I have restarted computer....re installed itunes...tried to restore and all still comes up with same error and its very very annoying now. I dont know if i can do it on a nother cmputer and then still be able to use my own computer in the furute. please help

I upgraded my (previous) iPhone 4 to iOS 7.4 with no problems. There have however been what I would consider an unusually large number of complaints about iOS 7 being slow or laggy on the iPhone 4. I didn't notice that on my iPhone 4 but if you are concerned you may want to wait until 7.1 to be released. There have been good reports on the beta version of that.

trying to restore from iTunes back onto iPhone 5 - it starts but then error msg comes up saying there is not enough space on the iPhone to complete the restore - what do I do? - Help cos I've lost my contacts!!!!!

If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades.

I just bought an Ipad 2 and have been trying to set up my yahoo email. I continually get the msg, Yahoo! Server Unavailable Please try again later. I am not real savvy with this stuff so I need an answer I can understand, please...
    Thanks for any help,

OK this is what I had to do; Not sure why but apple does not support yahoo email on the new ipad 2 so I had to create a gmail account. Deleted my yahoo account on ipad and entered new gmail account on the ipad, and it worked. I can now get email on ipad. Also gamil will import all contacts and mail from yahoo.

  • Software Update - "Server unavailable. Try again later." ???

I've given my old 12" G3 iBook to a friend for his kid to use, and done a clean OS install today using the original OS X 10.3 CD's - but when connecting to Software Update, I've been getting the message "Server unavailable. Try again later." Problem?

    Hi,
I have lately used Mac OS X 10.5.8 on my PowerBook G4 15", but a few days ago I decided to try whether other OSs would be any faster.
First I tried Linux MintPPC 11 which was OK, but I gave up when I couldn't make the wireless work (missing firmware). Wired connection was OK. But there seemed to be more troubleshooting info for novices in Ubuntu so I tried it next because after a few hours Mint was a bit of a disappointment for me. YMMV.
So I then tried Linux Lubuntu 12.10 and it installed  OK via the live CD. After a while I even got the wireless to work after slapping a few terminal commands googled from the net (sorry, I don't quite know which command made it, so I wouldn't suggest this to a novice...). Ice Weasel web browser was quite snappy although youtube performance was quite poor.
I liked Lubuntu more than Mint but I didn't feel quite at home with Linux, so my next step was to re-evaluate Mac OS X 10.3 which I had used for a while before going to 10.5.
I was also disappointed that the Software Update doesn't work anymore for 10.3. Luckily I'm a pack rat so I had the old updates on CDs. But even then it took some trial and error which updates to apply and in which order (is there a list for this?). Anyway, my updates were as follows:
Mac OS X 10.3 DVD PowerBook G4 Software clean install (wired connection worked OK)
Mac OS X Update Combo 10.3.9
AirPort 4.2 10.3.9 (couldn't authenticate to the new AirPort without this)
    Security Update 2007-007 10.3.9
Java Update for Mac OS X 10.3.9 (I guess I could have omitted Java)
    Java Security Update 4.0
Java for Mac OS X 10.3 Update 5
    QuickTime 6.4 -> QuickTime 7.2.0 for 10.3.9
iTunes 4.0.1 -> iTunes 7.7 (iTunes Store won't work, though)
Mac OS X 10.3.9 is indeed somewhat faster than 10.5.8. But Safari is quite unstable (Google search results page crashes it so I switched to Bing) and renders some pages oddly. A local newspaper behind the paywall ignored the 5 articles per week which was a positive "bug" though.
But in the end I'm going to restore 10.5.8 from my Carbon Copy Cloner backup because I miss a few apps from it and don't have the time to find out workarounds and working versions of 3rd party apps I'm used to. (The PB's graphics board is failing so it has some artifacts on all OSs so I'm not going to put much time fine-tuning it).
BTW, on my Mac mini running OS X 10.8 I have planned to break my old habit of downloading updates and archiving them on DVDs because using the software update is so much easier to do.
But with this experience with the broken Software Update I might keep downloading and archiving the updates because they are more easily accessible in the future when the Software Updates for 10.8 are stopped. And who knows how long the updates are available on Apple's servers anyway?

  • ITunes/iPhone stuck contacting update server preparing to copy items

Why is Preparing to copy items stuck?
Why is Contacting the iPhone software update server stuck?
I have an iPhone 6 Plus running 8.1.  I have not updated to 8.2 yet.  My phone was syncing normally until 7pm lastnight but now it is stuck at Preparing to copy items Step 5 of 5.  For background information; I am a DJ and use my phone to screen songs so I regularly sync songs on/off and use iTunes Grouping and Comments to organize tracks.  I may listen to songs and sync the phone multiple times a day and this was done without problems on 3/24/15 at least 4 times until after 7pm.
I have done a hard reset on the phone.  I have restarted my Macbook Pro, done a Force Quit.  I have tried to uncheck Sync Music to remove all music and start over.  I let this sit for over an hour with no success.  Today (3/25/15) I attempted to update the phone to iOS 8.2 but the computer sits at Contacting update software server and no progress is made.  There are multiple posts online with this issue as well.
I did allow some Apps to update yesterday but I do not recall which ones.  So, whats the deal?

Watashi mo wakaranai!  Each time I reset my iPhone 5 and then I get one go after that to re-sync new data to the unit before having to reset again.  This morning I reset and began to start loading everything from scratch again, only to realise this afternoon that the sync had deselected a number of PDF's that I need to access from my iPhone regularly throughout my working week.  When I re-ticked those files and asked the sync to resume, iTunes stopped everything and left my iPhone without all its data synced.  I have had to asked it to sync a third time now.
Oddly, the amount of space indicated at the bottom of iTunes doesn't seem to relate to the amount of data being loaded in a coherent or reliable fashion, as more space is showing now that when the PDF's were (unbeknownst to me) deselected.  Also, even when there is as much as 9GB showing as free on my 64GB unit, iTunes tells me that there is insufficient space available on my unit to sync:  This forces me to reset again!  It takes more than 24 hours for the iPhone 5 to load 50GB odd of data...  I remember when we were told how computers saved us time.

  • Thunderbolt Gingerbread update - server unavailable??

My phone was downloading the firmware. I'm not positive if it finished downloading it or not - I checked and a window saying Server Down, or server unavailable (something similar) popped up.
Went to check for new update and it said nothing was available.

You may have software blocking update of the server may simply being hammered and simply is overloaded at this time...  You may have to wait but if you have a large amount of apps on the device and dont want to wait you could try hard resetting and then try and see if that works.

  • How to sync iPhone 5s with iTunes without getting error Msg: "com.apple.MediaLibraryService quit unexpectedly"?

I had to restore Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and since the restoration, whenever I sync my iPhone 5s with iTunes, I get the error message "com.apple.MedialLibraryService quit unexpectedly". Any solutions?

Thanks for the link, Niel.  I'm kind of disappointed with Apple that they're making us buy an upgrade to her OS to get all of her Apple products to work together.  It seems weird that we could have any old Windows machine and this would work great, but the fact that she has a MacBook is screwing this up.

  • TS2621 I keep getting the error message "yahoo! server unavaible" when trying to set up my email

I just got my Iphone 5 and I'm trying to set up my email.  I keep getting the error message "Yahoo! server unavailable".  Help!  Thank you.

There are different ways, but delete that email account and this time when you go to set up your email, dont start in the yahoo setup tab, do it in the " Other " tab and set it up that way.

  • Customise error page when content server is down

    Hi all,
The following message is received when the content server is down:
Web Server Error Error attempting to perform request. (Unable to connect to address.) To administrate this server use this link.
I have seen a few variations fo this mesage on different conditions.
The question is: how can we customise this page?
    Many thanks

    hi all,
    try this
You can set up the maintenance page when at the Web server level when the application is down in the App layer. Here is the reference for Oracle HTTP server, same you can do it for any other web server too..!!
You can achieve this by configuring an error page at the WebServer (part of web-tier).
For example, in the case of a Oracle HTTP Server (OHS), you could do the following:
    1. Place your maintenance page at <ORACLE_INSTANCE>/config/OHS/<component_name>/htdocs.
    For Example, <ORACLE_INSTANCE>/config/OHS/<component_name>/htdocs/errorPage500.html
    2. Open the OHS httpd.conf located at <ORACLE_INSTANCE>/config/OHS/<component_name> in an editor and search for the string ‘ErrorDocument 403′ which can be seen as commented text. Next to the commented text line, add the below lines for configuring the Error
Pages (500 —>  backend server unavailable, 403 —> forbidden request, 404 –> Resource Not available). For the below example, we had 3 html pages errorPage500.html, errorPage403.html and errorPage404.html are deployed in OHS htdocs.
    ErrorDocument 500 /errorPage500.html
    ErrorDocument 403 /errorPage403.html
    ErrorDocument 404 /errorPage404.html
    3. Save the changes to the httpd.conf file.
    4. Restart OHS server

    Hello chathamcpa,
I found an article with steps you can take when you are getting Error 7 when opening iTunes.  I recommend following the steps in this article:

How do i restore my iphone when it has been disabled and cannot be restored through itunes because of the error message that says "The iphone software update server could not be contacted

Have you jailbroken this device? This will make the iPhone not talk to the Software Update Server (that signs and accepts software updates) please refer to the following link? Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
The iPhone will talk to the software update servers, just need to change the host files, it's a simple process, sorry if you were confused about the wording in to top?

  • Error 1638 - iPhone software update server can not be contacted.

    Hi,
I can't update my iPhone iOS to 4.3.3 with iTunes since a few months i still have the 4.3 version. I am using iTunes with an iMac with all software updated.
I am getting the error "iPhone software update server can not be contacted..."
I made a few research and tried the following fix:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275 for error 1638 > 1004
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 with no success (specifically the Blocked by configuration section - 2 Rebuild network information, the hosts file under /private/etc/hosts had no information that needed to be commented with #)
After all troubleshooting I re-installed iTunes with http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1224
And I am still getting the same error...
    What can I do?
    Thanks for your help

Same issue still with OS X Lion, last version of iTunes, can't update to iOS 4.3.5 or restore my iPhone 4. iPhone isn't Jailbrake. I am allways getting the error: "the iPhone "****" cannot be updated at this time because the iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable." (error 1638).
I'd like to update iOS or restore my iPhone if needed but this doesn't seem to work neither as the problem is related to the conenction to the server.
    Can anyone help?
