So if you pre order your iPhone 4 from the apple online store will you receive the phone on launch day? Isn't that how apple usually does it? Just wondering if I should skip waking up at 6am and standing in line for a couple hours. Lol

Don't know for sure, but in the past you could either pre-order or reserve. If you pre-order, it will be held. Why not have it shipped directly to you to arrive 6/24? The Apple Stores are packed (with lines just to get in even if not getting an iPhone) for a good 2 weeks, particularly on weekends.

For those of you who ordered the new iPhone (5) during the "available 3-4 weeks" how long after you've place the order did your iPhone ship?
Reason I'm asking this is because I've read from numerous (trusted) sources that the "big three" in the US have lowered their waiting times to one week or less yet the Apple Online Store still states 3 to 4 weeks.

I have the same issue. Ordered it two and a half weeks ago, and even though the expected ship dates have changed from 3-4 weeks then 2-3 weeks and now 2 weeks, my date still shows the original ship dates of Nov. 30-Dec. 6
I can walk into the AT&T store right now and pick one up as they told me they have a few in stock. This is agrrivating. I keep waiting for the email to tell me it has finally shipped. I'm so anxious I check it several times a day! LOL.

None of the Apple online stores ship overseas, they only ship within their own countries, so you will either need to wait until the iPhone 5 is released in Russi, or you will need to find another store that will ship to Russia.

Why does the iPhone ship from China?

I've been reading many people's posts about their iPhone shipping from China. Mine is shipping from Kentucky. Apple is an American company, so how does that work?

Apple uses subcontracted factories (such as Foxconn) in China to manufacture the products. I don't think it pays "China" anything per se.

Good luck in proving that they purposely deceived you, me, and anyone else still waiting. I'm would guess that they were told by Apple to expect a certain amount devices, and when that amount fell short...well guess what happens...backorders and furious consumers. Was I upset that I had trouble pre-ordering...yes. Was I a bit bothered when my ship date moved...you betcha! Will my world come to an end if I don't have my new iPhone today...nope, not at all. I'm not saying you shouldn't be bothered but it's not like it's a limited edition device and they're only producing so many. Everyone who wants one will eventually have the opportunity to get it...some of us will just have to wait a little longer. I'm in no way telling you not to be upset, after all, you're entitled to your own opinion and feelings...I just know that my energy could be better used on something more productive than being angry at Verizon. After all, I know they're not sitting on a boat load of phones just pointing at laughing at the fact that I have to wait. When they have it, they'll ship it. I'll get mine and I'm sure if you hang in there, you'll get yours too. What I've learned about iPhone shipping

I've seen quite a few posts (and threads) about shipping times so I thought I'd just write down my own experience in case others may find it helpful.
Ordered on 7/27 and originally had a 7/20 ship & 7/23 delivery date. I started checking my status updates last weekend and noticed it had changed to 'Prepared for Shipment' on 7/10. Thus began my obsessive odyssey of rechecking the status whenever and as often as possible. Here's how it all played out; 6 days from that first status change to delivery.

The Hong Kong and Anchorage stops felt painfully long. Any status updating was very delayed; several hours after the actual event.
Learned there are different options when it comes to checking package status online.

Both of those had far more 'real-time' updating on the first half of the journey - all the way to Anchorage thru 'International Shipment Release' status. Strangely, after that the Fedex site was far more real-time than the other options. Maybe that was just my case but I definitely noticed that the other options started lagging behind Fedex official tracking at that point.
Seemed a few folks didn't get theirs by the estimated delivery date and it seems the more 'sort facilities' your package has to go through after landing at a main FedEx hub (say Indianapolis or Memphis), the worse your chances. Luckily for me, Atlanta is a quick flight from Memphis and one Sort Facility between the Atlanta airport and my delivery address.
To those waiting on their phones, I will tell you it works great. Haven't had any proximity sensor or reception issues - at least not any different from my experiences with the AT&T network overall which really haven't been great. (Never had a dropped call for years while on Verizon but have always had them happen somewhat regularly on AT&T regardless of type of phone.) Of course, I've only used it for a few hours so we'll see how it goes.
I previously was using an iPhone 3G and this thing is so, so much faster. Any app responds instantaneously. And when I plug it into my Kenwood car stereo with a built-in USB port it plays music and I'm able to scan through the music just as quickly. That wasn't the case before.

I ordered 2 iPhone 4's from the AT&T Premier site on July 9 (my company has an agreement with AT&T). My credit card company immediately flagged the purchase as possible fraud, so it took a day or two to clear that up. The order went to "Processing" status on the AT&T Premier site on July 12. It stayed in that status until yesterday, July 20, when it changed to a status of "Shipped" and I got an email from AT&T with the FedEx tracking number. FedEx says that the phones shipped from Texas yesterday night and are on schedule to be delivered to me in Connecticut today (July 21). That's only 8 business days and includes the screw up from my credit card company - better than I expected. The "Processing" time probably included the time it took to ship the phones from Apple's factory in China to the AT&T facility in Texas.
By the way, here's the deal I got from AT&T Premier:
$38.50 - 550 shared minute plan (1st iPhone)
$ 9.99 - Additional line (2nd iPhone)
$19.25 - 2Gb personal data (1st iPhone)
$19.25 - 2Gb personal data (2nd iPhone)
$ 0.00 - pay as you go texting

IPhone ship to Canada currently?

Does Apple ship the iPhone to Canada, because many people have hacked versions up here in the north, but they usually have to get it shipped to the states then to Canada. So can I get it from the site, and ship it to Canada? And can I still get it for the ridiculous amount. For goodness sake Apple, the Canadian dollar is worth more now, change your prices!!!!

Taking a trip to the nearest Apple store to buy the iPhone doesn't take much time out of anyone schedule. In my case I made a day out of it by not just buying this magnificent smartphone but also touring Seattle's sites and shopping for clothes, etc before heading back to Vancouver, BC.
As for the price I find Apple's iPhone pricing to be very competitive. Especially when compared to other smartphone retail pricing such as the HTC Touch, RIM Blackberry Curve and Palm Treo 750. Even after paying the California state tax and duty when crossing customs I was still getting a bargain. My advice is to ensure you have purchase insurance on you credit card since unlocking the iPhone voids the manufacturer warranty. This way if something does go wrong you at least have replacement value for the iPhone.

Good Morning: Just wanted to pass on the information I received this morning. Sure this may not help some however someone posted a telephone number to call if you really wanted to know the status of your order. That number is 866-388-7390 and it is for Internet Orders as well as returns.
I expressed my concerns with Shelly the rep who took my call when I contacted this number and explained that I was advised that I should receive a confirmation Tuesday etc.
She was very polite as was I, and explained to me that the deliver by date, is the DATE that the device is to be delivered to the WAREHOUSE. Once it has been delivered to the warehouse, whatever shipping method was selected will be honored. In my case, I have a two day shipping method, and shipping does not occur on the weekend therefore I wont receive my device until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week at the latest.
If this is the case, I am okay with that but a little disappointed as the advertisement for preorders as appearing at your doorstep on the 19th isn't exactly accurate. What doesn't make sense to me is that some people have received shipping confirmations with delivery dates to their physical location for the 19th but instead of arguing about it, I simply accepted it for early next week and am okay with that.
In any event, this does explain why I dont have a shipping date/tracking because if the delivery by date to the warehouse is the 19th and today is Tuesday really this information would not be required until Friday. She also mentioned that the tracking/shipping data is also dependent upon where you are located. I am on the east coast, in south carolina and have noticed several other customers with the same location code as me 1456901 as experiencing the same issues.
For the sake of my sanity I am going to enjoy the next few days in Iphone 6 plus silence and reconvene this FRIDAY should I not have any data. I will say that every single person that I have spoken to has confirmed the 19th of September based upon my order time.

we must have talked to the same rep. Also in South Carolina and have the same order location. Received my deliver by date as 10/14 on my email confirmation and i know for a fact i was in and out of the Verizon site by 3:04am.(EST.) the rep had said that i will not receive my order status till the 19th. I didn't ask if i would receive it that day or not, but like other people i agree Verizon or Apple in that matter should have done a little more prep work. You released a Iphone with a bigger screen, what do they expect? Anyway to get off that topic (other threads for that) just wanted to add to the conversation that I as well have the dreaded "not available at this time" also there is a way with Fedex to search by reference, using you order number and location number (Order#_Location#) (i might have reversed those, sorry) so if you don't have a tracking number yet, at least you can check to see that. But yes i agree with everyone on this board, it sucks, Verizon and apple messed up, and oh FYI if you pre-ordered you cant cancel your pre-order, so you cant go to the store on the 19th to get a new phone, only way to get around that is to open another line.... ooooohhhhh the agony...

Ordering an iPhone: shipping to different address

In about 4 weeks I am going to be moving from Illinois to California. I am currently with Verizon but I plan on switching to ATT with the iPhone 6.
Is there any way I can place an order for a new iPhone -- setting it up as a new account with ATT with my California address (so that I can get a local area code) -- but have the phone shipped to me in Illinois?
The Apple Store seems to indicate they will not do this for security reasons. I'm guessing that waiting in line at an Apple or ATT store would be my only option (if at all).
Any ideas?

Yes I did that, multiple times. I also got iBrate, and it doesn't vibrate at all.
I tried calling apple care about this, waited for 15 mins and ended up getting hung up on by the tech person after I tried all of the measures he suggested, which I've done myself since last night.
I might just end up going to the local apple store for this. :-(

For those of you with preorders that have actually shipped (lucky you, by the way, and congratulations!), what does your reference number on the shipment look like? Some combo of your location and order number? Your order ref? Or just your order? Shipping by FedEx or UPS? Wondering if I can try to discover my tracking number, if any, via the carrier. Thanks!

My order is being shipped via FedEx, my tacking number is 12 digits long, but my purchase order number is a combination of my location followed by an underscore followed by 4 zeros and my order number.
Example: W123456_000091xxx

IPhone shipping yet never an email

I ordered my phone at 3:00 am the 14. I've been tracking the progress and I was charged, Mystatus was changed to shipping I have a tracking number that works on the FedEx site. I am very confident that I'm all set but not once did I ever receive any email from verizon. Never a pre order conformation and now no email that the order has beeen shipped. I talked to a cSR and confirmed my email address. Any one else have this problem.

I ordered at 2:55 am. Everything went through. Never recieved email... But did using confirmation number checked status. And now it says shipped. Fed ex number works and is set for 21st. Never got email telling me that either.

If lead is found in the iphones, I am sure that apple would refund money, right? Oh, and there are plenty of techie devices that contain lead paint...I recently bought a "chill pad" to place under my Macbook to prevent the computer from heating up so much, and I happened to read the small teeny tiny print on the back of the package and it says "WARNING: contains lead paint, wash hands after use" What the heck??? Be careful what you buy...I think packages are required to put warning labels about lead paint, however, if it is in trace amounts then maybe they won't put a label!
