IPhone 4 SMS issue

Hello, I have had the strangest thing happen when receiving a text from another iPhone 4 user. The text that I received was not the text that was sent by my friend. I will try and explain further...... When reading the text, i was sure it was not meant for me as it seemed to be a continuation from another conversation, not with myself but the end of the text related to our previous conversation. It looked liked another messaged was pasted into our chat by mistake. I asked my friend what he was on about and he sent me a screen shot of what he actually sent. This was different to what I received, except the last bit.
Has this ever happened to anyone? I've Googled but found nothing

  • IPhone 4 SMS issues...not 1 way text

I recently bought an iPhone 4 from verizon. I noticed a SMS issues...getting text from other cell phones with no problem but not from 1 way texts(I.e. Banks, Internet). Tried to open my mobile banking/alerts on my credit cards ( 4 total). When the companies text me the verification code I never received text. Talked with verizon but they didn't find any issues. Their text test came immediately through. They had me send text to my self via (www.txt drop.com) but never got those texts....help What the heck is going on...

If it is not reaching your iPhone has to be an issue with either Verizon or the person sending it.

  • Lumia 1020 SMS Issue.

Been having issues for a few months now and haven't been able to find any solutions online. I'm having an issue where I can not send messages to certain numbers and I am just receiving the "Can't send" message as if I had no signal. What's even more confusing is that I have no issue receiving messages from these numbers, I am just incapable of replying. Currently this is only affecting a few contacts, but obviously this is an extremely annoying issue. If you have any advice or tips to solve this issue I would greatly appreciate it. Oh and I've just carried out all possible updates and still the problem persists.
-Thanks for taking the time to read this, MuirC

    Hi MuirC,
We appreciate your effort in posting your concern on the forum. By the way, are you still experiencing the SMS issue? If yes, have you tried using another SIM card if it makes any difference? Make sure to use the  original Micro SIM  and not the modified one. You may also try checking this Nokia Lumia 1020 - Troubleshooter for a possible resolution. Any update is very much appreciated.

  • 1.1.3 & sms issue

1.1.4 didnt fix the sms issue ... i still get errror invalid number . please resnd useing a valid 10 digital number or valid short code.

Make sure you are only using the 10 digit mobile number and not including a 1 in front....like you would typically do when dialing long distance. If that is not the problem you're having.....then I'm clueless as to why you are getting an error.

    Hey there Gordo456,
It sounds like you are not able to join your Wi-Fi network with the correct password on 1 out of many devices. I recommend the troubleshooting from the article named:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Restart your iOS device.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
If that troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, I would next try these steps from further down the article:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you're attempting to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you're entering your Wi-Fi password correctly. Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

According to this article  Using iPhone on an airplane  you should be able to listen to music with Airplay Mode enabled.
Make sure you have Music switched on in Settings > Store or your music won't download via Wi-Fi.

  • IPhone SMS Save Draft required ASAP

How do you reference a previous iphone sms conversation without cancelling (destroying) the current message?
Copy and paste is a clunky and dangerous method on a touch screen... With Apple being a UI focused corporation, this is a major oversight.
    Richard

Thanks Meg - I added an enhancement request to their feedback page.
The use case I have described seems pretty foundational (wanting to check a previous conversation before sending a new message), and it seems to be implied in the messaging UI of Nokia from at least 2000. I can understand that this may have been considered less of a problem on an iphone given that once a conversation has been established, previous messages can be viewed - but it is not possible until that new conversation has been established.

    Hi,
If I remember correctly, conversation does what you describe. As the application is "experimental beta", the functionality might not be on as good level as you expected. I would still say that it's worth trying
Conversation app for S60 3rd edition devices:
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/conversation
    Reviews / comments:
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/node/34/review
    Description:
"The Conversation is an add-on application that allows you to follow your communication with contacts as streams of conversations, which it organizes, based on individual contacts. The application also makes it very easy to reply to received messages and continue an ongoing conversation with the contact.
After installation, the application will appear in your device as a new tab in your Contacts application. You can also set the application to be a short-cut key (e.g., left-soft-key or right-soft-key) or standby application icon in the Settings menu option in your terminal."

  • IPhone Sync issue (and album art messed up)

Whenever I sync my iPhone with iTunes, instead of just updating the media I have changed, it will randomly add anywhere between 30 to 300 songs that were already on my iPhone. It doesn't cause any problems with using the iPhone other then the fact that it takes a really long time to sync even when I don't change anything or add new media to sync with the iPhone.
    So far I have:
-made sure I have the latest updates of iTunes and all software
    -re-set iSync
    -done an archive and install
-had a genius appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and
    -they replaced my iPhone
...but my problems still exist. And on top of that, all of the album artwork on the iPhone is jumbled up. It looks fine in cover flow, but when I switch to the normal mode it will be the wrong artwork with the wrong song. My album artwork in itunes is not jumbled up, but all of the artwork for the movies and tv shows I have bought and downloaded from the iTunes Store has disappeared and I can't get it back by searching for album artwork.
So, to recap, my 3 main problems are.
    1) iPhone Sync issue
    2) Album artwork jumbled up on iPhone
    3) TV Show and Movie artwork disappearing on iTunes
If anyone can help your time would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
    Andrew

  • Intel and IPhone Sync issues

Some forwarded this to me. It might be relevant to some users here.

Intel has issued a comment concerning the iPhone sync issues some users are experiencing with certain PCs containing a specific Intel chipset. “Our leading theory is a BIOS or system configuration issue, but we are still investigating,” Intel said. The basic input/output system (BIOS) is the boot firmware run by a PC on startup, which identifies, tests, and initializes core system devices such as the graphics card, hard disk, and other hardware. As we reported earlier this week, the syncing issue appears to linked to Intel’s P55 Express chipset and its USB controller, which leaves the afflicted machines able to recognize the iPhone but unable to sync. The problem has been most prevalent among PCs running 64-bit Windows 7, but the issue has also been reported on machines running both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of both Windows 7 and Vista."

    Hi R@chel,
It sounds as if you are having difficulty making sure your iPhone only gets the music you want. In order to do this, you need to manually manage the data that gets synced to your iPhone. This article explains how to do so -

    Specifically -
    Syncing manually
If you prefer not to automatically sync content to your device, you can set up manual syncing:
Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes.
Click the Devices button in the upper-right corner. (If you're viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner. The Devices button will appear.)
In the main iTunes browser window, select the Summary tab.
Select the option to Manually manage music and videos or Manually manage music. This will deselect the automatic sync settings for the Music, Movies, and TV Shows tabs.
    Click Apply.
    And -
After following the steps above, you can add individual songs, videos, and playlists from iTunes to your device. To add content to your device:
    Select your device.
    Click On this Device.
Choose Add to in the upper-right corner. If you drag a song, video, TV show, or movie while viewing the media in your iTunes library, a sidebar will show up on the right. You can drag your content onto the device. You can also create and modify playlists directly on the device.

  • Weird SMS Issue (iOS 4.2, iPhone 4)

So I have a weird software issue that's been going on with my new iPhone 4. Every time I get a text message and I "Slide to View" it doesn't take me to the message, rather, it marks the message as read and then takes me the main Messages pane. Is there anything I can do to fix this? It's pretty annoying, along with it sometimes opening up the messages app to an unread message without letting me start at the main screen?
I do not want to restore because I will lose all of my previous text messages. Is there anything I can do?
    Thanks!!!

I've had the same problem since updating to iOS 4.2, on Vodafone network (Ireland).
I'm now dropping most calls in the first minute, I live in the city centre with good network coverage, and I have the cover on...
I went to the VF store yesterday, was given a new micro SIM in case that was the problem (it wasn't).
Then rang VF technical support who reckoned it might be a problem with the software not changing quick enough between 3G to 2G network and vice versa to boost signal strength and recommended disabling 3G (this hasn't helped either).
So I'm sorry for not having an answer, have you heard any fixes elsewhere for the problem though?

  • IPhone 3G SMS Issues Post-3.0OS Upgrade

**Please note: I am trying to send just regular text messages, not picture text messages.**
After updating my iPhone 3G to the 3.0OS, I noticed that my text messages started to get really flaky (i.e. could not send messages, only receive). I thought that Rogers (Canada) was having difficulties due to the iPhone 3.0OS and iPhone 3GS releases, so I waited patiently and thought this issue would resolve itself.
I have spent over an hour and half on the phone with Rogers (Canada) representatives and the only thing they have done is told me to “Reset Network Settings.” Finally, after a lot of troubleshooting I have figured out what my problem is. Hopefully someone can shed some light on the situation.
    1) In order to send a text message to someone outside my area code, I MUST have no prior conversation with them stored on my iPhone. I can send unlimited SMSs to them, but as soon as they respond back, I cannot simply touch reply and respond to them. I have go into Messages, touch EDIT, then delete the entire conversation. This means I have to do this every time someone from outside my area code SMSs me. This is not only annoying, but defeats the whole purpose of the “conversation/chat” style of the iPhone.
    2) If I am outside my local area, then I must perform the above steps in order to send a message. I MUST have no prior conversations stored in my iPhone.
    3) Everything is fine and dandy for calls within my local calling area. No error messages.
I am wondering if anyone has these problems as well. I did not experience any of these problems prior to upgrading to the 3.0OS. Any advice on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
*P.S. I have also tried manually typing in the phone number, by using both 10 digits and the “+1”-then area code. It doesn’t seem to make a difference what number I use, as soon as I get a message back I cannot respond to it unless I clear the conversation.
    Thanks!

I also have had this problem since the 3.0 upgrade and don't have a solution yet. Here is what I have done so far.
    1) Talked to Rogers, they suggested network reset and entering in the message centre number. No change.
    2) Talked to Apple today for an hour who also got Rogers on the line. After much testing including swapping SIM cards from my work cel, also Rogers, we concluded the problem is in the phone, not the account.
    3) Apple suggested a restore of the phone, which I had tried. They suggested deleting the downloaded firmware from iTunes and letting it download again in case it was corrupted. This I did, no change.
I cannot fault Apple or Rogers tech support, they were both most helpful and called me back several times but neither had a solution.
The issue is most strange because I can send a message to anyone, but the error comes up when you reply. But the strangest thing is that it's not to everyone. I have no problems texting my sister back and forth in L.A. for example. But two contacts here in town, one on Rogers, one not, I cannot send replies to. I have to clear the conversation and send a fresh message.
To add one more wrinkle, earlier today I WAS able to reply to a previously unreliable (is that a word?) contact but only once. After that, the errors returned.
Short of getting a new phone somehow to test, I'm at a loss. I will see if Rogers will swap the phone though. Also, this weekend I should be in Vancouver and can visit the Apple store. If I find a solution at all, I will post here.
    Cheers.

  • IPhone 4S SMS Issue

When I try sending a text to my girlfriend the occasional time my text won't deliver, it says it sent and doesn't show the exclamation mark or anything. I can recieve texts from her just fine all the time. I'm on Telus and she has a Blackberry with Virgin. I've tried restoring my phone, resetting the network settings, etc and nothing has worked. Are there any other things I could do to possibly fix this issue or could it simply be a network issue?
