What is the Best iPhone 5 Screen Protector? Anyone have any recommendations?

I've used no less than 10 different types of iPhone screen protectors. Most are either difficult to put on (Zagg, invisible shield, etc.) or just plain suck (too thick, bubbles, folds, etc.). The HD are the best covers out there. They are very easy to apply bubble free. They also stay on once applied. Others that go on easy often fold up when a case is applied. This one does not. I use a Speck case which curled the other easy apply protectors but did not curl this one. Great product!

do i need iPhone 4s screen protector ?

You do not need to run iPhoto, when you have Aperture, but if you want to open older iPhoto libraries in Aperture, they will have to be upgraded by iPhoto to the latest version, so that Aperture can open them.
I'd keep iPhoto installed for several reasons - it is really useful as a second browser for your Photo Libraries, see my User Tip here:                   Keep iPhoto - It May Come in Handy!

  • A truly transparent iPhone 5 screen protector?

I got an iPhone 5 last week. First thing I did was buy a nice sleek, clear 'shell' case for it and also a screen protector. The case is great as it gives some protection, doesn't cover the controls, doesn't spoil the nice design of the device and makes it feel a bit more assured in your hand. All good ;-) Not so with the screen protector.
I bought a Belkin Anti-Smudge screen protector, which came as a pack of 2 for $14. I fitted it okay but when I unlocked the phone I was very disappointed with the display. The beautiful iPhone 5 screen was reduced to a grainy, much less clear display. Text also appeared more fuzzy and harder to read. Sort of Retina to rectum!! :-( It was really quite poor. On the other hand I would like some piece of mind that a screen protector can offer. So I'm wondering what the alternative option might be that a truly transparent? I seen lots online but I'm bought off buying until I hear about a particular product - After the Belkin thing it's a case of once bitten twice shy. 'Tru-Clear' my arse! Not impressed with that at all.

I think you're right, Peter. It's a toss up between screen protection & spoiling the lovely Retina display or taking a chance and seeing things as they should be. I've looked at a few friends and families phones, that have protectors on them, and the display is really degraded by them. I don't think I'll bother with a protector and I've bought an iPhone 5 'sock' to protect the phone when I travel. That will do me for now

  • IPhone 4 Screen Protector or Not?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but couldn't find it...
I have had several different screen protectors and none of them seem to be any good, I've tried cheap ones & expensive ones and found them all to be crap! I also bought a Tech21 iMesh case, but when the case is on, the screen protector peels at the edges.
So, with the fancy glass that Apple have used to the screen, do I really need to protect it? I normally carry my phone in my pocket with change and sometimes my keys. The screen on my unprotected N95, never got badly marked...but I'm right unlucky!
What do you guys think? Can I get away without the protector or is there one that does what it says on the tin & fits with the iMesh?
    Cheers,
    Me

    hello bakedbeanbomber
ive always liked the really cheap ebay screen protectors, you know the 6 for 2.99 or what have you. when i had my 2nd gen itouch i used two protectors, one was a pretty expensive Casemate the sales associate duped me into buying and the other was one of the ebay ones, the ebay one stayed better, diddnt curl up or peel like the expensive thicker ones did and lasted longer.
ive tried the ZAGG ones and its way too thick which IMHO makes the swift glide feel of an iphone feel like the roughness of a droid. on my iphone4 i was super scared of scratches and such so i bought some of the ebay protectors (cheaper price, you get alot so if you mess up its no big problem) and an initial case to protect the back glass. the protector has lasted me since july last year, has never peeled and ive used an array of different cases. recently i changed it to a new one due to how scratched it has gotten (also do to keys change, picks and all the random things that collect in pockets ) and my screen was flawless.
The subject of "the fancy glass that Apple have used for the screen"
as fancy or resistant as they market the screen eveything scratches, i work in optometry and if we had clear enough lens protectors for glasses i would definately recomend them.
i now use a screen protector for the front, a nice vinyl sticker for the back (which they sell on ebay as well for like 4 bucks and they have some cool designs) and when i feel like i might be in a situation where i could drop my phone i put on my bumper its still very sleek very thin and feels great. the protectors and stickers peel right off not leaving a trace and do a **** of a job against scratches.
thanks for reading this super long response haha (sorry if i bored you)

  • IPhone 5 Screen Protectors Belkin, Power Support, Spigen SGP, Zagg,

This is my first iPhone ever. I have been doing some research (like everyone else) on the best screen protectors. I found two products at the Apple store, Belkin's IRIS Anti-Glare Film and Power Support HD Anti-Glare Film. I ended up purchasing the Belkin one. Later on, I did some research and found very little on the Belkin, it's not even listed on their Web site. Did I buy a lemon? I also notice people are talking about Zagg and Spigen SGP. These both seem to have the same performance but Zagg is more expensive.
I am looking for something that is scratch resistent, very clear, smudge resistent and perhaps anit-glare. I was hoping to get some feedback on these four products.

You didn't buy a lemon; the Belkin Iris Anti-Glare is what it is, a clearer but less smudge-resistant version of the venerable Power Support Anti-Glare film, whose superior anti-smudge and silky-smooth texture is offset by the relative graininess it imbues on the iPhone's retina display. The Spigen SGP is similar to the PS AG, I hear; the Zagg appears to have more of an "orange peel" look and feel to it, but its main calling card is its toughness and durability.
It may come down to—as with all AG/anti-reflective films—how much relative importance you attribute to unavoidable pixelation vs texture/anti-glare properties.

  • Anti-***Reflective***, not Anti-Glare, iPhone/iPad Screen Protector?

Short version:  Does anybody know of a true anti-reflective screen-protector sheet for iPhone 4S or for iPad?
    More detail:
Way back on my old iPhone 3G, I had an anti-reflective screen protector sheet.  It worked really really great in direct-sunlight environments!  The only downside was that it did show up fingerprints, but they didn't show up much when the screen was on, and they were easy to clean off.
When it finally wore out, I bought somebody else's screen protector that they called anti-reflective, but it was actually just anti-glare.  **Anti-glare** is that frosty finish that does not actually dim reflections, but instead makes them fuzzy.  In fact, it makes the image on the screen a bit fuzzy too, which is why I don't like them.  **Anti-reflective** is like a camera lens, or most glasses, where it reflects images still completely focused (and doesn't fuzz up the screen image either), but reflects it at a much dimmer intensity, often with a greenish hue.
Best I can tell, no such product exists anymore, for iPhone or for iPad.  Do any of you know of such a thing?

I did spend some time searching, but could not find any similar discussion in this forum.
That is because this is NOT a discussion forum.
It is hosted by Apple for asking technical support questions
Suggest you read the terms on use of this forum for future reference
and read carefully the link provided above by Pogster
You are lucky Apple actually fixed it for you considering the terms for returning for repair were not followed

  • Iphone 6 screen protector with exact cutouts

Been looking for a good screen protector for the iPhone 6.  However all I am seeing are ones with a full cutout for the home button.  I find them kinda ugly. Would like it to just have the circle cutout for the home button.
Has anyone come across one without the large cutouts?
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

I just got my illoome screen protector today And it has the very precise cut outs. The sides and edges are covered

  • Do iphone 5 screen protectors fit on the iphone 5c

Yes so do they because I recieved a 5C as a gft, but got screen protectors for the 5. I don't want to open the pacakage if they don't fit. Also, I thought the 5C was a different shape than the 5 and 5S, that's why the protectors wouldn't fit.

Hello. Skydiver pretty much said it all! Don't know that I have anything more other than another voice in the dark. You really should get the case that is meant for your iPod. The phones look like the iPod but they are different dimensions and buttons are in different places. The screens are glass and glass breaks and scratches, etc. Unfortunately the cases that protect the glass as well as the body of the iPod will have rubber and add some bulk. As for falls and drops, any fall / drop may do damage if it hits the road so to speak the right wrong way, even with a case, but your odds of survival without damage are better with a case.
I have a Griffin Survivor it's day glow yellow and black, makes it easy to find. One of the benefits of the rubber, makes holding on to my iPod easier, and it keeps the iPod from slipping falling out of my pocket when I bend over. The seals on the ports have kept mine clear of stuff in the ports and kept the weather off my iPod. I know this is starting to sound like a commercial but I'm happy with my case. I have beat the snot out of it, dropped it on rocks, spilled tea on it, been caught in the rain and snow, gone dirt biking, rolled it down a flight of stairs in a backpack with a glass bottle of tea, (remember the tea), the bottle broke, tea on everything, ruined everything, but just wiped the iPod off and still going, and worst of all... left it in the hands of a 6 year old, so far, so good. Something to note some cases state they are waterproof and some say they are watertight, waterproof means spill something on it or get wind driven rain on it your most likely protected (the Survivor is waterproof) but drop it in the toilet and your all wet. Watertight can go in the water and should be OK as long as the seals work. Sorry it's so long, Hope this helps, Good luck.

  • Best iPhone 4 Screen Protector

So for a while now I have had Ghost Armor as a screen protector, but most recently my top left corner hasn't been sticking and I need to replace it. Anyone know of a good screen protector? I don't have a preference only that it lasts a while and that you aren't having to apply some weird sticky stuff to make the screen stick. Also, I don't want the protector to effect my retina, or my touch screen. Thanks!

    Phone Devil Magic Screen Protector
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VPT5U2
I have used a number of screen protectors and this is one of the best ones so far (from the 20 in a pack for 0.99 cents to the military/space grade ones). The anti-glare feature doesn't get any better than this. The other product that looks good too is the Power Support screen protector. However, the PhoneDevil/MediaDevil are a better bargain. I have the Power Support anti-glare on my iPad and the PhoneDevil/MediaDevil on my iPhone. After installing both I ordered another pack of the PhoneDevil/MediaDevil for my wife's iPhone and for 2 other iPads that we have. I use my iPhone/iPad to process credit cards and customers have to sign on them. It is nice to hand them the gadget without tons of finger prints on the screen. It is also easier for them to see outdoors.
As with any screen protector, the key is to ensure the screen is clean. I recommend that these are installed in the bathroom. Let the hot shower run for a bit so the bathroom steams up. Once the steam has cleared, clean the screen as noted in the instructions. Don't be in a rush. Take your time. Also, use the card provided to remove any bubbles.

  • IPhone provided screen protector has lint forming bubbles

I'm using the screen protector that was provided with the iPhone 3g, the ATNT rep who put it on got some lint or dust between the screen and the film protector.
Can this screen protector be cleaned with water or something else? It has rather alot of lint that's forming bubbles and I don't want to scratch the screen by using it with lint between the film and screen.

I haven't seen another's recommendation of the "boxwave" or whatever, or I would have chk'd that out... but I did roll the dice on ZAGGS invisible Shield and just applied it. I only did the Front of my 3G and it went out without a problem in 3-4 minutes. No muss, no fuss! Looks great so far... most will indicate if their honest that there is some minor granularity shortly after applying it (similar to when you first have your car windows tinted professionally for 24hr's or so, but it gradually disappears completely. If I look very closely, after 15 min of applying it, I faintly see the granularity but I really have to turn it at a specific angle. If it still remains next wk, I return it no questions asked with a refund. Regardless what you decide to use, you definitely need something protecting the Front of you iPhone. A colleague of mine had his for only a few days and while on a business call with myself and another colleague, he placed his phone in his center console facing up... I got in the backseat and prior to our other colleague getting into the front seat, he inadvertently threw his set of keys out of his pocket into the center console, landing on top of the 3G and scratched it up pretty good, totally defacing about 1-1/2 inches in the center of the screen. I almost lost my lunch and it wasn't my iPhone. The keys I refer to were not just a random couple of keys, but about 5-6 keys with a token on it making them weigh about the same as 7-8 twenty-five cent pieces at a fairly rapid velocity. SO whatever protective cover you get, make sure it is durable enough to endure and repel whatever impact you expose it to in your daily tasks. Oh, he has since had to order a new 3G and I can assure you he didn't get it at the "subsidized" rate and APPLE CARE did not cover it even being less than a week after he bought it.

  • Using plastic film that came w/iphone as screen protector

I have been using the plastic film that was on the iphone screen in the box as a screen protector. Everything works the same with it on as off. I just cut the tab on the bottom off. The only problem is it covers the earhole and I just use my headphones or speaker on calls.

It's purely preference whether or not to use a protector, but here is a link to some testing that PC World did that you may find interesting:

  • Can a fingernail depass an iphone 5 screen protector?

Can it depass to scratch the screen?

Again, if you have a screen protector from a company other than Apple on your iPhone, you should talk to whatever company made that screen protector. I have no way of knowing what the screen protector you have might be capable of.
    Regards.

  • HT203167 Scared to sync iphone...feel like a moron.

    Hi-
My harddrive had to be wiped out and restored due to virus.  It's fixed now, and I've downloaded itunes, but I'm afraid that when I plug my phone in to udate it, my itunes library will be wiped out because the harddrive no longer has these files anywhere.  I know that there must be a safe way to do this, since people buy new computers all of the time, but it makes me nervous. Thanks for any advice
    -Nikki

"but I'm afraid that when I plug my phone in to udate it, my itunes library will be wiped out because the harddrive no longer has these files anywhere."
That will certainly happen.  Iphone will simply mirror the selected content of the computer to which you sync.  If your computer has no content then the content from the iphone will eb erased.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very purpose.  Use your backup copy of the comptuer to put everything back.
