Hi i just wanted to know whether there is any way i could unlock the carrier (orange UK) on my handset. I am unable to get the same unlocked from Orange as i dont have the details of the previous owner and the carrier wont help in unlocking it. Is there any other way i could get the fone in use in India. My friend had gifted me this handset and now he is nomore so i dont have any details of his customer id's with orange UK. Please help me as i am trying to get it unlocked since last 2 months.

Apple can't/won't help you, and no one here can help you. Only Orange can authorize the official unlocking of your phone, no one else.
Apple does not unlock carrier locked iPhones.
You need to deal with Orange.

Hello I bought my sister an iphone 3g it was working good until we pluged it to the computer so we could put it back to factory settings.
Now the iphone is stuck in in the itunes logo with a white arrow and USB cable. I have tried everything but nothing works. Also the iphone said it was running 4.2.1 and baseband 6.15.00 I believe it was.
ThanksThey are either referring to newer iPhones which can officially be updated past 4.2.1 or describe unsupported hacks which shouldn't be attempted.

Hi there could someone out there please help i've got a Iphone 4 running on IOS 5 and it will not come out of recovery mode> It comes up with the error code -1 which i've looked everywhere on the web but no one seams to have the same issue.
This is a reconditioned replacement phone from the apple genius guys which i paid £130 for and only got 3 months warranty with and as soon as the warranty run out it crashed on me and never been able to get it back out of recovery mode. I've been back to the apple genius guys and they have told me there's nothing they can do other than charge me £130 to take the phone off me and give me another reconditioned phone with a 3 month warranty. Which as you can properly tell i dont want to.

How do I install ios 5.1.1 to my iPhone 4 (running on ios 5.0.1) if ios 6 is out?
I am currently trying to install ios 5.1.1 on my iPhone 4 (who is running on ios 5.0.1) but iTunes says "the device is not eliglble for the build". I have been trying to install it from a chosen ipsw as I don't want ios 6 to get into my iPhone.
Does anyone know how to install an ios that is not the latest version?You can't because Apple have stopped signing 5.1.1 so if you want to upgrade then you'll have to upgrade to ios 6 which is the latest or not at all. You won't be able to upgrade to 5.1.1 now that 6 is out.

If you have iPhone 3G, the latest and greatest is IOS 4.2.1.
If you have iPhone 3GS or later, you can only update to IOS 6.0.1.
For iPhone 5 and iPad mini, you can update to IOS 6.0.2. -
I cannot send or forward email but I do receive mail OK. All of the same settings work on my wife's IPhone and our Ipad. All are running on IOS 5.0.1. I get a message of your email has been put in your outbox because the receipent "%@" does not allow relaying.
Try deleting the mail account and setting it back up again.

Restore your iPhone 5 as new before you restore it from the backup. That will get rid of the old iOS and install a new one. Then you'll be able to restore from the backup.
Bear in mind that if the backup is larger than the capacity of the device then you will not be able to restore from that backup. In other words:
If you had a 32gb iPhone 3GS and you bought a 16gb iPhone 5, and your backup for your 3GS was 18gb then you would not be able to restore using this backup. -

You're probably running into the servers simply being swamped. Thousands of people are all going for the software update at the same time. Give it a try again and if that doesn't work, then try plugging it into your computer and trying it that way.
I didn't get a notion of the size, it doesn't seem to be as big as the 700 meg 5.0 update, but it did take me 20+ minutes to download via cable internet so it's a large file. That in and of itself takes a while.
If you're trying to download it directly to your iPhone, you'll need to be on wifi since I'm sure it's well over the 20 meg file size limit for 3G. -

It's your choice. You may find that some apps might have 5.1 as a minimum requirement, so you won't be able to download/upgrade those apps.

My iphone 4 running on 6.1.3 has started hanging after updating to ios 7. The transition between the apps and the other features becomes quiet irritating and seems as if the screen is freezed with a quiet long lag in transistion as compared to ios 6.1.3.
