IPhone 4/Retrieving iCloud Photos

When I updated my software I lost ALL of my photos, while most can be replaced there are a select few I am at a loss for. I went to icloud.com and logged in and it only shows email, reminders, notes, where is my iphone and calander. I don't see an option for photos. I always backed up to iCloud every time I made a major change to my device so I know for a fact the photos are backed up ... Just how do I retrieve them?

I tried that, I like to keep my camera roll clear and it puts all my photos in there making me delete them manually, it also kept screwing up the order.  There was a few other things i didnt like about it.  Another thing apple needs to fix, a select all button for pics

  • Retrieving icloud photos

I had an iPod touch stolen and want to retrieve the photos from that device stored in iCloud. How can this be done? Wehave other deviced connected to this same apple account. thanks

I'm sorry about that. Now I recommend you to use iPhone Data Recovery, which is designed to recover data through Apple ID and iCloud. The following steps will teach you how to retrieve photos from iCloud.
Step 1. Download the iPhone Data Recovery on your computer and install it first.
Step 2. Choose iCloud Backup File and sign in your iCloud Account.
Step 3. Enter the program and choose any of them you want to get back and click the "Download" button. After downloaded the files, click the same button to start extracting.
Step 4. Click "Camera Roll" on the left side of the window, and then preview the record. Choose what you want to recover. You will get back deleted photos after clicking "Recover".
You'll find easy to retrieve photos and other data.

  • Is it possible to retrieve iCloud photos taken before photostream on mac was activated?

I was recently updating my iPhone 5 iOS software when itunes ejected my phone saying that it was drawing too much power (I later learned this was becasue the phone charger was stripped). Anyway, when it ejected my phone it went into recovery mode. I hade no choice but to restore it. It then restored to factory settings. Pictures, music, apps: gone. I retrieved my apps and music. However, my photos are gone and are not in my iPhoto. I thought i had backed it up but the latest backups on iTunes say 6 months ago. All of the photos i need are from the past 4 months. My iCloud says that i have 4GB of photos stored. Is there any way to get those iCloud photos into my iPhoto? I recently discovered how to turn on my iphoto photostream and it is currently working fine with new photos. But i would like to get my old photos that are in iCloud and not on any other dievice onto my computer. Any Suggestions?

You retrieve the photo stream photos from the last 30 days by signing back in to your iCloud account in Settings>iCloud and enabling photo stream.
If restoring your backup failed to restore your phones (as unfortunately sometimes happens), you could try the solution posted by ezjules in this post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4076441?start=0&tstart=0.  This involves connecting your phone to your wall charger during the restore and after it restarts and you enter your Apple ID passwords, open your photos app and keep it open for the remainder of the restore process.  Some have reported success by doing this.

  • IPHONE 5 RETRIEVE DELETED PHOTOS WITHOUT BACKUP

    Hi,
    Hope anyone could help me.
Is there any way to retrieve my photos (taken last night then accidentally deleted earlier this morning)???
Just got my new iphone 5 (last week) and I forgot to ON my icloud that's why I dont have the backup files.
Please help me, I hate this feeling. I really need to retrieve all the important photos.
    Thank you.

You can use iOS data recovery, I've tried and test it on iOS 6 on my iPhone 4, so I can't guarantee anything for an iPhone 5 but I would be fairly sure it would work.
First restore your iPhone 5 from backup so it has all your pics which you want to save on your phone (among the useless extra stuff you don't want). Then back up your phone and open iOS data recovery and locate your most recent backup. Find photo file and select then and export them to your desktop (along with the info which it asks, required to restore into a backup).
Then restore your phone to new and do not restore from backup. Once it's back to factory settings, back up your phone (obviously this will backup practically nothing as you have just restored it). Then open it and locate the clean backup you just created. Then choose "import" and select the pic file and import them into your backup. Once this is done, go to iTunes and choose restore from backup and select this backup. This should keep everything clean, and just put the photos back onto your phone, aka your photos and contacts.

  • HT201077 I have turned off photo stream on my iphone but the icloud photos dont disappear

I have turned off photo stream on my 4s 7 ios but the icloud photos are still on my phone taking up data space, HELP!

Welcome to the Apple Community Ed.
They sound like they are in the camera roll or synced from a computer, rather than in photo stream to me.
My webpage here might help you understand the various ways photos can be saved on your device and some of the advantages and disadvantages associated with each method.

  • How to retrieve iCloud photos from an iPhone I gave away?

I Had not removed or otherwise saved the important photos on the iPhone4 before giving it away, and now we are thousands of miles apart - but the photos are still on my iCloud. How do we retrieve image data  from iCloud?

Then you should only need to log into your iCloud account and enable photostream. But note that photostream only holds photos for 30 days.

  • How can I remove my iCloud Photo Albums from my iPhone 6 storage, but still use the iCloud Photo Sharing?

I put all my photos from my iPod Touch 4 and my iPhone 4S in iCloud Photo Albums and Labeled them so that when I got the new iPhone 6 on iOS 8.1.2 I could have my previous photos on there for future use. Now I look on my iTunes app on my computer it shows that my storage on my iPhone 6 is almost full. Those Photos in iCloud are taking up all my storage on my iPhone. I know how to add more storage on my iCloud account, I just want to know Is there a way where my iCloud Photo Albums can still be in my iCloud Account, just not taking up all my storage on my iPhone.

    Hello mushysun,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you did not sign out of your Apple ID on your iPhone before creating a new one, then you will need to sign back in with your previous Apple ID and then sign out.  If you do not remember your password and do not have access to the email account, then you can reset your password by using the security questions.

  • ICloud Photo Library: How do I transfer photos and videos only from my iPhone to my iPad but not from my iPad to my iPhone?

I had iCloud photo libraey turned on on both my iPad and iPhone. As said by the feature, photos and videos were being transferred automatically from each device to each other. I have a 64GB iPad Air 2 and my iPhone 5 only has 16GB of storage so I am lacking much more space on my iPhone than my iPad. I was wondering if there was a way to transfer photos only from my iPhone to my iPad but not from my iPad to my iPhone. Would turning off iCloud Photo library on my iPad do the trick? Thanks hope someone can help me out.

iCloud Photo Library keeps all of your photos in the Cloud which you then can selectively download. So, unless you download the iPad photos, they are not going to be taking up any room on your iPhone:
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

  • Download video from iphone icloud photo stream to mac?

    I have a iPhone 4s iOS 7.1.2 and a 2012 MacBook 13" OSX 2.9 i7 dual core on Mavericks 10.9.5
I'm using iPhoto 9.4.3 on my Mac
The issue: after filming several biking videos on my iphone, I ran out of space.
So I 'shared' in a icloud folder I have called 'Bikes'.
I then deleted the video files on my iphone.
The issue:  when I got home and tried to sync my iphone pictures and videos to the Mac,
only the photos were synced to the library and the icloud photostream album.
    The videos were nowhere.
The videos seem to be only available to view on the iphone icloud album.
The only way to share the video is to share the entire album and force the sharees to open an icloud account (something I do not want to inflict on friends).
Creating a smart album on iphoto to find all videos doesn't help either as the videos aren't on the hard drive, they're on icloud.
How can I get back control of my video content?  I simply want to download MY OWN videos to MY OWN hard drive.
Would an upgrade to Yosemite help me?  Would this enable one to access one's own video content in icloud and be able to download it to one's own hard drive?
Anyone else frustrated by iphoto/icloud video limitations?

    Thanks for answering Léonie,
But I'm cool with creating private and shared albums, thing is, they are not the same depending on whether you view them from an iPhone and MacBook.
The same iCloud/photo stream album eg. 'Bikes' contains pictures and videos when viewed from an iPhone but when viewed from a MacBook, the videos have mysteriously disappeared.
All I want to do is:
1/ Download the video files from iPhone iCloud to my iPhone (4s on iOS 7.1.2) Camera Roll (not possible)
2/ Download from MacBook iPhoto/Photos stream/album to my MacBook hard drive, but it's not currently possible (osx 10.9.5).
The only place where these particular videos are is in the iPhone version of iCloud/photo stream album.  I (increasingly regrettably) deleted the original videos from my iPhone Camera Roll after I had added the videos to the iCloud photo stream album.  I know I can easily download photos from my iphone/icloud photostream album but downloading a selected video gives me a greyed out sharing option button.
Reading about Yosemite upgrades on my 2012 MacBook (2.9 i7 dual core, 8Go RAM) I am very, very wary about upgrading my MacBook to Yosemite and Photo just for this issue, especially if I still can't access my video file and have to face hours of data recovery/formatting and full reinstall! Not to mention risking having incompatibility issues with my database/analytics software!

  • How does sinking work on iCloud photo library

Can I sync only a portion of photos or videos in my iPhone to the iCloud Photo Library?

Yes, they would be deleted from iCloud as well and you will lose them.  Be sure to import them to your computer before deleting them from your device, as explained here: Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support.

  • ICloud photo library size

    Hi all,
I just have a quick question regarding iCloud photo library size.
What happens when the iCloud photo library is larger than the space on my iPhone?
My iCloud photo library size is 4gb (I am still within the free 5gb) however, the space on my phone is under 4gb.
All of my photos have been uploaded on the iCloud photo library beta for Mac/ Yosemite.
I'm aware that there are 2 options within the iCloud - Photos menu which are "Optimise iPhone Storage" or "Download and Keep originals"
Now I thought that regardless of which option you selected they would still store a local copy on your iPhone, but what happens when even the optimised versions take up more space than your phone can handle?
Sorry if I'm being a bit slow here, I'm just slightly puzzled by this one.
    Thanks

One lesser-known feature of iCloud documents (I can't speak for Photos quite yet) is that storage on your iOS devices is dynamically managed - if a document hasn't been accessed from the iOS device in a long time, it will automatically be removed if space is needed (the way RAM is managed on a Mac) - all you have on the iOS device at that point is document metadata (title, etc.). If/when you need to access it again, it'll be re-downloaded. Note that it's different on a Mac - every iCloud document is cached on your Mac - I guess the assumption is that you have the space, and that accessing documents while working offline/off the grid is more important to someone who's using a laptop.
I expect iCloud Photo Library will work similarly, if not identically: On iOS a thumbnail of everything, larger images of items that are actually opened and viewed. If available storage starts to dwindle, the higher-res versions of the least-frequently viewed items will be removed until they're called for again. On Mac, a complete cache of everything, at full resolution.

  • ICloud photo and photo(beta) hidden files(photos)

Last week I copied my iPhoto to the new Photo. Everything went as expected, so happy with that. After that got a bigger iCloud package (200Gb) and started to copy my photo library to the cloud. And again everything went as expected.
Only in iPhoto I had a couple of photo's on hidden. The transfer to photo they stayed hidden! So all ok!
But today after completing the copy to iCloud (1 week), the pictures that should be hidden were not hidden on Photo on iCloud or any of my mobile devices! Is this normal or is there something going "still" wrong?
Love to know what is happening and how I can fix it. Beside copying the hidden photo to a other app and removing them from photo and the iCloud.
    Regards
    Vincent

  • When using iCloud Photo Library: Delete photos after iPhoto-import, or not?

Now this issue may belong into iCloud, iPhoto or iPhone section as well, so I hope it’s ok to put it here …
Before iCloud Photo Library appeared on stage, I would regularly sync my iPhone camera roll with iPhoto. Then (upon iPhotos request) I'd have them deleted from my iPhone. And finally I'd sync back with iTunes - where I had set it to sync "all photos from last 12 months".
However, now I have turned on iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone, and am quite happy so far. Nonetheless - as it still is in beta - I prefer to additionally sync with iPhoto, so as to have my originals safely stored locally.
That said, after importing into iPhoto I wonder if I still should say „yes“ to the "Delete from iPhone" popup? I tested it, and to my surprise all „deleted“ photos remain untouched and available on my iPhone - say in iCloud Photo library! When I agreed to delete them, I expected that they’d all disappear into thin air. But that is not the case.
So what’s happening here? What is the sense of „yes, delete“ when these pics do *not* get deleted then?
Of course I'd *want to keep them* in iCloud Photo Library, but anyway, I don't understand this behaviour at all. And as some friends have asked the very same question, I thought to ask you Apple specialists here. Thank you in advance for giving me deeper insight into Apples actual photo handling secrets.

    No idea about this, anybody?

  • ICloud Photo Library not syncing on Mac

I am running OS X 10.10.3 (14D136) and turned on iCloud Photo Library over a week ago. It is stuck uploading on 2,033 originals to go. It has done 3000 already, but has been on this number for several days. I also have an iPhone 6 and iPad. New photos I am taking on my iPhone are not appearing in the All Photos section of OS X Photos.
Why has it stopped syncing - any ideas?
I have restarted, done a safe boot, repaired permissions, and logged out/in of iCloud.
    Thanks

I found a solution that worked for me.....It seems there were some pictures that were blocking others...
First pause the sync process in Photos Preferences.
To detect the corrupted pictures I created a 'Smart Album" with the conditions: Picture is referenced. Photos found all the pictures that lost there original ' reference' file. In my case there were only three.
I looked up these pictures in my iPhoto Backup (last backup before I switched to photos). This to be certain I still have the originals.
I deleted the corrupt pictures from my Photos Library and emptied the 'recently deleted' folder. This to make sure the corrupted files we completely removed from the library (Photos app also uploads 'recently removed' pictures...).
Then I proceeded the syncing process in Photos Preferences.
After it was finished I tried if modifications I made in Photos OSX came through on my iDevices. They did on my iPad, but not on my iPhone. So I turned off iCloud Photos on my iPhone (preferences). And after all pictures were removed I rebooted my iPhone and turned iCloud Photos back on. Then all Devices were in sync!
Finally I exported the pictures that were corrupted from my iPhoto backup and imported them into Photos.

  • How do I upload photos from PC onto the icloud photo library?

Hi. I have IOS 8.1 on my Apple devices (iphone and ipad). iCloud Photo Library is enabled on my devices and PC (iCloud.com).
The photos taken on these devices has uploaded to ICloud Photo Library into my cloud storage.
I want to also upload my photos taken by various cameras and stored on my PC (old photos).into the cloud for these t be available in the Library.  I use Windows 7
    How do I do this?

I have this problem too. Photo stream works fine on iPhone+iPad, but the photos are never loaded to my PC (Win 8.1). My shared folders works fine on iOS and PC, but not My photo stram.
In the beginning, a couple of years ago, it work, but not now (2014).
All iOS are updated, and PC-iCloud software/panel is Active, and Photo stream is activated.
    What to do??
Reset all streams on PC? I tried, no result.
I can understand that it takes time to reload all Pictures from iCload to my PC, but I wait Days, weeks...
