IPhone 4 restoring issue that is boggling my mind

I recently tried to restore my iphone 4 and update it, but in the middle of the restoring process, iTunes comes up with an error message with a different error number almost everytime. It is now stuck in recovery mode and I cant seem to get it out of it. I have tried rebooting my PC, installing latest itunes, turning off my firewall attempting to restore on another computer, and attemtpting a restore in DFU mode. none of these have been successful and I am out of ideas. If anyone could help me I'd be very greatful for your help!!

no i did but it is a loop the only thing you can do is restore if your still with in the hardware warranty yuo can take it in to be replace for free

  • Iphone 5 issues that hopefully have an easy solution. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got the iphone 5 about 6 months ago and have had wifi reception problems the entire time. I spend most of my time in my entertainment room (studio) which is on the opposite end of the house from the router. I have an imac, an apple tv2, an ipad, and (2) iphone 4 all using the same wifi and housed in this same room. They all have no problem picking up the signal and staying connected. My wife and her son both have iphone 4S and never lose connection when they are in my room. It's very frustrating because I was so excited about being able to mirror my phone through the apple tv and hd tv. I own an AT&T iphone 4 and a Verizon iphone 4 that aren't capable of mirroring. I have the original ipad which isn't capable of mirroring. My wife's 4S and her son's 4S are both capable and do it with ease but it's their phones, not mine. So I stayed patient knowing I would get the next upgrade and it was just a matter of time. Wrong. Between 5 phones, a desktop, a tablet, apple tv, PS3......My iphone 5 was the only one that won't connect. I am not talking about it loses the signal or cuts in and out, I am saying you have to walk halfway down the hall to even get it to detect the signal in the first place. Not a chance in **** of it actually staying connected to it.  I talked to Apple Support about the problem and asked if the iphone 5 had a weaker antenna or if there was a setting that needed to be adjusted. They were polite to me but in so many words let me know that my assessment was ridiculous and news to them. Well okay, no big deal, I just chalked it up as that maybe I got a dud this time as far as the antenna goes. Then, about a week ago, I dropped the phone and shattered the front glass and lcd. Luckily I had insurance and was able to get a brand new replacement. The problem is the antenna reception is exactly the same. So this was not an isolated incident and I wasn't crazy for asking about it. I don't see how they haven't received tons of complaints about this issue. I love Apple products and probably just expect perfection because I have never had any major problems with any of my Apple devices. But it is an unpleasant surprise that the newer model takes several steps back on such an important feature. Sorry for the rant and I remain positive that this issue can be addressed, if it hasn't already.
P.S.....The iphone 5 that I got two days ago has an awesome new feature. If you are using the phone for an actual phone call, the person you are talking to can't be heard whatsoever. If you can get them to talk really loudly and repeat themselves at least three times, you will have a greater chance of comprehending the purpose of the call.

Hey braswell4AU: I have a similar issue. I purchased 2 iPhone 5's the first day they came out. Black 64gb for myself and white 32gb for my wife. She is having somewhat the same issues as you have. Wifi is weak and keeps dropping the signal, and also her phone almost never has LTE. And we are in a very strong Verizon LTE area in north Los Angeles county. My phone has never had any signal issues, wifi or LTE. I have been researching the issue to no avail. I though maybe the white with the brushed alluminum may cause signal issues, but haven't found anything on that and posts about the black one haven't problems blew that theory up.
I have also changed the SIM card and the phone itself and still the same problem. I saw a post about someone getting their phone swapped out and the apple rep told him not to restore the phone, but to just set it up as new. I have yet to try it, gonna try this weekend.. But it makes sense! I, like you have 6 apple devices (2 iPhone 5's, 2 iPhone 4's apple tv3, and the ipad3) and have no issues running all my devices via router.
So I am thinking about the history of the restores and backups and my wife is the only one that went from the 4 to the 5.. Every other device was setup as new. So my theory is that he iphone 5 has issues when you restore from previous backups.. Maybe something a little different from the backups of the previous models create issues in the iPhone 5's?
Like I said, I'm going to give it a shot this weekend and see what happens. If you get a chance to try this before, please let me know if it works and if I try before you I will update you.
Good luck and hopefully we can get these wonderful phones working like they should!

  • IPhone Restore issues

    Hello Support Team,
I was not able to test my iOS apps on my iPhone 4 since last 2-3 days. When I connect my device to Mac, iTunes shows two options either restore my iPhone  or Update it to latest iOS 7.I updated my device to iOS 7 but still I was not able to remove the device(iOS 6.1.3) and xcode(4.5) version compatobility issue. So Today I restore my iPhone after having a backup of data. But after successful restoration iTunes shows following messages.
This iPhone is currently linked to an Apple ID (s●●●●●@m●●●●●.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPhone.
But I don't know either my apple id or Password which I had used to register my device.
So please tell me the solution.

Did this happen because i restored the software with the non-original sim card?
    No.
Will it work again once at&t assigns a new sim card to it?
Doubtful. You will need to get a new SIM card from AT&T to activate the iPhone for your girlfriend's line/number with AT&T. After inserting the new SIM card in the iPhone, when connecting the iPhone to iTunes you will be prompted to activate the iPhone with AT&T, but if there is a problem with the iPhone, which based on the error message provided there seems to be a problem, you probably won't be able to activate or use the iPhone.
Is there an Apple store nearby?

My Iphone 4, is in recovery mode, but my computer says it is not eligible for restore. Is there anything that I could do?

Did you already follow the steps in the article you have linked above?
    Resolve communication issues
Check the hosts file or TCP/IP filtering, which might cause communication issues between iTunes, ports, and servers.
Common errors: 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194, or 3000-3999. These alerts refer to gs.apple.com, say "There was a problem downloading the software", or say the "device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    Configure your security software
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
    Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.

  • HT1267 Iphone restoration issue

    Hi
I was restoring my iphone via itune and the restoration was not completed due to incomplete disk space. I cleared the disk space and restarted itune. When I tried to syn it again, I received this error message: this iphone cannot be used because apple mobile service not started. How to resolve this issue?
    Regards
    Ken

Make sure you've got atleast 2-3GB space on the hard drive of the computer where your operating system is installed.
Download the latest version of iTunes : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
After installing, try restoring the iPhone once again
    This should solve your issue!

  • HT201210 Help! iPhone restore issues

i tried to update my iPhone 3G and in the process there was an error. it prompted me to restore..so i did. when trying to restore, the phone needs a sim card to continue the process. my sim card does not work so iPhone was not activated. Does this mean my phone is locked? Any thoughts and suggestions what can be done?

The iPhone has to be activated before you can do anything with it.  In order to do this on a GSM phone you have to have a valid sim card in it.  The sim card doesn't have to be activated, it just has to be valid and present.  If your phone is locked to a specific carrier the sim card has to be from that carrier.  If you don't have one, or if yours is damaged, borrow one from someone else or contact the carrier it is locked to to see if they would give or sell you a deactivated sim card for this purpose.  If you phone is officially unlocked, any sim GSM card will work.

I am attempting to restore my iphone but it will not connect to the coputer. As soon as I disconnect from the charger It shuts down.

Press the “Home” button on the front and the “Sleep/Wake” button on the top of the iPhone. Hold both buttons down for a minimum of 15 seconds, or until the device turns off. Then release both two buttons.

  • New iPhone Restore issues

My new iPhone isn't recognizing my new number when I plug it in to iTunes. It downloaded all of my apps, but still says no service. I've reset it and tried to redo the restore 3 times now. Any pointers?

Was it activated with the carrier?

  • I've factory reset my iPhone twice, about to be three times. has anyone else had issues that force them to factory reset their phones.

So I got my iPhone 6 on the day it came out and it has been the most frustrating experience I've ever had with apple.  I've had to factory reset my phone twice, probably about to be three times once i get home from work.  The first time was trying to transfer my stuff from my old iPhone and right after it finished my iPhone 6 turned itself off then turned on to the boot up screen (the one with the apple logo) and then shut off then did the same thing.  this forced my to factory reset my new iphone literally the day i got it.  The next day i was trying to upload my music and basically the same thing happened again, forcing me to reset my phone for a second time.  Just now (its been two weeks that I've owned my new phone)i tried to get on twitter and the app crashed then my phone reset itself and when it loaded to the unlock screen, instead of my background it was just a black screen with the time and the unlock slide.  when i unlocked it, it went back to the normal background and the main screen.  Because whenever i would turn off (not power off, but put it to sleep) the phone and turn it back on it would do the same thing.  I decided to restart it (actually turn it completely off and then back on) and now it will show the boot up screen then turn off.  I understand that there is the solution of factory resetting my iPhone, but 3 times in 2 weeks is pretty unacceptable, seeing as i had a 4s for almost 3 years and never once had to factory reset it and its also incredibly annoying to have to redownload all of my stuff.  Has anyone else had this problem? is there anyway i can keep this from continuing to happen?  is it a software issue or is it the phone itself that is messing up?

WiseJD, thank you for your suggestions.  Well the first two restorations were the first and second day (9/19 and 9/20) that i had my 6 and both times i chose to restore is as new.  since then there haven't been any issues until now.  granted the first time my phone messed up was after i used the At&t transfer app which made me think it couldve been something that corrupted my device.  the second time though started with me attempting to download music from the itunes store app on the phone.  for whatever reason it would download but not but it wouldnt process and install the music.  Then i tried to download it from my computer and thats when the second screw up occurred. that time i dont think it was an issue of my phone being corrupted because it was already acting strangely before i ever plugged it into my computer.  This third time, i'm at work so i havent been able to do anything about it, i wasnt downloading anything and my phone was not hooked up to a computer, i simply tried to open twitter and then all this happened. and it has been a solid almost two weeks without incident which makes me think its my phone and not corrupt files.  also looking at forums, not just these but other online, i haven't really seen anyone with the same problem which adds to my thought that its a problem with my phone.
Just to be clear, the first time this happened, the iphone would display the boot up screen then shut off then turn on and display the boot up screen, then shut of and kept going on like that until i put my iphone into recovery mode and factory reset it.  the second time the iphone would display the boot up screen and then shut off, but wouldnt turn on unless i pressed the power button again.  this third time is the same story.  i dont know if this makes a difference or if its symptomatic of different problems but i figured it wouldnt hurt to explain in detail the issues that happened each separate time.
Also on a side note, i havent done anything like jailbreak it, mess with it download or any third party apps not on the app store.

  • IPhone: 1.1.4/Restore Issues

I'm trying to upgrade my iPhone to 1.1.4 on my MacBook Pro. I successfully download the package and the software extracts, but when it gets to the "backing up iPhone" screen, it appears to hang and then after a couple minutes my iPhone restarts and I get "iTunes could not sync because iPhone is disconnected." What the ****?
    I've tried updating on 2 Macs--NO GO!
I've tried restoring on 2 different Macs--NO GO!
I've connected it to a PC and tried updating and restoring--NO GO!
I've trashed the updates in my library\itunes\iphone software updates--NO GO!
I've created a second account and tried using the new iTunes--NO GO!
I have a lot of text messages that I'd like to save with Syphone so I don't want to do a hard reset on the iPhone itself unless I absolutely have to. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can try next?
    Remixlab

Not an expert by any means but I did go thru a pretty hectic time getting my iPhone--sync issue right.
Try Opening iSync. --->open preferences ---->reset sync history.
    Reset your phone.
(Not sure if running disc utility will help--->repairing disc permission.) can't hurt.
    Restart your computer.
    Sync. w iTunes.
Hope this helps... The calvary will be here soon.
