll see the app icons and previews on the screen. Scroll sideways if needed to bring up the app in question. Flick the preview for that app up and off the screen. then single tap the home button or the home page preview to exit the mode
The app should then reboot from closed instead of just reopening -

Well, I have an iPhone 4. This is the worst phone I have ever had. It never acts right. My apps always force close when I'm doing important things. I sent Apple my phone a couple months ao and it came back with the same issue. This phone urks my nerves, I seriously dont want it anymore. I have done many hard resets and all. Nothing helps. My Wifi Never works, I have wifi everywhere. But I recieved a text from AT&T saying I used 90% of my 3G. I never went over my limit any times before.
Restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.

Email app won't open. I get blank screen and it immediately force closes. I've rebooted the iPad several times. It still works on my iPhone 5s

That's not good! We definitely want your device to work properly at all times. What email application are you attempting to open? When did the issue start? Do you receive an error message when the application force closes?

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
If the issue persists...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore

Having the exact same issue. Also, on right click, many apps freeze/beachball and must force close. Additionally, uTorrent and Transmission are not operating correctly-uTorrent constantly beachballing and unresponsive. Right-click freezes with everything from Word to iMovie. Takes way too much time to do anything, and lots of cursor freezing, here is a sys log excerpt:

That killed the hard drive, so I got a new hard drive and had the Apple Store install Lion on it, then used Migration Assistant to bring files over. My Facebook app will force close when I open it
I click on the app and it will open for a few seconds then it will force close on me. I have restarted my iphone 5 several times deleted the app several times as well and the app still close FYI this is the only app that does it.
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss) -
Touch 4g randomly restarts and apps force close since ios 6
So after I got the ios 6 update my apps will force close after about 30 seconds on them, they won't slow down or anything just close, but if I try them again they will work fine. Also my touch will just restart itself (like when you hold the button on the top and home button) it mostly happens when i first start up an app but it will also randomly do it while I'm on an app. It does it almost everytime I go on mail, itunes, app store, messages, apps that i didn't install and my ipod either restarts or the app closes on installed apps. Also just to clarify my touch does turn back on and let me use it when it restarts. Please help this is extremely frustrating.
I would try restoring the iPod from backup. If necessary, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode:

Random app force close problems and other issues on Droid
Has anyone seen droid apps randomly force close a lot lately? I bought the Droid and have been having constant problems after the initial update. 2.2 brought no comfort. Facebook video never worked, screen has been jumpy, lots of random app resets and force close problems showing up lately, and the 3G speeds which was about the only good thing about Verizon has become very slow lately. This thing is starting to make windows mobile 6x look good.
This Droid device has seriously grown long in the tooth now. After nearly 10 yrs on verizon network, I'm seriously thinking of going back to AT&T for the iPhone or the new Windows 7 Phone. Anyone else feel that way about your Droid?Don't get me started with the Facebook app. Lets leave it at FAIL. But, yes. I've noticed it with maps, espescially if your in a moving vehicle when you open the app. Something about the gps and being in motion at the time. But, I've had it freeze from opening the camera to a few 3rd party apps. Very frustrating to the point that I'll take a regular phone AND a regular laptop, thank you. (<--not interested in renewing)

I am facing a strange problem on new iphone 5 that I bought last week. The maps app and the places in photo gallery shows the pin and my location, however there is no information of locations. Tried to close the apps, phone restart, reset etc. I am accessing it via strong wireless connection and it works fine on other devices. Please help.
