IPhone 4 screen sensitivity to facial contact

I'm unable to use the phone normally to the face/ear as the skin contact causes one of the following to happen: phone switches to speakerphone, keyboard buttons are heard being pressed, and or the call ENDS. I have met two more owners with the same issues. Upon physically talking with an Apple rep at the store, he told me that he was familiar with the problem, gave me some tech lingo about distance between two points of the phone, and assured me that future software corrections would remedy this. How common is this...anyone have any feedback? I have resorted to using a bluetooth earpiece, and my rubber bumper is a month away now; was not assured that the bumper was a fix or related by the Apple rep. I feel like the phone is useless at this point, and the quality no where near the 3GS. I have to use my Blackberry to ensure solid phone connections until the fix arrives. Everytime I speak in person to an Apple rep about a concern, I notice "deer in headlights" reactions, and it's as if they don't want to talk loud and their eyes dart about to see who's listening.

My wife had the same problem and she talks on it a lot. I had it before I upgraded to 4.1 but my wife still would disconnect calls. Apple replaced her phone yesterday and I had to put the 4.1 on. She has not talked much on it yesterday or today. She was on the phone tonight and disconnected a call. Seems to me that Apple needs to have a setting where you can choose to make it like it is currently or my suggestion make it where when you connect it cuts off the prox switch and to bring up the end call, mute, speaker, and whatever else choices on the menu by pressing the home button to bring those features up. Then she will never disconnect a call again. She sure misses the Blackberries we had. Hopefully, Apple will fix the problem soon. Right now she is ****** and wishes we got the Blackberry 9700 or she might even cancel the contract with AT&T and get a Motorola Droid. She likes the apps but thinks the iPhone4 is the worst phone ever because she get hangs up on people accidently.

I have 3gs, and for the past few weeks having some wierd issues. hope i can explain it well.
I dunno what happened but my screen sensitivity has reversed, i mean to say generally when we make calls and if the phone is next to your ear the screen turns black and unresponsive to the touch of your ear and once you finish the call and remove the phone from your ear the screen activates to end the call.
in my case this screen sensitivity have reversed, the moment i take my phone next to my ear, the screen activates and thus it becomes responsive to the touch of my ear and as a result automatically the call sometimes go to speakerphone or sometimes go on hold and what not, and as soon as i remove the phone from my ear, the screen blacks out and not showing the screen end call button. i have to end the call through the top button. after a few seconds the screen appears and acts normal for applications and internet stuff. again if i make a call it starts acting in the same reversed way..............
its very very annoying and i need some expert advice. my phone is in its original condition, never unlocked, never jailbroken, with 3.1..........please please help me........hope u all understood what i was trying to say.........

And I thought I was the only one having this strange problem. For me too the automatic screen saving is reversed! Everytime I have a call the screen is on and active right next to my ear. When I want to end a call I have to place my finger on the sensor to activate the screen as it goes black otherwise.
Same while playing the voicemail: it goes black shortly after I start the recording and only would show up with my finger placed on the sensor...
No case. Reset and recovery done. No change.
So I guess we have a hardware problem.
I will go to my local dealer next monday to let them have a look!

IPhone 6 screen sensitivity problem

Have iphone 6 15 days ago. After update 8.1.3 I am getting annoying sensitivity problems. Needs tapping many time for action.
I see multiple of same complaints. Is Apple doing anything to fix.If so i need to know. Live far from apple strore. No land line or cable.

Went to apple store and had my iphone6 changed for a new one. The same problem was there with the new phone. Was advised to empty and start from new phone status, activate and transfer manually without restoring from iphone 5 back up. Normal operation so far from last 3 days.

Iphone 4 screen sensitivity

So I just got my Iphone 4 finally and have discovered an issue. It seems whenever I make a phone call my cheek constantly hits the mute button or end call button. I didn't have this issue with my 3G. I tried pushing the sleep button but that only ends the call. Any suggestions on how to prevent this??

You cannot turn off the Home Button. Use a passcode and you won't have that problem.

Since restarting did not help, reset your iPhone, see: Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If that still does not solve it, check, if the contact you are trying to add is problematic. Try to save a different contact. Does that work?
If not, reinstall the Contacts app. This is only possible by restoring your iPhone, unfortunately.

Sensitivity of iphone touch screen

Can I adjust the sensitivity of the iphone touch screen? Does not recognize the end call button through my case.

You're welcome. They replaced my son't twice. Once for the End button issue, once for a problem with the sound. The mic when on the phone sounded terrible, you remove the case and it sounded fine. but the case back on and it was terrible again. Both time replaced at no cost.

My phone is relatively new (got it back in June) and I haven't dropped my phone at all, haven't gotten it wet, etc... The only thing I've done to it recently is install iOS7. Took my phone to the Apple store this week and they told me it was a hardware/screen malfunction. They replaced the screen for free since it was under warranty. Now it works fine again!

It sounds like you are unable to see your contacts in the phone, but have confirmed they are still at http://www.icloud.com. I would next try these troubleshooting steps from the article named:

If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Contacts app on your iOS device:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Contacts preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.

Wait a minute before reopening the Contacts app.
Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on:
Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn Contacts off. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/contacts and on one or more of your devices. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.

Most intelligent people would not store such sensitive data on a device that could so easily be lost, stolen, or damaged. Even if they chose to do so, they would use the device as designed and regularly sync and backup that device as described in the User's Guide.

You can move it where ever you want it. By default, it's in the Utilites folder. Tap and hold the icon until it starts to wiggle then drag it to where you want it.

Who and where exactly is the iPhone 5 screen manufactured and what it the part number?
Forget about full replacement, I didn't buy the Apple Care warranty when I ordered from AT&T.
My iPhone 5 still boots, and the touch screen still responds to gestures. (see attached image)
Surely somebody knows somebody, who knows somebody, who actually works for the manufacturer(s) and can get the Apple and/or Manufacturer's part number and where the part(s) is/are assembled. Let's be creative and solve this supply problem.

There is no "best" as Apple doesn't sell the parts to anyone. Anything you find will either be counterfeit or salvaged from an iPhone that died.
You may want to check ifixit.com as they have guides for repairing various devices and may be able to help.

When there is unauthorized modifications on the iPhone Apple doesnt replace the product. Unfortunately you will need to get a new iPhone!
If you could have contacted Apple when you broke your screen you would be eligible to get a replacement after paying the Out of Warranty service fee.

My iPhone 4s screen is black

My iphone 4s screen isn't turning on. I was using an app earlier today and the app froze for a second, then turned black. I clicked the home button again but the screen wont turn on. Siri still works, since i was holding the home button in hopes that it would magically turn on, and it made the signature sound. I've had the phone since last Christmas (2012), so i know where the slide to unlock thing is. I tried shutting the phone down and it worked, since when i plugged it in i didnt get the vibration or sound. The catch is, since I am somewhat clumsy, I broke the screen twice and got it fixed at the stand across from the apple store. I dont know if you'll be able to help me after i said this. I can still play music using my apple headphones with the thingy (to fast foward, play, pause, etc) and siri works, my sounds do, i can hear when i get messages, but cant read them. This happened once before but i plugged it in and after a while it turned back on. I hope this is a relatively easy fix, since I need my phone to call/ contact people every day.

No data is lose doing a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

My iphone 4s screen went black, but Siri was still working and then a little bit later Siri stopped working. I then let the battery go dead and have plugged it into my laptop and it is not responding. I tried holding the lock button and home button for 10-15 seconds but that did nothing. Any ideas on what the problem could be?
